New Commitments for the week

I have decided I need to re-new my commitment to getting to 105 and getting back on track with exercise (not using work as an excuse to cut down or out on the exercise). I am at 109.5 Monday morning (same as Sunday).

Have a great Monday. I will check back this evening.

Hi all,
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We picked up A yesterday and had a really nice day. It was sunny again so we wrre out by the pool. I ate pizza and pie over the weekend. Today I am back on the meat fast. i am usuing it to maintain and slowly dip down. Last week my friday weight was 107. my momday weight after carb up was 111. The protein fast helps the water come off faster and I don't really mind it. it is helping me with my appitite and shrinking my stomanch.

Today A and I are having my bgf and her son over for a play date. I wish it was sunny but it is drizzling here.

How are you VA, Rachel, Ann Brenda??????

Vickie, I am sure you will get to where you want to be. Does added excersise help you?

I will check in later
Janina

Hi you guys...

Just a quick note ... if you didn't know, I've dealt with serious depression the past few months and guess what ... its rearing its ugly head again as I've tried to return to a very stressful job ... doctor's orders are 13.5 hours a week and no more, but you know how it is; they see you in your chair and think 'oh man, she's back!!' So I've been SLAMMED big time and am feeling very low ....

Please pray for me and help me through this ... I don't want to end up back in the psycho unit at the hospital ............. but right now, I am not sleeping and not wanting to eat ... am still running as that seems to help with the stress, but could you please say a prayer for me?

Thanks, I appreciate your support and encouragement.

*hugs*
Betty

Betty, my thoughts and prayers are with you! Your health comes first, so fight for it. If you should only work 13.5 hours you really must make sure you don't exceed it. my mom was told by her Dr that if she didn't get out of management she was headed for a heart attact. Well she did and now she has other issues but she is really watching her health. We all must. it is really the most important thing you have in your life.

Please try to eat! i know not running is out of the question but you are really looking too thin. 5 more lbs and you will have more serious health issues.

I used to be a touch anorexic. I was 93 lbs. My therapist said I was 3 lbs away from serious health problems that i couldn't turn back from. It is hard to believe now that I was so near anorexia..now I am so far from it. I know you have an addictive personality as I do. My therapist said i used controlling my weight as the only control I had over my life.

Please watch your heath and eat something...prayers and hugs..I know you aren't seeing yourself as clearly as others now! you are getting too thin. We would all love your problem here..but please watch it!!!

Betty, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Please try to stick to the hrs of work your dr approved. I know it is hard to say no at work but you must think of your health. I know you know this already but if you keep up the running to help with the stress, you must eat to give your body the fuel it needs.

Janina, the exercise definitely helps me keep the wt down plus I just feel so much better. I was exercising over 2hrs per day. Now that we are back to daylight savings time, it will be easier for me to get in my jog/fast walk after work. I did get in some wt training and crunches early this morning and after work, got in a 3 mi jog/fast walk. Sometimes I eat just protein/fat only to help drop lbs and it does work.

Rachel, I hope things are ok with you. Sorry you are having a rough time right now.

Hi to Va, Ann, and Brenda.

Rachel, how are you?? please let us know!!!! i am worried about you.

I think VA is in FLA....

Brenda...are you working too hard and too much also!

Did meat/egg fast today. I was sooooo much easier then last week.
Menu
B eggs and sausage
L two slices of turkey
D tons of halibut

I am hoping to use this on my maitenance plan. it felt easy today, and my dh said the same thing. He did it last week and lost 3 lbs that he kept off. He has nothing else to lose but wants to maintain also. men don't seem to gain as much water from carbs..why is that! it isn't fair!

Vickie, I am so happy about daylight savings times also!!

Betty have a good night!

Just a quick check-in before going to work. I am still at 109.5 this morning. I am going to have to watch portion sizes at dinner. I grilled two chicken burgers for dinner last night and ate both of them. I will check back later.

