MVM's Sunday April 3
Hi gang. Pardon my b*tchiness but this not smoking is not fun. Just thank what ever powers that you don't live with me. Poor Gerard. He is not a happy camper.
We are in a hell of a mess in this and the surrounding counties. Flood warnings, roads closed and evacuations. http://www.wbng.com/data/web_7718.shtml http://www.wbng.com/data/weather.shtml#7688 Julie, your poor Nick has my deepest sympathy. It's not easy. Quiting pot is so much easier. Been there done that back in the 60's. Give him a big hug for me and tell him to e mail me if he wants. Oh yeah, those spike heals were a killer but fortunately I found comfort more fun than fashion. Shawnee, Loved Ginny's Midwestern/southern drawl. She is such a sweet person and so much fun. Don't like the taste of stevia myself but thought it might be interesting to try to grow. LMAO yeah right! Like I can grow anything. Fry bread brings back memories of my Seminole grandma. <sigh> Those were the days. Fry bread, Elephant ears and Pizza frite are one in the same almost.Fudge, Godiva Chocolates and M & M's. Guess they got many of us were we were before low carb, eh?Roger, are you surrounded by water? Susan, hope you didn't take offense at my tirade about smoking cessation. It's just that we did a lot of that at work and the success rate was so darn poor. Nothing personal. I just don't believe it helps many. Please keep us updated on your DH and his up coming surgery. Waving to our Loretta, Barb, Ginny, Jackie and Pam and lurkers. Sunday is going to be spent with my mom hopefully and if I can get off this hill. Good morning,
Tried to get some idea of the flood extent but all the news media are pope, pope, and POPE. Northern NJ (Wayne, Bound Brook) will get it as bad as Bingampton. There are many small streams that feed the Delaware, Passaic, and Hackensack Rivers and they all overflow. Of course developers have built on every flood plain in the state, and the term "flood plane" now means "gated community! "Rain is going to be spotty today after Noah's DELUGE yesterday (Bob brought home the wooden handle from his umbrella which was all that was left after a huge gust hit him.) Maybe we can get to the A&P...they are selling their barbecued chickens for $3.99. We have a boarder for a couple days while her house is being painted. She's an adorable, friendly calico maybe 6 months old named PRECIOUS. I've never SEEN so gentle and loving a cat! I will NOT mention the Raspberry Filled Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli Squares, but if the pope was REALLY good, St. Peter will give him ONE! (However Satan might offer TWO! ![]() )Northwesterners...gee it's hard to believe that all that rain isn't helping your drought much? What has run short besides the snow pack? Ground water, or resevoirs? More later (if something happens.)

Oh Susan,
Bob's GRANDMOTHER owned and ran a General Store in Ogdensburg and he thinks his mother was born there. Gee, that would be a pretty good claim for immigration rights, wouldn't it? Hmmm. And if we MARRIED in Canada...DOUBLE HMMMM? |

Hey gang,
Just a quickie here this morning. Already feel like I'm running late with this time change....UGH! Just wish they'd pick one and leave it alone!!! Linda, was GREAT to talk to you yesterday! Got the goodies all boxed up and ready to go....rainy days are good for inside projects You sound just like a Midwesterner, I was surprised! Be careful with all that flooding going on, nothing to play with there.Zip, enjoy your furry visitor! Calicos are one of the prettiest cats, we very seldom see one of them in our barn. There will never be a cat in this house. The house wouldn't survive the dogs chasing it. Sounds like it was a bit breezy for y'all yesterday ![]() Shawnee, sometimes the pony express amazes me. It can take a week to get something from MN at times, but then it can be 2 days from the PNW??? Go figure. Our mail goes to Chattanooga for sorting I think, if our carrier picks it up. If I take it to the PO on my way to work (7 miles away) I think it goes to Crashville first LOL on the Purple People Eater--I remember that song!Loretta, it's getting warmer today for us, hope you're enjoying sun/heat too! Gonna go wash that new car today? Susan, is all back to normal now? You have a tough job with the smoking cessation....it's a very individual thing in how to quit, and I've heard it's much more difficult to quit cigarettes than alcohol. An individual has to really WANT to do it, and keep wanting to stay quit. I reckon I'm not there yet. Julie, does this season look better for your Mariners than last year? Hope you enjoy your games! I know I'm rabid about my football, won't even answer the phone during a game and sometimes won't even check messages during half time! Barb, what'cha been up to this weekend? Off and running for now. To all y'all Catholics, my sympathies on the loss of your leader.

