Wed, April 6 for the MVM's

Best get this up before I fall asleep.

Tomorrow will be more running around and enjoying the sun before the rain starts again. Need to get some groceries and plan for my brother's visit in a couple of weeks.

Gerard went to Wally world tonight and came home with a bunch of low carb mixes at $.50 a box. Seems that Wally world is not going to carry low carb products any longer. Oh well. Darn things are full of soy anyway. He is gloating since his allergy tests indicated no allergy to soy darn him.

Check these places out and see what you think. We are getting anxious to get out of Dodge for a few days.

This has several places and is really great. been there before.Anyone interested in coming with us?

Roger, please tell us that you aren't getting what Bob has and that he is getting better.

See everyone later.

Morning to all......

Maybe those meds are starting to work (hypo) because I'm wide awake and ready to go and slept last night!!

Linda, I liked the Desmond House the best but some of those other layouts were really neat. The Amish Countryside would be nice and peaceful -- how about weather at this time of the year? You might need a fireplace.

Loretta, your company might get the idea if YOU go to a motel for some rest!!

Zip, are you getting this crud? People here are really sick with sinus infections and lung infections at the same time.

Waving to all to follow.........

Barb

Hi Linda, Barb and all.

I'm feeling kind of glum and achey this morning but I don't think it's Bob's cold. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I SO dread it, that's probably why I feel sour. WHatever I say, he contradicts and then says the STUPIDEST things imaginable that I like to scream out "Do you REALIZE what a total asphole you are."
All I want is for a refill of the meds I've been taking for a hundred years WITHOUT ANY COMMENTS, referrals to my cardiologist and my sports doctor for a finger shot of cortisone. (I must double check to see that both are practicing and taking Oxford.) I will ASK whether
e Mr. GP can handle the shot but I am nearly certain he hasn't a CLUE!

Loretta,
OY, that car is a MESS...but where it's not smashed I can see it's still nice and shiny! Glad the insurance company coughed up a fairer amount.

Hmm, flooding.
Here's some pictures of the Delaware River at Easton, PA and Phillipsburg, NJ (photo gallery on left.) That underwater bridge shot is a doozy:
http://www.mcall.com/news/yahoo/all-...-yahoo-nws-hed
We're getting 70 degrees today and no rain for 7 days...HOORAY!

Run Away if you don't want a papal rant.
So, you're all enamoured of the Pope. My feeling is that he was a man who sat in regal splendor for half a century and spent all his efforts trying to take the church back to the Dark Ages and certainly to dismantle everything the only GOOD pope of my time, John XXIII, tried to establish with VATICAN II. JP2 reiterated the "sanctity of marriage" resulting in more Catholic divorces today than when he took over. He continued the blind man's view of birth control while Catholics continue to have smaller and smaller families. He crammed the nonsense of "celibacy" down priests' throats, and then worked in dark corridors to keep a lid on the ever increasing reports of priestly child molestation by paying out BILLIONS in hush money. This kind of governance sounds a LOT like hypocrisy. A SAINTLY person would have had HIMSELF horsewhipped in St.Peter's Square, not fired ONE U.S. Cardinal...after all, the POPE, the Bishop of ROME, is the INFALLIBLE head of the Church, not the Bishop of Boston.
As an overall result of his leadership, vocations in formerly rock solidly Catholic countries like Ireland have dwindled to near nothing.
He tried to set the role of women back 100 years and wants only hard-working stupid nuns to do the men's dirty work, not intelligent women working within the church hierarchy. His continued vulgar approach to the subject of homosexuality shows that any conceivable state-church union would again have people being burned on bonfires for what they do in their beds.
The man talked about the "poor" while he did NOTHING for them. He spoke of the evil of war and the horror of government executions but never spoke against those in the U.S. who THRIVE on both. Instead of excoriating George Bush for his war and his glee for Texas executions, he wantonly allowed his bisops to speak from the pulpit against John Kerrey because of his "evil" pro choice stand.
The best I can say for this pope is that he had stamina and wore white well. As for the rest, he was VERY bad for the Catholic Church, rendering it more irrelevant than ever...but the JEWELS and the ARTWORK are still nice!
Of course they'll rush to canonize him which is the result of his having appointed the entire College of Cardinals in his image...right-wing and backward.
He was a bad pope; maybe a nice devout man, but a BAD pope! (though perhaps not as bad as PAUL VI but he only had a few years to do his damage.)

...................See, I WARNED you

Yeah, we were sorry to see Precious go, but she'll be back when they go on vacation. She's a fun cat (but OH, what a rotten name...even SHE doesn't acknowledge it; we called her BLANCHE <shhh>.

Ginny,
You had me googling DIPLADENIAS...very pretty!