Hi all, I had a busy weekend,, I had to work wed, thurs, and friday 13 hours each,, 10am-11pm,, and then I had to go in on saturday to oversee a banquet. Sunday went by much too quickly and back to work monday 13 hours. I am off Tues and Weds. thank goodness. My son has an appt with the ear doc so he is staying home today and we are going to do lunch and some shopping, I am looking forward to it. I am up to 117-118,, I dont know why I keep going up in weight.. I am running 20-26 miles aweek along with weight training at least 2 times a week. I am eating the same, I think watching carbs is just not enough, I remember the talk about watching calories and I am going to really have to start doing that. I am getting really frustrated. I was at 114 for about 7 months and now it keeps going up...

Corgie, I sometimes think it is the exercising that is making me gain weight.. I too am going to try to cut down portions sizes and try not to eat anyghing after dinner. I need to cut out nuts and cheese too.

janina, I am going to try all protein for a few days and see if that helps me get down a few pounds,, it always worked for me before but I am having such a hard time sticking with it now,, I used to be much more disciplined. I too was eating off track,, I had bday cake again,, and lots of wine this weekend. I need to do induction for a while,, ha.

Betty, I am sending prayers your way,, I have a SIL that is going through something similar, so I kinda know what you are going through,, it is very hard for you to just say no to your workers, but y ou must.. I really hope for you to get through this. I too second the statement that you need to eat.. I dont know how you do all that running without fuel, I need some food in my body or my running is bad.

Hi to everyone else. I got to shower and get ready to head out , have a good day,Brenda

Hi everyone, I had a good clean weekend and no real cravings. The GTF Chromium and L-Glutamine really helps with the sweets cravings.

I would still like to drop a few pounds but seem to be hovering around 105 as usual. I did 10.25 miles on the gym bicycle last night which I guess was better than nothing. Hoping to keep it up between the bike, treadmill, and ellyptical. I had hurt my back recently so I'm staying away from the weights for awhile.

Betty, so sorry things are looking down again. Hope you get to feeling better soon. I know work can be really stressful sometimes; I sure wouldn't work a minute longer than the doctor prescribed. If you don't take care of yourself, you are not going to be able to work, run or anything else. You sure don't need to lose any more weight. I can remember last Summer getting so many bad comments from people when my weight dropped to 91 lbs. For the first time in my life, I was too thin and knew it. Hope you can resolve things and get your health back in "tip top" shape real soon.

Hope everyone has a good lowcarb week.

Ann

Hi all,
I have no appitite this am from meat/egg fast. I also dropped to 109 from 111. I knew I gained water from this weekends carbs. If I drop one more lb then I did last week before the weekend i will accomplish what I want. i would like to gradually get back down to 105, one lb at at time with my weekly cyclying of all protein 3 days, low carb 2 day, and anything goes the weekend. I know my approach is differant from the strict low carbs. To make the plan work for me I need to eat freely weekends and can disapline weekdays. When i was strict low carb i couldn't drop below 110. my body just stopped! With a little one around I like to be able to eat some of the things she eats with her and I like to go out with my dh on weekends for dinner and have us just order what we want to eat. For me this is maitenance since I have no daily and continual willpower but do have great short term willpower.

Ann, I agree with you. When I was low 90s I couldn't see what I looked like, I still saw flab. When people would comment I was too thin, i thought everyone was jealous and just wanted me to be heavy. I did like the hanger effect of my body and how I could wear anything, but people started commentting and asking if I was tired, also I have always looked about 5 to 8 years younger then I am but with no fat on me people started thinkig I was my true age. That didn't make me too happy!

Brenda, I think the m/e fast works for me bc i use it after the weekend to get my water off after carbing up. if you just regained your weight immediately back, then don't put yourself thru it. I actually think you would be perfect for it bc you are like me in the respect that disipline started failing. This has givin me better disipline and portian control again.

Betty, how are you feeling today? We are all keeping you in our toughts and prayers. Please check in with us as I worry about you now knowing how you are feeling. Life can be so hard and overwhelming. What is your support system like? I hope you are refueling so you can keep up with those awesome runs of yours. When i ran alot the lighter I got the faster and easier my runs were. I was 110 then and had not one ounce of fat or flab. I was so tone that i had a 6 pack. I never took bikini shots. i wish i would have!!!

