Sunday the 16th for MVM

Mornin' y'all,

Wow, I'm the first one here today?

Yesterday started off warm but cooled quickly when DH was mowing, he had to quit for the t-storm, but luckily was able to finish the job early evening before the next rounds of weather showed up. The weeds are all evened out now We went to a friend's yesterday to see a newborn colt... she has a couple miniature horse mares and a stallion, so this baby is REALLY little! Cute little booger, and pretty sure on his feet for just a day old. Her other mare will foal probably in a week or so.

Linda, glad you had a great trip, and home! If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon, you really need to go, it's amazing. We went there almost 18 years ago, and really enjoyed the trip. There is quite a bit to see, it's a big ol' hole in the ground LOL! Also, if you like turquoise and silver, you can get some gorgeous pieces on the reservations for really reasonable prices. Look forward to talking to you again... enjoyed our chat last time!

Susan, glad you finally found us! I had to look around a bit before I found where they moved us, was surprised we went down to a sub-group. Hard to believe it's almost a year since that due-date contest! Time sure does fly. Have y'all warmed up finally?

Zip, that counting calories would drive me nuts, so much easier to LC for me. My cholesterol has come down with my diet, and although they could prescribe chol. meds to bring it the rest of the way, I refuse to take them because of the potential side affects. I'm rather attached to my internal organs and don't wish to jeopardize them! The biggest difference is how low my triglycerides are, which makes the chol. numbers not so important. Everyone has to do their own plan, hope the number crunching continues working for ya!

Shawnee, I know I really need to get some pics of the babies. If I get Bull clipped today (really need to!) I'll have to snap a few. I don't know how the groomers do it, even when we put her on a table, my back gets so sore from all the contortioning I have to do to clip that girl. She's not much help, lazy baby, but at least she doesn't put up a struggle! Hope you're having fun with the General! After so many big dogs, isn't it hard to keep track of a little one underfoot? Chuckster still pouting?

Loretta, I saw you mention your honeysuckle is already blooming, ours is budding now and I think it's strange ours didn't go first since we're farther south! We have the wild stuff growing in the ditches, and at night when I come home I slow down in certain places just to get a whiff of the fragrance! We also started some in the yard, and it's a must smell situation whenever you walk by Last year we got a variety that blooms more red, supposed to be really fragrant, and planted them under the kitchen windows by the table. We will soon find out if they're right about the smell!

Julie, enjoy your time with DGD! You can do lots of fun stuff with kids that age, and I'm sure she loves visiting y'all! How are you feeling?

Barb, cleaning NUDE??? LOL, not in this lifetime! Heck, it's hard enough for me to get motivated to clean! This is your last week of work, isn't it?

Hi to all our lurkers, everyone check in when you can!

Good morning everyone.
Guess Ginny and I were posting at the same time so please ignore my post.

Ginny, We had some storms pass through here last night about midnight. Some rain but lots of thunder.
Bet that baby horse was sooooo cute. All baby animals are just adorable!!

I'm just now drinking my 1st cup of coffee after sleeping in until 10:30. Boy did it feel good.Except for my first "step" on the darn scale. Still hanging on to that pesky 7 lbs.

We will be leaving soon for Nick's 1st birthday party but I'll be back later.

HI to all

Ginny I thought I had missed the Honeysuckle this year because it just seems to be blooming later for some reason. I see an occasionally red bush also but not as frequent as the Japanese. We have had quiet a cool down here. But we sure needed that rain. Cool on seeing that new born colt.

Good to see that you have returned Linda and enjoyed that trip. Thanks for the picture. You look like a little kid next to that giant rock. Enjoy that party today. Hope you get some pics. I found your statment about smoking and the polycythemia interesting:
"As for the polycythemia, cut the smokes. Smoking causes secondary polycythemia, I have it too and my blood counts straightened out when I cut down and may be completely normal now that I have quit. We shall see next month."

Shawnee do you smoke? I did not think that you did. I did not think that your 17 count was not that far out of line, well not way out of line. Have your hostas returned to their normal fullness by now. I just have 2 coming up. Both of them in pots.

Susun glad you found us. I had a problem that first time they moved us too. I thought for a min that they did away with us. Are you able to step over the gates?
Just how is that weight doing?

Barb just a few more days left of the old grind. Hope those kids have a nice graduation and wear some clothes under their robes. Pray for cool weather.
When is the race?

Hey to the rest of the bunch. Going to enjoy the day and hope you all do likewise.

