New Maintainers - Wk of 5/8
I am sorry I didn't get back to post on last week's thread. I worked extra hours and we had extra events going on at church last Sunday-Wed. I will be working 3 days this week. Glad to be off work today because we are having the best weather today that we have had so far this year. I overate this weekend. I had homemade chili with beans on Saturday plus I ate too much cheese during the day and Sunday I ate 2 pieces of pie.
My wt has gone from 110 on Saturday to 114.50 this morning. That is the highest wt I have been since Christmas. Today I will be doing a liquid fast and eating eggs (scrambled or as a mock danish) if I get too hungry. Vickie

Good Morning all - sorry I was MIA all weekend. Company is still here - will be leaving mid-morning but I need to work. I will read up and check in tonight.
P.S. I had such a hard time finding the thread - we are buried with the new system. Would anyone think about moving to the challenge forum? I would love to hear how other people are transitioning into maintenance and I can't believe anyone would find us under here. |

Janina, hope you can find the new thread! The way they have the categories split up is confusing. I think it is harder to find the Maintain Lane. Guess we will get used to it. I need to go back and read the last thread but when are you having the eye surgery? I would like to have that done as well. My eyelids droop and I hate it.
Va, hope things will settle down for you now that the company is gone. Are you thinking about a "maintain challenge" or just move the new maintainers thread to the challenge board? I know there are a lot of maintainers out there and it would be good if more posters would share their experience at maintaining. My wt is at 111.50 after a day of fasting (water, diet cola, coffee). I will need to be careful today. I did a lot of strenuous activity in the garden Monday but had lots of energy even though I didn't eat. I will be working 9am-4pm today and will get back to some gardening chores when I get home. Vickie |

Hi girls - Hope everyone is doing better. I'm preparing to fly to sunny CA for a few days with DH. Our daughter is treating us to a trip and I am really looking forward to it. I'm hoping and praying I will at least be good enough to maintain my weight. Hope everyone has a good week and I'll check back after my trip. Take care, Granny Ann

I agree; it was hard to find this thread! (or am I just old??)
Have a great trip, Ann. We'll miss you, but hope its a nice relaxing time for you and your DH. Better day today, VA? Are you back on track? I HOPE?? Vickie, I hope things are going better for you too!! Janina, where are you?? As for me, I'm back to working 6 hours a day now .. working my way back up to 8 hour days after being on disability for 3 months. Its tough, but I am feeling so much better now, I think I can make it. Plus, my boss offered me a 12% raise today, so that helps!! Still running ... got a new pair of NB today from onlineshoes.com. New style, but they feel great. I'll give them their trial RUN (literally) tomorrow for 8 miles. I'm so excited, I got a running buddy at work now .. we're officially gonna run 3 days a week at lunch time. She used to run a long time ago and I've persuaded her to get back into it. She's so psyched and I'm thrilled for her. We'll start her off slow .. maybe 2.5 miles a day and see how it goes. She's got a HRM and new shoes and she's ready to go!! Its neat to see her so excited. She's also doing WW and has lost over 10 pounds already. Well, off to dinner soon. I haven't been eating much lately and need some good food!! Have a great one, everybody! Betty

Vickie - I was just thinking of the New Maintainers thread - start a new thread in the challenge forum next week instead of here.
Betty - You sound great! A bet a running buddy will be super - I really with I had a workout buddy - other than DH! DDs schedules are keeping me very busy and work is nuts too. I did get a run in today - yeah! I am up 4.5 pounds and hope to have it off in a week. I usually lose 2 pounds of just water after I eat badly for a few days but then the rest I will need to sweat off! |

VA, I have no doubt you will sweat off the gain ... NO DOUBT!
I am so excited about having a running buddy ... its great when you find someone turned on to exercise like you are ... I wish DH would run with me, but he's just not into running... bless his heart, he does ride the bike behind me on my long Saturday morning runs cuz he's worried something might happen to me ... I love him so!! Just wish he'd commit to exercise more!! But is there any hope I can change him after 28 blissful years of marriage? DOUBTFUL!!! He's a saint and I love him to death!!Have a great Wednesday everyone! Betty |