Linda,
Both those choices look superb for the Amish visit. Sounds like fun now that the weather is getting so nice. Have a "funnel cake" but don't ask for the carb count!
I think Atkins' is receding from it's glorious heights like all fad diets, but it has a tendency to do the "decade bounce" so might roar back again. I think Atkins' death started the pullback in popularity. Also it was just a mattter of time for some of those sugar alcohols as more and more people tried them and rued the day they did! Does the term POO POO PLATTER have resonance? Of course they were just a money-making scheme and really not part of the diet. I'm thinking of ALL those red-A(tkins) products on ALL THOSE store shelves...they appeared EVERYWHERE and will slowly wane. I think the next round goes to ORNISH!<too tough for ME though!>

Library JUST came through with AMERICA (THE BOOK): A CITIZEN'S GUIDE TO DEMOCRACY INACTION by the staff of the Daily Show (Jon Stewart!) I've heard excerpts and I look forward to rolling on the floor!

To all a good day .

Mornin' y'all,

Looks like we may be in for a bit of rain again, but it's still 70 out I'm going to be busy these next few days at work since our 3rd shift guy is on vacation until Monday night. The other guy on 3rds isn't all that trained in on what to do, so guess who gets to leave him set up??? Yep, ME! Hopefully it will be a slow freight time and I can get it all done with minimal effort.

Linda, oooohhhhh I wanna go! Looks like a nice quiet slice of heaven there! Years ago we would stop in the Amana Colonies in Iowa on our way to Illinois, it was an Amish area. We'd stop there to eat and the food was excellent!

Zip, I reckon the Atkins diet has long since passed 'fad' status, as it's been around for @40 years now What I hate to see are all the 'frankenfoods' that IMO ruin the purpose of the diet. Just because it says it's LC doesn't mean it's good for you to eat. All the jump-on-the-money-bandwagon junk food that's out there now defeats the purpose that Dr. A had of getting people to eat a healthy, vastly unprocessed diet. The problem with all these bars, shakes, etc. is all they cater to are those who want a quick fix instead of working the plan as it's intended. Now, granted, I'd rather have some SF options while travelling etc, but I can throw a bag of almonds in the van just as easy. Some of the baking mixes, like the CarbSense muffins are actually a pretty good thing (no sugar alcohols) and of all their baking mixes that's what I'll actually buy. What it all boils down to is that eating LC is supposed to be done in a healthy manner, tweaked as necessary for each individual, and to get the sugary, processed CRAP out of your eating plan. It's really a shame that so many companies have taken away the original purpose to make a buck or 2. LC works, but it has to be done as intended! Dr. A's death would have been much sooner if he hadn't developed the LC plan, and it would have been from heart disease instead of a fall on the ice!

Hope everyone is having a contented day! Better get myself moving.....

Hi Gang,

Just checking in, stayed at DD's last night as her DH was out of town until tonight.

The crew moved all the stuff out of the basement on Sunday into the garage, it is a triple, so enough space. They have dryers-heater things going day and night to dry out the basement. They cut some of the drywall that was soaked at the bottom, so waiting to see what they do next. It has been no bother just Saturday night and Sunday daytime.

My cold is much better, hope I dont give it to Ella. I wanted to stay away but DD said that she would be okay.

It is warming up nicely up here a high of 14C today with brilliant sunshine and blue skies.

Thanks for the Pic Loretta, What an awful mess, yes it is worse to see the visual than hear about the accident. Hope everyone including you are healing well now.

Hope to be back.

Hi to all

I have some free time for a little while. The company has all gone to look at antiques. It is raining here and a gloomy day.
I sure am feeling better, thanks for all of your warm hugs. That helps a bunch with the company, just feeling better.

Linda did you get any damage from the flooding? What a mess that flood creates. Not easy for clean up either. Thanks for the web sites for the inns. Have you made a choice yet? I liked them both. That swimming pool sure looked inviting.

Ginny I think the pup (Rascal) is part lab and part German Shepard. He most certainly is well behaved and quiet. I did take him for a walk on his leash the other day when they were gone. I like his "puppy" curiosity at 4 months old. He will be big.

Barb hope those meds keep you at that nice level, to sleep all night and be awake and ready to go. My new bp med is controlling my bp just fine but some days I feel low on the energy side. I'm with you on being a hermit. Having company sure makes a person appreciate being home alone after they leave.

Shawnee thanks for the hugs and kind words. It just seems like my upset nest is lasting very long. This too shall pass. I might be ready for some outside gardening very soon.

Julie the last of the company will leave Friday or Sat. She is not sure. I still have one more thing to deal with and that is getting my sons truck and him back and forth. He is waiting for days off and the truck to be finished before he heads this way again. He will do some more painting when he returns. He is getting tired of this mess too.

Zip will you be having your blood work checked? Anxious to hear if your HDL is coming up. Thanks for the pics and news on the Deleware River. I don't even think I have watched the news in the past few days. I'm glad too that the ins gave me a little more. I don't feel so bad about paying that car ins all this time.

