The "Bear" at the Montana House my brother is working on. That thing is solid bronze with gold claws and teeth. House is now over $30,000,000 and not done yet.

Anyhoo
Shawnee, yeah the recipe would make good, spicy crackers. Now to find that flour.

Your blood work doesn't look bad enough for my "Vampire Doc" to have at ya. UGH on the 12 hr fast. Take some coffee with you and drink it while they are drawing blood. Did that myself last time. he he. They didn't like it but it was LEGAL!!

How about some pictures of your cake when it's finished? PLEASE. Are ya going to use butter cream frosting? <faints>

Nuff for now. More later.

Hi Linda and everyone,

The third pic down of Nick is so adorable...eyes like a Keane painting but the first pic is out of commission. You got this thing for BEARS!

Since they mention "like DOSA" in the recipe, I think it comes out like a tortilla...not too hard; on the other hand, PAPADUM made with a similar kind of flower come out as crisp as potato chip. I'll try the recipe next week.

I got a REAL reading of MINUS 4 pounds this morning...the first was a water fluke but this one is right on target. Yesterday's dinner was a HUGE pea soup so with the huge fiber intake added to about 3 days worth of psyllium inside...I should have no trouble leaving another pound or two a the "altar." THough my goal of 1900 calories is just TOO hard without being locked in a prison cell, 2100, which I have been getting is not bad and only requires some careful picking and choosing. Yesterday even allowed a good sized serving of Raspberry Sherbet (240 calories worth.)

So far, Bob is scheduled to work throu 4/27 and I pray they don't exted it any...I'm getting lonesome.

The outgassing of the lilacs is bearable now (kept bedroom SEALED last night.) It's not an allergy, but more a sensitivity...like inhaling trichloroethylene or solvent fumes...more like a real POISON. I can't use any colognes anymore and used to LOVE them through the '60's and '70's and have my dresser lined up woth old Zizanie, POLO, THAT MAN, PASSION FOR MEN..etc.etc. At least MOST women have stopped wearing perfume in elevators!

Off for coffee.

Thanks Linda for the pictures. The family is just gorgeous. I love the little picture of Nick. Those big brown eyes are to die for. I could not get the first photo to work either. That is some bear. What on earth about the cost of that house? Your brother must have some oil in his back yard.

Congrats Zip on the 4 pound reduction. Tedious to count those calories though. Do you write everything down or just gustimate? Ok back to Nortons, if I buy now for later I will still have the 2005 version, which I already have? Don't I need to have the 2006 version? Or is there not that much of a change from year to year?

Susun for you. That is a large amount of decision making. Once you reach your decision that will be most of the battle. Most of those options sound drastic to me. Can you not wait at least until DH gets settled post surgery. You are in my thoughts.

Shawnee sounds like a perfect afternoon driving down to the Columbia to unwind. Pretty soon the cakes will be "behind you" Hope you get some good test results this time. to you too for having all of those worries on you mind.

Hey to the rest of our gang.

I did not cut the cord yesterday.

Later folks

Morning everyone, I don't know what's up with the first picture. I'll try this.

Roger, 2100 calories is about 300 calories more than I generally eat so you must be hungry. Congratulations... Glad you are actually down that 4 lbs.

Allergy or sensitivity, it's still a PITA. I absolutely HATE heavy perfume smells. Most give me a vicious headache too. Some even throw me into an asthma attack. UGH!

Loretta, that isn't my brother's house. He only does some work for those people. The owners are Real Estate developers in Las Vegas. Not quite Forbes 400 list yet.

DB upholsters walls, doors, cars, airplanes, rail cars, etc. Quite an artist. I'll post some of his work later.

Wahoo!! Glad you didn't cut that cord.

DH woke with the side of his face swollen again. Sheesh!! He will call the allergist later but I don't know if he will order that lawn tractor or vote. He doesn't want to be seen.Poor guy.
I'm off to vote NO on the school district budget.
Later

Hi gang,

Back after trolling the neighborhood.

Linda,
How on EARTH did you get the IMG code too work? (How old is Nick now...2??)......oh I SEE IMG code is ON now...bottom left! Oh good!
Linda, Not drinking, I like to eat about 2700 calores...drinking takes that to 3500...can you see the PROBLEM as I'm aging? I could get away with that a couple decades ago.

