Acually, at my age I don't "thank God" for the passage of time. I'd be perfectly happy if time stopped next Thursday and there would NEVER be another Friday. TGINF parties would abound in the never-aging population...but then the old myth doesn't say "And ZIP created the world in 6 days and then time stopped!"

Diet:
Back on track:
Weight: 205
Net loss in 51 days: 14 pounds
Avg. caloric consumption: 2220/day
Weight loss: Almost exactly 2 pounds a week, a realistic maximum. I'll be thrilled to be at 203# this time next Friday (if it comes)
Yesterday was a great day with a total of 1925 cal. AFTER my bowl of 10PM Cheerios.
I'm HAPPY about getting weight loss back on track!

We were going to go museum hopping today but there are vicious storms passing through Pennsy on their way to the Atlantic and we will certainly get rain mid-day. I found three unopened Berlitz language courses on tape in the Dumpster: French, German, Spanish. They cost a FORTUNE and I plan on learning some languages whenever I'm Home Alone this Summer instead of watching stupid Summer TV!

Linda,
I am of EXACTLY the same ambivalent feeling about my glass cocktail table...it's been MINUTES from the Dumpster on several occasions. It is SO great that you don't have to worry about spills and coasters but it manages to stay clean for exactly ONE MINUTE after Windexing and God only knows how the BOTTOM always gets streaky. Also any scratch stands out like a gash accross the Mona Lisa's FACE! SO many times I wanted to switch to wood but then what is uglier than a drink ring on a lovely French polished piece of CHERRY or ROSEWOOD! Sounds like etching is a good compromise. I PRESUME you won't fiddle with HF by yourself...the stuff is the DEADLIEST of killers.

edit:
Maybe we can get to a museum after all...storms will hold off til 5 (according to the Weather Channel.) MOMA has a show of 80 Cezannes and Pisarros AND they just opened a photophaphic show by Frank Gohlke (I never heard of home either) focusing on Mt. St. Helens...sounds interesting.

Hi gang,

I'm not awake just yet but will attempt a post while chugging my coffee.
Still holding on to the weight but it took a very long time for me to lose when I first started Atkins so I best just relax. All I really want OFF is 5 lbs. Some of my waist bands are too tight. LOL.

Susan, what's your secret?

I think I'll make some speidies and need to run out and get some boneless, country style ribs to cut into bite sized chunks. They need to marinade for at least 24 hrs but by Sunday, they should be delicious.

Roger, Darn it all!! I thought I ate like a horse but according to the Albert Einstein CCARB study I'm in, I only eat 1800 cals. I'm just plain jealous.

The etching compound is something I got at the craft store after I saw someone on HGTV do a glass table. It can't be as dangerous as the Industrial strength HF. Still, checking with my DIL is something I will do first.
Maybe we should both check the HGTV web site and see if we can find some tips too. Glass tables shouldn't cause so much distress LOL Edited to add it's the Debbie Travis show.

Hope you get to the museum. It seems , according to the local radio report, that the storms will continue well into the evening.

Ginny, Is the cold front going to impact your area too? This heat and humidity is a killer. Hope tonight is a cooler one for ya.

Have you checked some on line salmon recipes? I bet you could approximate your mom's with some experimenting.
It's funny, but I used to love my grand mother's salmon patties ( canned salmon) but hate fresh salmon.

E mail me and let me know what a good time to call is.

Shawnee, Whew!! at least seborrheic keratosis isn't malignant. I hope it won't be too sore after it's taken care of. That is a very "tender" spot

Guess you have to be on your toes with the General being so play full. The Chuckster is going to do a hell of a job if Gen gets too close.

Isn't Barb in Wyoming for that race? Hope she kicks ass.

Julie, hope you are enjoying your camping trip and healing in mind and spirit.

Loretta, are you taking care of yourself too? You need your strength.

Hey Liz, what's up with you this weekend?

Linda,
Clue me in...how do you determine your AMOUNTS in your CCARB submissions? For me, it's necessary to weigh or count (when the nutrition label cooperates) everything I can. Like, for instance,280 grams of salmon steak, 44 cherries <burp, just had them, can;t stop:208 calories>, .8 ounce cheddar <88 calories> and the like. Do you do the same for your submissions?
Anyhoo, 1800 is a lot of food for a "little girl" of course you could bump it up to 3,000 and soon weigh what I weight at that caloric intake: 230 pounds but at that weight your clothes would be a tad tight!

We walked around Jersey City "Heights" today doing all the $.99 stores...even a GREAT $.49 store (found EPOXY, hooray)...unfortunately we waited for a bus home for 1/2 hour in the hot sun and almost DIED. Came home and crashed in the B'room A/C blazing both barrels.
We got BIG notepads that will accommodate the next 180 days' diets! (New Year's Day?)

Hi Ya Gang!

We just got over some heavy thunderbumpers, the power flicked off and on 3 times. DD said trees limbs were falling over at their place.

Fireworks tonight, may be postponed, we'll see.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

SuSUN

Thank you Roger for the Calorie Counting site. I could not get it to come up last night. I will check again shortly.

Roger, I submit my menus to them and they do the figuring....carbes,calories, fat etc...... IE 10 oz rib eye steak, dozen steamed clams , cup of green beans, cup of raw spinach, etc....don't know how accurate they are but it's at least it gives me an idea. It's easy too that we don't' buy processed products.