Ann, have a great trip! Do the best you can with the eating.
Betty, congrats on the raise! Also glad you have a running buddy. It definitely helps to have someone to exercise with. I can put next week's thread on the Challenge Board and see how it goes. I will post a notice here that we have moved to the CB. I had a limited amount of food today and feel so much better. I will continue with mostly protein and limiting calories (drats! I was so determined not to count calories) for the rest of the week. I am now through with work until next Thursday. I am looking forward to more gardening time. Have a great Wednesday everyone. Vickie - Have fun in your garden. I got 5 of the 25+ plants I have purchased in the ground. Now I need to keep the rest alive until this weekend when I get some time.
Betty - Get some running in for me too. I got a short one in yesterday. My running, along with very limited eating has already gotten me back to 131.8. I will do this for a few more days and then get back to maintaining. I also need to find the time to kick my exercise back up, especially my lifting, to make more progress on my muscles. Oh well, next week! |

Hey guys!! Happy hump day!! I'm still at work (its 12:20), but will be leaving in 45 minutes and heading out for my 8 mile maiden voyage in the new shoes!!
Can't wait to get out there!! DD has been wimping out on me lately and only going 4 or 5 miles ... wassup with that? Too many carbs, that's what!! So I told her today she goes the 8 MILES, NO EXCUSES and to eat healthy, not that junk food that slows her down and makes her feel sick. She's like 'Mom, you are such a slave driver...' Vickie, I need to do some planting in the front yard .. no flowers there yet .. and I have NO EXCUSE .. our weather has been perfect, I'm just more into running than planting I guess!! The backyard looks pretty good and tropical .. all the palms are doing well and the pond is looking very nice these days. The fishies are happy little campers, although always HUNGRY!I love sitting out there and watching them. Well the boss is very happy that I've decided to return to full-time work and stay in our dept. Its a good group of folks (liberal environmentalists, but I can't hold that against 'em!!) I think I just let the stress get to me too much last year which led me down the depression path. I've learned alot since then about myself and my limitations ... and thanks to Janina and her advice to limit exposure to toxic people, that has helped ALOT. So I think I'll do okay working more hours. At least I hope so. I don't plan to cut back my running though .. it really helps me handle the stress!!! And I GOTTA BE READY FOR THAT HALF MARATHON!! Happy trails to all! Betty |

OK it works....
I agree with you guys..how are any new maintainers going to find us..should we start a challenge thread? I think we would have more people join..what do you guys think My plan..what plan? I have been eating carbs but not overeating. Still haven't got tom. Took a pg test the other day. I do have an IUD but we know that can fail. I am not overly hungry but the thought of protein just doesn't do it for me. I am 110 which is my top maintain weight. OK with that, since i am holding water. I think we are all learning this is a balance and we gain and lose and get back on track. Vickie, I am doin the eyelid surgery after Avas bday June 19th. I hear I will always have light scars in my crease but it is better then the droopy lids. I will keep you all posted on every step of the way. I am sorry about the gain. i know you will take it off. You always do..so frustrating!!!! GRRRR Betty, that is the sweetest about your dh worrying about you. I don't blame him, there are alot of nuts out there and once someone sees yuor pattern then you always have to watch it!!! VA, good job getting back to 131. You always do so well with plan! Ann, have a terrific time in CA..it is gorgeous here now. I am excited for you. wheres Brenda..we need to find her!!! More later Janina