Loretta,
That's a dilemma...I FORGOT you just bought your computer. To be frank, I think for you to get the last $30 rebate for UPGRADE, you'd have to get Norton 2006...and it's not out yet. THey usually give away the OLD (2005) before they release the NEW, at full price. THey may not give you the upgrade rebate! You bought the Norton separate from the computer didn't you, just to referesh my memory?
Calories.....I'm fastidious. I have a gram scale so things are weighed EXACTLY and I use nutrition lists and the USDA for exact count. I tabulate everything in THE BOOK (a 1 inch think large notepad.) Only guesstimates are going out to dinner and when dieting there are FAR fewer of them...and so afraid that I'll undercount when I eat out, I'm probably estimating too high.

Hello Maintainers. I'm here, but to post as my carb slide turned into a 3 day landslide. Uncle Tom is coming soon for a visit, but that is no excuse! I'm very dissappointed in myself and feeling I should try re-induction AGAIN!!!!

Had a pretty crappy day at work. Mostly co-worker related. Need to win the lottery.

Hope you all had a better day then me. Day two with the vertigo and drug free. Not sure what's worse, the disease or the drugs

DH is watching Piston's basketball tonight, so it's just me and dd7 yr old. Guess I'll try to stay on the ship... ah I mean her bed without falling off and hopefully sleep will take over so I can forget this day.

Julie how are you doing drug free?

Liz

Hi Liz, doc talked me into going 1/2 dose of Wellbutrin and not working out. Burning mouth that preceeds the blistering is already beginning. So that's it!! No pills....have upped my exercise and we'll somehow deal with this. They suggested cognitive therapy but it sounds like I'M TURNING INTO MY MOTHER for pete's sake. Will talk to the doc tomorrow.
So what drug did you just go off?

Linda, cute, cute pics of Nicholas. Love that name...hehehe So when do we get a close up pic of you??? all yours are so far away, my eyes can't see YOU.

Loretta, what's up with you today?

Zip, -4 #'s!!!!!!! Wowser boy!!!

Hi to Ginny, Barb, Shawnee and all the rest of the gang.... Got Madison here so will go spend the time with her till her daddy picks her up...

Zip you are right. I bought my 2005 Nortons from Symantec on line but got the CD. I bought it after my trial run expired.
I have saved everything, the upc code off the box, my sales recepit that I printed out.
I will need the 2006 when that rolls around. I paid $49.95 plus shipping. The retail stores wanted $59 for the same Norton Internet Security Suite that I bought on line.

Good to hear from you Liz.

Julie I'm up to about 5'2". Hey just kidding. Not much going on. DH and I picked up limbs today in the back yard and filled up some large holes in the yard. Beautiful weather here. Have you started planting the flowers yet?
Forget the drugs if you can or beg for something that will really help you.
Try Yoga. My brother swears by it.

Hi Y'all

The local Top Story news chatter concerns this poor lil bear (250 lbs) that's running scared (being chased by citizens and Wildlife officers) in a lil town bout 35 mi South of here...dammit, if they'd leave it alone, it wants to get into the woods more that the concerned idiots want it to.

We've been inundated with rain for weeks, making up for all we missed in early Spring..in fact, a deluge and high winds are coming...Feast or famine with the weather.

I stalled around going to the Lab this AM, there's been too many "lost'' Orders and mix-ups lately, so waited til the Dr office was open too..just in case...I'm like a bear with a sore butt when I've fasted, NO coffee, and have to wait around cause someone screwed up. Luckily all went well there. Starbucks Coffee has a lil nook in the hospital now, and Lordy, it tasted like dessert in a cup when I got to it, after 14 hours of NONE
On the way home, I was craving CreamCheese Danish...had to will myself to drive by bakeries and stores...telling myself that I have an LC recipe for it..
Luckily, it all went away...settled for yogurt.

Montana, your family sure has lots of pretty/handsome folk!!
The Nickster is too gorgeous, those eyes would sell tons of Pampers and Baby foods...sign him up! Thanks for the pics. ohhh, that BEAR! His gold teeth and claws alone are worth a bundle Your DB has a great job.

