Sunday, a day of rest for MVM!!

Morning gang.....

That accident was something else Linda! Both links really showed a lot of pictures and esp. the one with all of the rescue workers getting into that bus. How sad!

What am I going to do with summer off? Boy, I really need to clean up this house! Some major organization needs to take place here - stuff all over the place. I suppose I should give away or throw away. What does everyone else do with books-papers-crap that is too precious to throw away?
I have two floor to ceiling book cases in the extra bedroom and it is overflowing. How long does one keep old bills, etc.

Going to be a real hot again so I need to get out for a run before I sweat!!

Have a good one! Barb

Hey gang,

No time to read posts yet, but wanted y'all to know that I had a safe trip to and from Atlanta to get mom. Her memory is about nonexistent, which is worse than it was the last visit, but since she's been off sugar at least there don't seem to be the mood swings/napping like there was the beginning of her last visit. She'll be here for 2 weeks, so that means I'll be lacking computer time...........

Y'all have a great Sunday!

Cool, cloudy and damp morning here.

"Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. "

Sometimes don't ya feel like that? LOL no beer and no dirty clothes but you get my drift.

Yeah Barb, that was a really horrific accident. One more construction worker died.

Humm, what to do with all that clutter. Have you ever seen a hearse with a luggage rack? Didn't think so so TOSS IT OUT.

Old bills? Only from month to month.

Aww Ginny, it's going to be a rough two weeks for you and DH, but at least the mood swings are gone.
Thoughts and (((hugs))).

Waving to the rest of the gang. I NEED more coffee.

Hi gang

Like your caption for the day Barb. Sunday, a day of rest for MVM. It just makes Sundays more enjoyable to not do much of anything. Guess you could start your clean up by making a priority list. I keep some records like insurance and medicare papers for about a year and then toss. Bills I don't keep at all once they are paid.
The hardest part about clean up is decision making about what to keep and what to toss. I don't keep much anymore. But I do have a bunch of my old birthday cards saved. When I get to the nursing home I'll look over them again.

Linda what a terrible accident that was. Thanks for the web news. How traumatic for so many. They are making stiffer fines here for going too fast in work zones. There have been lots of accidents in construction zones.
Is that camper a self-contained one or a pull along? I get the drift on your poem. Somedays seem so routine I forget to say thanks that I can even get up out of bed. I tell myself to just keep going forward.

Ginny good to hear that you had a safe trip to get your mom. Atlanta has LOTS of traffic. Did you have to go near the city? We'll be missing your posts but you sure will be in our thoughts.

Julie congats to you and Nick for a job well done. You sure have been a big influence in his life.
Yes, I still do meditate. It has been several years now and it has just become a part of my daily routine. At odd times I sometimes get a special calming feeling that just "happens". I welcome those times.

Have a great Sunday all and rest up.

Hey all,

Finally had a chance to catch up with y'all for THIS week LOL! Mom's watching a show about tv animals, so I'm taking some time here. There's a few new things with her alzheimers, but most is just progression. Since her last visit, my brother has kept her off sugar and it has made a big difference in her attitude. This morning she was on pretty even keel, as opposed to last time it took a few days to get all that crap out of her system. I have some lc baking mixes for my caregiver to make if she wants to....she likes to cook/bake Mom still loves sweets, but doesn't know they're not sugar any more. When she's not doing anything (watching tv, physically active or just has her attention on something) she is doing a kind of pseudo-whistle and has 'happy feet'. It's like keeping a 5 year old occupied, and if I can keep her interested in a tv show for a little while each day I can get some alone time in and recharge MY batteries.

Barb, YAY for you, off for the summer! Enjoy your time, you've earned it!

Shawnee, that cake is absolutely gorgeous! I know you're glad it's done, will it still be frozen when you do the setup and allowed to thaw at that time? Ya done her proud! You look great too

Julie, Congrats to Nick on his 1 year sobriety! You and Chuck have given that kid a new lease on life by having him with y'all. IMO, one of the biggies is you know the addiction/recovery drill and understand all that goes along with it. The old saying 'you can't BS a BSer' really comes into play with all the emotional issues associated in recovery, and only someone who has been there done that can call another on the BS since they KNOW it. Yes, Nick has done the work, but he's also had you not only in his corner but keeping him honest. THis first year is the toughest and with the highest rate of recidivism, but he made it through and can continue working the program.