Hi all,, I am here finally. I had a busy weekend,, went and ran a 5k race on Sat. with my dh and son, it was for a good cause,,the boys and girls club, there was a 10k too but we decided to do the 5k as we did not think our son would last the 10k, well to make a long story short, I won first place for 1st female across the finish line in the 5k and I won 100$ How cool was that!! Today I ran 7 miles. I am sure it wont happen again, I guess all the fast runner did the 10k,, lucky for me..
Vickie and Va, I to need to get some planting done also,, we usually have pretty much everything planted by now,, but the weather has been so yucky and with working on the kitchen, we just have not had the time. My DH is taking a week off next week and he will get alot of it done then. He is the best planter,, everything he plants grows,, me,, not so great. haha. I am up in weight really bad,, lately i t has been 119,, I dont know what the heck is going on, I am eating the same, I still limit my carbs and barely touch sugar, and never eat potatoes, rice or white bread.,, I just dont get it. I am trying to cut sodium way down, as I bloat up really bad. Vickie,, your fish pond sounds nice, my dad has 2 of them, we always think about putting on in ,, but we have enough to do around here, so maybe later. My only running partner is my Dh. During the week I run alone,, we live in the amish country, so I usually see amish when I am out,, very little traffic on the road I run on, but I do carry pepper spray as the houses are so far apart, on a 2 mile stretch there is only about 6 houses as most of them are farms. That is nice that you will have another partner besides your daughter. Janina,, are you going to do before and after pics of your eyes?? It would be cool to see the difference. I take it the test was negative?? Well I have been cooking for the last hour, I need to do some cleaning. I work 13 hours the next 2 so I made tacos for the son and chile for the dh,, so they are set, if I dont make them somehting they eat junk or pizza. So sometimes I plan ahead for them. I will check back in later,, see ya, Brenda |

Brenda - My DH is terrific but will only plant 'big' stuff - he won't do any of the annuals. That is my job!
Janina - Glad you found us. I want to see before and afters too - I will help you post them. I worked late last night and have lots to do today again so I better get to it. I do plan on getting in a run today - I did no exercise yesterday and feel a bit blobby! |

Janina, glad you found the thread! When I start the new thread for next week, I will put it on the Challenge Board (after all it is a challenge to maintain
). I will put a thread here to let people know we are on the challenge board. My wt was at 110.75 Thursday morning. Just got in a 2 mi jog/fast walk Thursday. Friday will be doing more gardening but I must take the time to get in a good workout. Have a great Friday everyone! Vickie |

I am down to 131 this morning. My muscles are really sore in a good way so I might even be retaining some water. My hip flexors have really been sore after running lately - really odd. Yeah it is Friday. LilDD has her best friend coming over tonight for a sleepover. I don’t know why I said yes but she asks so infrequently and before I knew it, it was all set. That will really impact the weekend. We are hoping to go out for a quiet Mother’s Day celebration (one where I am not the servant) and I need to get my plants into the ground and have more I need to buy.
Much work to do - we have a code freeze next week so I have lots to do. P.S. Brenda - I have not forgotten about posting the peanut butter cookie recipe - I just need to find the time to type it up. I LCed it by combining several regular recipes and subbing the sugar and flour. |

Hey, it seems we all must be busy! How are you guys? I toook a pg test and I am not pg. I am just having an extra long pms. I am 110 and have been eating whatever I want. I don't really get it. It is such a struggle for me to lose the last 5 lbs. I am at top maintain weight and still fit in size 25 jeans(0/2) but at 110 I do have a bit extra on my tummy. i am starting to wonder if 110 is an ok weight to be and it just seems to be so much work to get to 105 and everyone think I look almost the same at 110..hmm I need to think about this? i do want to be 105. Maybe after tom I will lose a bit of water. I have been more active lately and I think that is what is keeping my weight at 110 and not going over.
So what are you up to this weekend??? I just bought the hottest dress and B and I are going out tomorrow night(my dress is on bebe.com..it is the black one that laces up the back) House of Blues is opening in SD and it is opening weekend. We might try to get in. Ava will be at my moms. i want to do something daring and young with my dh. I will definately post before and after photos. I will take some photos now but I need to wait three months I think for my surgery. This is why..a new dr(the one who is doing my eyes) did my botox this last time. i do it every 4 months. Anyways he did such a good job on it that alot of the droop is gone. I will take naked eyes photos now, then before surgery and then after. For any of you wanting to see how a mini forhead lift would look you can get great results with botox. Botex has saved my life as I used to get terrible migranes and now rarely get them. I had two deep furrow lines and they are gone. My faces is now trained not to use those muscles and even when botox wears off, i don't have furrows. Va, what are you doing this weekend? how is the family? good job on 131! Betty, hi lady, is it boiling there yet? It was 80 today and A and I were swimming..did I tell you guys i taught her to swim..what a relief. How many miles this week? Brenda, how nice to live in such an open area!! You and dh going for a Harley ride this weekend? I hear you on the frustration of gaining for no apparent reason..howhas your weight been the last couple days? Vickie, whew glad you got back down to 110..did you have a good day gardening? Ann, weather is great in CA..bet you are having a blast! |

