New Maintainers - Wk of 3/20

Hello all! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Well, I over did it on snacking on cheese on Sunday. My wt was at 108.25 both Sat & Sun but I am up to 110.5 Monday morning. I looked back through my food/weight journal and with only a couple of exceptions my wt has ranged from 108 to 112 since last August. My lowest wt was 105.25. A couple of times my wt went up to 113/114 but dropped back within a day. So I think I need to change my stats to show maintaining between 108-112.
Have a good Monday and I'll check back later.
Vickie

Hi Corgi - You sound like me. I just need to accept the fact my body likes being between 105-108. Everytime I get myself down to 105 it is so hard to stay there without doing Induction levels and being squeaky clean. I still haven't given up on dropping on down about five pounds but it does take a lot of hard work and determination. I keep telling myself as long as I stay under 110 I'm fine but I'm just so afraid I'll get on them scales one day and it will be just that, OVER 110! I just like having a few pounds of insurance so when I feel the need to overeat a little, I can. Its funny, I had such an incredibly easy time losing weight before from 115 lbs. down to 95 lbs. It just is not working this time.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and looking forward to a nice Easter. We plan to color and hide Easter eggs with the two grandbabies, ages 3 and 13 months. Can't wait. We will all have to share our pictures later.

Hope everyone has a good lowcarb week; I'm just shooting for a good squeaky clean week myself hoping to not raise my carbs much above Induction levels.

Hi guys!!

Yes, I agree, our bods seem to like certain 'comfort zones'. But you can battle back by really watching calories ... if you haven't already measured your basal metabolic rate, you can do so at www.countcarbs.com .. use their tools link and then also figure your active metabolic rate which takes exercise and other activities into consideration to determine how many calories you should be eating.

I tell ya, counting calories DOES work. We lose sight of that fact sometimes and think all we have to do is count carbs. Not true not true.

Unfortunately, we gotta agree with the nutritionists .. a calorie is a calorie and ya gotta burn more than you take in to lose. Dadgummit!!

Have a great day everyone!

Betty

Ann, I wanted that 5lb cushion also. I will be eating sparingly this week because Easter Sunday, I will prepare dinner for my family and I will want to eat a little more than I normally would.

Betty, I have resisted counting calories. I did that for 9 months when I first started dieting. I was miserable and only lost about 19lbs during that 9 months. I was tired and sleepy and just felt terrible. I was eating what is considered healthy--lots of veggies, fruits, whole wheat breads, etc. I might give it a try again later in the Spring when I can be outside more working in my flower/vegetable gardens and get my mind off eating.

We had beautiful weather today and was able to get in a 3mi jog/fast walk after work.

Hi All,
I am with you Vickie and Ann. I reached 105 with no excersise but now with the extra muscle and working out I know I will be 108 to 112. That is my maintain weight with working out. Without it I can reach 105 pretty easy. Anyone have this much muscle gain with working out? Tom should be here any day and I really haven't gone overboard even with my anniversary weekend eating. That is a plus for me.

As far as carbs and calories are concerned. I hit a platau at 110 and my body would not drop stictly low carb. Once I added carbs and watched calories my body dropped the last weight. i will never do stricltly low carb as cheese makes me gain for some reason, so i have replaced it with healthy grains..also no carbs after noon to 3 pm is really helpful and no eating after 7. it is about 10 here and I am going to bed starving.

Anyone want to post a sample of a mid week menu and we can compare who eats what?

Mine today is B kelloggs cereal regular not low carb
L low carb veggie chips(a couple handfuls)
D huge salad with two breasts of chicken bluecheese/vinergerette dress and one chocolate

this would be a menu and an eating range that I lose. I will probably be down in the am.

Hope you all are well!
Vickie, glad the weather is permitting your jog and you are seeing sunshine
Ann I am also looking forward to Easter. I got my dd her basket together I am doing a fairytopia theme as she isn't too into candie but loves barbies and fairies! We should share photos for sure of all of that!
Hi rachel! where are you?
Hi everyone else...

It shows we are all in our range and on the low end...
for my hight accordding to the chart I should be 108 to 118. I can't imagine feeling happy at 118 but I can still squeeze into my clothes so go figure....

Hi all,
Betty, that is agreat site, thanks for sharing. I am so jealous of all of you that have young ones to share Easter with,, My 15 year old does not even want an easter basket as he does not eat candy,,( wierd kid haha) but he wants a video game instead. My other son is in Japan so I just hope that he is invited to one of the officers houses to have a nice Easter dinner, he went to one for Christmas and had a great time and was treated so great, made me feel much better knowing he was eating agood meal and was not by himself. I miss decorating eggs and hiding them around the yard. Oh well, someday (but not too soon) I will have grandkids and the fun will start again. I too am really trying to watch what I eat,, I did really good yesterday, but when I get the munchies I tend to eat too much cheese and too many peanuts., and you are right about watching the calories,, cheese and peanuts add up to alot of calories, I never really thought about it before, but now I too am trying to keep an eye on this. With our body weight we dont need as many calories to maintain. I have also gained weight with the weight liftingsl, about 2-3 pounds. But I think I definately look better toned. I hope everyone has a great day. Brenda

Good morning everyone! Well my wt was at 108.75 this morning. I dropped the water wt I gained from Sunday.

