MVM's SAT. March 19

Hi all,
Gee just a few more days until SPRING!!! Gerard saw some robins so it's really, really going to happen.

We are going to run up to Watertown on Sunday to attend the wake of Meri's DH and may go to the funeral Monday.

Not much else going on around here but trying to finish that corned beef and cabbage. Forgot I can only eat so much of it. Right now I would kill for some King Crab Legs and a good rib eye steak.

Hi Linda,

For the leftover corn beef, it's very good diced and scrambled into your eggs. I ALSO love it diced and mixed with diced pre-cooked potatoes and pan fried into Corn Beef Hash with a poached egg on top, but I know you're potato-phobic so that won't work.

I've seen a couple robins and my first mockingbird, but they are dumb and always show up during the coldest day of February. Mockingbirds must have really bad calendars...God knows why they leave their Southern homes so early always baffled me. They don't sing til April though, I guess the females in February say, "Are YOU KIDDING; not in THIS cold!"

Today we do NADA, somebody coming over for some of my excess kefir grains and they are jarred and ready to go, a walk to the A&P and the gym...that's IT!

I found a VERY pretty video and CD cabinet in the hall last night: BLACK, like new, with nice brass trim and lockable doors, bigger than the one we have and I'd LIKE to keep both so I will try to ARRANGE STUFF to see if I can free up a few "extra" square feet...or else put one atop the other...or SOMETHING.

Loretta,
So sorry your husband's MD is getting the better of him...what is worst case, blind spot in the center? Any chance of retinal transplantation????
How's his mood?
http://www.maculardegeneration.org/large/bigagedex.html
for anyone who wants to read up on the disease...the site is in BIG PRINT, obviously an aid if someone has MD.

A nice weekend to all.

Good Saturday Morning Magnificient Ones!

Sunny with blue skies up here today! It is getting milder, next door returns from Florida today, so I have all their mail from the last 10 days for them.

YES, It is Spring tomorrow March 20th! YEAH!
It is still white everywhere up here, some pavement is clearing now.
The birds that you have seen must be ready for the dryer lint by now. Y'all empty the dryer lint today and place out for those birds!
Sounds like they need to make long underwear out of it. LOL!

Oliver is enjoying the milder weather. He will go on his walkies with me now, the stop and pull back has stopped. He is up a llb or so. He needs to run that off before his trip South.

Linda,
Thank you for your comments regarding those statins! Not sure how we will prove it. I will be attending DH's appointment on Monday.
Have a safe trip up to Watertown, so very sad to lose one's partner of many years. This BB sure is Support in more ways than one!

Roger,
Good fer you, recylin stuff Roger! Hope you can manage to find some space for it.
I would love to have a day of NADA today but need to run some errands unless I can get DH to go? ummmm!

Loretta,
Sorry to hear about your DH's MD. My girlfriends Mom has it, she still lives alone and uses several devices to read her mail etc. She manages very well still in her own home at 81 years young.
It is wonderful that he has his fishing as an interest and of course YOU to take care of him.
Glad you are having milder weather down there.

Waving to the rest of our gang and hope to be back later!
Have a great Saturday the last day of Winter!

Hi to all on this the Feast Day of St. Joseph, one of my favorites. 2 of my kids have Joseph for a middle name.

Roger thanks for that article on the MD. DH had that Photodynamic Therapy one time but it did not improve and only worsened the MD. He has the wet version in his left eye and the other eye has the dry type. He seems to be able to see well enough to tell me how to drive. All in all he does pretty well.

Linda that is very nice of you to go to Meri's husbands funeral. I know she will sure appreciate your presence. We finished up our corned beef. My oldest son was here with us and it was a small beef so it went. Glad for that, it was pretty good too.
Dh and I are going out tonight to catch up on that Prime Rib dinner. Our friends are going with us, so we will have a nice time.