Cute story about something my dh said. We were watching the new movie with selma hyack and pierce bronsen and selma ran out of the water in a bathing suit and my dh said..she could be YOUR body double. He was insisting we had the same body. I think it is similar as I am busty(32d or 34c) and tiny. my BGF teases me and says I have three lbs of boob when I complain that i want to be her range(100 to 105) rather then my range(105/108 to 111) anyways it makes me feel good to be seen like that from him bc she took my breath away in the scene. it is awesome to have a husband that sees me in such flattering light!

see you all later..need to order some goodies for my little store.

Let me start off by thanking each one of you for your encouraging words. You are all absolutely 100% right .. and I need to take your wisdom to heart.
My problem is, my willingness to help is bigger than my brain ... (I am blonde you know........) so I want to try and be all things to all people ... how stupid is that? After 49 years, shouldn't I know that's impossible by now??

Okay, so today I left at 11:30 .. although I brought work home ... I'm not doing it for a few hours. I plan to spend time outside by our pond, talking to fishies for therapy .. they're oh, so willing to listen and never talk back!

I'll do the work later on after a much deserved break. Tomorrow is a day off so that will be good.

You guys are simply the best. Thanks to each one. Wish I could hug you all in person. Lesley (lowcarbette) has been my ROCK .... I love you all

I'll be in touch.

Day two of the second protein fast.
B two eggs and two bacon
L egg salad
D sashimi i couldn't finish
s soy latte...not approved but I can't skip them

My appitite is decreasing and decreasing. Both my dh and i think that this could be a key for maintaining. As you all can see I am not strict low carb. No carbs at night and low carbs really help but I don't seem to have the bloating and issues that come with eating carbs(EXCEPT popcorn late at night..and that stinks cause i love a bucket with a movie but I am physically ill everytime I eat it) I am also finding the fast is easier the second time then the first. No headaches or nausea.

Betty, I am glad you have good support. It is so important to have people to talk to and confide in! I do not want to be all things to everyone..been there and done that and came to realize only a few people really appriciate my effort. Those people deserve all of my love and attention. I have a few loved ones, a few close friends, many close aquitances and a few people to aviod at all costs who are so toxic i can't be in the same room with them. Energy vampires. i used to let them suck my energy but no more. Life is too short.

as far as the fast...

I couldn't do this longer then 3 days at a time, but feel I can do it once a week. By the last of the three days the thought of eating protein turns my stomach. Anyone else react the way i have been with the M/E fast?

Where is rachel? i know VA is on her trip. i miss them.

see you guys later

Hi all,, It is going to be 76 degrees here today,,, YEAH! My DH is going to try to leave work early and take me out on the Harley later this afternoon. I did not do really well staying on my protein. I had some pecan cake for breakfast,, it is SF and LC, but still not protein,,, for lunch my son and i went to redlobster, Ihad ceasar salad,, and salmon, and veggies,, not to bad,, for dinner we had steak,, tom/mozz salad, and saute mushrooms on my steak and some LC bread,, and then I ate some more pecan cake,,, yikes,,, I have no discipline, I have n ot been on the scale today to see what the numbers are saying. I am going to go outside and get a good run in, hopefully 7-8 miles, my son is home from school again as he has dark circles under his eyes,, he said he could not sleep all night and was have hot flashes and he has no energy,, he was the same way yesterday. hmmmm, hope he is not getting sick..
Janina, I wish I had your willpower,, I used to have it. I will try it again today. You are doing great..
Betty, you are stiil in my thoughts and prayers,, are you going running today??
hope everyone has a good day, talk to you later, Brenda

Betty, glad you left work early even if you took work home. That fish pond sounds so serene. Hang in there!

Janina, I am thinking about doing some protein days. I have been eating a lot of dairy (yogurt, ricotta, cream cheese, cottage cheese). When I eat 1 or 2 boiled eggs at breakfast, that kills my appetite for most of the day.

Brenda, I hope your son is not getting sick. We are having good weather too.

Rachel, hope you check in soon and that things are going well for you.

Ann, that was a good bicycle workout. I hope to be able to hover around 105 one of these days. Guess I have got to decide once and for all if having more carbs is more important than losing another 5lbs.