Janina, I have gained muscle and actually my measurements are a little less or the same as when I weighed 105.25lb. So I am trying to get it through my head that as long as I am lifting wts (up to 80lbs right now), getting down to 105 may be unreasonable.

Brenda, I have not decorated eggs in a long time but I do make a basket for my 5 yr old grandson. I will be making a ham dinner for my family on Easter. I love ham but I gain water wt from eating it. I did tell my grandson I may decorate some eggs for him this time so I need to do that on Saturday.

I post on the Golden Years Board and put up the Menu Thread there. You can see my menus each day there but this is what I am having today:

BR: whey protein/ricotta cheese pancakes (made with egg whites), smart balance spread, sf syrup, coffee, half/half, splenda
LN: cottage cheese, apple, walnuts
DN: grilled ground chicken burgers, romaine, tomato, mayo, coffee, half/half, splenda
Other: 2-4 oz cheese, diet cola

Got to get ready for work. Will check back later.

Hi everone. Betty, I agree with you. I have always thought calories were the bottom line especially when it comes to trying to maintain a certain weight. Its just frustrating even having to worry about it, period!

I had a little cheat last night - ate a piece of my Son In Laws Red Velvet Birthday Cake. Up a pound this morning to 106. That means the next few days will be mighty skimpy. My menu for today is: B - Boiled Eggs
L - Homemade chili - plain, no beans, etc.
D - Grilled HB, no bread, basic trimmings

Should be around 15 carbs and less than 1,000 calories.

Have a good day everyone.

Ann

Ann, I agree, it is a pain to monitor calories ... wish we didn't have to!!

Oh............I couldn't have passed up the red velvet cake either!! At least you stopped with one piece!!

Great job, Vickie, losing that water weight!!

Brenda, I do hope your ds gets invited to an officers home for easter. my dh wants us to have the military men over to our house for holidays, as we are in a military town and there are alot of people with no where to go. I think it is a good idea but we just never joined the program. We should. About 2 to 3 lbs extra sounds about right for me with this mucle also. I am 110 today but now some of it is water from pms. I agree, tone is nicer and my measurements are changing too...for the better!
Vickie your menu looks great! I agree with muscle i migt not hit 105 again. I am desiding whether to get to 105 and then workout again as then I would know exactlty what weight is what....

Also congrats to Ann and Vickie for getting below 110!

Good morning everyone! Looks like we will have heavy rain here today. I hope it stops long enough for me to get in my 3 mi jog/fast walk after work! I was down to 108 this morning. It looks like the all protein/fat days followed by adding carbs back may have shocked my body. My menu will be the same as yesterday except for dinner I will have grilled salmon filet, salad of romaine, tomato, green pepper, onion, 3 cheese ranch dressing. Need to get ready for work. I will check back later.

Great job, Vickie!!

We're having heavy rain this morning, but its hopefully gonna clear out later this afternoon so I am optimistic I can have a RAIN FREE run for a change today! Last Thursday I was in a driving rain for a couple of miles, then again on Monday, 3 miles in the rain ... While the rain keeps the sweat away, its tough when you can't see where you're going!! Anyway, I am hoping things clear up soon!! DD and I hope to head out for 7.5 miles after she gets home from school, about noon.

I am still not back to work full-time yet .. working half days Mon, Tues & Thurs. Seems to be quite enough for now, although the boss would love to have me there the usual 40 hours. After battling depression like I have been, I don't want to take on too much too soon. So for now, 13 1/2 hours a week is the limit. Will see how it goes in the weeks to come.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone! STAY ON TRACK!

Hi all,
Went to eat a place called bread bites last night. Not the place to go if you want to avoid bread. I ate well besided three bread bites. Ugh. Didn't eat after 7, went to bed hungrey. i am back down under 110. Tom just started so i will see if any more weight will fall off. Trying to be good before easter weekend.

Betty you look great in pink!

Vickie, way to go! When i was cycling on weekend I dropped to 105 and stayed that way for months..just crycling carbs! Maybe before summer i will try it again but I felt alittle crabby in the day and that is no way to feel being a sah/work from home mommy. I need to feel happy! I am hoping no eating after 7 and no carbs at night will get me where i want to be. I like trying it all, as long as i stay in range.

Where are you rachel?