Loretta, any specific reasons why the fish aren't biting like normal? Is the weather a factor or are too many people fishing the lake and depleting the population? Sure hope your DH gets in a good catch day really soon! We've cooled off a bit here these last couple weeks, sure hope the weather stays nice and I don't have to fire up the ac for a while yet.

Linda, OMG on that wreck! Those workers are at such a risk so close to the traffic. I had no idea there were so many accidents in construction zones. Since we're rarely in a city of any size, we don't see the biggest part of the problem.

Zip, I'll still take carb counting over your calorie counting any day. I have NO desire to work THAT hard! Or to put that carby stuff in my body again! It's easy for me to cook lc, eat lc since I've been doing it for so long... of course there are occasional treats, but I can jump back on the wagon quick enough. Glad you finally got your BIG WHOOSH and aren't carrying around the eliminated foodstuffs LOL!

Susan, I'm sure you're glad to be back home now after a week of away time. Even when we go on vacation, I'm ready to get home after 4-5 days and sleep in my own bed again. I guess I just like having my stuff where I want it in my own house!

Liz, your trip sounds fun! You sure have your hands full with all your goings on! That candida thing is a ******, good thing I don't take antibiotics but maybe once every 5-10 years...they have to give me diflucan along with them! Sounds like you need to take the family vac. as well as the couples vac! Do you have the grandparents available to stay with your DD if y'all go for a little trip?

Well, all, off for now. Every one have a great Sunday afternoon!

Hi Y'all

I can't keep up ! Y'all are smothering me in heel dust with all these various Topics and multi-Threads

Ginny, to you...wish I could send ya a magic wand. Come here as often as ya can, and bang out "whatever" ya need to on your keyboard. Thanks..yes, the cakes will stay frozen til I transport them and do the assembly, about 3 hrs before serving...they thaw quickly.

Montana, how tragic, that accident. Sadly that type happens way too often...the public in general has no concept (only impatience) with Road work/crew safety...they b*tch about the roads being in rotten conditions, yet when they are being delayed due to repairs, improvements, construction, etc..

Loretta, the fishing is louzy here too. The Columbia finally reopened for steelhead today; Bob went out for awhile til the rains forced him to quit.
Eleven people fishing, ZERO fish caught. He said they were all entertained by the 13 Pups of various breeds romping on the sandy shores....so not time wasted

Julie, don't ya wish we could have a rerun of our Feb. weather, back when we had mellow sunny days??? Our Seasons are really confused!
Congratulations to BOTH Nick and you too. Give yourselves a round of

Barb, I can't believe the temps you're having...damn, I still have the heat on sometimes!
The Blueberries ain't cheap here yet, but will be much more reasonable later on. ON SALE here, six ounces is $2.50...comes to about...$6.70 Lb!
LOL, still, good chocolate is $$$$ too. A 100 years ago, when I lived in Calif, we used swamp coolers too..LOL, haven't heard that term for awhile...

Liz, thanks for the Ricotta idea. Loretta really likes ricotta. SuSUN and I like blueberries in yogurt. Mostly I like 'em plain, eat them like M&Ms
Which Cleansing method/ingredients did you use?

Zip, you do know how to tweak an old, mundane phrase:
"human refuse hit the oscillating air mover."

Good work with the pounds gone!

SuSUN, we will sure be keeping your and DH in our thoughts. When ya can, please give us an update on the adventures of the one and only Miss Ella...Oh, and Oliver and Sassy too!

Usually, during this time of year...I've driven y'all nuts with flower pics. The heavy rains have left most of mine in dreary condition, so ya get a temp. reprieve ...However, SUN may return later this week, and hopefully the flowers will show a tad of appreciation, so be forewarned..

Shawnee

looks like we need to do double duty today!

Ginny, having a father who went throught this - I understand what you are going through. I've heard that also about sugar. We tried to keep dad away but he LOVED his sweets. One thing for sure, if they get upset about it - they don't remember why!

Take care and find time to check in with us.

Shawnee, yes I remember heat on in Oregon when we visited at this time of the year and also June. Such a contrast with weather we have had - snow and then suddenly 90's. This is shocking our systems!!

Loretta, were you serious about checking those cards when in the nursing home? I told my mom that tonight on the phone and she was laughing. She still reads them from time to time. Makes one wonder though - the cards from my dad's funeral! Will anyone ever look at them again but yet you feel compelled to keep them

You are right Linda - just toss this stuff out! It's amazing how sentimental we become about NOTHING!

Well, I better go post on the "other thread".
