MVM's Good Friday...March 25
Whine, whine, whine. My nose is so stuffed up and I'm SICK!!! UGH!!
But thought I would get this started. Just got a call from my MIL. The entire family on that side is getting together for easter dinner at an Italian Restaurant Sat. night for dinner. It's quite good for low carbers because they have steaks and seafood with salads and lots of vegetables. Sunday, if I'm better, we will take my mom out to dinner. I just can't get into cooking this year. Then it's off to visit my kids and grand brats. Shawnee, just how long are you having that company? Hope you are enjoying the heck out of them. Susan, glad there was no metal in those eyes and hope the MRI finds out what the heck is wrong with your poor DH. Roger, any plans for the weekend such as looking for a vehicle? Wish I could find an Infiniti here but nothing in our papers the past few days. Julie, How are your allergies doing? Hope you are feeling better. Loretta, Hope your DS is not in too much pain. Boy is he ever lucky. Are you taking at least 1200 mg of calcium and Vit D? My bone density is OK since I have been on it. Well, that and the HRT helps. Ginny, I"m still green with jealousy over your warm temps. So what's on your easter dinner menu? Jackie, where the heck are you? Barb, are you having fun with the gals? Check in and let us know what you are up to, OK? Waving to lurkers and anyone I missed. |

Hi Linda, poor sweetie!! Get well and take care.
Yep, allergies are worse this year than I've had in 30 years. I took allergy shots for many years and haven't really been too bothered with them since. This is the time of the year I will get it if I am going to. Not sure why the asthma lately. I only have one spell in the evening and my Albuteral takes care of it. Easter dinner?? Well, DD asked us for brunch as her DD is coming over from Seattle. Then my DS1 called and asked us over for dinner...looks like I'll be eating all day long..or trying not to eat too much. My big worry is Easter candy. Too much chocolate around. Got to have a talk with myself! Got to hit Costco tomorrow and am not happy about going on Friday before a holiday but will get there when it opens. Plan on some suzy stuff as this place is the pitts... Have a good day gang!

Good morning Linda, Julie, Shawnee, et al,
Linda, So sorry you got that Spring cold, I always find them the WORST to deal with. Stay warm, watch some awful daytime TV and have some hot merlot with a cinnamon stick. Lipitor raised HDL in all studies from 5-14% depending on dosage and study. Not much but it's in the right direction. My first Lipitor dosage (20 mg.) took my horrible 28 HDL to a slightly less intolerable 35, so I got the high end off the curve +25%. Drinking gets it up into the 50's but it's a Hobson's choice because controlling drinking for me means all or nothing. What I need is a good substitute for the alcohol to keep me in the 50's. I'm hoping the low dose niacin does the trick and I'm trying to remember 125 mg. with every meal. Damn, they're quartered pills with shapr edges that poke on the way down...gotta take them CAREFULLY! My LDL's are in the low 80's...so not a problem. Unfortunately Low carb/High fat diet for 18 months did NOTHING good for my blood lipids. Julie, Do you think your allergies are tied to that dry Winter you guys had? Today Bob begins 3 weeks of a STEADY work assignment and poor Christ spends 3 hours on the cross. The least I can do in sympathy is THREE HOURS of ab work. Yeah right, by 3 PM I'd be BEGGING for a Roman solier to stick a lance into my side. But I WILL do what I can. Off to the A&P with my cart for their Pepsi 12-Packs at $2.25...a good stock up price and there's a large variety under the Pepsi banner but they SOOO often to be out of the Diet Variety...won't stores learn that EVERYBODY buys DIET soda not the sugary goo! My favorite is PepsiONE but I like variety day to day. p.s....here's a GOOD computer deal AND IT HAS A FLOPPY. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...RCCODE=WEM858C

Gee,I feel badly having a great time when so many others are SICK!!
Had a good time getting away and catching up on other's lives. Sometimes our problems are nothing compared to what some have to deal with health and family. I have convinced one to do LC to help deal with health problems. I'm such a great model! LOLLeaving today for home, snow showers here and rain, but happy to have the moisture. As you can see, I FINALLY have an avatar of my backyard! LOL Well, I had to drive down the road and use the zoom, but nevertheless, it's in view. THANKS CHERI! Will have a chance to catch up and address each and everyone later -- Barb