Hi all,, It is raining cats and dogs here. I am gloomy from it. You go Betty, running in the rain, I am such a wimp since we got a treadmill 2 years ago,, now I just run on it when the weather is bad. The new pic is nice. Wow Vickie, I need to get my menu where yours is at. Janina, Iknow just what you mean about getting back on track,, I went out to lunch with a friend today and had 2 pieces of bread and fried calamari,, it was so good. I will get back on track tomorrow. I did lift weights this morning and yesterday ran 5.5 miles and did 4 miles the day before. Tomorrow I am going to go for 7-8 miles. My DH and I are trying to decide whether or not to run a 1/2 marathon in April and I have to see if I am up for it or not. I am glad to hear everyone else is doing ok. I am going to go and see what I am going to fix for dinner, something with chicken. see ya, Brenda

Thanks for the compliments, you guys! Sorry the pic is so small, but how do you get them any bigger? I try for bigger and it says YOUR AVATAR IS TOO BIG!!

Well today's run was RAIN FREE! Wassup with dat?? I could actually SEE through my glasses for a change!! Oh man, but the humidity was atrocious .. by the time I finished 7.5 miles, I had sweat off 2 pounds! GOtta love Florida, aye?

Brenda, great plan for running tomorrow! You will run off that bread, I have no doubt!!

Back to work for 1/2 day tomorrow .. Man, I'd much rather run!!

DD has talked me into another 10k again this weekend ... she is so into running now, I hate to discourage her! She said "Mom, you gotta run it cuz I need you to motivate me!" COOL BEANS!
That will give us about 30 miles for this week!!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Betty, you look great in the new avatar. The pink is really pretty. We had heavy rain most of the day. I had to get groceries after work and then I had Wed night Bible study so I didn't get my run/walk in today. I probably won't get it in either on Thurs because I have to take my car for inspection and oil change after work. I must try to get some exercise in early Thurs before I go to work.

Oh, that is so cool to have your DD runnign with you. My older son ran with me a few times when he was getting ready to go to USMC Boot camp,, but he did not so it much, He did it alot when he got there though, haha. My younger son wanted to try running so we got him shoes and he went with me about 5 times and never really got into it, he likes to lift weights instead. My DH does run, he was the one that got me started, I love doing races, they keep you motivated. How old is your DD?
Corgi, I hope get some excersise in today,, , i got to go and start running my self,, by all

hi everyone. Im really interested in the weight ranges you have all mentioned. I seem to be staying between 139-142. I really wanted to get to about 135 for the extra 5 pounds, but it seems the more I watch my calories the more problems I have at night. (overeating or really wanting to binge...or just binging like there is no tomorrow) I guess I never considered my body just might like being at the weight I am right now. Ive checked my bmi, and maybe im reading it wrong...but it has me on the high end of healthy. i was trying to get to a midpoint range. I am really happy about what size im wearing, and my weight tho. I think im over thinking it. lol.

i went to the link that sugarless for life posted and checked my ideal weight. it says im UNDERWEIGHT?????? now i am confused. im 5'8 and today im 139.8 and a medium frame.

my bmi on this site has me at the high end...but on the above line it has me at a healthy weight.

ok...i really am confused.

Girlie, check your BMR and your AMR on countcarbs.com to see how many calories you need a day. That's really helped me.

My BMR is something like 1140 calories, but when I factor in my running, I can eat like 2000 and not gain!!

Hi all,
What are everyones easter plans? i am so excited for my mom to come spend the weekend and Sunday the big brunch and easter hunt! i think we will color eggs today!

I am feeling like i have a very warped idea of my body these days. I went from 105 to 110 recently and added in excersise. i have been feeling really heavy..tom didn't help. I did get under 110 when tom came. Anyways I put on a pair of 25 jeans(0) that i can't wear over 110 and I hang over them at 110 and they fit perfectly, no over hang. maybe my body is respoding to the yoga and sometimes running...I must be gaining muscle and gaining a bit of weight.

Anyways feel alittle frustrated as all i think of is eating and plan. I feel that it isn't the normal way of life..is this what it will be like always. i feel to fixated on it? anyone else understand where i am coming from..

well take care..
are we starting a weekend thead or keeping one fro the week?

For me, it has to be a passion, lest I let down my guard and gain it all back....We've come so far ... isn't that worth keeping focused? It is for me!!

I'm not sure when passion becomes an obsession, but either way, I'm in this for THE LONG HAUL!! Call me passionate, call me obsessed, just call me a successful maintainer for 3 years, 2 months and 6 days!

That is awesome you are so passionate Betty...I guess I am just having one of these days...that I think we all do...maybe we don't!
Before I was pg and gained all my weight i was never over 115. Ever! And usually more like 105...this was without dieting and obsessing. My metabolism hasn't changed much, just my mind set. Honestly i don't like it.
I can have an obessive personality(ie obsessed with alcohol before I quit, obsessed with men before I got married, obsessed now with my family, anmd always obsesses with shoes and clothes)) I just carry it overboard. i am trying to find a healthy balance but am afraid i won't...

akm..it seems to me you are perfect weight! I think 135 is getting low for yuor height but 139 doesn't seem underweight to me. Charts can be confusing..so can scales as I have gained a bit since i started working out. TRY to go by your clothes and how you feel..easier said then done..lol!