Re the HGB #...desn't sound so elevated to me either (or Loretta)...but I think the Doc's concern is due to the Thyroid-PV connection.
Got cholestrol # back, not as good as usual,GRR..I'll blame Stress...
Total 179 (150-200)
HDL 46 (50-60 for old broads)
LDL 114 (-100)
Ratio: 3.89:1

LOL, Docs advice to me via assistant, phone call:
1. East good foods
(LOL, Doc, I've put in over 4 years doing just that)
2. Eliminate stress
(Right, Doc...shoot you, my DH, and throw that !^$#!!&! Wedding Cake in the garbage, and get my Thyroid /Hives patched properly...maybe then the stress will lessen)
3. Exercise
(Another big joke, I can hardly drag my tired butt around to do housework...did you forget WHY I'm taking these Tests???)

Hi Liz...don't beat yourself up...you'll get your act together with the LC. to you re that darned vertigo..hard to function with that!

Julie, sorry those welbutrins didn't work out...Gal, sometimes I have to make myself think about all the good stuff in my life when the "bummers" try to take over...in fact, I need to do that soon. I know you enjoy walking with your DH..if its not pouring out. As Loretta says, the side effects are sometimes worse than the problem.

Loretta, I'll be picking up limbs tomorrow..hopefully not cutting up trees..high winds coming, and our ground is saturated, so the roots are unstable.
Glad you're having good weather to play Farmer.
I did not cut the cord yesterday. That makes yesterday a successful day!

SuSUN, thinking of you and sending positive thoughts

Ginny....will be needing tons of Lemongrass soon...luckily for me, it causes no reaction, except pleasure!!

ZIP, so those are Official 4 lbs GONE?! Congrats, may you add more of them to the Discard Pile.

OK, I have a reason to celebrate, and my poor 'ol arthritic paw is relieved too..I FINISHED that cake!!! ...then debated whether to show it here...cause I'm not into the gaudy Gypsy-Hippie thing, but my DGBrat (the young Bride-to-be) is kinda into Splashy...so I made myself call the look "Festive"...

Using your imagination, "see" these 2 smaller ones elevated with Pillars..to form 3 tiers...actual assembly will be done when it reaches the wedding destination...Oh, yeah..ya also gotta imagine the Topper thing on the smallest cake

Plain, my preference..

"Festive" crap added

Tired but relieved me, its a Done Deal! I can FEEL the stress Level dropping..

Hey to Barb and Jacki

Hey to anyone I've missed

Just running through.......

Zip, liked the lay-out and the conveniences but couldn't take not seeing the sky without city lights!

SuSUN -- big decisions, but if it were me, I'd say take it all.....don't need it. As far as hormones, go natural for replacement.

Good news for me -- my TSH levels are now normal, great, and what they should be. Will continue on meds as they are for a year before more blood work. I have the energy of a 20 yr. old. I knew that would make you all perk up and listen!! But I do feel a LOT better than this past year- just about skip to work in the am.

What's with you guys leaving the top button undone? Just need to buy bigger......... ok, I get the point!

Julie, wishing you luck on your meds! I know the scary feeling of turning into your mother syndrome. Thank goodness I don't have that problem because my mom is a saint - but my mother-in-law....... I keep telling myself, you are NOT related, you are NOT related!!

Will catch up on the pictures later.......

Helloo all...again. Glad to see my butt's not booted out...yet of maintain lane I'm going to try my yeast elimination concoctions for now. I know it's the carbs that are helping to contribute to my vertigo and other embarrasing side effects. I believe I have a yeast intolerance, not quite an allergy, but I did read that yeast overgrowth can lead to disease...You just never know. There is no known cause for Multiple Sclerosis at this time...I tend to think a number of factors came into play around the time it hit (about 10/12 yrs now)

Anyhow, Julie, I've stopped the Adavan and Prochlorperazine which were for the vertigo and nausea. I still take beta seron by injection every other day. I participated in the clinical trials 10 years ago and now it has been given fda approval. It has been proven to slow the progression of the disease, but unfortunately, they haven't come up with a better way of getting the drug into my system as it seems to get digested and destroyed in the lining of the stomach so for now it has to be injected into the subcutaneous tissue. A REAL PITA. Ha ha funny...not really after 10 fricken years of sticken it to me. Anyhow, I guess there are worse fates.