Susun hope your cold is gone and you are feeling better. My nose was so red from the constant blowing. I never did have much of a cough though. DH has laryngitis but no runny nose. Did I remember to tell you that Leah's tubes opened up with the medicine they gave her?

Going to relax for a while.

Loretta

Anyone heard any more about Pam?

Hi Y'all

TODAY is the nicest we've had in weeks...SUN, going towards 70...YAHOO!

Rains to return this evening, so hopefully ol' Red and I will renew our long relationship this afternoon...hoping he doesn't bog down in the wet turf (Oh, my exciting Life)

The ol' saying is: when the grass is tall enough to tickle your butt, then its time to mow...LOL, ours is tickling ankles, that's tall enough for me.

The bright spot that has fended off depression thru these dreary, rainy weeks is a view of the potted tulips..(yeah, we appreciate the rain, but not the mood that comes with it)

Ginny, I no longer defend Atkins, or any other LC Plan to critics.. ...I just defend my personal LC WOE. When its attacked by an overweight sugar-chompin' carboholic, then the LINE has been crossed!

Hey to Everyone, I'm burning daylight (sunshine)...gotta get outside!

Running back in for a quick check and hello to all. Got a burst of energy and tore my bedroom apart. Cleaned the heck out if it from top to bottom and took three bags of stuff to the Salvation Army. Whew!! Took care of Gerard's BR and the balcony too. We want to paint his room and tear that awful wall to wall carpet out.( what ever possessed him to put it in is beyond me) We have beautiful wood floors under that.
Will paint and use that carpet as a drop cloth. LOL

Tomorrow, I'll take my huge comforter to the laundry and do it there. It fits in the washer but G. gets a bit upset.

Barb, It's great to hear you are sleeping better.I'm so happy the meds are finally kicking in.(((hugs)))

Roger, Just read a Reuters health report about alcohol hand sanitizers really cutting down on colds and flu in households that use them. Give it a try.

Groan, doctors appointments are not fun. Be nice and get what you want from him. LOL I know how difficult that is. I think I've alienated most of mine.

Yep you warned us but I totally agree with ya.

Our hick town library just notified us that they will now have books on line to READ. Yippie. Should cut down on all the books I have been getting rid of.

Ginny, Ginny, Ginny, I had a wonderful and early surprise in my mail box today. The soaps came and smell absolutely WONDERFUL!! My entire downstairs smells fantastic! Love that lotion too. Wow and my goodness. Now I'm afraid to use them. They look so pretty too. Hope you got the check. Let me know ASAP.

Yeah, Atkins original plan was just natural foods and not that processed junk. Some people will learn and others won't. Oh well, no skin off my teeth.

Susan, OMG it must be a total mess at your DD's. Thank heavens they have the money and a good crew to do the work. Many of our neighbors in the valley are in quite a mess. Water and river mud all over their homes. Unfortunately not many have a lot of money to hire people and others lack Federal Flood insurance. Regular house insurance won't cover floods.

Loretta, at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. You sure will be glad to have your peace and quiet back. Don't know how you stand it. I would be in a rubber room by now.

How about a picture of that pup?

No damage here at all. If water got up this high, the entire valley would drown.

We are going to stay at the Smoketown Inn. It's a bit off the beaten path and away from the heavy traffic of Rt. 30.

Shawnee, OMG your tulip pots and yard are a sight for sore eyes. Beautiful, just beautiful!!! It's just BROWN around here with the grass just showing a touch of green.

Hope you enjoyed the day outside.

Gotta go catch up then make some deviled eggs.

Back again

Nanner, nanner, nanner Montana... I got MY package too! Fun like Holiday gifts, huh? I only get those bursts of energy outside. For me, cleaning the inside is like threading beads on a string with no end knot. I do love the feeling of hauling the excess away.

THANK YOU Ginny...I'm loving' the good stuff. After yardwork this afternoon, I was sure glad to have the Coconut shower gel. Haven't opened anything else except the Lilac lotion..Wow, its so fresh! Something really special bout having my beauty potions concocted specifically for ME, by someone I KNOW! Bob said I smelled finger-lickin' good...'nuff said.

Zip, be glad ya live in a country where you're free to voice your religious opinion, and practice/not practice it, without fear of hanging
LOL, even my heathen people received a quasi-privilege to believe/not believe as they chose in 1934; took til 1978 (1978!...and not just the Peyote I'm talkin' here ) before their religious rights tryly took effect, and were legally upheld. Personally, no mere mortal stands between me and my Creator; I don't want/need an interpeter, be told what to believe, and my body is mine until I leave it behind.

Loretta, what good news, re lil Leah's ears. Hope you're feeling less stressed; damn stress leaves me wrung out. Bob should take a vacation, so I can feel how Barb is happily feeling.
