THURSDAY FOR MVM'S

Good Thursday Morning,

Bin busy with DS's visit, just wanted to check in for today, hope to be back.

Roger, Yes, I nearly wrote the other day plus 43Celsius and -43 C in the winter months this last winter. Sheesh! Make you wonder how folks survive.

I am still trying losing extremely slowly but I am determined to shed these pounds.

Thats all for now,

SuSUN

Hi Susun,

Me too, I am SOOO sick of this plateau but our "weight-memory" is pretty solidly impressed on our metabolisms, and my set-point weight was around 205- 210 for A LONG time. My body seems to think there's something SACRED about this. Oh well, eventually the FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS must come into play and the set-point will give way...next one down is at 195# but that almost takes remembering back to the Renaaissance! THAT set point I will be happy with 'til they tape up my box and turn on the oven's gas jets.

It is SOOO sticky that my bathroom wallpaper is curling (It curls back when it gets dry...junk glue I guess. Worst thing is living with wet towels all day...you guys with yards and washlines are so lucky. Everything is mildewing and I am careful to be generous with the crotch-Caldesene lest I break out in mushrooms! We got about an inch of rain in the last 36 hours...the gardens here need it...DOOFI too stupid to turn on the sprinklers.

We are off to ShopRite...first time this week so we'll bring the BIG cart (Atlantic salmon steaks at $2.39 again.)

Holding about 2300 calories a day and WAITING! Maybe today will be lower...No, today WILL be lower!

Shawnee,
I heard a PBS documentary last night about why the Jamestown colony was amost wiped out with a mysterious disease...probably arsenic poisoning by a Spanish spy. The narrator said the colony were familiar with arsenic because they used it after arrranging a "Peace" dinner with the local Indian tribe (1607)...they poisoned the chief and 200 braves. The bloody history of U.S. expansion goes back pretty far, eh wot?

A good day to you all.

Hi y'all

Beautiful day here. My GrandPup, General Tso, is on an extended visit with me.

Here's the General, all 8 months of him:

Shawnee,
Oh, the General is adorable, just like a Persian cat. I want to see a grudge match between the two longhairs in your hacienda; I'll bet General Tso's chicken!

Well, right now I know what you gals (well, WOMEN!) suffer with your hot flashes. I just got out of the kitchen where I boiled 2 cobs of corn and sauteed a salmon steak (dinner for one.) When I polished it off I started sweating like Niagara ...thank God sweat weighs 2 pounds a quart! I had to put a bath towel behind me on the desk chair. Whew!
Humidity has officially crossed the 400% mark.
Good calories so far today...dinner is done and I'm only at 1335 (I combined breakfast and lunch into a big chocolate protein shake...homemade, natch!

I spoke with my fishmonger and found out the differences in the salmon I have available...there's the priciest, the KING SALMON from WA and OR, the COHO also from the Pacific, The SILVERBRIGHT (that I've bought the last two times on sale) is from AL and it's much less "orange" than the others, more like tuna colored. Then there's the ATLANTIC SALMON, big and puffed up, very orange...it's the only one that is farm raised and is occasionally on sale also. Everything is fresh, never frozen! ShopRite has a good fish market. Actually, so does the A&P.
Almost bought the PERCH today...maybe on Saturday.

Hi Ya back again!

Babysitting tonight while DD, her DH and DS go to a gay wedding reception.
DS was in good humour saying he was all dressed up to outdo the "bride." Gotta love his sense of humour!

Yes, I am with Ella again. She is a busy girl, learning at every opportunity.
I am having fun with her.

Feeling a little looser around the waste, even though I did not drop too much on the scales, guess the belly is flattening! Glad about that small success.

Roger,
I read your post to Shawnee, re: the Jamestown colony TV show. I guess I read it too fast. I thought you said it was arsenic posioning with Spanish fly! Oooops! I had better slow down the old reading to catch up with my slow brain processing!
Thanks for the Fish lesson, sounds a good idea to include it several times a week. It is real low on calories huh?
Do you have a good site for calorie counting?

Shawnee,
What a GORGEOUS BABY the General is!.....Awwwwh! Bless him, such a "Poser" amongst the flowers. Those pics are keepers fer sure! Lovely combo of colours.

Ginny,
Did I get a glimpse of you here? I bathed Oliver this morning, he was upset at the time but I think he thanked me later, as he was all clean, cool and shiney.

Just have to get Ella off to bed now.

Hope to be back tomorrow. It will be a busy day with the CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS!

SuSUN

Susun,
Best calorie counting site is paid for by the U.S. taxpayer (one of the few cases where the money isn't wasted!):
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl

Salmon isn't particularly low in calories FOR FISH, but it IS low in price and high in Omega-3 oils. Probably flounder is the super lowest calorie counter but the fresh flounder is about $12 a pound and the frozen tastes like Kleenex!
Tilapia is lower cal than salmon too and I buy it often....whatever is on SALE!
But really all seafood is pretty low in calories...protein with fins!

