Too, Too, Tuesday for the MVM

Good morning everyone,

A good discussion on thyroid function Shawnee; I feel I know a lot more now than I did. I'm surprised mine is so good because I've suspected some mysterious auto-immune attack going on for most of my life. Probably imaginitis and just accumulated injuries for me. Oh, mysteriosa: my trigger finger is SLLLOOOOWWWWLLLYYY curing itself. A slight catch but no locking, so I won;t have to use that referral after all.

The Zithromax is quite potent...Already my lungs feel much clearer, my throat hurts less, and I've only just popped the second pill, can it be THAT fast? Astounding. I AM worried about having stopped the Lipitor but the combo is just a dreadful idea because of the increased risk of rhabdomyolysis. I'll continue my kefir drinking to avoid a C. difficili outbreak as well, and pick up the Lipitor again next week.

I'm gonna repeat my question...Does ANYONE have a clue how the new Medicare prescription plan works? I know it's for SENIOR-seniors, but we should all get versed in it. On the other hand, maybe Congress will scrap the whole macgilla before anyone but Loretta can use it. It really is a DREADFUL, confusing mess act from the little I know.

We got a goodly amount of rain in the last 16 hours and it is much appreciated. Drizzle and fog now and 74° now going into the low 80's. Fan did us well overnight even if the air was wet as can be. At least my mouth didn't dry as I slept !

Weight is still at plateau-land: 207 the last 2 days. I can't compain because the callories were in the 2600 range for the last several days. Maybe that will loosen the metabolism enough to give way with a hard push. Bowl of oatmeal for brekkie and some kielbasi (1/2 calorie version) and beans for dinner tonight...hobo fare.
I read yesterday that beans are a superb diet food because as much as 1/3 of the LISTED calories cannot be absorbed, something I have long suspected. Perhaps the phaseolamine has something to do with it. Lunch will be a black bean soup. I doubt that consipation will be much of a problem bewtween the beans and the Zithromax (KEEP THE BATHROOM DOOR OPEN! )

Have a nice day today, kids.

Holy, took two days to catch up on your posts. Too numerous to respond so I'll just say... Poor Roger, Green bloody sputum?? I'd have guessed bacterial. Your Dr. sounds like a dork! What's rhabdomyolysis?? C.? and Difficili? My new vitamins consist of CoQ10; Vit.A&D; E; Gingko biloba; B6;B12; B?; C; multi; magnesium; calcium. There may be a few more, but they escape me. They r for a nice heartbeat, immune system & oxygen to my brain & heart. I'm hoping

Yes Ginny, I got the e-mail, thanks. Now I have to figure out shipping. My Brother & his wife live in the states, so how much of the good stuff do I need? Hmmm, will let you know. The new meds r working. I slept all night last night I'm not 100% But I'd say 80%. It feels good, but still need the vertigo to get under control. Being ill sucks

My weight is STUCK!!! 134/133 and I think it's my meds BUT I NEED THEM! I'm still plugging along. I made those jello/whipped cream bon bon's shawnee posted. Yummmy. Thanks!

I'm going to check out that Meclozine or whatever. I wrote it down to talk to my Dr. Thanks Ginny. I'm also going to ask about testing my thyroid. So many symptoms sound like it, but they could also be ms related. Fatigue, hair falling out, weight stalls

Julie

Hello to all I missed & all to follow.

Morning Roger and Liz and the rest who are lurking, hiding, sleeping in, busy, or just have a life!!

All of that thyroid stuff gave me brain fog! Seriously, that's what happened with me. We got the TSH levels to normal with one med and now the doctor is checking the T4 and T3 and will probably add another. You think it's fine but still have symtoms -- That one link you gave us by Shannon does have a test to give yourself. After I reached 100 easily, I gave up on the rest of the test.

Someplace I asked this before -- what LC products do NOT have soy of any kind? Haven't found any, must be natural huh? I even have no flouride toothpaste!

Liz, must be difficult to tell the difference with MS and thyroid and other immune problems. Glad you slept better.

Zip, I won't bother you because I know you are in the bathroom!