Morning from rainy Bremerton!! Yep, all this rain hasn't begun to make up for our shortage snow pack. All of western Wa. depends on the snow pack for it's water. Now here on our Pennisula, we rely on the aquifer. So we are still sitting pretty good here.
Ginny, thanks for the sympathies from this Catholic. Mariners are expected to compete this year. Last year is one we all want to forget!!! Looks to be a much better team. Did I tell you about the star from here? We are proud of Marvin Williams, one of the stars of U of North Carolina who will be playing in the NCAA finals tournament on Monday. He is only a Freshman. Was a star here at our local Bremerton High School and everybody around here is jumping for joy. This is his dream and it's come true. Dang, I thought I'd saved your email with the soaps description. Went to order some and can't find it. Do you think you could email it to me again? Don't forget I don't have Word. I totally agree with it being harder to quit cigs vs alcohol. Done both and cigs were much harder. Never want to go through that again. Who was it mentioning the snail mail? Well, our mail has to go to Tacoma, 30 miles away even if you are mailing something next door. Does that make sense? Idiots.... Linda, Nick is back to smoking again. He is just not ready yet. One day he will and hoping he doesn't wait till his health has been in jeopardy. You stick to it, you will be much happier soon.....trust me. I hear ya on the comfort but those spike heels were required for that job. Now, I would find a different job!!!!!!! Weather looks horrid!!!!! Shawnee, want to try that Artisan Flatbread but what size pan do you use? Finally have the puzzle sides done. DH and I put in some hours on it yesterday and he is already in there working it today. He doesn't even like them. I'm not dressed yet....almost 11:00 a.m. here. Suppose I better be thinking about it.Watching the "Golden Girls" on TV..man that show still makes me laugh!!

Hi Y'all
Brrr, chilly here, but at least NO flooding! Damn, Montana....sure glad y'all are up hugh...what about your Mom's place? BTW, how big is a cubit...just in case Noah needs to know Keep your tootsies dry!Yeah, Ginny does have a great "blended" accent. Sympathies to Gerard ![]() Zip, Thanks for NOT bringing up chocolate & raspberry, one of my fav combos. I use Davinci Raspberry in Brownies and Fudge. Poor Bob and the umbrella bit. Aw, Zip....I'm almost feeling sad for ya already, cause when that PRECIOUS baby goes home.... ![]() I have the Solution: You and Montana co-adopt a kitty, (you'll need to get a car!)...then each have Custody for a month at a time....Perfect parenthood plan. Ginny, re the Pony Express: Amazing, such a short-lived yet expedient mail system made such a lasting Historical memory. Young orphan boys were recruited as riders...so if they were killed off, who cared? ![]() Hugs to Bub and his Siblings. Julie...was the Artisan Flatbread one of my recipes? I remember using one of Sherrie's...and changed some ingredients ( I have nothing written down about it)...but when I make it, I don't use a pan, just kinda dump it onto Parchment and spread it a bit for shaping.Hey to Loretta, Jacki, Barb, SuSUN...Hope everyone is having a decent day ![]() back later, thinking of running to Wally's for now. I thought Loretta said the other day that it was your recipe Shawnee. I found the recipe so guess I'll give it a try. So just dump it onto a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Don't have any but will grease some wax paper.

Just back from DD...Flooded basement about 1 ft of water, TV, freezer, fridge, gym equipment....loads of stuff ruined.
I stayed over night as they used two pumps all night to clear the water. DD and her DH were already quite exhausted after a longer journey DD went 18 hours with no sleep and her DH 26 hours. No heat and no water so jugs of water and just the gas fire to sit around. I stayed cuz the insurance adjuster came this morning. Ella was cozy warm and slept till 6:30a.m. I got up with her, then they got up. I watched her while they listed their stuff with the insurance guy. Thank goodness they are covered. Gotta go grab some shut eye! SuSUN |

Hi to all
Comany arrived late last night so it has been a little busy here. She went out fishing with DH and we got the boat in the water, FINALLY. He can leave it in now too because the lake level will stay up. Ginny I washed that new Honda the day after I got her. They sure did a crumby job of washing, IMHO. The door jams were not clean, now the trunk ledge. But she is dirty again. I forgot to tell you all the good news. My insurance co wrote me out a check for $3100. I was expecting $1600. Wonder if he made a mistake?. I did not say one word but took that check to the bank. Maybe my old Honda had lots of reusables in her value. The tires were fairly new and the doors were in good shape. Susun sorry to hear about all of the ruined things for DD. Plus the mess of cleanup. Sometimes the insurance covers clean up too. I hope it does for her. What a mess. Julie the flatbread I was talking about is called Carbdown Flat Out, a product Ginny told me about that WM sells. I like the original flavor, last time I had the herb. Linda hope you are high and dry. Sorry to hear about all of the flooding there. Hey to Shawnee. It is spring here today getting on up to the 70s. Sometimes DH uses a "needle threader" just like the one sewers use to thread their needles. I need to look for something a little more sturdie for him. I understand about using Leahs pic from your email but did you just paste and copy the IMG thingy from the photobucket site? I don't see any thing on this new bb for IMG or https. Gotta go Last edited by Loretta V : 04-03-2005 at 03:36 PM. |

