Wednesday for MVMs
Good morning,
Up at the crack of dawn to Hip-Hop again...Bob went upstairs and the guy promised to be quieter. Bob said there was almost no furniture in the apartment. I was hoping to go shopping for staples this morning but the rain came in at 9AM...for the next 6 DAYS! OY, that's going to be gloomy. At least we enjoyed a very nice day yesterday (sunny and 50 degrees) with a SPECTACUALAR Macy's Flower Show (lots of orchids.) Equally impressive was a show at the Met of Dianne Arbus' Photography. She was the premiere photographer of life in New York throught the 50's and 60's with a wonderful quirky eye ...she liked the FRINGES of society in spite of growing up very wealthy and going to the best schools. She offed herself, ala Sylvia Plath, in 1971 at the age of 48 after achieving WORLD FAME! There were hundreds of her large photographs. We scotched the idea of Korean because I found a good deal on big tortilla wraps...I made steak wraps that were good in spite of these horrid greasy ground and pressed "steak-ummms" kind of crap...the grease DRIPPED out of the wrap <yechhh, never again...I've had BACON that was MUCH less greasy.> For some unknown reason BJ's has stopped carrying Steak-EEZ which were delicious rolls of BEAUTIFUL shaved steak. I PRAY they start carrying them again. I'm gonna work on some WRAP recipes...I'm new to it but I like the idea of the fast and yummy one-roll meal. Susun, Korean is sort of Szechuan but hotter mixed with lots of the Japanese "hot-pot" kind of cooking...and also the Mandarin noodle and dumpling kind of stuff; really a fusion of Far Eastern but with no hint of Indian, nor Thai. Some cooking at the table. It's a very interesting way to deal with food but I don't have too much experience with it. I'd like to get into it more but it's really only concentrated in one part of town (Herald Square) and we only go if we are near. Unfortunately it's near hotels where lots of Korean businessmen stay and hence the food tends to be, how can I say, LESS inexpensive than we prefer??? Linda, Kudos on quitting weeds, now go ONE more step and stop the occasional ciggy and puffs. It's akin to a marathoner (26 miles 385 yards) going the first 26 miles and not going the few yards to the finish line...You CAN do it; we're all rooting. Otherwise you're playing with fire (I know, I HAD one puff after 8 years and it was a pack a day within ONE week and it took me a YEAR to stop again. )Like your daughter having only the very occasional oxycontin? ![]() GO LINDA! Ginny, those smokin pony tails do smell great though, don't they? ![]() Barb, Enjoy the AZ visit with the girls...don't pick up any strange men...UNLESS THEY'RE CUTE! Best to you all... p.s. I'll post a couple Flower Show pix after i get the oomph to deal with photobucket....I GOTTA make my own website!<procrastinate>

I'm connected!! Checking in from the hotel, last night we just HAD to stay up late and TALK!!
Linda, that was a great pep talk from Zip!!! You ARE playing with fire and Ginny actually is - You were lucky Ginny that it didn't spread any further! Hair ties!! Where IS Julie? Some people just NEVER stay home! My DH just had a physical last week. That was funny to say the least. He considers himself in good health but.......... doc says that his blood pressure is evelated, overweight, and blood work isn't in yet. I like this doc, he says that half of the population have evelated BP and the other half already died. My little group is being very olympic, expect me to get dressed and out the door for some exercise. Later, Barb

Good morning everybody,
Didn't get here last night because I finally pooped out and hit the sack earlier than usual. Yeah where are the rest of the gang? Roger, glad you got to the Flower Show and the Met. You do realize how very lucky you are to have such wonderful events just about at your door step, don't you? Just keep complaining about that upstairs neighbor to the management and maybe they will throw him out. Jeeezzzz, If they don't do something, call the police. Thanks for the kick in the azz, I do know you are absolutely right. I NEED to stop once and for all, even that little one a day. On the greasy, drippy steak- umms. Can your butcher shave a better cut of beef for you? Our local grocery store has it already done in the fresh meat case. Check it out.Barb, you are going to need a vacation to rest up from your vacation if you keep up those late night chats. Ginny, yeah as Barb said, "hair ties". That is so dangerous. Running out before the "Blizzard" starts. LOL the radio said it will begin at 2 PM and continue until 4AM. Yeah, like they are always right. |

