MVM First Spring Monday

Good morning girls/ladies/ women!

Yesterday's show, ALTAR BOYS was a delight with Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham putting on a dazzling and funny show. Unfortunately Matthew (the lead) was a replacement and not up to the other 4. These kids can sing and dance like "nobody's business" and the skinny gay one with a VERY high voice did a number about his "coming out" in the style of a big black mama doing a 5 minute bible belt 4-barrel Baptist bluesy show stopper that that got the audience on it's feet cheering. He came out....CATHOLIC. " I'm here. I'm CATHOLIC, Get Used To it...

The downer: mid show the alarm system in the new theater complex alarmed and EVERYBODY from 4 full theaters (like 1500 people) had to evacuate to the drizzly street for 1/2 hour. NOBODY was going to move me from under the marquee. But then back in and back to the fun.

Best line:
"Hey you, there are no Jews allowed in a church."
Reply: "Well, then what about that one on the cross over the altar?"

We did a nice cheap dinner at EL DEPORTIVO a block away I had ROPA VIEJA (shredded beef), and Bob had CARNE GUISADO (beef stew)...both with copious ARROZ AMARILLO, FRIJOLES NEGROES, and FRIED YELLOW PLANTAINS (maduros fritos???)

Linda,
Are you adjusting to the smoke-free life...the cough takes a couple months to cure as I dimly recall. Is your weight holding steady?

Ginny,
How was birthday dinner?

Are you Northwesterners appreciating the rain. I know you depend on the slow release of the snow mass all summer normally; are you prepared to CATCH a quick rain with enough resevoirs?

Susun,
Let me know what your son thinks about the connection between the Ad-Aware and your problems. Lavasoft goes into pretty great detail about what the glitch/virus/worm does.

Today Bob is working (so far only today this week.) A heavy iron gym day in the dreary drizzle. and tomorrow we will do the annual MACY'S FLOWER SHOW (Herald Square Store) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art...three interesting shows this month!

Later.

edit: too good to resist.

Ever heard of the TEXAS FUTILE CARE LAW?

It is a statute in Texas that expressly gives hospitals the right to remove life support if the patient CAN NOT PAY and there is no hope of revival, REGARDLESS OF THE PATIENT'S FAMILY'S WISHES. It is called the Texas Futile Care Law. Under this law, A BABY WAS REMOVED FROM LIFE SUPPORT AGAINST HIS MOTHER'S WISHES IN TEXAS JUST THIS WEEK.
Quiz time, kids! Can you name the Texas Governor who signed this bill into law?
Can we all spell HYPOCRISY?

Mornin' y'all,

Thanks for the birthday wishes.....I did have a good one! We puttered around here most of the day, then went for a late lunch to the Chinese buffet. I stayed relatively legal, just a bit of dessert, so no 'damage' there I don't think. Food was excellent! They have a grill where you bring the raw meat/veggies you want cooked up and that would have to be the best part. Amazing how quick it all cooks, then with a little garlic sauce it's perfect! After that, WW for whatever groceries we needed, etc. Good to have that walk after a big dinner! Last night we watched some of the Blue Collar Comedy specials, what a hoot! Didn't get to see much of the original one, but those 4 guys are hysterical. Of course, it helps if you KNOW people like who they are talking about

Loretta and Susan, best wishes for your DHs' stuff today!

Zip, did you check to see when the orchid show is?

Julie, ever make it out of your jammies yesterday?

Linda, you WERE kidding on the previous sneauxfall amount, right???

Shawnee, get any rain this weekend?

Barb, what adventure did y'all have planned to keep you from posting this weekend?

Off to get in a lurk or 2 before kickstarting my butt off this chair.....

to Ginny!! I'm so sorry I missed the party, would you send me a piece of cake? What did you do? Have you made any great plans for the coming year?

Boy Zip, you have such an exciting life!! That play sounds great! Did they say why you had to evacuate? You have so many great opportunities.

Linda, read that you are at Meri's and hope she is doing ok -- I'm sure the shock will come later. She does have a great support system with family and friends.

We have Spring Break this week and I have this cleaning bug. I was going to read a book, go shopping, and hope it passes. Of course we are expecting rain/snow and last night it did snow a little. But we take all of the moisture we can get.

Zip, have you persued your running program? I've used CoolRunning.com in the past but now just make up my own intervals. The treadmill is much easier on the feet but I do need to get out in to the wind also.

to all....... Barb

Ginny,

The Orchid show is the Twelfth throught the 17th of April. We are trying to dig up some freebie tickets (WTC was always free but Rockefeller Center charges.)
NYC Botannical Gardens is also running their own NOW, but it's a haul ass trip to the BRONX, an unsafe neighborhood, and a PRICEY admission.
I'll take some pics at Macy's tomorrow ...there's always several lovely orchid settings.