Hi gang,
We gave our tickets away to MISS JULIE this afternoon and are going to stay home...I've seen the play by Strindberg twice and that's enough. Friends were happy to get them. We will watch a movie on disc from the library!

Remember the Basquiat earlier in the week...they just sold one for a good price (and it's as bad as all the others):
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/14/ar...n/14phil.html?

Weather is weird. Huge front of thunderstorms approached last night- we were supposed to get hammered- crossed into New Jersey and evaporated. Sunny and almost HOT this morning but the sky is looking threatening. NYC has its own weather.

Welcome back Linda, I grew up in PA but never ventured to Gettsyburg. I have a gasbag of a cousin from DE who was still fighting the Civil War 100 years later...listening to his yammering turned me off the subject forever. Grand Canyon is the ultimate neatness...forget the camera, only your EYES can do it justice. I was there in '68 but I imagine it hasn;t changed much...I doubt they REPAINT! (I hear the crowds are FURIOUSLY awful though!)
OY, Hoovering a bare foot sounds like an awful idea...or did you yell EUREKA!!
SOOO many congrats on giving up the evil weed. I didn't know about smoking and polycythemia...my sister (the human incinerator for the last 45 years) suffers from it and her doctor's don't know why...maybe they have Phillip Morris stock!

I mistakenly opened the window and the apartment is now filled with humid 80degree air...yeccchhh, but I won't turn the air on yet...in fact I just remembered I have to unwrap the bedroom unit.

To everyone a very nice day.

Morning, to me anyway. I didn't get out of bed until noon. Although I didn't sleep until 5:00 when I finally caved and took a Benedryl. Now am groggy and probably will be all day. That last anxiety pill made it worse when you can't sleep. None for me today. I think I'm done with pills. Last night when I was up all night, I remember my mother taking pill after pill counteracting the last pill she took. I WILL NOT BE MY MOTHER!!
Exercise may help me more. Lots of it and no side effects except good ones!

Guess that fish oil didn't help my cholesterol numbers. But my ratio is still good so won't worry about it. Now, maybe I can quit that pill too.

Linda, glad you had a great trip. We went to the G Canyon a few years back and it was very hot that I may not have enjoyed it as much had it been cooler. It was still GRAAND and was worth the trip. The Zion and Bryce Canyon National parks were every bit as spectacular in my opinion. So if you go, be sure to see these

Zip, how's the weight coming off? I keep seeing the same ole numbers on mine. MISS JULIE? Never heard of that one before. Must be great!

Loretta, your area must be so pretty. I would love to venture farther into your state sometime. I only went across a bridge one time into Kentucky to say I've been there.

Ginny, you sound busy as usual. That colt sounds so cute. Did you get a pic?
For pete's sake Ginny girl you're the youngester around here, you could go naked and not have your skin drag on the floor much easier than us Goldies.

Mariner game is in progress so will sign out for now. Catch ya late. Oh yeah, what happen to our new member, Liz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Julie,

yeah, 4 pounds off...nice!
I didn't care for Zion, but Bryce Canyon was the truly gorgeous, second only to YOSEMITE in the WOW factor. Bryce MUST be seen in full sun to see all the colors...Yosemite gorgeous even in a mist!

Guess what I found at Shop-Rite: owing to the growing Indian population of downtown Jersey City they just put in half an aisle of Indian groceries and there, right in front of my eyes, was a 2 pound bag of GRAM FLOUR ($2, a fair price)...also known as CHANA DAL FLOUR. As you fans of glycemic index, all all low carbers probably know, this stuff has the lowest glycemic index of any carby food on Earth, PROBABLY as low as meat.
I wonder how well it bakes? Anyhoo, here's a link to Mendosa's commentary on chana dal; it's interesting:
http://www.mendosa.com/chanadal.html

Ohhh, tonight DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES...is Rex dying? Will Carlos strangle Gabrielle for screwing the gardner every chance she gets. Will Susun and Mike wake the neighborhood with their make-up sex...tune in at 9PM EDT!
If anyone wants to play CATCH-UP, the videos on this site are GREAT:
http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/index.html

Til tomorrow kids!

Back from a very nice party. What a good little guy Nick is. Unfortunately my other gb, Stavie, age 6, fell off his scooter in his driveway on the way to the party and sustained a laceration to the side of his nose. Spent several hours in the ER waiting for a Plastic Surgeon but got a quick repair and was able to come to the party.

