TUESDAY, JULY'S RUBIES for the MVM

Hi everybody (gonna post this now, so there's only ONE)

Now to amplify!

Vicki is coming over early afternoon and we'll "hang out." No sense offering her any food because it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up with her current "always eat" and "never eat" lists. I think she's bringing canned salmon for herself...she won't eat REAL salmon though.

Our predicted beautiful weeks' weather seems to have gotten Shanghaied by MISS CINDY in the Gulf aiming for the Eastern Gulf coast and straight up throug TN. Look out Ginny! We will be getting hotter than expected AND WETTER! (Don't mind the rain, but the GOO is not my friend.)

I'm GRIPING about this plateau. It seems almost IMPOSSIBLE that I could lose 13 pounds in 4 weeks and then just STOP while eating the same thing. This day after day looking at 205, 206, or 207 for nearly a month is wearing me down. My only hope is that I have 3 days of psyllium and all the water it holds, waiting to exit and that might bring on a whoosh. I SHOULD be use to this plateau crapola...before I went off Atkins, I looked at a 5 MONTH stall! Well, tomorrow I start my NEW Diet Notebook (360 pages)...maybe that will help

Ginny,
I am the reverse...I cannot BEAR the style of men's "shorts" that go down below the knee. I look enviously at the women's shorts that are mid thigh or higher and wish that I'd bought a few dozen when the men's were that sensible length...before they went to the "black basketball star" length. The few I have are threadbare! Even the men's bathing suits that look more like the clam-diggers of the 70's are ridiculous. If they wore them in the Olympics it would take the swimmer's 5 minuted to do a LAP. Probably some would be dragged under and drowned. For God's sake, they are one step removed from those pleated DRESSES that Victorian women swam in.
I was at Target and I looked over the men's shorts and saw about 40 racks of IDENTICAL length. You'd thing ONE manufacturer would break ranks...he's make a fortune becasue he's have no competition.

Have a nice relaxing day everyone...and keep your boats out of the GULF.

Tuesday already!! These weeks go by fast with holidays.

Got back late last night and had a great time visiting, etc. Weather is good, some rain, not too cold, not too hot, just right!!

5K was ok or rather turned out ok at the end -- I was running along just fine until some ******* threw his special sport bottle running juice GLASS bottle behind him and I tripped on it and fell forward (even though some tried catching me) on my hands and knees hit the glass! The **** head kept going and others stopped to help. One knee was cut, the other black and blue( now) and the hands just scraped. I walked for the rest of the way and enjoyed the company. Nothing is hurt except my pride. I believe that's why they make PLASTIC bottles and have PAPER cups for drinks!

I agree with you Zip about those shorts. I think it looks nerdy to see men with shorts hanging down to their ankles!

Just from skipping a couple of posts sounds loke Loretta needs some HELP!! This is a big job to figure out what agencies could tell you waht to do and send you off in the right direction. I don't remember how this started but M is DH's relative? Where was she before?

back Julie, hope your retreat was restful!!

Need to run errands..... catch up with everyone later!

Weight is down 3 # !!!!

Good Ruby Tuesday Roger, Barb and all that follow!

DS returned home yesterday aft. Oh well, we all have to get back to earning a living, I guess.

I have a new group starting this Thursday for the young single pg moms. I just finished a mainstream adult group last Wednesday. This is enough for me right now.

I have two a week booked for the Fall and I think I will leave it at that, so I am cutting down, sort of semi-retired sampling.

Roger,
WE thought of you last night, as DH and I watched the Macy's Fireworks Sound and Light show! It was breathtaking!

Barb,
Yikes, I guess that runner was non-thinking...do they not post rules of the game for the competitors? That seems basic common sense and safety for the other runners. I hope you are not too badly injured. Good fer you completing it, along with your injuries. Lots of VitC, Zinc and polysporin for a few days plus some TLC self-pampering sounds in order.

Loretta,
Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way! Keep sharing and sooner or later a solution will come.

Wavin to the rest of our gang for now.
Hope to be back later.

Barb,

I'm so sorry you fell down and went boom...so you had to settle for third place then?
IDIOT tossing glass during a race, may his KNEES pay the price.

Yesterday we had time to kill before dinner and found another new WHOLE FOODS on 14th Street. First one was a glorious three levels of the new Time Warner tower...this one is as good. It is THE BEST market on the planet Earth for those with deep pockets. Anyhoo, for Liz: they had about 15 kinds of fresh mushrooms and the priciest were the morels identical to the one you let die (RIP)...a snip at $48.95/pound...I kid you NOT!

Lord, you should have seem the fish department...I'll bet they had 100 different kinds of fish; the case was a city block long and not a WHIFF of fishiness! If I won the lottery I would NEVER shop anywhere else. I DID find the San-Jay Szechuan Sauce that I love so much on my lunch tofu and at $3.19 the price was competetive, WHEN I can rarely find it.

Off to clean!

Mornin' y'all,

Some much needed rain here today for us It's a soaking rain, so it will do us lotza good. I can hear the grass sucking it up! Should clear off for the afternoon which means hot and muggy at work (all that pavement ) but I'll survive.....I always do.

Zip, I'm not a fan of the super-long shorts either. I think they look ridiculous, especially when so many seem to think the waistband needs to ride an inch or 2 BELOW the butt crack. We have no problem here finding normal shorts (mid thigh) or Daisy Dukes for the ladies. The problem with THOSE is they make them in larger sizes too, and some thighs just need covering. The only reason I want the long shorts is for work... they have a health and comfort need to fulfill.