I was at 110 this morning but I expected it since I had so much dairy on Tuesday plus I made a beef, green pepper and onion stir fry using the carb options teriyaki sauce so I had more sodium than I should have. I did get in a 3 mi fast walk on Tuesday. I got in a short but intense wt training workout plus crunches on a large exercise ball early this morning and will do my 3 mi fast walk after work. Have a great day everyone.

Oh my gosh, does this hit home ............. Janina, thank you for putting my thoughts in print!! I am going to take that advice and make it my mantra.

Day off work today .. well, let's just say a day out of the office?? There's always plenty of work here at home, but you know what? I don't care!! I'm going running today ... that ALWAYS helps me .. DD is going with and we're doing the whole 8 miles daggone it!!

Vickie, I do believe in mixing things up .. more protein on some days, less dairy on others, etc. Seems to keep the body guessing which is a good thing!
I hope it works well for you, sweetie.

Brenda, have fun on the Harley!! Sounds like a great time to me!! We used to own a cycle way back when we were first married (like in 1980!) and we miss it .. although its kinda dangerous here in FL where just being in a car is risky enough!! But I'd sure love to be able to be a motorcycle momma again one day!

Ann, 10 miles on the bike!! Better than nothing? Girlie, that is astounding!! GREAT JOB!! I am so glad your sweet cravings are under control!!

Okay, off to get ready for the 8 miler .. its gonna be a sweatfest as the humidity is climbing .................... UGH. But I shall prevail!!

Did you hear the great news about Lesley (lowcarbette)? I won't spoil the surprise, but I hope she gets here soon to tell you all!!

to all!!

I am not maintaining yet and feel funny even posting here, but it is thanks to many of you (and you know who you are) that I finally saw 139 on my scale this morning. It might as well be 129, as light and airy as I feel today. LOOKOUT WORLD!

I LOVE LC!!!!!!!

And to all of you awesome maintainers.

Way to go Leslie!! that is great.

Have fun running your 8 miles Betty, I only got in 6, It was just not clicking for me today. I will take tomorrow off and do weights and try for a good run on Friday.

Vickie,, I think I will boil me up some eggs,, I need something to keep me full for hours, maybe this will be it, I was doing deviled eggs but they made me stinky, willhard boiled do the same I wonder?? I was eating them with 4 pieces of turkey bacon.. yum

I just cleaned out the fridge,, I want a bigger one,, but I cant justify spending lots of money when this one still works just fine,, It is a side by side and I want one of those trios with the bottom freezer,, they have so much room in the fridge section.. oh well.
I better get back to work or I will not get anything done and I have back to back 13 hour days starting tomorrow. yuck.. Brenda

Welcome Lowcarbette! Please join us here. We will support you and your last weight you want to take off and you can support us maintain. it would be great to really get this board going, as everyone here is wonderful and supportive. Congrats on the scale!!!!!! 18.5 inches..wow! is this since January?

Betty, please remind me if you start seeing me get sucked by energy vampires. They can sneak right in your life. I am learning much better boundaries and won't immediately drop everything to care for others. I take care of my loved ones and myself first. hard lesson learned but with a little one, so important. Why should anyone get her time? Have fun on your run and with dd! Make sure to spend some time with those fish. they are good company!

Ann, I need to try the L- glu. I love sweets! Especially pms.

Brenda, Harley girl! You rock. That is too cool. My ex had a Harley. i don't miss him, butI miss his ride..lol!

Day three of my protein fast. It just keeps getting easier. Scale down to 107 which is one lb farther down at this time then last week. i would do it down to 105 but I think it would put me off protein forever. Better to incorperate it in my weekly plan as I can see myself doing this every week as a form of maitence. It allows me to eat with my family and friends on weekends. It immediately takes off water so it is perfect. The only drawback is all of the dollars I spend to buy sashimi, halibut and other yummy things. Today I am making some Tuna salad. It works well if I have something differant every meal.

I am looking forward to seeing VA when she gets back, and Rachel if you are lurking PLEASE stop in and say HI...