OK so I am beginning to think there is no rhyme or reason to my weight. I have been off of plan for about a week. I have been eating carbs but more active. I am 109 today with about 2 lbs extra water weight because I still haven't got tom...crazy.
Yesterday i ate B one donut with A after her dance class snack 3 chocolates out of box d three small pieces pizza and large salad. I ate this and carbs all week and I am down..whats up!!! I am seriously going to try to get more activity in my day. When I work out I gain muscle weight, when i am active I lose weight. any of you confused as I am about our bodies and gaining and losing? I remeber when Vickie did all protein and gained? Does it boil down to calories and burning calories at maitence weight? Have a terrific weekend you guys..B and I are going to relax by the pool it is 80s with a breeze in my backyard! Janina |

Janina, I think sometimes having a lot of carbs will shock the body so that you do lose instead of gain. Staying active will allow you to have more carbs.
The last couple of days I have been eating natural peanut butter again plus more cheese than I would normally eat. I am up to 111.75 but for the amount of food I have been eating, I am surprised it is not more. Sometimes I think I will just give in and resign myself to maintaining between 109-114 but I just can't give up that easy. The weight above 110 shows on my stomach. I know those are vanity lbs but I just feel better between 107-110. Betty, congrats on those miles. I really must get back in a daily schedule for my jog/fast walk. Glad you like your new shoes. Do you have an indoor track where you can run when it rains or do you just run in the rain? Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Vickie |

Shhh - don’t tell my DH that I read the threads I missed rather than did housework, he is working in the yard.
Betty - I really wish our area was more running friendly - just too windy and hilly for me. BigDD ran on the treadmill yesterday - I was so excited! I hope I can get her to keep it up. I would love to have a running buddy. Vickie - Do you keep your natural pb in the fridge? We just bought some and I was surprised that it says to refrigerate. I wonder how spreadable it will be - Janina - I think for those of us at goal and very slender it is all calories in vs. calories out. I can gain easily on just lc foods and lose on higher carb foods (like fruit). I am up this morning but it is from eating some popcorn last night - I expect to be down tomorrow after the extra water that it is holding onto leaves. I really want to be under 130 but am trying not to be over fixated with the scale and concentrate on how my jeans fit and how I feel. I am feeling a bit flabby because I have not been working out as much as I like to. DDs are still working on homework. Very little got done yesterday morning with lilDDs friend here. Once she left, I got my plants in the ground and then DH and I did errands and got home just in time for a big storm. It was so cool, we all sat in the sun room and watched the rain come in waves across the pond. There was terrific lightning and even hail. It cleared in time for dinner and we all ate on the screened in porch. Anyway, if DDs get their work done, we will go out for an early dinner as our Mother’s Day celebration. I need to get my chores done, workout and bake cupcakes for a bake sale that lilDDs class is holding tomorrow. |

Hi all,,,,,, Hope everyone is having agreat weekend.. We did get to go out on the harley for a little while yesterday,, it was nice and warm, but windy. Today has been spent going to church,, making some LC sourdough bread, deviled eggs,,, a lc hot fudge cake for my dh as it is his bday tomorrow, and cleaning. My dh is working on our kitchen breakfast bar that we are putting in,, I told him not to work to hard as it is almost his bday,, and he said he has got to get done so he can relax,, we are going out to dinner later for his bday as I have to work tomorrow. I am at 117 today, I too think that the calories are the main problem now,, I really have to watch what I eat as they tend to add up quick. I keep my natural peanut butter in the fridge and it is hard to spread, I stirred the oil back into it instead of pouring it off this time and that helps it to be softer but it adds up the calories Way to go Betty, I always love getting new running shoes. , It is just like Christmas. your mileage is great. Well I am going to go and finish up some cleaning and go out s hopping with my son as we got to get some bday presents.... brenda

Janina - Vickie had said she would start a new thread under Challenges but I did not see one today. If I have time, I will start one tomorrow. Too busy with work and DDs right now -
