Ruby Tueday for the MVM

Good morning gang,

First the important news: Down ANOTHER pound to 212#. That make SEVEN in 13 days...even I can't believe it. A respectable 2097 calories yesterday helped. Only hard part is that I want to visit the fridge at night but there's NO CHEESE...which helps a lot! I have some 70 calorie Twinsicles that help for that need to eat SOMETHING.
Dinner was a big spaghetti and meatballs for 870 kcal, so I'm not starving by any means, although 10 oz. cold TOFU for lunch (170) and 2 scrambled eggs (175) for breakfast kept the count down. I'm deliberatly keeping protein high (over 100 grams) so the gym doesn't cause a deficit.
At this rate I'll have disappeared by Christmas.

Nothing much doing. Last night I saw a blurb on the Weather Channel that showed 2 lows combining to give us a Nor'easter Tuesday thru Wednesday. Skies are a gray/black but no rain yet. Today's forecast is just calling for showers...hardly sounds like a Nor'easter to me?

Seize the carp, kids!

Good start for today:
Breakfast...2 poached on Rye: 230cal.
30 oz. coffee with 3 oz. non-fat half and half: 60 cal.
Got 18 grams of protein so far.

Damn hour limit...

Linda,
That weight rebound from quitting cigarettes is SO annoying (15 pounds for me) and it's really a metabolic thing. I SWEAR I didn't eat more when I gained the tonnage. I am STILL losing that 15 pounds, over and over again.
Push hard to nip it in the bud (an 8 pound BUD... sounds like those penis plants we were all posting last year! ) Believe me, it's easier to drop 8 than it is to drop 15.

Loretta, my problem in restaurants wouldn't be solved with a PDA (PDF?) I know the numbers for the foods...it's the QUANTITIES that are hard to guesstimate. At home I use a digital food.postal scale that is accurate to a GRAM to weigh all my food unless I eat the whole thing (can, package whatever...then I just take the calories off the can.) Easiest thing is something like breadL one slice 90 for this morning's rye...just read the package. THANK YOU FDA!

Morning Zip and the rest ot follow......

OMG, that's great Roger. Do you think it's the cheese? I wish I could lose eating spag. and meatballs!

Linda, have a good time. Where does the herd summer?

We now have people drowning in the flooding going on here in this part of the state. FOOLS! They try to swim, raft, kyack (sp.?) and the water is moving too swiftly.

Countdown to summer vacation -- 4 days and graduation parties!

Have a great one!

Good Ruby Tuesday Mornin!

The drizzle has stopped, blue sky with white clouds for a change. The grey seems to have gone for now. It feels a tad cool though but the light is there.

Roger,
Great going! That weight loss is terrific and like Barb says on spaghetti and meatballs.
Still struggling with my weight gain.

Barb,
Those 4 days will soon fly by!

Linda,
Thank you for your emails and kindness.
DH is holding a stoic exterior and I know he is feeling scared underneath.
I wish I could alleviate his fear.
That 8lbs is not too bad a gain. Does extra physical activity work for you?
Enjoy your trip.

Julie,
I am so saddened to hear about what you are experiencing at the moment. I hope the therapist can point you in the right direction to uncover what is bothering you. DS suffers from panic attacks too. He explains it, like you have a heightened sensitivity and the slightest anxiety builds to a full flown flight or fight attack. Sending lots of hugs

Julie, I wear my hair a little longer, always have found it my security blanket, takes longer to dry and more work but I do like it when it is done and going well, other days just a headband works for me.

I am off to get my roots coloured this aft, highlites and a cut, that will do me for another 6weeks to 2 months depending how quickly my roots grow. Got some silver peeping thru the dark roots now so gotta keep up the apprearances!

Wavin to the rest of our Gang!

SuSUN

Morning,

Awww SuSun, thanks for your sweet words of support. I awoke this beautiful day with a renewed attitude. I am finally going to get serious with these lbs I gained. I'm just down right sick of being sick. (GERD) No more. Will get strict with myself and see if I can get the 7#'s off that I've gained. That's only 3# over goal/sig weight. Linda, let's do it however it takes. SuSun, you too. How do you think you will be able to lose. Let's get our tips together. I will drop the carbs lower for now. If I have to, I will even keep track on paper which I hate doing but whatever it takes.

Weather here will be gorgeous this week. 68 today and up to 80 by Thursday. Going camping after Memorial day so hoping it sticks around for awhile. Long range does say back to 62 by Memorial Day but in this part of the country we go minute by minute. We look outside and say, yep, it's sunny!

Barb, you said on the Golden's, you grab some protein when your hungry...what do you grab? Do you keep cooked meat around? Stay safe and don't YOU go swimming. Dumb people!! Is your house in trouble with the flooding?

