SATURDAY for the MVM

Good morning everyone,
It's still damp but a nice temperature...middle 70's. I can feel it TRYING to dry...I can put away the can of CALDESENE.

Ginny,
Beware of salmon on the grill. I don't know WHAT it exudes but whatever it is it is a NIGHTMARE ot sticking that ensues. By the time you turn it, you've mangled the fish steaks. I've tried twice and it's hopeless...sauteeing in a nice teflon pan is the way for me. Or baking if you like a "steamy" quality to your fish; I don't except for cod oreganato or cooked in a tangy salsa.

We are going to MOMA today, probably not to crowded as only the POOR are left in New York City. I remember it as one of the weekends that one could actually ENJOY driving in Manhattan.

Weight edged UP a pound because dinner was a bowl of very salty RAMEN noodles, so it's all bloat. (Had a big sub for lunch.)

I hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend.

An aside, Zithromax is really a WONDERFUL antibiotic, I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it.

Hi to all

Zip what is the MOMA? Museum of Material ART?????
Glad that the zithromax worked for you. I see that you all are enjoying some cooler temps up that way. Ours have cooled some also. You are having success with your calorie counting. What is your goal? You sure have your weight loss in control.

LInda will the moms be coming over to celebrate the 4th with you? Seems like 5 pounds can be the most stubborn to get rid of. I think your body is still adjusting to being without the nicotine. When you level off, it will come off. YOU sure would look funny weighing 230 as short as you are. Might look like a box. Hope you have success with your glass table tops. I have a plant stand that has glass tops with the same problem you describe. I have a few Hummels on the shelves.

Ginny, yes M does follow me like glue. She seems to trust me and wants to emulate what I do, eat, etc. The one problem I have is that she wants to go places and I have neither the inkling or the want to leave home. I enjoy being home with DH and have plenty to do. I have tried to get her local sister to take her for a while, but she has a house full also with son, wife and baby and dog moving in there while employment is found etc. Marcia helped me clean house yesterday which was fine. She can be a big help in some ways and a drain in others. Might wash that Honda today.

Shawnee glad you got that seborrheic keratosis taken care of. Hoping for fast healing for you. Yes Sam is the military DGS of DHs, that likes to fish, etc. They are living in Oregon, (I think) They have a darling little girl, Alyssia and did email some pics for Grandma Marcia to see. I think I will get them developed for her.

Susun HAPPY CANADA DAY past. Hope you all had a nice celebration. Is DH leg weakness improving yet? I have not seen too much of Leah lately and am missing her.

Hi Y'all

Cool and cloudy here, but a promise of many warm to hot days coming; guess Summer is actually here for us now. Our Toms will be thrilled to see it.

Loretta, it must be hard to adjust, bless your heart. At least she is trying to be helpful, it could be worse, huh? Good that she has YOU as a roll model.
If Sam and family's in OR., I hope its the East side where its drier, not as moldy as the West side (with that lung problem).
No, the "bump" problem fix is still upcoming, scheduled July 11.
Sending ya lots of and sure hoping the stress doesn't get to ya!
Wish you had Sam's Snail-mail addy; you could keep M busy writing him letters.

Hey Zip..Glad that miracle drug was so effective. We've got several kinds of metal BBQ gadgets for grilling fish, works for burgers too.

Hey Ginny, You've sure got a new fan re my Buddy I have leftover Ribs, HURRY!
Salmon is too strong for me, I refuse to cook it in the house in its "natural" form...LOL...but salmon patties are another story. When its mixed with lots of other stuff, that seems to "cut" the strong flavor/odor.
Made a salmon cheeseball with cream cheese, Dill, etc, that was great.

Hey to ALL, hope all's going well for ya.

Thanks Shawnee for the idea of her writing to Sam. She keeps wanting to phone him but he does not return her calls or speak with her. I'll get her to using the snail mail. Keep her busy in the mean time. Her attention span is very short. I feel the need to supervise her help in the kitchen. She can fix her own other meals but sure eats a lot, (has found some of my stashes in the freezer) sleeps a lot also. Yes it could be a lot worse like her sibiling in Paducah with a baby, son, wife and a large dog. I will count my blessings at this end but it's not pretty.

