Waving to the others. Off to bed cause I have to get up early for my yearly GYN crap. UGH. |

I'm here! Just haven't felt like posting! Have had some asthma and allergies have been really bad.
Linda, WTG on not smoking the past few days! Guess we'll nag you until it's for good. You will thank us down the road. Now where did you pick up a cold. Watch out as I know how bad your asthma can kick in with colds. Rest, rest, rest sweetie. Blizzard??? My gosh, aren't you ever going to get spring? Good luck at the GYN tomorrow. Our fav thing to do, huh? Loretta, OMG you must be so thankful your son didn't get hurt any worse. Lucky boy! Like Ginny said, cars can be replaced! WTG on the lipid tests! I'm taking lots of fish oil but not the lecithin granules. I should be getting mine down in May and we'll see if mine improve too. They weren't bad last year but can always hope for better HDL. I think mine was 68 last year. Ginny, I love all the L & O too. Do you watch the CSI shows too? Have you seen Boston Legal on Sunday night? It is my fav show right now. Humor is subtle but sure makes me laugh. Desperate Housewives? Another good one to follow. Ok, so I'm a TV nut! SuSun, my goodness, it's bad enough to have to get all those tests but need a test to see if he can have the MRI. At least they are taking precautions. Wishing him luck to hopefully find out what is wrong. Shawnee, geeez, good luck converting your houseguests!! Barb, nice of you to check in. Are you eating right? Waiting till you get home and then trying to get those lbs off? Ignore me...... Have a great time and think of all the calories you'll burn, burn baby!! Roger, hope you didn't get woke up at the crack of dawn this morning! Rude, rude, rude!!! Well, off to bed!! Sunshine again tomorrow but cool!

Good Morning Linda, Julie,
Julie, We were allowed to sleep til without the dawn serenade. I guess Bob's going up in person made an impact...I hope one personal visit is enough to last. Linda, What a difference a couple degrees makes. We had snow/sleet rain all day but the temperature never went below 35 so all we have this morunung is a 1/2 inch of slush in the streets. I think we can even roll the cart to ShopRite and BJ's. Loretta, What a WONDERFUL improvement in your Lipid panel. To WHAT do you attribute the drop of 107 points TC and the LDL by 68 points? I know you've gone to low fat and Vitamin B-5. Did Lecithin come into your picture between the two readings? Fill me in. Did you let your carbs go up much to compensate for the fat or is it basically ALL PROTEIN for you? How about daily wine? And WHY do you give blood 6 times a year? That sounds a bit too much to me. So sorry about your Honda, but thank god your son is ok...he could have easily been CRUSHED. I guess that's a good testimony to Honda's passenger cage integrity. Bob, going out with "girlfriend" today so I'll be a good gym bunny and do hard iron. He just got scheduled for the next three weeks FULL TIME...and that will be good to help build up the the 2006 Unemployment Insurance but it will be a lonesome 3 weeks for me. Oh he got the disability sticker yeaterday so I'll be CAR SHOPPING. (Nuts, I wish I had that INFINITI...never see a deal THAT good again.) Damn weightloss is fighting me, but if I don't know that PATIENCE is required by now I never will. WAVES to everyone.

Morning to all.....
Good to see you posting Julie. I'm a TV addict also and watch all of those shows -- Boston Legal is great, love that humor!! I watch all of those CSI shows and keeps me busy all week. OMG Loretta, thank goodness he's ok but does need to get checked out. Brings back memories of my DD's accident in our "former" Honda. She had to go in after all for neck pain and ended up with PT for weeks. We went with a Civic, 2005, for her after the smoked cleared. Blood work is great!! I have the same questions as Zip, so....... Shawnee, having fun yet? I hate cooking for others - sometimes so fussy!!Linda, having fun today? My blood work did show a low TSH level and have started on Levoxyl. Since I have three sisters on thyroid meds you would think I would figure out what's going on. I'm hoping it doesn't take long to regulate. I had to laugh when the pharm. information read says NOT to take these meds JUST to lose weight!! Had I known it would be that easy......I'm also glad I never did Atkins, old/new/reformed plan because now I would be confused. I did my doc's LC plan but it's on the news that Atkins has to change their plan to get more sales! GI, that's the way to go now! Just teasing, those who know what they are doing are fine but I hate to visit the main board and see what changes people are going through. OK - shower just opened up -- catch the rest later Barb

Barb,
Tell us about the Atkins changes on the news, although, for me, it's only of HISTORICAL (or HYSTERICAL! ) interest.I DID spot THIS tidbit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4354279.stm Last edited by zip2play : 03-24-2005 at 08:37 AM. |