Roger, Congrats on another loss. You are doing great. 10 oz. of tofu???? I use to put some in the blender with fruit and ice cubes for a smoothie but haven't touched the stuff in ages.

Got to get dressed and get to my appt. Have a good day all and I'll be back...

Congats Roger on getting those pounds down. You seem to be eating a nice variety of food too. You must be limiting portions also.
Does that check come tomorrow?

Julie hope you learn something that can help you today at your session. Sometime the simplest things can be what we need but just don't know how to find them or what they are. I sure like your new avitar. Nice smile and look of contentment. Are you drinking your water? Exercise? What about that ice cream??

Susun how about you and your water and exercise? I sure am not a longer hair person. I just want to wash and go. Good thing I just had boys because I just hate fooling with hair. I just let my gray show up. Guess maybe I am just lazy after all.

Enjoy the last 4 days Barb. They can be just as exciting as getting to the vacation days. Watch out at those parties for the carb wreckers.

I think Shawnee is having a consultation with her Doctor (s) today at that clinic. You are in my thoughts gal and hoping for good news from you.

Later folks

Hi Y'all

A quickie for now, gotta get outside in the sunshine.

No, Zip...I'm NOT gardeninggal; similar MO, but no cigar
CONGRATS on the weight drop!

Will be a busy week now, lots of yardwork to tackle, also getting things ready for the Sat. wedding...and its Memorial weekend, so cemeteries to visit.

Yesterday I saw the oncologist/hemotologist guy re the elevated red cell count. No surprises there, he's pretty sure its secondary pv, which most of us here had already concluded. Of course he wants to drag it out (milk it)..so I submitted to another blood draw, refused his offer of visiting a Nuclear Med specialist in Portland (at least for now)..and will return in a month. Getting some thyroid balance is my top priority, I'm sick of being tired.
I called OHSU yesterday, trying to hurry along the referral date re the Thyroid specialist...waiting on return call for that..Grrr.

to ALL

Hey Jules, I got an idea for a cut "do" How about growing out a bit at sides n back, so you can tuck behind ears and a flip out, sort of Meg Ryan like. and then spiky at the top with a few highlights??? A lady in my office has that spike look and her hair is frosted. Well, not really, she's gray, but it looks frosted. AND she looks so good. She say's it's real easy. She just gels a bit in the front in the a.m. and she's good to go. I like the idea of a little flip out on the sides.

How'd the appointment go?

Take care all.
Liz

Hi Guys,

Hair all done coloured and frosted, as Liz says. I too, wear it flipped at the sides but smooth on top, no spikes here for this granny!
Good suggestion Liz for Julie.

DH has his time for tomorrow. We check in at 7:45a.m. then his Sx is at 10:45a.m., so leaving here at 7a.m. Hope to be home tomorrow evening, not sure what time. Will keep y'all posted of his progress.

Julie,
Glad to hear you awoke with a renewed attitude. Sleep can work wonders eh?
Yes, we have to gang up on this weight struggle. Roger seems to be doing so well.

Loretta,
Thanks for asking about the water and exercise, they are missing too.
Too much comfort eating right now.

Shawnee,
WOW! That Wedding soon snook up on me...I guess cuz my mind has been distracted. I wish them all the Luck and Happiness in the World...and may all their troubles be "little ones." I know the latter is corney but I love it!
Take good care of yourself, sounds like you are doing the rounds of appointments too!

Ginny,
Thinking of you with your Mom. Glad to see you fly in once in a while.

SuSun, wishing DH the best of luck tomorrow. Keeping him in my prayers. Hang in there. We'll be right by your side.

Liz, might work that hairdo but and thats a big but...spike hair at 61 yo?????????? Mine is colored light brown and it does looked streaked as the (grey) is lighter. Thanks for the tip..

Appt. went great. Liked this gal and she was quite informative. I knew a lot of what she told me but did recomend a couple of books to read. Nothing like the internet to get ourselves educated.

Shawnee, not sure what secondary pv is. Thyroid? Just know we are keeping our fingers crossed for you and also some prayers wouldn't hurt.

Ginny, how is it going? You have sure been in my thoughts a lot this past few days.

Loretta, upped the exercise and started the yoga 2x a week. Water needs improvement!!! Have done very well on the food today.
The therapist did give me many pointers on learning to deal with the anxiety.

Off to watch the rest of the Mariners game. Madison just left. She came over again today after preschool.
Tomorrow we are going to Seattle to have a late lunch/early dinner for my youngest son's birthday. It was actually yesterday but work got in the way. Take care...
