Young at Heart MVM's on Wednesday

Good morning kids!

Overcast day today (rain I think by tonight) but temps in the 60's which is very nice.
I think I will RUN this morning...oh, how I hate running, but I did the stationary bike yesterday AND the upper body workout.

Barb, how are you coming with your 5K? Our building (the first) is a small one at 21 stories as is it's sister...the other 8 are all 35 stories but this new one (a condo) will probably be the Tower of Babel...they aren't disclosing its height. Probably a lot depends on the size of the "inducement" to City Hall for zoning variances. You know how THAT works!

Julie,
I thought PANIC from the get-go...you really SHOULD try 5 mg. Valium (diazepam.) I GUARANTEE you will like it very much!

Ginny,
I am soon going to have to get some advice on how to deliver Phonecia's "baby"...it already has aerial roots of its own and 4 strapping 6 inch leaves. Since Phonecia has gone quiescent blooming-wise I'm conjecturing that she's concentrating on "childbirth."

Loretta...
NOW I decide I need Niacin! Such timing...ONE day after PP replaced its 3 FOR 1 sale with a miserable 2 FOR 1!

Susun,
Are you home yet? How's hubby? I transformed my beef goulash into a nice curry yesterday. Too bad I ALWAYS make dreadful rice...how hard can it be but I CANNOT master it!

Linda,
ENJOY!

Pile drivers started at 8:15 today. I feel horrible for the one building that stands between us and the BANG-BANG...it mutes it a bit for us. A friend moved out of that building last month because she works at home (editing) and couldn't bear the thought of crashing all summer...I've had to listen to FOURTEEN high rise buildings being added since 1990 (counting the commercial buildings)!

DIET
I am DETERMINED to take my weight to 205#...I want to see my six-pack abs! I have been stuck at 215# for too, too long/ It seems to be my SET-POINT of setpoints. When I did Atkins, I lost 17 pounds to 215 and stayed there for 8 months (talk about a PLATEAU!), so I said "to HELL with it" and pulled out the calorie counter. I got down to 197# with calorie counting (and maybe 200 g. carbs a day) but looked bad (facially gaunt with lots of missing muscle...but the waistline looked great!) That was with no exercise to speak of.
Maybe THIS time, I can get to the 205# and keep the muscle mass since I'm working out hard.
Out with the HUGE pad again...and FAITHFUL 1900 calories/day (last entry was April 11.) Bob workin all May so I can skip breakfast...I NEVER get hungry til I eat something...just coffee this month!
Wish me luck!
Anyone want to JOIN me?

Mornin' all,

Looks like through the week it will be 80's and sunny Actually broke a sweat yesterday at work, not from working hard, mind you, just from it being warm!

Zip, please take a photo of Phonecia and her progeny, and I will tell you how to extract the young'un. It's not tough at all, sometimes just a bit of a waiting game

Hope all are having gorgeous weather and can get out to enjoy it!

Hi to all

Zip I placed a small order with the puritans for most of my regular supplements plus that nicacin. I am hoping to stay in stock until the next 3/1 sale. That noise must be nerve racking to say the least. It is so quiet here now with the siding done. Keep those windows shut. That might help some. You can do it. That 205, only 10 pounds away. Stay away from that crap that you seem to find. Save that stuff for once a month and a measured portion.

Julie hope you can get to the bottom of your problem. I agree with Barb about stopping those meds completely. I think you need to taper off. IMHO
Are you feeling better? Have they started with the halter monitor yet?

Ginny we have that nice warm stuff too. Sure helps the garden grow. Time to wash that Honda again. I had to take it in to have a missing button replaced on my seat belt, the one that keeps the belt buckle from falling to the floor. They had to order a whole new seat beat assembly. No charge for seat belt work. But I wanted it done right. I like my new Honda but keep looking for that clutch.

Barb you practicing up for that 5K? Will you be walking or running? I cannot run/jog very far but it is all uphill.

Shawnee any answers for you yet? Have your welts subsided? When is that wedding? Soon I hope. Honeysuckle is starting to bloom here now. That is my new avitar. I was surprised to see that what here is Japanese honeysuckle growing wild.

Later folks going OUTDOORS today.

Morning,

Feeling fine now but I haven't done anything that usually brings it on. Maybe I'll test the waters and go grocery shopping. Sometimes if I have to wait in line or run into someone I know and stand there and talk for awhile, I'll get faint feeling, shaky and hot. Got an appt. for next Tuesday at mental health but the Dr. will call tomorrow (yeah right!) and maybe we can figure it out over the phone. Finally found an antidepressant I could take that wouldn't kick in the RLS...thats what pi$$es me off so bad. Now we have to go back to square one with trial and error. I've tried about 6 different ones so far and no go!!!

