Saturday for the MVM
Good early morning everyone.
I got irresistably sleepy from the half hour on the exercise bike so I crashed at 9:30 PM (rare for me)...but except for one pee run, I slept through til 6 AM. Julie, So sorry you had such a miserable time...6 hours in the E/R is a horror indeed. Good news was NO HEART ATTACK (palpitations and nausea are a bad combo for a woman.) Sounds like a panic attack to me; you know what I'd recommend . The Holter will tell if you have any rhythm irregularities.Do you take any BP meds? Plans this weekend : NOTHING <Hurrah>! It looks like 2 days of rain anyway. If we can contact 2 friends we haven't seen in months maybe we'll drive to some NJ restaurant...or NOT! Have a nice weekend all. ![]()

Morning folks.......
OMG Julie, that would be enough to give one a panic attack. Heart problems in your family? I have the same questions as Zip - BP meds? My FIL would have panic attacks and it was related congested heart failure. Hope you find the answer soon. Shawnee, hope you also get some answers. I didn't know the symtoms of hypo... until the doc looked at me and said let's check the TSH. I'm beginning to feel a lot better. More energy, sleep all night, skin doesn't feel as if little bugs were crawling all over me!! Zip, a weekend without doing anything sounds great! I always want to curl up with a book when it rains. You probably have a run-down metabolism also if you are that tired!! Later....... coffee is calling my name! Barb

Good morning to the Geriatric Brigade (and to our exception, young Ginny)
![]() Julie, So sorry you had to go thru that experience.Barb, glad you're seeing an improvement Are you on a synthetic or Armour? Was back to the hospital Lab this AM for another draw; only 2 sheets of orders had been faxed to them, not the 3rd one...the goings-on there, just plain scarey! If/when all the tests actually get done, my doc will fax them to my FIRST CHOICE Endo in Portland...a woman doc (female docs relate better to hormonal issues) ..who specializes in thyroid and pituitary diseases.Zip,enjoy your lazy weekend. sounds like a time to snuggle with a good book. We'll be headed out into the country for a lil May Day celebration. We're hooked on those pup and pony parades ![]() To ALL, have a content day Shawnee

Hi
Sheesh, !!!! lots of crumby health issues going on here. I feel much better and my ailment list seems to be mild by comparison. I like your statment Shawnee: Geriatric Brigade I think the longer we live the more that crops up as our bodies skip a beat and falter. Julie that must have been so scary, that ER experience. Hope they get some answers for you. There is reassurance in answers themselves. At least that will give you something to work with. As in Shawnees case too. Hope that new lab work proves to be beneficial in shedding some light on your "welts". I did not know that the thyroid gland could produce so many problems. How about a thyroidectomy and then just take rx.? Probably too severe. Evidently the blame thing is not working right. to those of you needing it.Had a great time with Leah yesterday. We went to visit a friend of mine who has just moved her mom with early Alzhiemrs (Sp) into her home. I brought her some of Ginny's shower gels and lotion so she can pamper herself. She will need pampering. The visit went all to fast and Leah seemed to enjoy herself too. Leah's folks got granny moved and called around dinner time to say they were about to pick up Leah. I had defrosted extra crappie so we had a nice and easy dinner. Zip they are heirloom tomatoes but I sure don't know the name of them. We will question Leon (dh's cousin that gave us the tomatoes last year) I had trouble finding the seeds to begin with in the toms he gave us to sample and those I did I saved. I am amazed they are doing so well. I think they all came up. I have had to throw some of the littlier seedlings away. Some other I stuck right in the soil. We don't have that big of a garden and usually just plant about 6 toms. Barb do you just have the one daughter that is away at school? I don't remember you mentioning any other children. I am just too gabby today. Later, folks. ALL of you MOMS, have a nice Mother's Day tomorrow. Last edited by Loretta V : 05-07-2005 at 10:04 AM. |

Loretta,
I remember from my teen years, the tomato I found most delicious was the OXHEART. If I EVER get some dirt, those are the seeds I'd seek out. Damn Burpee is determined to stamp out every seed on the planet except those that they sell. I wish you luck with your seedlings...they look strong. Cute pic of Leah. Shawnee, You shouldn't CHUG that gallon of gin; it's not ladylike...put an umbrella in it! No rain yet????? |

Hello Gang!
Just running in as I am off to DD's agin to babysit while they go out for dinner with two other couples. DD is officially celebrating her first Mother's Day tonight. All those sad years that she couldn't...she is making up for now! So sorry to hear about the Health issues. Yes, as we get older we do fall prey to stuff. and to all the Maintaining Geriatrics! WE sure do need them more often these days.I am struggling with the extra weight gain still. I had a Dr's appointment on Wednesday at the B. Ca clinic and he asked how I was doing on the prometrium, big side effect weight gain, as it is a steriod, not sure what to do, to continue on it or not. Seeing my Gyne on Monday want to check alternatives, she mentioned removing my ovaries to remove the Estrogen rich body that I have. Seems a bit drastic to me. The med route is working but dont want to look like a horse either.Lovely Sunny day up here today. DH has been slowly getting his gardening gear out of the shed for the season today. He is alot slower than usual but I know he enjoys all that stuff. He has a date now for his Sx May 25th. A discectomy and laminectomy are planned. His disc has gone forward compressing his spine instead of the usual herniated leaning outward on the nerves causing pain. He has no pain just weakness and lots of slowed missed messages.Roger, LOVE the chuckle bout Shawnee chugging that gin! Maybe, that's the cause of those welts! I think they are called Juniper Hives! I know I have lots of reading to catch up on the posts. SuSUN ![]() Last edited by SuSUN : 05-07-2005 at 03:24 PM. |