Mornin' gang,
Not much new to report here. Supposed to be 63 and partly cloudy today. In the 70's then through the weekend. Ahhhhh! The greenhouse will start going NUTS soon with this warm weather! Linda, feel better, hon! Hope you didn't have any trouble getting off the hill in the new white crap. Loretta, how's DS doing today? Your blood work sure came back great...WTG! May need to back down a little on the blood donation to let your body recover better. We don't want you run down! Julie, hope you're feeling better too. Are you still running Granny's Taxi? We watch L & O and CSI regulary. We used to watch NYPD Blue, but of course that's ended now. Haven't watched Boston Legal, not sure when it's on here, but on Sunday nights we do watch L & O Criminal Intent. Now that the new L & O is on Fridays, we have something for every night but Saturday. Gotta love the VCR--fast forward through the commercials! Zip, y'all dodged the bullet keeping it over 32*. Hope the slop is gone soon before you get a chance of freezing and the resulting ice. That is NO fun! Barb, good to see you checking in. Hope you're having a great spring break!! Hi to all,

HI to all
Another busy day here for me. Went for Bone Density test this am. Had to wait about 1/2 hr before she took me even though I had an appointment. My patience was thin. My bones are heading for osteoporosis and I am in the osteopenia stage. My numbers were mostly in the neg. DS was taken by ambulance to the hosptial after the wreck with his forehead strapped to the board. They did xrays there on his legs, he was checked over pretty well. I could not get there until most of the testing was done. He was a little sore but that was his biggest complaint. I'm pretty sure the insurance co will not fix the Honda since her value is about $2100. It would cost a lot more than that to fix. Zip my last blood work was done in Sept of 2003. I have been taking the lecithin for 3 or 4 yrs. I just recently added flush free niacin 500 and increased the folate to 1200 daily. I try to watch my fats but do still eat butter, steak, beef. Wine is once a day with supper about 6 to 8 ounces. Drinking my coffee black all the time also. I will be cutting back on the blood giving to every other 56 days and now am taking iron. Don't know why I gave so often but that is the norm, 56 days between draws. Ginny your sure do have better weather than we do here in Ky. Barb how are you feeling now that you have started on the Levoxyl? We sure do inherit so many things with those genes. Enjoy the break. Julie sure hope you get to feeling better. Do you all have any plans for Easter. My step DD and her family will be here. I am going to fix a VEAL POCKET. Veal Breast with stuffing, a Slovak Easter treat. Susun hope you don't have to wait for long to get those results for DH and get some treatment for him, if needed. Enjoy your Easter with Ella. Are you fixing a basket for her? Linda hope you are feeling better also. Sorry about the MORE snow events. I would be sick of that white stuff. Do you have ANY signs of spring? Shawnee enjoy the company. Loretta |

Thanks Loretta,
So the differences between 2003's reading and the current seems attributable to the combo of low fat and niacin...I doubt the folate has much to do with it except to improve homocysteine. Is that ONE 500 mg. Niacin slow release per day? Isn't the pantothenic acid something new since those results 2 years ago? I've added 2 or 3 pieces of fast acting niacin, about 125 mg. each. I can take that on a full stomach but any MORE gives me an SCARY flush. I'm looking to kick my HDL's up a notch or two...the Lipitor takes care of everything else. I'll get my lipid panel done in the next two weeks and ssee where I stand. Looks like we are done with any freezing...45 today and 50 tomorrow with nothing predicted below 38°F for the next 7 days. Back again. This new snow is melting pretty quickly. Thank heavens.
Found this interesting little tid bit on the BBC news site Roger. Did you see it? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3722221.stm Seems the scientists say that Atkins raises HDL levels... Lipitor also lowers HDL unfortunately. Keep us posted on your vehicle shopping. Oh and I must thank you for the new avatar. everytime I see that kitty, I just smile. It's so CUTE!!! Julie, bummer on the allergies and asthma acting up. Do you see a good board certified Allergist/Immunologist too? Wish you could see mine. He is great and has helped considerably. Susan, YIKES I forgot about the metal cautions with MRI. I sincerely hope he doesn't have any in his eyes and can have the scan. Maybe they will get to the bottom of his illness. Barb, there is nothing confusing about the original Atkins plan at all. Protein, legal vegetables, nuts, healthy oils and low glycemic fruits. Unfortunately those processed products were the brain child of Atkins Nutritionals and a money making venture. Bet Dr. Atkins is sorry he sold his name to them. Fun at the GYN's???? I'm not t hat kinky yet. Ginny, OMG I'm so jealous of the temps in your area. Your greenhouse is going to love it too. We want PICTURES when things take off. Gee I NEED to start watching regular programs. NYPD Blue was one of my favorites. Maybe I'll force my self to turn off the news and check some of those new ones out. Loretta, after looking at your menus on the golden, they aren't much different than Atkins or Protein Power, except I see you dont' eat processed crap and you are using a lot of low fat products. Yeah, lay off the frequent blood donations. That's a bit much for us older folks. ![]() Have you been looking at cars yet? Bet you will get another Honda, eh? They are SWEET!! Gotta go rest a bit. This cold is making me crazy and I've only had it a day or so. Big Baby ME. Got an emergency Z pack just incase it goes to my chest. Later gang. Waving to Shawnee and Jackie.