Susun, it will be interesting to see if the neurologist has anything to say about the Crestor being responsible for the problem.
IS your DH able to drive? I am looking forward to spring to help get my "flower" spirits back up.

Shawnee I dug up my tulip bulbs because it looked like a critter was going to beat me anyway and the bulbs are rotten, just mush. Just wanted to pass that on to you. I do have a nice big pot now for some other stuff.

Gotta get busy and work on some things for the Birthday dinner tomorrow.

Later
Loretta

Hey gang,

DH let me sleep in this morning so I'm STILL in my jammies! Sure felt good! This weekend will be spent puttering around here making some soaps and researching my supplier options. Gotta get it in works!

Tomorrow we'll go to a chinese buffet for my b-day. Supposed to be 60's and sunny our first day of spring!

Better get my butt in gear

Hi Ginny and Loretta,

Ginny, glad you can have a 'sleep in' and relax on your days off.
I see you have another project on the boil too! I too always have several projects on the go...I have gotta slow down and stop all this juggling!
Enjoy the soap-making today...does that mean some "suds' tonight?
Have a wonderful Birthday tomorrow Ginny and enjoy the Chinese linner!

Loretta,
Yes, DH still drives and gets around really well. He is just a bit unsteady on his feet and soon gets tired on his legs.
That prime rib sounds delicious, mouth droolin o' keyboard right now. It is so great to kick back with some friends once in a while.
We are back to DD's this evening to 'order in' and celebrate DSIL's belated birthday! I think we are having Indian cuisine.
What will you plant in that empty pot now?
Thank you for the reminder about St. Joseph's feast day. The nuns that taught me in grade school used to say if we prayed to St. Joseph we would have a good husband...it seems to have worked for me!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Back again. Just did a lot of gagging lollies today and it was nice.
Geezzz, it got into the mid 50's here. Unbelievable!!

I do think we are in for some snow tonight. Oh well, it can't last MUCH longercan it?

Roger, I used to love corned beef hash and may be able to make a mock hash using cauliflower or rutabagas. Humm. Food for thought.

Susan, LOL maybe I'll put out some dryer lint. I'm just worried that the field mice will make use of it too. Shudder, I hate those critters.

Good luck with the statin pusher. They should KNOW what side effects there are to those meds. Does your DH get his liver enzymes checked monthly?

Ginny, Glad you got to sleep in today. You deserve it.

Hope you can find some reliable suppliers. Are there any others in your area doing the same thing that you could ask?

Enjoy that BD dinner. Chinese, eh? YUMMMMM

Loretta, Enjoy that prime rib dinner and the company of good friends.

Waving to Shawnee, Julie, Barb, Jackie.

Catch ya later.

Well Shawnee, Julie, and Jacki...

NORTHWEST GETS HEAVY RAIN...and more to come. Maybe you'll get salmon on the lawn.!

Bob and I took a long walk yestreday into Hoboken and I got my hint of the feastday: the few Italian bakeries left (Hoboken has gentrified to the max)
were featuring ST. JOSEPH'S ZEPPOLIS made oncve a year. I would have bought a dozen but not while tallying for 2,000 calories. REGUALR zeppolis must be calorific and for St. Joseph, probably through the roof...those carpenters burned lots of calories.
For those who don't know a zeppoli is a couple Tbsp blob of sweet batter deep fried til golden, drained and covered in powdered sugar. Sort of sweet hot glue! But oh so YUMMY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNY
Enjoy your day tomorrow.

Installing the CD cabinet led to an entire Spring cleanup and I am WHUPPED...I couldn't cook or even go out to eat so Bob draggged to the Mall and brought back TACO BELL Grande Soft Tacos...yummy but 450 calories each...But SOOO easy.
We tried to watch tonight's HBO special called SOMETIMES IN APRIL about the slaughter of Tutsis by the Hutu in Rwanda in 1994...it was so heartwrenchingly brutal we had to turn it off.
Yep, it can happen anywhere where group is incited against group!

G'night!