Hired the last candidate yesterday who was the best choice. It's amazing how people can answer a simulation - lets think this through - type question with one sentence.

Waving to all........... running out the door!

Barb

Mornin' y'all,

Still caffeinating *yawn*

Zip, sounds like the anti-b's are doing the trick. Those high potency ones can really kick something's azz.

Liz, sure hope you have many more GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEPS! For me, that's the best rejuvenator. Meclazine has recently come over the counter here, and there's a new dramamine (for motion sickness) that uses it, claiming 'less drowsy'. Of course, when I saw that, I had to start asking just about OTC meclazine and voila! Our postal service here has this cool flat rate 'all you can cram into it' box for $7.70. We used it for shipping agate during this winter's ebay season. Some of the boxes weighed 30 lbs!!! Of course, that was small tumbling material and no room for AIR in the box LOL. Anyways, I would be able to use that to ship here in US. Do you see your family here often?

Barb, good for your dr. ordering more tests. Best to get a good head start on keeping everything normal.... LC stuff without soy, hmmmmm, Carbsmart ice cream is one! The Blue Bunny has soy, but Carbsmart (Breyers) doesn't. Go figure. Also, the Carbsmart is REALLY GOOD. I'll keep my eyes open for soy-free stuff and let y'all know if I see any more.

Off to start the day,

L8r

Still here reading your posts and plugging along.

Zip my DH just finished one of those 3 day antibiotic pacs. It was for his laryngitis. Guess your doc gave you a prescription for it, right? I hear you one the good effects and the bad effects. DH and I do not qualify for the medicare drug program since we have a supplemental drug plan with his federal insurance plan. Most people I know even with limited income do not qualify.

Barb I think you might have to make most of your own foods to be sure they are without soy. SOOOO many products have soy or soybean oil etc. I wonder if most of the public has the knowledge that soy is harmful to the thyroid. My brother just about lives on soy products, burgers, cheese stuff etc etc. No drugs in the bathroom here, most of ours are in the kitchen for some odd reason.

Liz I am a convert on the good effects of vitamins. I have been able to get my lipids in control and I sure have a good mental state most of the time. Wishing you success. It may take a while for them to kick in. The weight will be ok as long as it is not on the rise.

Ginny I sure have a greater realization of you dealing with your mom in a way. I do not know what M is up to. I have started to hide car keys, etc. Just don't know what to expect.
We got the food stamp approval yesterday, around $150 a month. Today is the SS challange.

You are all in my thoughts. Julie, prayers for you.
Hugs to those that are in need.

Morning everyone,

I'm with you Ginny, still caffeinating. Doesn't carb smart ice cream use sugar alcohols? That stuff is nasty!!
Wally world used to carry LeCarb which was made without soy and used only splenda as a sweetener. Darn it all, they stopped stocking it.

Shawnee, my head is spinning with all of the info you provided on thyroid disease and tests. YIKES!! I sent the link to myself for further study.

Barb, glad you found someone after interviewing all of those candidates. Hope he/she works out.

Good luck trying to find soy free lc products. It's almost impossible.

Liz, hope the supplements help you. When do you see the cardiologist?

Roger, glad you are feeling better. I can't help with the Medicare med plan. My mom who is on Medicare, has private health insurance which covers all but 20 % of the cost of meds.
Does the Medicare site have information? Once I wake up, I'll look around.

LOL Now I'll be chanting "Beans, beans good for your heart. Beans, Beans they make you fart" all day.

More later

That's what I was thinking with the soy products. Natural is the way to go anyway.

Zip, my mom has medicare but gets help with a WI plan (meds)they have for seniors. She also has supplemental health insurance. Sounds like that's what you need just to make it. When my dad was alive, the VETS took care of everything.

Loretta, what is the plan for M ? Will she be living on her own "some day"? Is smoking/drugs a problem? Reember how you kept one eye on your two yr. olds and tried to see what they were doing all time? Well, guess what!!

Leaving tomorrow for WY so running around getting water bottles frozen, stocking up on LC "stuff". I've been freezing water bottles and putting them into the cooler and when it's 90 degrees in the shade, they are JUST RIGHT!