Good GOOD FRIDAY to y'all!
It is a lovely sunny day with a terrific blue sky up above! Linda, So sorry to hear of that seasonal cold. Could be related to quitting, the washing away and repairing of your lungs and tract. Great stuff eh? Yes, DH is on the countdown now to Thursday for the MRI but not sure when he will get the results, so could be a tad longer wait again. Barb, What a Magnificient View you have! Glad you had a good time this week. Great that you convinced another one into our fold. Roger, What a cutie that kitty is! A lovely avatar so gentle after the violent eruption before! We have crab legs for supper tonight the old habit of fish on Good Friday thing! Works for us! DH wants rice with it, I am trying to convince him to have mashed cauliflower...mock mash! Any other suggestions welcome. I have several veggies as sides. Hi Shawnee, I think we saw a glimpse of you run thru! Hope you are still enjoying your company. Julie, Glad to see you posting after your battle with those pesty allergies. Take it easy on the Suzy stuff some of those cleaners can irritate the heck out of you. Loretta, Hope you check in today, sending extra hugs for Leah ![]() Ginny, Wishing you and your FurKids a relaxing Easter weekend...and some time beside the grill! Jacki, Oh our creative one! Gotta clear some more paperwork as DH is working on the Income Tax forms. SuSUN |

![]() Picture of Gram and all of her DGKs taken last Sunday when there were here for Birthday Celebration. I just have been too busy to get this photo published. Have car shopping on my mind. My DS lives up north in Ill. He is a bachelor. He has been able to go to work. Says he has some bruising in his groin, probably from hitting the stick shift. Zip I looked up some receipts I have for the b 5 and looks like I started taking it somewhere around the beginning of 2003. Have you tried the flush free niacin, 500 mg? No side effects for me. What a deal on that Pepsi. I drink the caffeine free diet. Just one can a day. My sons are into Mt. Dew Diet. Susun I forgot to tell you that Leah's tubes have plugged up. They are trying to open them with some rx and if that does not work, it is new tubes for her. Will you be celebrating on Easter Sunday? Linda enjoy that meal with all of your in laws. Going out to eat is a very nice thing to do. NO DISHES and everyone can eat what they prefer. Hope you cold lets you enjoy. Are you making Easter Baskets for the grandkids? I am just giving them some cash. Barb your backyard sure is beautiful. Thanks for the pic. Glad you enjoyed your Get Away. How was the yoga spa? Did you yoga???? Hey Shawnee, hi to ya. Hope your company does not wear you out. I get the next set coming in the beginning of April, not sure how many or for how long. Julie hope you feel better? Are you making Easter baskets for the dgks? Guess I am feeling like a guilty grannny not doing that. Easter candy does not bother me except for PEEPS. DS got me a huge stuffed Peep basket for my birthday. IO have resisited so far but just might have to eat a Peep or 2 before its all over. Ginny will you get some extra days off with the Easter holiday? Doing anything special. How about Easter treats for the pups? What's for dinner. We are having Veal Pocket to satisfy DH's appetite for tradition. Hope I fix it right. Later I must get organized so I can car shop next week. Think I will stick with the Honda. My Ds that works for Toyota says that Honda makes a better engine. Peace and contentment to all Loretta |

Hi Y'all
I'm in a Time Lull temporarily: everyone left, and I will be out mowing in a bit, if the rain doesn't start. My DSon came Monday, so he was here full time, his 15 YO local DSon on off-school hours, and all the rest were local friends and relatives on an in and out basis. I want laid back and relaxed stuff as much as I can, so no elaborate planning ahead. (Just make sure there's lots of food and drink in the larders) No fuss about the foods, I'm a good cook, and everyone pitches in. DSon brought a ham, etc too. The hardest part of long-term visiting for me is paying attention for lengthy periods of time, with lots of people. I'm so deep into my hermitage now, I marvel over my fast-paced, multi-tasking working years with the public....especially the St. Employment Office. Must have been living on adrenalin back then. ![]() I love and enjoy them all...glad to see 'em come, glad to see 'em go. One was a 2 1/2 YO boy for several visits...WOW, I'd forgotten how much attention lil kids require. I am not looking forward to any new babies in the family, just not up to it. (I've served my time already)![]() Loretta, OH, your poor DS! Thankfully he wasn't hurt worse...still, That's gotta be painful! ![]() I'd told Bob earlier about the car incident, and how you are the kind (like me) who gets attached to your car. Called him in to see the pic of "my lil buddy Loretta" and he said that YOU looked like a kid, and its TRUE! YOU are just one of a group of CUTE KIDS. SuSUN, sorry it takes so long to get answers for your DH. My brain is still tired, think I'll sneak in a nap before mowing...and catch up later. to all Shawnee |