OH, SuSUN, what a mess for them to come home to! Bet they were glad to have you available to help with the wee one during this stressful time. Do ya know what caused the flooding? Good luck to them.
Julie, I may have made up a recipe, just don't know...I seldom keep them anymore, as I kinda "make them up as I go" ...there's always room for improvement, so I just invent. Good luck with yours. If I could handle Soy, I'd be looking for the one Ginny and Loretta buy. YAHOO, Loretta...the BOAT is finally in the water. Send me some of your weather!Hey, CONGRATS on that check for your Honda. That figure sounds more in line with what you should receive. Loretta, here's something that Bob has a "kinda like" of, for threading hooks. Go to Cabelas.com its called: Quick-Tye Threader item # IF-310860 ............... Also, this one looks kinda like a needle threader, a Cabela thing: Bobbin Threader item # IF-310728 There's a Search feature on the Left side. LOL, now Bob is telling me to tell your DH : buy the hooks that come with Leaders attached Last edited by shawneesioux : 04-03-2005 at 04:58 PM. |

Above the space for typing in your Reply, kinda in the middle...there's an icon of a yellow envelope (that's what it looks like to me, LOL)...that's for IMG (insert image)...a box will pop up to copy your pic addy into... or use the IMG that appears UNDER the pic on Photobucket (copy and paste it into your Reply message) Clear as mud? |

Evening folks.....
Calico -- the ONLY car I 'm not allergic to - we have two right now!! DH is off on a trip to Reno for a convention qnd I hope he doesn't loose toooooooo much!! I know that many of us have some Catholic background and it still amazes me that the whole world is involved with the Pope's death and replacement. So far, the Concade of Cardinals hasn't invited to their big meetin' -- but it's only a matter of time before "women" will be considered. Loretta, THAT is good news concerning the Honda payment!! Good for You! Ginny, I've beed up to no good this weekend! We had a "biker funeral" to go to - that was interesting to say the least. A friend of a friend died and the bikers all get out to ride for this event. So many varied life styles in this country! Yeeeeeee freeeeedom! Later, Barb

Greetings from the flooded Susquehanna and Chenango River Valleys. Thank GOD that we are on this hill. Some pictures to follow.
Mom and I drove all over creation including into Pa. to check things out. Seems some fool "fell" into the river in Susquehanna, PA . We where in Great Bend/Hallstead area and saw all the commotion on the bridge. Fire trucks, boats, divers, etc. waiting for the "victim" to float by. Seems to me that if someone is stupid enough to fall into a raging river after all the warnings we have had, too bad! I can't see jeopardizing the rescuers. We went to dinner at an Italian place called The Little Venice, one of my favorites. They have "sides" of sausage or meat balls and peppers without the pasta, great salads and wonderful soup. A perfect place for a low carber. Roger, Gated communities, eh? LOVE it, but truly hope those people have Flood insurance. So are you and Bob still thinking of moving to Canada. I thought Ogdensburg was in NYS? Must have missed something here.Humm. Psst, how about Godiva Dark Chocolate, raspberry creams? YUMMM! How about a picture of Precious please Barb, biker funerals are quite something, eh? When were in Daytona many years ago, the Hells Angels had been there. One of their gang died in a crash on the beach so they buried him in the sand. Obviously the authorities dug him up and disposed of the corpse in an acceptable way. One of the guests, a doctor, told us about it. So do you have any pictures? Bet it was something like Montana's Annual Testy Festy. Wild and crazy. Loretta, Congratulations on the insurance windfall. What a surprise, eh? You could probably have sold the car for parts and collected a bit more than you got. Honda's are quite valuable as parts cars. A HUGE Oh dear Susan, I'm so sorry about the flood and water damage. Do they have flood insurance? Julie, poor Nick will quit when he is ready and not before. Still don't know if I'm ready. LOL but handing in there. Glad you are getting rain but don't know if it will even put a dent in that drought. Shawnee and I'll do a rain dance for ya or I can ship all of this to you. Ginny, I put the check in the mail tonight. Hope you get it in a few days. Guess our mail goes to Syracuse to be sorted or what ever. Midwestern accent?? LOL Hope you enjoyed the orchid show. Tell us all about it. Shawnee, So you are a Cabela fan too. I just LOVE that place. We have one about 70 miles from here just below Scranton, PA. Do you have a Gander Mountain there? Another great outdoors place. LOVE your suggestion that Roger and I co adopt a kitty. That would be the perfect solution for travel and such, as well as plenty of furry snuggles. What's with all of us loving a chocolate/raspberry combo? It is truly heaven. Look out here come the pictures. The bridge on the street where my mom lives. Road Closed. ![]() Mom's bldg from across the river. It's the one on the left, beige thing. ![]() Gerard checking out the flooding at the bottom of our hill in Conklin. That's a golf driving range to the right and Maines Food Distributors on the left. ![]() Confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango ![]() |

Yeah, serious water to say the least. Rivers should crest tonight, hopefully! If I were going to be buried, Death by Chocolate would be on my tombstone too. Maybe they can feed me to the fire with several pounds of Godiva. ![]() |