Barb,
I'm trying to get a handle on what I can do on the treadmill...gee, I stink at running because My knees have to handle my 215# weight...the bike is better because my ASS can take the pressure of the seat and my THIGHS do all the work.

Back in my thirties I ran a 1.5 mile (about 2.5K) in 12 minutes either 2 or three times a week...but I've NEVER yet run more than 2 miles, even once. (and the 5K is 3.11 miles)

(I stationary biked 14.4 miles yesterday in exactly 40 minutes with Medium resistance (Level 8 on the LifeCycler!)
I'll continue to fiddle with the treadmill.
What is a GOOD time for the 5K????

edit: ok, found a ballpark:
Quote:
I sampled 30 males and females with a personal best in the 5k ranging from 14:30 to 22 minutes

Good Spring Monday Maintainers!

Lovely and sunny with blue skies, helping to thaw all that white stuff nicely.

Roger,
I sent the link that you posted yesterday to DSIL but he has not responded yet. He is a busy guy with his job VP and DD runs him ragged on the weekends, hardly has time for himself. So I await patiently.
I think he will run it by the IT guys at his office, they will know more about that kind of stuff. They fixed it for me, not him but he does know alot more than me about 'puters.

Sounds like the Show was a success...love those quotes.
Dinner was a good ole staple belly filler too eh?
DD's friends run marathons all the time. The DH ran for 3 hours on his treadmill last Saturday as part of his training and then they went for dinner and he said do you know how much beer I can drink now! LOL!
Very sad that story about the 41 year old mother. I will pass along to DD for her friends to read.

Linda,
I guess you are resting after the drive up to Watertown and commotion. Take it easy today! I didnt know that you were planning to stay with Meri. That is so kind of you.

Ginny,
Thank you for the good wishes for today's appointment. I am expecting a battery of diagnostic testing before we get any answers but hopefully he can point us in the right direction.
NOW tell me, what is the Blue collar show???? What channel, DH would probably love that kind of comedy.

Barb,
How wonderful Spring Break! Enjoy yourself, let ya hair down, if cleaning does that fer ya go for it!
Sounds like you are one serious runner! Good fer you!

Loretta,
Wishing you well with your DH today! Let's have a check in later.

Shawnee,
I put out some dryer lint this morning for the birds along side their food. I think that's a great recycle tip!

Julie,
What you up to today? Bowling? Lunch?
Hope your clouds have cleared.

Waving to Jacki and All,

SuSUN

Honey I'm home

Been quite a day to say the least. The funeral was very simple and tastefully done. Peter must have been a wonderful man because he had many, many friends. It's a shame that G. and I never got to meet him. Meri is a remarkable and very strong woman, and her daughters are very much like her in personality.

Tod and I are pooped even though it only took us 2 1/2 hrs to get there. This getting old is not much fun. LOL

Roger, It's wonderful that you finally got to see such a delightful, fun play but sorry about the fire alarm. Where in HELL did 1500 people go? Not all under the marquee, I hope.

LMAO at this Best line:
"Hey you, there are no Jews allowed in a church."
Reply: "Well, then what about that one on the cross over the altar?"

Welllll, I'm not absolutely totally smoke free. I have taken a puff or two several times a day but no more than one whole cigarette a day... sometimes only 1/2 of one. I haven't had a cough at all other than when I would get bronchitis. Unfortunate, because I would probably have tried to quit long before this if I had.

Looking forward to those pictures.

Ginny, great that you had a wonderful birthday. Those Mongolian grills are wonderful too cause you can get things cooked the way you want.

Thanks for the review of Blue Collar comedy special. I may have to check it out. Is it a weekly series and what channel is it on? LOL I do know a lot of people like that too.

Unfortunately I wasn't kidding on the snow fall amount this season.

Barb, enjoy spring break. Cleaning bug Wish I had it but I'm just plain compulsive about cleaning whether I like it or not.

Yes, Meri has a wonderful support system of family and friends. Her youngest daughter is thinking of moving back home from Nebraska to be close to her.

Susan, It will be interesting to learn what your SIL finds out about Ad Aware. Keep us posted.

BTW how far are you from Watertown?

No we weren't planning on staying with Meri. We never like to stay with anyone. Different sleep schedules and lack of privacy. We love to stay at hotels. Got a great deal with a senior discount AND a Funeral discount so it worked out well although it was about a 20 minute drive to the little town where the service was held.

Loretta, hope DH and you got some good news. My heart goes out to both of you. Keep us posted.

Gotta catch up on yesterday's post and see what the others are up to. IF I can stay awake.

Waving to all.

Me again,

Just a quickie on the Blue Collar Comedy that we watched....it wasn't the series, but the 2 from concert tours. The first one is called Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Movie (we only caught the end of it) and the other was Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again. Both are definitely worth a watch.

60's and sunny today, but rain predicted for tomorrow. We'll see what REALLY happens LOL

Y'all have a good night!