Natch, I've got a splitting headache from this morning's cocoa shake...completely predictable . I took my 100 mg. acetamenophen. I don't like to take it but it's necessary once or twice a month otherwise I suffer for 24 hours; that shouldn't be too much?

Make that 1000 mg. acetamenophen...headache is mostly gone now.
Calories are still good and there's some room for CHEERIOS!

Hi everybody, Yeah, I"m stuck too. This plateau is a royal PITA but I guess it goes with the territory, eh?

Running all over creation to day and cleaning this barn.
I got damned sick and tired of cleaning my glass tables all the time and decided to do something about it.
I'll start with my coffee and end tables and etch them. Maybe they won't look so bad a bit dusty if they are etched. Got some compound today and will give it a try on those before I attempt my 4 x 6 ft. dining room table.
Guess I should check with my DDL tomorrow before I do much damage. She works in her family's glass business and hopefully knows something about the process.

Roger, boy I wish I liked salmon. I can't stand a fishy tasting fish no matter how good it is for us. Haddock, talapia, and flounder are about all I can tolerate besides shell fish, my absolute favorite.
Oh Rainbow trout caught by my brother and cooked immediately on the river bank over a campfire is to die for though. Not much chance of having that too often since he lives in Montana.

Sorry about that darn "chocolate" headache. Is it really worth it? Yeah, I guess it is.

How's the car hunting going?

Susan, You must be having a total ball with Ella. They are so much fun at that age.

OMG Shawnee, that little General is an absolute doll!!! Give him a hug for me.
Poor Chuckster, is his poor little nose bent out of shape?

So what do they suspect that lesion on your inner thigh is? Did they give you any idea?
wishing you the best. If you were here, I do know how to do that and do a hell of a repair Actually I haven't had much practice excising them in the last 20 years though. Wonder if it's like getting back on a bike.

Hi ya Ginny, I'll try to remember to give you a call this weekend if my ol brain is working. I NEED some "goodies".

More Loretta. We are all thinking of you.

Julie, hope you are recovering nicely and will be back soon.

Waving to everyone else.
Later.

Hey gang,

It was a HOT one today, work kicked my azz. Shower felt like HEAVEN, could have slept in there LOL!

Shawnee, AAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW the General is adorable!! Is he being a snuggle-boy for ya? How's the Chuckster tolerating it? Those are some excellent pics, need to print those out for Kaci's album.

Susan, WTG on the loose waist! It's not only the weight that matters, it's the distribution. Have fun with your family!

Zip, interesting on that salmon... fix mine with a little lemon please? My mom used to make a salmon loaf years ago, but I'm sure that recipe is looooong gone now. I always loved that stuff.

Linda, look forward to hearing your voice again! Etching the glass would be really cool to do, are there patterns for the etching you're going to use? DH is really good artistically, I've tried to talk him into getting the bits and dremel type thingy to do some etchings to sell on ebay, but so far he's not taken the bait.

Loretta, hope all is going smoothly for you. Good for getting the food stamps, every little bit helps, huh? Sure hope the SS will kick in for M too. Remember, if you wanna run away for a little while, I'm the closest cup of coffee!

Barb, what are y'all doing for the holiday?

Julie, hope the regrouping is going well. We've got the light on for ya.

Liz, check in when you have time....

Off to lurk a bit, then zzzzzzzzzzzzz............

Hey again

Hehee, glad y'all enjoyed the General's Pics...he's a sweetie. As far as interaction with the Chuckster, General has more balls than brains ..Chuck is aloof and doesn't wanna deal with this home invader, but the General thinks "CHARGE!", and I have to step in, to save his bulging eyeballs from a vicious catclaw swipe.

Aw, Zip Sadly...All history, not just US, shows that BadA$$es have been around since the dawn of time...probably since the first ancient amoebias squared off against each other in some scummy pond.
Jeez, our Columbia River is so polluted right now, a TV news warning yesterday: Don't eat the fish in it!

Hey SuSUN, good to hear that Life is happy for y'all, and you're enjoying Miss Ella's antics
LOL on the Spanish fly
YAY! for your flatter belly!

Hi Ginny, aka Lady Godiva..zipping thru here How are the Ponies doing?
Sounds like ya better start a fire under that big ol' cauldron...people are wanting your magic concoctions

Montana, sounds like a good project, etching those tables. Have fun with it.
Hopefully my bump is a seborrheic keratoses thingy. Its directly under the panty leg elastic. Sure, bring your razor and give it a shot ..I'm sure you'd do as well (or better) as the Dr. He sliced one off my back (under bra line) some years back, then a Specialist "froze" off one just under my eye...I seem to collect them

Loretta, thinking of you..and hope you'll be back full time with us soon. Sure miss you!

Julie, same to you too...

To ALL, peace and contentment.

Shawnee

EDITED: HEY GINNY ...ya sneaked in while I was typing. YUP, the General is a Huggie-babe. He snorts and snores too, just like Bob! LOL

The older I grow the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom.
