MVM Skinny Sunday
Good morning everyone,
Last night's show was delightful. It was called THE ARGUMENT and dealt with a couple meeting and flalling into bed, forming a relationship and Pregnancy...she DIDN'T want the child an he DID. Acting was top-notch. We lucked out, rain held off and as we dined (Greek Diner...dry trout ) the sky got blacker and blacker...as we left it was turning the dangerous yellow-green of tornados. We bolted to the theater and made it just as the "human refuse hit the oscillating air mover." We sat in comfy armchairs in the lounge and watced one drowned rat after another splash his way into the theater. NOBODY was "Singin' in the Rain!" Ate 2600 calories yesterday (damn banana-blueberry pancakes) but weight held at 214#...but I heard GOD say "That's ONE!" When we got home, I watched OUR FATHERS <a Showtime production> about the sex-abuse scandal surrounding the archdioces of Boston. It was pretty good...catch it if you can. Liz, Hottest ticket in NYC is SPAMALOT the Monty Python musical based on the Holy Grail movie. Top seats are $120 but it's sold out far in advance and scalpers are getting DOUBLE. We'll EVENTUALLY do standing room for $21.50<cough, gasp.> I asked Bob and he said he'd check (neither of us is up on the doings in the Windy City) but he DID say that women ADORE "Menopause" but men HATE IT! "Aint Nothin but the Blues" was so-so when we saw it in NYC and neither of us has heard of Burger Town so we don't know. Bob will check for what else is doing later but so far LION sound like the best idea...not JUST for the kids (but it helps)...some good songs. Linda, Ohh, horrible accident...those road crews are NUTS. I turn white if I ever need to change a tire on a high speed shoulder. Calorie Counting has gotten second nature for me and ALWAYS gets me my results...trouble is during drinking vacations I tally one or two 3300's and I put the pad away. Once I do that it's hard to muster the OOMPH to start again. Otherwise it's easy as pie, infrequent pie, that is ! AT a weight a little above 200, I will hold steady if I stay around 2500 calories/day. But the 3,000's are weight killers...and it's the 1000-1500 EXTRA booze calories<4-5 cocktails> that can flab me up in just a couple weeks! Please TELL me that's not $1600 a MONTH for your mom's supplemental. The medicare bite went up $11.60 this last year with Slimy Twerp's drug "plan." The plan was to shift a ton of the medicare funds to the pharmaceutical industry. To hide the fact they passsed a law that is so stupidly convoluted NOBODY understands it but the net effect is that nobody is getting cheaper drugs but Pfizer and Merck are smiling broadly. Loretta, OK, I'm gonna BELIEVE you...whoopee...TWO CHECKS! So presumably next Wednesday's check is for April and May ? So that means they pay you for the CURRENT month each time and June's check will be for June?Julie, So many congratulation to Nick. "Drug free" doesn't mean alcohol free, or does it? I know the reverse is usually true with AA. If so there must have been a LOT of coffee drunk (and cigarettes smoked???) Hi to Barb, SusSUN, Ginny ![]()

Hi to all
Not sure where to go with my reply today. I'll start here and finish there. Zip you got it right about the ss checks. If you die before the end of the month though you have to give it back. So it's best to make it to the end of the month. Do you have a PDA to count those calories with? Maybe you need to get one. I hear that makes life a little easier for the Calorie conscious. You can have it handy when you and Bob go out to eat and tally things up on the spot. Susun how is little Ella doing? Is she starting to walk yet? for your Dh and his upcoming surgery. You are in my thoughts too. Sunny day here now but on the cool side. No big plans for the day, but to relax and cook some ribs on the grill later.

This is a little too much for my brain this morning...where to go, where to go... Well, here I am.
Roger, Nick is drug free AND alcohol free. His random drug testing would show up both. Alcohol was not his thing but he did drink periodically but pot was the biggie. Can't emphasize enough how very proud we are of this young man. Sounds like you missed the downpours...it's been horrible here with the same weather but nobody around here is complaining. We were out at the lake yesterday for Nick's BBQ and it was just like winter sitting in the cabin watching the dark rain fall on the lake. BBQ on the porch was another story but Nick's dad did manage with raincoats. Sun is out at the moment but clouds in the west coming. Barb, weight is still hanging around...chocolate cake yesterday called my name and suffered all night and this morning will keep me from doing that ever again. I must repeat this statement often!! I really need a swift kick in the butt. I just cannot get back to eating right. My mind is in a fog about it too. I agree with Linda, toss all that junk. I toss everything. The kids aren't going to want my junk.. SuSun, thanks for the pat on the back. We helped give him a chance but it was Nick who keep himself clean and sober. So give him the pat on the back. Hope you have better luck with getting that weight back off than I have. Liz, hmmm cozy up in bed sounds good for my dilema BUT with an 8 yo and 15 yo in the bed right next to us..I don't think is a good idea. Glad you two decided on a place to go. Now when is this going to be? You'll have fun no matter where you go. Linda, horrible accident! Ginny, Sure hope you can enjoy the time with your mom. It must a so hard to watch her now. We will be keeping you in our thoughts.Loretta, I think that Medicare premium is horrible. I won't have much left after that and Fed. taxes are all said and done. Do you meditate at a certain time everyday or just whenever you find a minute. I intend to and then forget. Sometimes it's hard to find a place and time that is actually quiet. Hope I didn't miss anybody. Intend to relax and recoup today. Have a good one gang.. Worth repeating this morning for me... "Well, I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, So I had one more for dessert. Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt. Then I washed my face and combed my hair And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. "
