SATURDAY for the MVM

Hello everyone,

Speaking of the CARBLESS CRAZE, on that HUGE pile of Easter candy remains at Target, were hundreds upon hundreds of the Russell Stover Sugar Free Easter Eggs in every convievable flavor. They were selling for $.13 each (originally $.79) and I think from the response to them the price will have to be lowered to $.01 to move them. I should have bought ONE to keep on hand for when I get constipated; maybe I will just to see what they taste like. Truth be told I didn't like the REGULAR version of the same egg much and gave them away, inside too goeey.

Rainining steady but from the way thaey were talking I'd have thought that a rowboat would have been needed. It's just the same April rain like every year of my life!

Bob is nutsily going to the ballet this afternoon and yours truly will stay dry and AT HOME...only gym and TV.

I'm going to pull a duck out of the freezer today (I think I have 3) and start the fridge defrost...it's been awhile since we've had one and I have a yen so it will be ready by Wednesday or later.

Looks like popey will be gone very soon...gee and I though he was going to last a few more centuries!

Enjoy the Weekend (Carpe Weekendus??)

HI to all'

Thanks Shawnee for posting Leah's pic in her daddy's shoes. I sure am enjoying being that gals grandma.
I really don't buy any things like bars or low carb candy or no sugar candy. Just give me the real thing. I eat so little of those items that I will bake them myself or forego them or eat the real thing. I do like the low carb flat bread that Ginny got me hooked onto.

We did see the retinal doc for DH. There is too much scar tissue for any help for him. He does see well out of his other eye though. That is a blessing.

Susun good news on the MRI results for DH. I wonder what is the cause of his muscle weakness. What else will they investigate.

Zip enjoy that duck when you get around to baking him. I have fixed them on occasion but would rather just have chicken.

Will catch up later, I hope.

Loretta

Hey gang,

Cold and damp for us today, good day to stay inside or in the gh! DH had a good trip to Huntsville for the show setup, we'll find out how everything went later on as judging is this morning and we're not there. Not much else new here.

Loretta, that pic of Leah is adorable! Wow has she gotten big. I reckon they keep growing if you keep feeding them Sorry to hear about the scar tissue re DH's eye, but glad his vision from his other eye is still good. I've been a 'one eyed wonder gal' all my life, and although my depth perception is wacky compared to normal, I can do all I need to do. One learns to compensate as needed.

Zip, good for you staying in the dry today. No fun to get wet and chilled! I do that enough at work this time of year and can tell you it's HARD to warm up when that happens!

Shawnee, we have fast mail service here, surprises me sometimes! We both slept in this morning, no alarms set, and it felt WONDERFUL! Now to get my butt in gear and get things done. House will smell good shortly!

Linda, is the sneaux finally melted off for you yet? How is your DB doing with his recovery?

Susan, glad DD's trip went so well. I know you'll be glad to have everything back to normal. Is Sassy home now?

Barb, how's everything out your way?

Julie, still raining?

Well, all, off to get a shower and get moving!

Morning on this rainy, cloudy day. Just heard on th eTV that our rain has done little for our drought conditions. 2 more weeks of rain for sure they said. If it's going to rain, then let it pour!!

Roger, WTG on getting rid of the candy. Glad you didn't like it!
I'm with you on staying home. Although I love the ballet as I took it for 8 years growing up.

Loretta, not good news about that eye of DH but like Ginny said, at least he still has one good eye. Does he take special Vitamin's for the eye health? I know they make them as was recomended by my eye doc. I have so many floaters that it looks almost like a vail at times.
Pic of Leah is so cute and yes, she looks older in that pic. Must be the angle. What a doll she is!

Ginny, sounds like my kind of day...not sure about your baking though. I wish I still liked to cook but I don't. After 40 years and only DH and me, there just isn't a spark anymore.

Another Mariner's game today. Last preseason one, Monday they start for real! It's on at 1:00 so my afternoon is taken up. Church at 5:00.
Waiting for the Pope's death. Praying he is in peace and that he doesn't have to linger much longer.

Hi Y'all

This is Opening Day of our lil Farmer's Mkt. Chilly, windy, and threat of rain, but we are ol diehards, and went to it...to see which Vendors were diehards too
TWO booths of Homemade breads and goodies...OH! MY ! GAWD! I scurried past both; Bob was saying, "LOOK, they have Elephant Ears (flat deepfried sweet yeasty dough)"
I told him, it had been 5 years since I had one, and I still had the rest of my life to avoid them...

Did a lot of looking, but weather still too unsettled here to buy things that need Babysitting. Got a few Licorice and Heliotrope plants for baskets.

Gotta run now

Good Saturday Gang!

We have a rainy day up here today, sneux expected too! Some kinda storm passing thru from stateside...not a "Colorado low" Roger!