Thyroid was ok and cholesteral results were
Chol..214
HDL..68
LDL..119
Trig..169 ..EEK
Ratio..3.4

So how do I get my Trig. down? I am disappointed as I have been on the fish oil since last summer. CRAPolla

SS is going to call this morning and Chuck and I are both signing up. He won't get much with his federal retirement already. I'll go with mine as it's more than what I can get from him. Mine still isn't much but hey, fun money is the way I look at it.

Zip, I need to lose 5# as always. So how do you want to do it? Have a time limit or what? I need someone to spur me on. I just can't get back to losing again. Dang, at almost 62 you'd think we wouldn't be having to do this anymore! chit!!!!!!!!

Loretta, love your new avatar! So pretty and I bet it does smell wonderful.
Too late about tapering off the Wellbutrin, I stopped it a week ago last
Sunday. They told me I could!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't believe everything you hear!!!!!!!!!!!! I looked all over the net and my drug instructions and it doesn't say anywhere on this particular one that you have to taper...

Barb, Snow? My gosh I think you'd be wanting to move to sunny California by now...

Best get dressed so the SS person won't be shocked.

Hi Y'all

Sending to ALL who could use a few.

Julie, so glad ya found a med that you can live with In general, people just don't understand what stress and anxiety can do to the mind and body ...unless they have experienced it first -hand themselves. Keep improving!
Interestingly, the few full-blown panic attacks I've experienced in public have been exactly how and where you described.

Loretta, Love that Honeysuckle. Noticed on the Golden the other day, you were not feeling well...hope ya are all better now. Being outside helps so much, huh? The wedding is May 28, still more work to do on cake....so far I've used 4 1/2 lbs of damned powered sugar just on the 4 large lower layers...but I've decided to cut myself some slack (plus many hours of work and stress) by using artificial flowers instead of hand-formed ones.

I feel I've opened up a can of worms, seeking answers to the Thyroid-hives connection. The TPO test I had to argue for, which the dr had omitted, along with 2 other tests in the first series...well, it proved out my theory: my thyroid antibodies are screwed up good.
The TPO lab range is under 35....mine is 91 The results from various tests are being faxed to the Endo/Thyroid Dr at OHSU Portland; she will do evaluations, then call me in.
I had blood drawn last Thursday, again Sat., then again Monday, as test results are reaffirmed, and/or new ones needed.
One I was not pleased about was the CBC, which was redone also...showed my Red count elevated...supposed to be (for women) between 12-16. Mine was 17.8
Getting a referral to an Oncologist when my Dr gets it set up. Trying to stay calm about it. It ain't over til the fat lady sings.

Contentment to all

Shawnee

Gee Shawnee, will keep you in our prayers sweetie. Don't ya feel if we just knew what the hell was going on that we would feel more at peace? It's the unknown that get's to us. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and hope all the test turn out ok. So what can they do about the thyroid? Can that be helped by med changes?

Maybe I didn't explain it right...I had found a med to help me but now I won't be able to continue it. It causes dry mouth and consequently was giving me blisters inside my mouth. That's why I had to quit it.

Loretta, so what's going on with you? Fill us in kiddo.

Evening folks.......

Well, we had a cold front move into the state so all precip is getting thicker than water!!

I like that "young at heart" stuff!!

I've been doing 3 miles on the weekend - running!! During the week, only treadmill for 30 minutes. My PROBLEM is any kind of elevation! I know that I live at 6500 ft. but...... don't slope any it.

Diet, diet, diet, why are you calorie counting Zip, instead of Atkins? Doesn't sound to me (I have been wrong on occasion) as if you lose that way but do when you cut carbs. I think it's that dark chocolate that you refuse to just send to me!! Or, a couple of drinks every night (as I walk over to refill my goblet).

Julie, I have NEVER heard of going off most meds suddenly! It doesn't even make sense (to this professional pharmacist). I hope you find a new med - sounds like you really do have panic attacks. Do you see a counselor at all? We have several kiddos with test anxiety and they see the school counselor and are improving! One of them told me that they practice saying to themselves: is this the worse thing that could happen to me?" Usually when faced with a situation that they don't feel they can deal with and panic. I know one student (will test with me) who comes to a problem that she doesn't think she knows what to do, so she paces the floor, sweats, and chews on a pencil (lead poisoning) until gets calm enough to work. It's real!!

Shawnee, hope you get answers also!! Sometimes we have to hit the botton before we rise! Thyroid is something that seems so complicated to me -- everyone is so different.

Loretta, if you run uphill, I am green with envy. Of course, you ARE at a much lower elevation. The air is getting a little thin up here.

Linda, Ginny, SuSUN, enjoy your day! Oooops...... maybe tomorrow!

Jacki, what are you doing? Still working on the house?

Barb

Barb, from what I understand, panic attacks come for no apparent reason. I have no idea why or when I will get one. Talking to someone in the store? No reason for it to occur...When there is a good reason, it's normal (fight or flight...adrenalin rush) but it's when there is no reason, then it's called panic attacks. Am I explaining this correct? I feel no panic, or fear or anything.