Hi,
To answer some of you, no, I don't take any bp meds. It does soiund like panic attacks to me too. Altjhough I didn't feel any fear. I had just gone off my antidepressant med last Sunday to see if my dry mouth problems would clear up. It was causing little blisters. Well, it seems to be fine now, the blisters. I called the doc and she said I could go off them for a few days so maybe this is the reason. Still seems like blood sugar problem to me too. Maybe I would just rather it be bs than panic attacks. Sounds better than being nuts! GERD is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Acid reflux to me... I've been on Prilosec for quite some time but it's been bothering me again. I'm just a mess! Kids and DGkids justs left so am relaxing until our friends drop off their dog for the rest of the day. Then off to church, home again to rest! I love the resting part! Tomorrow will be another relaxing day at DD. Hope everyone has a nice Mom's day except Zip. What day can you celebrate??

Evening folks.......
Julie, your doctor must know he/she is doing but, I always thought that you shouldn't go off antidep. at once but only gradually. It's a wonder our bodies survive as long as they do -- what we put them through!! I didn't know that was gin, maybe vodka or run - straight from the Captain!! Shawnee, I'm on Levoxyl - almost 2 months and blood work at that time. Lorretta, one daughter in grad. school. By the time we had decided to get married we only wanted one! SuSUN, Prometruim is a hormone? Isn't that one of the natural ones? I just started taking "natural hormone creams" to get some prog. and estrogen back into my body. I'm tricking my body into thinking it's 20 again! The picture of Leah is way too cute!! Barb |

Good evening everybody. Seems that I just napped off and on all day and never made it to the computer. Woke still sleepy, with puffy eyes and a dull headache. UGH!! Spring allergies.
Tomorrow we are taking both moms out for dinner. Hope it's not too crowded. Roger, could your extra sleepiness be allergy related too or thyroid problems? Hope you got to enjoy kicking back and doing NOTHING today. Where in Jersey would you and your friends go? LOL DH and I are thinking of another trip someplace before the 1st of June. Dear Heaven Julie! No matter what the ER docs said, I would get to a good cardiologist to R/O any cardiac problems . It can't hurt and women generally present with symptoms very different from a male. My God Shawnee. That list of thyroid symptoms covers EVERYTHING! I hope the female doctor can get to the bottom of your problems and get you straightened out. Enjoy those pup and pony parades and remember that we want pictures. Barb, it's good to hear that you are finally starting to feel better. Hope those new meds continue to do the trick. Oh yeah ESTROGEN Susan,Sorry that med is causing a weight gain. Bummer but maybe you do want to think about having the ovaries removed. They do it as an out patient through the scope these days so it's not so hard on the ol body. Loretta, that new picture of Leah is so darn cute. What a little Doll she is.Glad you had a good time with her yesterday. They are so much fun at that age. I am really enjoying Nick now, before the terrible 2's hit. :Waving to Ginny and the rest. I'm in need of more couch time. |

Hey gang,
We had a gorgeous day here, 70's and sunny ![]() Julie, OMG on that ER visit and it's reasons! It could very well be from going cold turkey on the antidepressant.... but better be checked out by a good heart dr. to be sure. I've only had one episode of 'heart irregularity', not even sure what to call it, but when I went to the dr and had an EKG done, there wasn't any type of problem showing up. Of course, that was right when I started with night sweats and hot flashes too, so I got the whole workup It was a very scary thing to have happen!Linda, Home!!! Glad to see you back here (where you belong!). If you take many more of these vacations, we'll start requiring you carry a laptop LOL! Sounds like y'all had a wonderful time, hope you've caught up on your rest.Loretta, Leah sure is growing! She's quite the cutie and looks like a happy young'un too. Hope your friend enjoys the pampering products, she'll need to have little 'get aways' like that now that she's dealing with an Alzheimer's sufferer. I dare not tell DH about your crappie stash, he'll want to go on a raid! Barb, hope your work week went well, it's always a crapshoot after you come back from vacation. Not too much longer and you'll be off for the summer. I sure envy that! I haven't had a summer off in probably 12 years! Zip, enjoy your weekend 'off' Rainy days like that make me curl up with either a book or the computer...Shawnee, hope you had fun with your May Day outing! In our running's around today if we hadn't been in a hurry we'd have had a bunch of yard sales to stop at It's that season here, and we both enjoy snoopin' around others junk LOL. When do you think you'll get your results back? Sure glad you're going to get to see the doc of your choice, just hope she's all that and a bag of (LC) chips!Susan, sounds like they're moving along now with your DH's sx now that they've figured out what the trouble is. I would be very nervous for that kind of surgery, but there's not much of an alternative. Hugs to you both as it draws near. Congrats to your DD on her first official Mother's Day! Almost forgot to include a bit of a pupdate... Bub is holding his own quite well, we do think he's improved as much as he ever will. He's a happy boy, it seems, and he's figured out his limitations so he doesn't crash land very often now unless one of the others 'helps'. The whole gang is shedding like crazy and they all enjoyed a good brushing today. When they come in for the night, except Bub of course since he prefers to be out, I'm sure the birds will help themselves to some wonderful nesting materials! Bull had her 13th birthday on the 5th, and she got to be inside by herself and had her very own steak bone as a special treat. She enjoyed that thoroughly! Off to lurk for a bit,