Hey gang,
Warm but cloudy/rainy here. Still, I'll take it! Not much new going on. Yesterday I followed proper 'hair' proceedure and had no further singes to the mess as I worked the grill. Hope all are doing well today......back later if something happens! |

I have been MIA here for a day or so.
Today's events included and auto accident for Oldest Ds who was on his way home. The accident happened here in Ky. IT was a 5 car wreck with him more or less in the middle. He was driving my Honda, because his truck is here getting fixed here, not safe enough to drive back to ILL. The Honda is totaled I am pretty sure, back end almost in the front end and front end with all of its guts hanging out. Thank God he is fine with just a few scraps on his legs. He was at a stop light standing still. IT was a chain reaction type of accident. We rented a car which I have and he is using our other vechicle to drive home in. He is a little sore. He will be back on his days off, maybe Monday and his truck will be fixed. I will shop for a new car. Pictures of wrecked Honda later. Good news today also. Total cholesterol: 243(wow) Last one was 350 HDL 136 (wow) LDL 101 (wow) Last one was 169 Trig: 28 (wow) Guess all of my supplements are working. I am excited about that good news. Problem my blood count is way too low. Doc wants me to take iron for a few months and then recheck. I have been giving blood every 56 days. I guess this old bod cannot reproduce new cells fast enough. I have been feeling sluggish. Very cold here in Ky. Sorry I am not more talkative, but will catch up later. GREAT NUMBERS LORETTA! WOW! is the word!I am due to get mine done, it's been so busy lately with work and DD's so I will get it done in the next few days. Yikes, on the car accident, so glad you DS is okay. Shawnee, Good fer you spreading the good word! Lower those sugars and save the insulin, Hope you are having some FUN here and there! Ginny, Hi there, lucky you operating the grill already! Linda, Take it easy and rest up after your good errand these past few days. That's a great tip about the shaved steak at the butchers. Barb, Glad to see ya checkin in with us! Enjoy your break! Roger, Thank you so much for explaining Korean food to me. I dont think we have a Korean Restaurant up here! A nurse that I work with has adopted her young son from Korea. Her DH is an RCMP officer, they have one daughter of their own. They take him home yearly to visit with his extended family. Okay, the Neuro guy ordered many vials of blood work for DH which he had taken today. He had an eye x-ray today too, necessary before the MRI next week as he has worked with metal regularly all his working life as a machinist. If a small piece of metal in his eye the magnet in the MRI would extract it and damage his eye. So we sit tight now and wait for the results but at least now something is being done. Finally!Jacki, Wavin to our creative one! SuSUN ![]() |

OMG Loretta, thank heavens your DS wasn't hurt too badly. My gosh, these kids of ours will significantly shorten our lives with worry.Damned careless drivers don't pay attention even at stop lights. Was some idiot on a cell phone or not paying attention? Way to go on the great lipid panel results. You sure are doing something right. BRAVO!! Get some rest and try to relax. Susan, We all have our fingers crossed for your DH. Hopefully they will finally get to the bottom of it and be able to develop a good treatment plan. Ginny, Warm and cloudy? LOL I could take that too. We are in the middle of yet another snow storm and could get up to 8 inches...if you can believe those jerks. Shawnee, Glad you are enjoying your company but don't envy you the task of trying to "gently" convince them to lay off the sugar. UGH! Were is Julie? Me again,
OMG Loretta, to you and your DS! So glad he didn't get seriously hurt! Cars can be replaced (no matter how much you like them!), and it seems that Honda did a good job protecting your son. Hopefully the soreness will pass, but if he hasn't already, he needs to get to a dr and get checked out.Linda, on the sneaux you're getting! You have my sympathy!Shawnee, good luck getting them off sugar! When my mom is here, we keep all the sugary stuff DH eats out of sight, and mom is OFF sugar completely. Only way we can keep the confusion to a dull roar and the sundowners under wraps (best as we can!). Susan, glad they finally started doing SOMETHING for your DH! Hope they will get it rolling quickly and figure out what to do for him. to y'all too!Well, all, time for some R&R in front of the tube.....L & O was a rerun, but will check it out and see if I remember it anyways! Night,