8 hrs. in a car -- enough, enough!! We had a good time talking about Easter customs when we grew up. I'll NEVER forget Good Friday at my house. Being a strict Catholic, my mom insisted on quiet, silence, etc. on Good Friday. We always wore new clothes for Easter, from underwear to shoes to hats. I always hated Easter with snow on the ground and having to wear those white shoes and Easter clothes and then freeze to death during the service. Then there was the hiding of the Easter baskets!
Anyone else go through all of this? Zip, enjoyed your Good Friday humor. Did we grow up in the same household? Bless you Shawnee, I agree with "good to see them go" part. I enjoy little kids as long as they go home. You can tell I don't have grandkids. I enjoy having company that can b e relaxed and help themselves.Help me Loretta, which one is you in that picture??? I hope you get another Honda!! They are the most dependable car we've had - my DH always says: has not left me walking yet". SuSun -- I sent you an email. Linda, how's the no smoking campaign going? Having one side of the family dying from "lung" problems, I support you all the way!! Zip, I can't find the original news thingy on Atkins anymore but was on Yahoo News. It basically said that since low carb was waning, they would have to switch from net carbs to GI to be in the news!! Linda, this is NOT refering to those who KNOW what they are doing on an Atkins plan. Later, DH is feeling a little neglected.......... Barb ![]() |

Mutter, mutter
Had a real long post and lost it by hitting something and Ctrl Damn it!Anyway, decided to not go to dinner with Gerard's family tomorrow night and my mom on Sunday. Don't want to give this crap to anyone. Roger, Did you ever try low carb and lower fat like Loretta and I ? Loretta's intake of fat is much less than mine but mine is not really high. It did take at least a year for my lipids to start improving, but they got better each year after. Humm, wonder if I can talk Gerard into getting another computer FAT CHANCE.Oh Barb, DROOL!! You have such a spectacular view from your back yard. I'm jealous. The mountains are my most favorite place to be. Can't even explain the feeling I get when I'm there. Glad you are home safe and sound. LOL 8 hrs. is really long enough to sit in a car. Its really hard on the ol tail bone. OUCH! LOL another former Catholic remembering, not so fondly, those good Friday and Easter rituals. White gloves, shoes, quiet and long Mass at church. No problem at all with this no smoking. I can't really believe it's been so easy so far. Keep your fingers crossed. Sorry you have so many in your family dying of lung problems. Susan, OMG what time is dinner? I just love crab legs. A good lc, home made coleslaw is always good with them and those Mock Cheddar bay biscuits from the recipe room. YUMMM Nope, this is a full blown head cold and sinus infection. Just hope it doesn't go into my chest but do have a back up Z pack just in case. Loretta, Wow Oh dear, poor Leah. I hope the treatment works to unplug those tubes. Keep us posted. Oh God, your poor DS. He is going to be hurting for a long time. Poor guy. Continued good wishes for a speedy recovery for him. No baskets just Easter bags. One little bunny and some kid toy things, that's all. Shawnee, Glad you are getting a break in that company. You must be very organized to have all the food prepared and ready so you can just relax and enjoy without too much fuss. Nice too that your DS helps out. It's always nice to see everyone but sooooo good when they leave. Hermitage is so nice, eh? I love mine. Yeah, how the heck did we do it in the work a day world? This life is sooo much better.Hope you got that nap in before the mow. I know how you love to get out there in that beautiful yard of yours. |