Thanks Loretta for the support, I hope to be done with TOM soon. Menopause has begun, as I have gone a year or so without TOM, and have had some amazing fires throughout my body. Fortunately, it was Winter and here in Ontario, Canada I was able to hit the outdoors and melt some snow. Those hot flashes stunn the crap out of me! Wow, spontaneous combustion is a real possibility I believe, I believe

Shawnee, we must have been posting at the same time. Thanks for the encouragement. WOW, that cake is AWESOME!!! I dabble in the art as well. I just made a really cute "Fairly Odd Parents" cake for dd's b-day. It is a cartoon series with the two odd ball's more like an Abott & Costello stand up comedy. They r really a cute couple for about 5 minutes. Then the background noise of them on TV drive's me mad. DD laughs her head off, so I tolerate it...for now.

I do have pics, of my cake, but have absolutely no idea how to insert it. Anyhow, it was cute, but your cake is GORGEOUS! I'm definitely amateur, but shhh, don't tell dd. She thinks I'm "amazing" Ya, let's ask her wat she thinks of me 7 years from now

Well, I'm off to take my yeast killer stuff and my pretty little "needle" (PITA)

Goodnight
Liz

Shawnee that cake is just beautiful. I can sure see that it would cause a lot of stress. I could not even begin to do that. The added decorations, festive crap, do complete the cake. you look just plumb worn out and relieved at the same time in that last picture. You sure need to relieve some more stress.

Back for more.

My Gosh Liz, you have had quite a time of it. My heart goes out to you.
I have a friend who uses beta seron and is doing quite well with it. Glad it is slowing the progression of the disease for you.

Hot flashes are NOT fun. LOL I caved and in 1988 went on HRT after my hysterectomy. What a relief!! They will need to pry my estrogen patches from my cold, dead fingers. Love the things and to hell with the studies. The increased risk factors are only 3% so I'll take my chances.

Roger, the IMG code has always worked for me. So what happened?
It's understandable that you can't eat the number of calories when you are drinking. Have you ever tried this? It might help.
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...log/GetContent

Julie, hope you and Madison had fun today.
Yeah Little Nick is quite a cutie.
Pictures of ME??? LOL maybe when I find a good plastic surgeon.
I agree with Loretta, get rid of those meds. There has to be another way. The side effects of those damned things aren't worth it.

Loretta, LOL I must be tired or just getting goofy. I had this mental image of you and DH picking up arms and legs in your yard LMAO.

Barb, on the good news about the blood work.

Shawnee, OMG that cake is spectacular!!!! You are an artist!!!!( looking good too girl) My favorite has always been dark, wet chocolate with dark fudge frosting but when ever I got a chance, I would gobble up white wedding cake. Tell me that is butter cream frosting please?drool, drool. Better lock it up

Susan, thinking of you

waving to all lurking.

Linda and Loretta, those drugs are in the toilet believe me!!! Besides exercise what ya got up your sleeve for my anxiety??? Panic attacks haven't been verified yet till my heart monitor results come back. I just remembered last night why I use to drink! Sure wish I could go back to it. If only that dang alcoholism wasn't in my genes....going to dig out my bottle of Atavan..wonder if I can get some more of those lovelies??

Shawnee, you have impressed the hell out of me. You did such a wonderful job on the cake. I know it stressed you out way too much so glad it's over. Start thinking up excuses for things like this that come up and so it'll be right there on the tip of your tongue.

Hi Liz, combustion?? Never really thought of that word for hot flashes before. Thats funny...

Hey Loretta, I'm up to 5' 2" too!!!!!! No flowers yet. Not sure what's keeping me from doing it? Maybe the rain...
Dug out my yoga tape today..not quite as much fun as a class.

I'm missing the Mariner's/New York Yanks game so will come back later..