Susan, glad you had a good visit with your DS, I'm sure he enjoyed playing up there too! Good for you taking less work on and trying the semi-retirement! Give yourself some acclimation time to it, and then quitting for good won't be as much of a shock to the wallet.

Barb, OUCH on the fall! Some people are just idiots, I can't imagine anyone carrying a glass bottle on a run like that! They make plastic for a reason. Too bad you don't know who the azz was, you could get him reprimanded and/or send him your bill for the injuries! Two words for you: hot tub!

Waving at everyone, off for a lurk then start my day.

Hi gang,

Just a quick run through for now but I'll be back later. I'm going to run off to do some retail therapy.

Weight still sitting there but I'm not going to drive myself crazy about it. I have cut back on nuts, yogurt and such and will stick mostly with dark green vegetables. So it will come off when it's ready.

Roger, Have you ever looked at the Land's End catalog? I saw some beautiful mens shorts there and you have your choice of either 6" or 9" length. Check it out. They have an on line catalog too. You might also want to check on line for Dick's Sporting Goods. They have some nice things but a bit pricier than most. The reason I suggest them, is because they have their original store and Corporate HQ here in Bingo town.

Have a good time just hanging with Vickie.

Barb, welcome back. We missed you.
Oh how awful!!! Hope the cuts and bruises heal fast.... that ****head should be SHOT. I hope someone reported him.

Susan, sorry your DS had to leave but he will visit again.
Good for you cutting back on work. It's about time.

Ginny, I don't like long shorts either but it's understandable why you want some with a bit of length for work.
Just bought myself two new pair but haven't worn them yet. I rather like the old "Bermuda" short lengths.

Loretta, good luck with the attorney appointments. Have you contacted the Kentucky Dept. of Mental Health yet? They should have some suggestions and help available for you.

Six and Nine inch lengths, eh...I wonder if that applies to the DICK'S Sporting Goods also?
I'll check it out!
Hey we even found something Vicki liked to eat...LUIGI'S ICES!

Yeah Susun those Macy's Fireworks were nice.

HI to all of you

Barb I am so sorry to hear that you had to get injured like that with that stupid glass bottle. You would think that they would not be allowed at all in a race like that. That person was a clod for just tossing his bottle. I cannot believe how stupid some people are. He/she should be disqualified. Did you get his number?

More when I get time.

OMG Roger, I just "got" that.

BTW it's just plaine Dick's Sporting Goods not the Dicks.

Loretta, that guy should be strung up or something and NEVER allowed in those races again!

Man, where did this day go. I was sure I had posted this morning but I don't see it. Maybe they deleted me.
Been on the go all day long. Massage, first one in a couple of months. Then took Bo to a new Vet. Didn't care for him much but his office is only 4 blocks away so it's silly to drive to the next town. He's fine, had a shot and got his flea meds taken care of.

Have a big luncheon to go to tomorrow and it's out of town. DDIL BD dinner tomorrow night and just sent Chuck to the store for last minute fixings. I hope I make it home in time to fix it. Ha....

Barb, my gosh that guy should be banned from future races! Are you ok now or still hurting?

Loretta, how's it going today. Any luck getting in to see an attorney?

Linda and Zip, you two are naughty!

Ginny, raining here now and it's so muggy. Am dripping with sweat!

Hi SuSun, Shawnee and who else did I miss?

Hi Y'all

Gorgeous day here. In the eighties. Last day of Puppsitting the General, we will miss his silliness. The Chuckster is thrilled; with the constant BOOMS of fireworks for days, and the rambunctious Pup, he's ready for some R & R.

Barb, add me to the List of Concerned Ones here re your fall and injuries..also add a or three. You are a Trooper!

Zip...I'll add that new Market to my List..for future reference, when I win the Lottery! We've been getting Portabellos for $3 to 4.99 lb...guess we'll stick with those til our ship comes in.
The Program I used for the Avatar was PAINT >stretch/skew.

Hey Ginny, hope those new long-shorts keep ya from gluing your thighs to the seat..
that's just plain miserable!
That mixed-breed Pup sounds like an adorable sweetie. Hope all your FurBunch is doing great.

Loretta, hoping you heard some positive news today, I know ya could use some.

Montana, since you were underweight previously, I bet you look great now!

Hey Julie, did you disappear again?? LOL..just get used to having ya back, now I can't find ya!

SuSUN, what's planned for the Birthday Girl, coming up soon..Glad your DS got to visit.

WELL, it happened! Been a long time in coming..(YEARS!), our teen neighbors and illegal fireworks...Just when I thought I could EXHALE after the Fourth...
This afternoon they burned down their garage/barn..PLUS a neighbors garage too.
No one was hurt, and at least it happened during daylight hours...there's a spent foot-long flying rocket (illegal) on my roof...glad it didn't catch on fire.
We stay home every Fourth night cause of the Fire danger from the kids and goofy adults around here. If there's any fairness in this situation, hoping the Dad gets a big fine, and the kids some Community work time. They have certainly caused me years of fire-worry and grey hairs.

Unless the predicted upcoming rains are bigger than big, we will be having a family picnic on the 9th at a local park.

I gotta go undwind...Fires scare the livin' crap out of me, and this one was serious..about 100 yards away, too close for me.

later

Shawnee

me too Shawnee, what an awful experience. I sincerely hope the police and parents got together, severely punished and scared the chit out of those damned kids. Hopefully they will be made to pay for the damages.

Best get my butt to bed. We are having more darned thunderstorms.