DD called from Heathrow this morning they were just boarding. DH will pick them up around supper time. I will be at their house with Sassy and Oliver.
Bin vacuuming several times a day to keep the hair down from Sassy, giving me a cough. Glad she is going home for her sake too, to see her Mom and get some familiar TLC.

Linda,
The only reason we give the options of those sf candies is from the nutrionists advice, so the clients don't gain those unnecessary pounds. We have a mulitdisciplinary team to help design the programs so they give us all kinds of options.
We always have at least 8 groups running across the City.
I have one guy right now trying to lose 55lbs that he gained. Everyone does it their way. I had another guy sucessfully quit by eating "pringles and crunchie bars" nightly. They hit "the spot" for him, of course he gained over 40lbs.
I have found over the last decade helping people to quit, that quitting is a very individual process, as is smoking.
Our seasoned leader of this section has been involved in Smoking Cessation for over 20 years now, says, "The Oncologist does not have to have Cancer to help his patients." We just have to be the catalyst that is there while they are trying and offer as many options that might help. Just wanted to explain.

LORETTA! WHAT A LITTLE LADY LEAH IS GROWING INTO!
BIG SHOES TO FILL OR WHAT?

I get Ella back tonight, I am hoping not so much of the work that comes with it. I really do want to try to cut back on my going over there. It is a tough one!
So sorry to hear of that scar tissue on DH's eye. Sounds like he is coping very well and that he will be able to compensate along with your TLC.

Roger,
ROLMA! quote: "I should have bought ONE to keep on hand for when I get constipated;" just hit my funny bone! Thank you for the chuckle.
I have not been brave enough to put the CD in the computer, as I need my lines of communication to survive. Dsil returns tonight so I may just give it a try, as he can always help out with the fix....but it may be a couple of days, if he takes it in work again.
Great going on the curry bargains. I would have to shop in Ogdensburgh and may not even find those stores. It is quite a ways north of you.
What kinda sauce are ya servin with the Duck???? drool:

Julie,
I heard a peaceful comment last night on the coverage of the Pope awaited death, "that the door of heaven is open and waiting for him." Let's hope we all manage to reach 84 and beyond in good health.
You can certainly have our rain from the East coast today!

Ginny,
Thanks for asking, but Sassy is not home yet, just a few more hours. I think I am allergic to her fur. Oliver is so fine haired that it doesnt seem to bother me. My parents were both asthmatic so maybe I will develop this in my old age, hope not!
Wow, good fer you, a one-eyed wonder gal! A nurse that I work with wears a false eye. She too has compensated, she does exceptional work on the computer, a really quick thinker and pays attention to detail. I am a one-Eared wonder. I need another hearing aid for my other ear soon, my work insurance covers for it but only every 3 years, coming up in November! Can't wait!

Shawnee,
I noticed a few shoots yesterday from my tulips, just piercing the ground, surprizing what a little SUNshine does for the plants. This rain should wash the newly released mud and leaves away. We are excited to see the grass after so long, but a dusting is coming tonight or tomorrow, hopefully we dont have to shovel anymore. Temps are staying over 0 celsius, 32F
Wonderful research on that avatar of Montana's.

Barb,
Are you out RUNning agin?
Time for R&R now the weekend is here.
How is your weather now, any signs of it clearing?

Wavin to the rest of our gang.

Finally getting here. It's pouring rain and the rivers haven't crested yet. Guess we are in for some flooding in the valleys. Maybe tomorrow I'll take the camera out and take some pictures.

Roger, LOL I never bought those Russell Stover sugar free eggs but did like the regular full sugar Raspberry,Vanilla Cream and Maple Cream eggs. Yummm, haven't had one in years though. My most favorite easter candy was Fanny Farmer's Butter Cream egg...a really HUGE one. Wow!!

I don't suppose that Hudson River ever overflows her banks near you, does she? Would seem that the water would just go out into the Atlantic.

Shawnee Elephant EarsHow on earth did you pass those up? Boy you are one strong gal.

How nice that your farmer's markets are starting. They are a sure sign of spring.

Meant to ask you if you can grow Stevia in your zone. My friend in Arkansas just planted some, and I would love to grow some in my deck pots for the hell of it.

Julie, hope your mariners won. It must be exciting for you to know that the season has started.

Poor Pope. He was quite a man, an outstanding peace maker and a world class diplomat. Even though I didn't agree with everything, I had a tremendous respect for him. May he rest in peace.

Ginny, Is that Huntsville, Alabama? My brother was stationed there years ago. He was a Marine. Enjoy the orchid show.

Looking forward to trying some of your wonderful soaps.. It was a pleasure to talk with you today.