Julie, how's the retreat?

Later!

Hi Y'all

LOL, Barb...Thanks for the subtle "head's up ...the 27th???
Those frozen bottles are the way to go . Natural foods, as much as possible, is the way to go too. Have a fantastic time in WY. (We'll gossip about ya while you're gone)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Montana!

Gal, if you're gonna be messin' withthe Musical Fruit, I'm glad you're on the EAST Coast!

Actually, we love all kinds of them, good protein source too. Have them about once a month...I MISS CORNBREAD!

OK, Guys...Sorry I put ya'll in Brain Fog gear with too much info...sadly, that lil bit is just the tip of the iceburg. Imagine if you already had brain fog, needed help...tired to wade thru the Info for confirmation to present to a clueless Dr...NO FUN, but there's where I was, along with a lot of other Hypo folk. Thank God for people like NonstickPam, and the internet.

WHO can understand the Medicare mess ???!!!??? I see it as a safety net for the big serious stuff, only! Their prescription thing...well, if I got it right ..the pill-providers can change their cost$ weekly! And I doubt seriously that you'll get the drugs ya want, they'll push Generic. To me, Private Supplimental Ins. is the safe way to go. That's what Bob has, and doesn't have to deal with another friggin' Gov.issue.

Zip, if you suspect something's not quite right:
quote
I've suspected some mysterious auto-immune attack going on for most of my life
...there are other autoimmune possibilities not related to the thyroid...altho the damn thyroid does seem to have its nose in the whole body's business.

http://www.aarda.org/

the new Z-stuff is working so quickly and effectively ! I had the "old" version, and thought it was truly a Wonder Drug.

And since you are a Mental Medical Magnet with an unquinchable quest (facination?) for "whatever ails ya"...here's some heavy-duty stuff by Docs for Docs re the thyroid.
Pop over to the Right side, click on BOOK CHAPTERS...
(LOL ..makes ya understand WHY most family PCPs don't have all the facts, too damn complicated, a Specialist is needed...)

http://www.thyroidmanager.org/

Hey Loretta ..how's your DH doing now? Any fishing?
All our meds are in the kitchen too...I want them away from any possible "medicine cabinet" snoopers. LOL, you can't always tell by just looking at people (or think ya know them well)..if they'd like help themselves to available drugs.
GOOD Going with the Food stamps ! And Good Luck with the SS.

LOL on Barb's comment bout the "eye on the two year olds"..when my brats were young, I had wall mirrors all over the house...they were convinced I had eyes in the back of my head, cause even with my back to them, I could see what they were up to.

Ginny, How's the FurCrew doing?
Kaci came by yesterday, I was tickled to give her some of your Good Stuff..and she was pleased to get it! Her Pups are doing fine, and she will deliver the General to us for a 5 day stay on Thurs.

Liz, so sorry you still have the Vertigo problem. Have ya seen the Eye Doc yet, for the "shakey-eye" thing?
Yeah, sometimes meds are to blame for weight problems, BUT I'd rather be a tad overweight than to do without the necessary ones. Glad your new ones are working!
If ya order from Ginny, you will be pleased with the wonderful fragrances and textures.
(LOL, wonder if she'll hire me as her Ad Manager???)

Time is getting away from me, as it usually does if I get near this 'Puter.
The Grocery Store wants my $$$, gotta go.

later

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I'm now officially old enough ( June 27 ) to start collecting SS.

Anyhoo, Roger The only thing I found was this site. http://www.medicare.gov/AssistancePrograms/home.asp?dest=NAV|Home|DrugCardBasics#TabTop

Many of my friends on my asthma and lung bb buy their meds in India at a small fraction of the cost of them here. Pretty reliable site from what everyone is saying.

Gosh Loretta, let us know how you made out with the SS challenge, hopefully a supervised group home can be found for her.. Good idea to hide those car keys.

Barb, have a wonderful time in WY!!! Wish I were going.

Shawnee, drool!!! I miss cornbread and hush puppies too

Humm the link isn't cliclable but you can copy and paste it in your browser. Odd, eh?