I guess my clothes would be a tad bit tight if I weighed 230lbs.

Just what are you using the epoxy for?

Running off to finish scrubbing the class tables getting them ready to start tomorrow. AFTER these storms pass through. I'll do it in the driveway or garage.

Susan, so you got hit with severe storms, eh? Nothing much here yet but a few showers.

Hi to all

Shawnee I loved the pics of the General but I was more impressed with your flowers. I tried to capture them for my avitar but I could not get them small enough even though my size was 150 x 150, my bytes were too many. Go figure that for me Zip.

Have an appointment with Mental Health on Aug 10th for M. We are all getting more used to each other, if that is possible. She is Sam's mom, did I mention that. Sam got a medical discharge and is still having lung problems. We have not heard from him and M is waiting for him to call her daily or to drive up to see her. She idolizes him. Something must have happened there????

Missing you all but "I SEE YOU"

Hope to catch up sometime this weekend.

Loretta,
Send me the picture and I'll shrink the Kb's with PHOTOSHOP to the 29.3 limit for our avatars.

Linda,
I seem to use epoxy for EVERYTHING...I may even make myself a TOOTH! (just kidding, BARELY!) It holds EVERYTHING together tightly, except polyethylene...nothing repairs that.

I CANNOT for the life of me figure how huge storms passed through Philadelphia with BASEBALL sized hail and across New Jersey through to most of the beach communities just to our South...and then to our North, lower NY (Westchester County) got murdered and STILL farther North severe thunderstorms through Albany and New England AND WE DIDN'T GET A DROP OF RAIN...temps have dropped though and they PROMISE nice Spring weather for all of next week. I'm disappointed...I LOVE thunderstorms.

Happy Canada Day Susun

Hi Y'all

Been a nice day here, NO rain

LOL, ZIP..that must be a HUGE umbrella over your City! I kinda like T-Boomer storms too, cause they make the air so fresh...don't like it when they cause power outages tho.

GAWD, now I'm hungry for Cheerios!

Bob has been whining about wanting to BBQ, so today I bought Johnsonville Brats, family pak of Prime Ribs, beef ribs, Hebrew National Knockwurst..that should keep him busy!

SuSUN, HAPPY CANADA DAY ! In a very short time, y'all will be celebrating Miss Ella's FIRST B-day

Loretta, Yes, its understandable that y'all are getting a routine with each other down. It sure takes adjusting, when the family dynamics change like that. Sounds like you're making progress. Now about Sam...is he the GSon your DH is so partial to, loves to fish and chat with? The one who was stationed in Las Vegas? Didn't he and wife have a baby? Sorry to hear the lung problem is ongoing.
Haha, if ya look closely at the flowers, you'll see bug damage.

Montana, Hope you'll be able to do those tables outside. Don't want ya breathing any chemicals.
Yup, hoping its an "innocent" bump...I'll probably be walking a bit bow-legged and panty-less for a while NO trail riding, for sure!
LORDY, TEN ounces of Rib Eye? I bow to you, I couldn't do that in one sitting.

GINNY sure made a friend of mine happy. I asked her to send a "suprise -just because" gift box to my Buddy, and it arrived today. Now, if I could just win the Lottery..I'd send them to all the special folk..and Ginny would be hiring additional help! Thanks, G !

HEY to all the MIAs.
Hope ALL Y'ALL have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Shawnee

Hey gang,

Still a bit warmish today, but I had a sloooooooow night at work, so not too bad. In town this morning it came a FLOOD, but 15 miles away at the house not a drop.

Linda, check your email. I remember mom shredding bread to put into her salmon loaf, she used canned salmon too. Haven't thought about that dish in years! I wonder how salmon would do on the grill......

Zip, around here we've gotten used to the weather going around us most of the time. I guess the topography channels most storms (thankfully the WORST storms too) either north or south of us. Back a few years ago, our area got hit by a category 4 tornado which made the news even in Canada... DR was living up there at the time and saw the footage, IMMEDIATELY calling to make sure we were ok! The closest it got to us was @ 5 miles away, but we sure got hail from it. We had loaded up the pups and us into the van and made tracks staying away from the hot zones just in case.

Loretta, good that y'all are getting into a bit of a routine. Just make sure your ground rules include you having your personal space. I don't know how severe the damage is with M, but with my mom, she feels she needs to be right by your side (which makes me nuts). Maybe on the next visit I may try some escapism of my own? Sure hope you can get some resolution soon for the things she needs!

Shawnee, really glad the box was a hit! Gift boxes are fun to put together, I enjoyed doing it! I'd made up a couple baskets for at the store a few weeks ago, one of them sold this week and hoping for more sales there too. When should we be there for dinner? All that grilling sounds REALLY GOOD! I'm sure we'll do steaks or hamburgers or something at least once this weekend. Grilling sure beats heating up the kitchen, and I'm holding off firing up the A/C for as long as possible

Susan, Happy Canada Day! Sounds like y'all are having a really good time, and wonderful that your DS can be up there to enjoy too. What does Ella think about having her uncle in close range? Bet she's having a ball!

Liz, Barb, Julie, hope all is well.... check in when you can!

Off for a little lurk, gonna be lazy this weekend some and do whatever we please!