OK out by the pool with dd! It is 70 here!
Hugs

I’m back! We survived the trip. Delayed getting out because of wind but aside from that the flights were fine. DDs loved riding in Gpa’s golf cart - he even let them drive it around the court once. They swam, we played bocci, went to the driving range and I helped get the house ready for the summer - my parents are leaving to head back to NY tomorrow. I also did a lot of cleaning for my Mom. She just can’t do it anymore and can’t really even see the dirt. I got to run twice and did a little ab and bicep work. I ate well except for yesterday when I had bread with lunch and then PASTA for dinner! What was I thinking? Well, I was thinking that I was going to have icecream for dessert so why not! I actually did not eat much pasta - bigDD and I split a dinner and I ate all the broccoli and a little pasta but I did hold my own eating the icecream and cake dessert that we all split. I don’t even want to get on the scale now because I never weigh during the day. I wonder what it will say tomorrow morning - I am sure it won’t still be 129/130 but I will get it back there in a few days.

I need to go find DDs and head to the store. DH did a great job taking care of the dogs but there is no food in the house!

VA welcome back. I am so happy to see you! Knowing you, you will be back on track in no time. If the scale is crazy tomorrow remember it is just water.....B and I ate at Olive garden last weekend and i ate bread and pasta. The crazy thing is this protein fast is killing my appitite. I stopped midway eating everything and just didn't do it. It sounds like you guys had a terffic time! When do you start getting pool ready for summer?

Betty, thanks for inviting lowcarbette to join us. The more the merrier and we can't have too many friends right! 8 miles!!!wow!!!!! I am seriously impressed. Do you make sun tea? what kinds do you drink. i am a tea lover and love sun tea.

It was lovely out today. A got tired really quick and needed an early nap so we didn't stay out long. I am calling dh after this post and telling him to come home early and we can all jacuzzi. I face the sunset and it is a huge treat to watch it everynight as a family. We miss it in winter.

Made tuna salad for lunch. A large can of tun and 1 teaspoon of mayo. Could only eat half which would be a total of 175 calories. I know I am going to have to force dinner down. For any of you on the fence on the meat and egg fast it really is a terrfic appitite suppressant. Even when i go off it, I can't eat as much. i do gain a bit of water back but am doing this for the accumulative effects. i know that for maitenance this is working for me!

see you all later

Lesley!! Glad to have you posting here. And congrats on getting to 139. Keep up the good work.
Va, back. Glad you had a good trip. You will get back on track soon.
Hi to everyone else! Running late this morning and need to get ready for work. My wt is up to 110.75 this morning. I already have my menu planned for the day but Friday I will definitely start an all protein/fat day.

THANK YOU ALL

How lovely to be recognized. Janina, yes the 18.5" and 23# is since January. My problem isn't losing the weight, it's keeping it off. I tend to lose about 20-25 every couple of years but then gain it all back, plus some, never getting down to my goal. So, I'm not near maintaining yet. But I do have good friends on this thread (Ann and Betty) and now consider myself as having even more. I follow this thread every day and will pop in to say WAY TO GO now that you've invited me. to such sweet ladies. I really appreciate the support.

Betty - I hope that you did not do that extra work that you brought home. You really need to do just the hours recommended and no more. It is great that you enjoy running - it always gives me a sense of peace both during a great run and afterwards - it really frees my mind.

Janina - We are opening the pool on April 26 but it won’t be usable for a few days until the chemicals clear. It will be too cool to swim much right away but having it open gives us the option of using the hot tub and sometimes DDs swim and just turn blue!

Vickie - What kind of a scale do you have that is so precise? Wow! I just got a new one because my old-new one (only 7 months old) started flaking out and would change 2-3 pounds so I was averaging the numbers and it was driving me nuts. My new one does in .2 pound increments which I like - the old just did to the half pound.

Lesley - In case you are lurking - I am learning how to maintain and not too well when I am not at home. Once you have your goal weight in site come and learn along with us - the maintaining seems to take more discipline than losing.

Well - I ended my trip in a big way last night. I had a big salad for dinner but then ate every french fry in sight and topped it off with icecream last night - one last post-Florida fling. We never got to food shop, we just picked up a few things at Costco so tonight will be food shopping. I am going to eat very lightly the next few days to get back to 129/130. Just like with my last weekend binge (and that one was MUCH bigger), I want this weight off quickly before it gets too comfy! I will stick to protein before and after workouts and might even