GAWD, Julie...I was just thinkin this about you and I today, cause we are stressed and can't seem to do the Drug-relief thing...but NO to both of us on the Booze!! Sure wish this incessant rain would stop, I need to be outside and talk to Mother Earth....meanwhile, gonna try auto-suggestion and also losing myself in a good book.

Barb said: Zip, liked the lay-out and the conveniences but couldn't take not seeing the sky without city lights!
Have to agree with that one!
Also:I have the energy of a 20 yr. old.
Hey, that's great, hope ya stay that way!

Liz, we'd love to see pics of your cakes I see you have a pic of your charming family group for your Avatar...so do ya have a Digital camera, or a scanner? An account at an online picture storage site, like Photobucket? Let us know, and we'll help ya muddle thru getting your pics posted here.

Isn't it wonderful to be a heroine to your kid? Those cakes will give her great memories when she's a Senior Citizen.

I've been making fancy cakes for about 30 years, and trying to get out of doing them for the last several, because the arthritis has caused loss of "fine" control in my hands.... I had even given away some of my Pan sets, and had to beg for the Heart set back for one more go-round.
Normally I'd have used probably 4-5 Tips in several sizes and styles...HA, my hand's too weak to keep changing them,so I just plowed thru with ONE for all of it....it was a Rose Petal tip...first time I've ever used fake flowers...and, LOL..guess it will be the last too..cause I really am QUITTING.

Its up to YOU, now kiddo..to supply us cake pics!

Montana, GEEZ...your gooey chocolate description sounds waaaay better than my CreamCheese Danish fantasy .. ...oh, man...I've been OFF goodies too long. (slurp)
OK, just for you: Buttercream...French Vanilla cakes...Lemon Pie filling between the layers (12 layers total)...now go check your Glucose

They will need to pry my estrogen patches from my cold, dead fingers.
...I thought you were supposed to wear them on your _____________ ?

Loretta, I'm moving BOB to the top of that (hit) List
I need to borrow Montana's duct tape...plus break all his TVs radioes, noisemakers...then tell him
"SILENCE is Golden; get rich QUICK!"

Julie, NO to the booze and ativan, those aren't the answer.
Sorry but I don't have any tricks up my sleeve, unfortunately. My DD suffers from anxiety and depression too, but there has been no relief with any of the meds so far. I just don't know.

Shawnee, LOL let me borrow your gun or duct tape for Gerard. He is at the top of my hit list too. MEN!!!!!!

My grandmother made the BESTChocolate cake ever. She made a cooked chocolate filling and topped it with a dark chocolate butter cream frosting. GROAN!! Do ya think we all need to go on a binge and have one last go at it? Then back on low carb???

Heck I just checked the altitude in the Grand Canyon. Hell, I don't think I can breathe at almost 7,000ft. Might ask my allergist for a script for O2 for that trip if possible. Sheesh

Awww Shawnee, I would NEVER take another drink of alcohol! I have been sober for 16 years, 4 months and 17 days and I wouldn't want to screw up my sobriety. It sure did help cope for the short term, like while you were guzzling. LOL not really funny but I know thats why I use to drink so much, to cope with life. Now, I have nothing but ME! So tell me about the auto-suggestion. If you want to email me it's ok. Too bad we don't live closer so we could leave our retired hubbies home and go for long walks and talks. Be good for both of us, huh?

BTW, tomorrow is my 2 year anniversary for being at goal. Plus a few trips along the way... back on my plan and so far so good.

Lordy, I'm back again...addicted to a BB, obviously I have no Life

Montana, your Grandmother sure left you some YUM memories That cake sounds beyond descriptive ajectives....guess I'll have to settle for some hot chocolate
BUT if I'm ever Dx'd with a terminal thingy, bet your sweet butt I'll leave this world a lot fatter than I am right now..Please pass the cake, Granny!

JULIE, we know you're not seriously considering the booze,,,You know better than anyone that it sucks in the long run.
CONGRATULATIONS on that TWO YEARS...
The auto suggestion might be good for you, since you like Yoga...I'll E Mail ya

Had to chuckle over your proposed get together for long walks and talks...(so soothing)..but I had just read thru the Personals, and it seems that's what everyone wants, but can't seem to find with their former mates.

later