Addicted ones are doing OK for now. ( including me ) It's a matter of one day at a time.

Loretta, what a shame that the MRI showed so much scar tissue, but at least he can still see fairly well with the other one.

We all can see why you LOVE being that beautiful little gal's grandma. She is just precious.

I just bought those Jolly Roger sugar free sour hard candies and YUCK!! Just a few and my tummy really acted up. No more!!

Susan, You know what most of us low carbers think of nutritionists.

"The Oncologist does not have to have Cancer to help his patients." LOL cancer isn't an addiction that is more difficult to break than heroine.
I do admire people who are trying to help, but for someone who has never smoked, they really don't have a clue no matter how long they have been involved.

Hope you dry out for some of the weekend. It's miserable here.

Barb and Jackie, what are you two up to this weekend?

More later.

edited to add:DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD TONIGHT. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS.

Hi again

I'll stay away from the religious/political stuff, and just say I'm glad the Pope had a good Passing. He seemed to ge a GOOD man.

HEY !! Knock off the CANDY EGG talk....(visions of Cadbury eggs)...weak knees,...oh, my!

SO Montana and Ginny, what did y'all think about each other's voices?

Montana, Yup on the Stevia. Several years back, Jacki and I went to a Nursery that carried unusual plants. Jacki is the Queen for getting "odd" plants. I grew a Stevia on my deck, it got sun til around 2 PM, and thrived ! I didn't care for the taste of the leaves, but it was a pretty "conversation" plant.
I grow a lot of stuff just for the hell of it. Like Grapes, Cherries, Kiwi, etc...and never get any because the birds and squirrels are willing to eat them before they ripen.
Those Elephant Ears are similar to Fry Bread....just sweeter. My lingering, biggest weakness anymore is CHOCOLATE....I try to keep some LC fudge around for those 3 AM "gonna eat the house down if I don't get CHOCOLATE'' times....GAWD, in pre-LC days, I would actually drive to a 24 hr. Store....

LOL, another confession: I'd purposely go to the Bakery section after 6 PM, when the day's baked goods were sold @ 6/ a Buck ! That's part of the reason why I "comforted" myself up to 170 lbs.

Ginny, good to hear y'all have a reliable Pony Express there; would ya believe, if I mail a letter from Longview to Kelso ( "sister" towns , divided by a river)...the letter is sent to Portland, 45 miles away, to be sorted first!!!
I've decided to plant the CatMint under the EVA Rose...ShawnPup used to lie under it, and the Chuckster still hangs out there.
Good luck with you plants atthe OrKid Show.

Loretta, as long as your DH can see to bait his hook, he's ok! (priorities)
Bless his heart, Life isn't fair...but its what we have, so we gotta try to make the best of it. Sounds like he does just that!
The pic I posted of charmin' lil Leah was the one you E-mailed me; I couldn't get the origional one to work. Is she gonna join in the Family Runners?

SuSUN, I'n not clear re your DH's possible neck surgery. Will it eleviate pinched nerves/pressure/help his legs?
I bet you are one happy Gramma, getting your Ella back...and Sassy's tail will be wagged-worn out, from the thrill of having Mom home.

LOL on SuSUN and Ginny: One eyed, one eared.....flyin' Purple People Eater ! Sorry, I have a cheap sense of humor.

I'm getting more like Golden Girl Sophia every day...and enjoying it!

Hey Barb, tell us about the Bikini-snow thing.

Julie, tell us...are you able to wear sandals? Just nosey, when thinking about all that time on your toes...just the pointy-toed heels of my younger years have made my toes look not so charming.

Bob has been updating batteries in the smoke alarms and clocks...YIKES, he's already changed the wall clock here in the puter room...drives me nuts, I've lost an hour already.

later

You guy's are a riot today...

Shawnee, my toes look like hell. Corns and genetics. Not sure it was the toe ballet shoes but the sign of the times. Working a dept store elevator for the year after we married standing in spike heels all day long. Could only sit if it was before or after hours!! Now that was a killer even for a 20 year old.

Linda, words of wisdom for Nick. He has tried quitting smoking at least twice this last month. He knows and I know exactly what to do but it all comes down to WANTING TO! I feel so sorry for him as he really deep down doesn't want to. He knows and I've told him often enough (lol) he has to really want it. I told him to treat it just like his pot addiction. He agrees! Guess I can hope they raise that sales tax they're trying to get through, on cigs. Not that that will help any either...

SuSun, what a wonderful quote.
"that the door of heaven is open and waiting for him."
Ok, now I know what a PHP code is but why does it say that in front of the quote? Learning, learning..........

Just returned from Church. It was so solemn and the church was packed. Many more people than usual. Time to go eat, pork chops coming off the BBQ.....yummmmm