Hi gang,

Loretta, MOMA is the Museum of Modern Art is probably the greatest museum on the planet devoted to art of the Twentieth Century. For a lovely time, fiddle around this site; you'll see some truly memorable stuff...probably some is familiar. Figure, approximate value of the collecton at a few hundred BILLION!
http://www.moma.org/
Gosh, I hope you don't get saddled with M forever!
Oops, maybe I spoke to soon...I'm having trouble shrinking the file size of that pic...I can DO it but I can't get it small enough. I'll keep trying.

Shawnee,
Bob had a DEFINITE BASAL CELL CARCINOMA removed last month...yep, benign keratosis on pathology. They'll do ANYTHING to make a buck.

WEEEEEE!, We're actually going to have a VACATION this year! We got the PLUM ISLAND, MA beach house for a couple weeks, most likely the first two weeks in August. Car will cost $471.06 which will drop to zero if we buy in the meantime.

Hey gang,

Been putzing around today.

Linda, was GREAT to talk to you!

Shawnee, WOOHOO on the summer weather..... enjoy!

Zip, good for y'all, getting the vac. spot. Now to just find a CAR!

Loretta, to you, have you shown M how to crochet yet? Granny squares go quick for a short attn span, and there's usually some yarn on clearance 'somewhere'. Trying to think of some little individual 'tasks' she can do for you or herself.... has she shown any interest in gardening?

Off for a little lurk....

Hi gang,

Spent the afternoon putting the etching compound on the two end table tops and sprayed the brass bases with some paint that is supposed to look like hammered metal.
This craft store stuff doesn't etch it too deeply but it does the job. Looks like frosted glass.

Roger, hope the trip to MOMA was wonderful!! I love that place but haven't been there in years. Gosh I NEED a trip

Congrats on getting the Plum Island beach house this year. Hope the weather cooperates.

Loretta, gosh you do have your hands full. Hope her sibs will be able to help a little bit.
Have you tried to involve her is simple things like coloring? Some of my adult female patients really enjoyed it and found it very relaxing. There are adult "coloring books" available at places like AC Moore with flowers, birds, butterflies, Victorian houses etc.

Nothing special planned for the 4th. I'm taking my mom out tomorrow and may visit her Monday. There is a wonderful water fountain in the back yard of her complex as well as some picnic tables and even a gas grill. Maybe we will cook something.

Shawnee, do you have any small toms yet? With the hot weather we have had, I found about 6 of them on one of my deck pot plants. Humm, that didn't sound right. LOL I mean the plants in the pots on my deck.

Ginny, it was great talking with you too. Can't wait to get the new supply of wonderful soaps

Waving to the rest of the gang.

Well....all I can say is its a sad day for me, that Montana has baby Toms..and I DON'T!
Nothing but blooms so far...guess I need to put a heat lamp on them!

Montana, ya know we want PICS of your projects Bet they are teriffic.

Zip, how's Bob's leg healing? Sure glad it proved to be "innocent" !

Ginny, the warm did not come as predicted, dammit! Stayed overxast, and high of 68 ! Sure is less than Tom-growing weather, GRrrrr.
HEY, great idea, if M. could crochet ! She might like to make a blanket for Sam's baby.
What ya think of that, Loretta?

And, Loretta..I know ya loved last year's pic of the Stargazer lily..here's the first bloom for 2005, more pedals...DD gave it to me about 10 years back, so I treasure it. Its already cut down, so "steal" it if ya want

Hmmmm, my "bump" removal is scheduled for July 11 at 3 pm...THEN just got a Snail-mail notice, the Echocardiogram is also scheduled for that same day, at 8 am.
I'm too damn popular there...or, maybe my Insurance is!

Shawnee