I'll try to post some pictures later if time permits.

Loretta, HA! You think your foliage is late blooming, you should see it around here. The tulips, apple trees and lilacs are just now blooming .
Hope you enjoyed your day. Did you go fishing?

Roger, don't let the gasbag of a cousin turn you off on that beautiful National Park. It is a very interesting and beautiful part of our history.
I'm almost at the point of leaving the camera home. Pictures don't do anything justice. Might just jog the memory though.

Yeah, your sister's doctor NEEDS to learn about that stuff. Here is a simple article on secondary polycythemia.http://www.chclibrary.org/micromed/00064670.html
I saw a Hematologist back in 1998 when my red blood cells had increased to over 17 and cut back from three packs a day to one. Blood work improved somewhat. Now I can't wait to see what it is after being off the smokes.

Get that air conditioner uncovered. It's going to get really HOT all of a sudden soon, I think. We usually don't have much of a spring and then it gets hot and humid. UGH!

Julie, OMG I feel so bad for you having such a problem sleeping. Meds are just awful and have far too many side effects for me. There has to be another solution for you.

Waving to Susan.

Shawnee, what's up with you today?

Waving to all.

Hey there Liz, glad you found us again. Seems we've lost the "pregnacy!"
I read your PM's and will respond soon.
Just get right back in that saddle again and you'll be fine. Parties are difficult.

Roger, love those Housewives....just like a soap opera but more juicy. We have watched it from the beginning and wouldn't miss it. Grey's Anatomy (Linda) afterwards is not bad either but I really miss Boston Legal. So mad they cut the season short but will be back next year. Best show I've seen in years. It has such great humor. Here's link to it.
http://abc.go.com/primetime/bostonlegal/

Bryce was my fav too. We've never been to Yosemite but will before we die.

No Linda, pics just don't do scenery pics justice. Just need to be there to enjoy it.
Poor Stavie, hope he'll be ok. Glad he didn't miss the party though. Kids are so resilient and pop right back up. Now if it had been us, hmmmm down for weeks or months!!

Off to go get my pork tenderloin out of the oven. Yummmmmmmmmm

Hi Y'all

OK, GINNY...you're gonna need Days of the Week panties too!
....LOL, I've been keeping track of when the Sixteenth comes, and it ain't today! (16th is DSon's Birthday)
Did you get the Pups gussied up? Yeah, its a chore for just one, let alone FIVE!
The General went home last night, so the Chuckster could have his house back...til the General returns Yeah, big difference having a miniPug around, as oposed to my usual moose-sized Labs. Still, anything that has 4 legs and barks is welcome here.

Went to DGDaughter's Bridal shower today...GAWD, she will have enough lingeire to keep things interesting for quite some time

Montana...geez, hope all's well now with your DGBrat!
Its TRUE, you look like a KID in your pic. For me, I just want to feed my eyes and soul at the scenic places, don't wanna hear any Tourist chatter. WOW, the lil cutie Guy is a year already!

Hey Liz...lock your lips on the end of a water hose, and wash out those carbs!

Zip, helluva deal on the CHANA DAL FLOUR. I don't knw much about it, other than it can be used as a thickener for soups, stews..
Here's something that sounds yummy:

NANKEEM CHILLA

2 cups of Besan (Chana Dal Flour)
1 medium Onion (grated or chopped)
2 Green Chilles (chopped)
1 clove of Garlic (grated)
Cilantro/Coriander Leaves (Hara Dhania) (chopped)
1 tsp of Cumin Seeds (Zeera)
1 tsp of Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
1 tsp. of Red Chilli Powder
Salt (to taste)
2 tsp. of Lime Juice
1 cup of Oil or Cooking Spray

1) Put the besan (chana dal flour) in a big bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds and mix well.

2) Now add onions, green chillis, garlic, cliantro, and lime juice. Mix this mixture by gradually adding water to form a thick batter.

3) Heat a nonstick pan or griddle on low heat. Grease nicely with oil or cooking spray and pour one big spoon of batter and spread to a thin round shape (just like traditional dosa.)

4) Pour a little oil around its edges and when the underside turns golden, turnover the chilla. Remove from the griddle when both sides turn golden.

Serving Suggestions: Serve Hot With: Chutney, Ketchup, Or Pickles
Degree of Difficulty: Easy
Recipe Category: Appetizer
Recipe Ethnic Group: Indian

..............

Shoot, gotta run
