Holy Chit, never got back last night. Meri called and shocked the hell out of me with the announcement of her DH's death yesterday morning. Poor girl. She was still so upbeat. God she is going to crash hard when it hits her.

Nephew is home for now but still in considerable pain. Seems I may have been drafted to drive him to the University when his dad is working. I don't really mind. He is really a good and very smart kid ( well except for his stupid stunt that got him in that halo and maybe a fusion)

Roger, Nicotine withdrawal is making me more of a ***** than usual. I'm just GRRRRR all of the time. No patience with anyone or anything.

You had me ROFLMAO with y our colorful posts yesterday. Thanks I needed that.

Good for you for standing up for peace and quiet and not having to smile through a dinner with strangers. It's a total PITA.

Susan, it's all of those darned forwards and attachments that you open and forward that are causing problems. STOP IT AND DON'T OPEN THEM. I quit and won't open any of them. It's not worth it.

Shawnee, YIKES you do a reformat? I'll just pay cause I haven't a clue as to how to do that DOS thingy half way through..

LMAO, poor Chuckster. Are ya really going to duct tape the poor thing? Are you selling tickets to that event?

Corned beef is great isn't it? Finally did mine with cabbage and didn't drive Gerard out of the house

Love that fudge recipe. Thanks. I'll try it tomorrow or the next day.

Loretta, what's with the low crit? Geezzz this getting old is the pitts.
Sorry you had such a bad BD. Are you going to get that prime rib this weekend?

Ginny, hope you can find a reliable supplier so your new business can take off. Geezzz. What a pain that must be.

Barb, Spending all of that time on the phone with DELL must have been extremely expensive. YIKES!
Hope all is well now.

Julie, LOL, it's difficult to keep up with ancestry sometimes. My Irish comes from my Mom's dad. He was born in County Cork but her mom was born in Germany of French and German parents.

Dad was Seminole and Welch/English. So just a MUTT here.

Good morning Linda, and all you skinny Maintainers.

Up before dawn (4:50 AM, after sleep at midnight...go figger) which is always my "diet" routine

I held onto the 4 pound WHOOSH with another perfect diet day; 1970 calories, with about 120 grams protein and and nearly an hour of hard aerobic exercise.
One of the things I missed most with my 18 months of religious Atkins was the ability, like last night, of having a BIG 1 pound Hungry Man Turkey Dinner with stuffing and potatoes and cranberry compote (and peas, turkey and gravy) from the microwave in 9 minutes. And then looking on the back of the box and noting 520 calories...so easy and cleanup is 4 steps to the trash with the box and tray and all I had was a knife, fork and glass from Diet soda into the dishwash.
Salt is always HORRIBLE but when I'm taking HCTZ (diuretic) it's pumped back out in a jif.

Today's plans: Make an appointment with a new dentist and ask if he will look at ONE tooth and give me an estimate...no X-ray and examination Bullspit. This will be his test. I've decided I don't like the guy who's been "doing me" for the last 25 years: he is just NOT good enough. Ugly mismatched caps and his LOVE of mercury amalgams. He's also much older than I so he'll be shutting down very soon and I'll need someone new anyway. The guy I'll call today is in THE NEXT BUILDING!
Hard iron workout at gym, a chicken curry with leftover roaster (else I;ll have to chuck out a large pile of breast meat, and then my 5 hour Sci-Fi Channel Friday marathon.
(Second Corn Beef tomorrow!)

Linda,
Who is Meri?

Shawnee,
Thanks for the 3 T. cornstarch tip, I'll go with that and let you know. I wish I could whip the three Democrats who voted to go along with this Alaska desecration...it's not even much oil after all is said, done and desecrated. Oh well, when they close the furnace door on my carcass and turn on the gas jets, the liveability of Planet Earth is somebody else's problem...I left no genes behind me to suffer on an ugly ruined carcass of a planet. If the KIDS are too stupid too fight, let them live on a sterile cinder that was once the jewel of the Solar System... I hope they kept pictures of what once was. (note to self: Rewatch the movie, SOYLENT GREEN (in spite of C. Heston!))

I know exactly what you mean Roger about not doing what you don't want to at this stage in life!! I used to be PC all the time, now I just say it as it is -- The world loves conformity!

Linda, how long before this "habit" is ??? I would imagine your nephew is sorry he ever did see "snow"!

I feel so sad about Meri's loss that it's difficult to think about any problem being important enough to even mention. Death does put things into perspective.

Waving to all......

Hi Barb,

OK I gathered Meri is on the GOLDEN board, I feel terrible for anyone losing a spouse. I don't think I'd survive it!

Shawnee...3 Tbsps seems about PERFECT. I panicked because it looked too thin as I poured it into the shell hot, but as it cooled it seemed to gel just right.
I just added 2 packs Splenda to a can of unsweetened crushed pineapple, 3 T. cornstarch, some ground cloves and cinnamon and boiled and poured into a graham cracker crust that's been laying around so long I think it was one of the originals made by Alexander Bell!
If I kept it any longer I KNEW I would bust it.
Calories for the whole pie: 1300 so it will be 4 servings at 325 each...not too bad with a lower calorie dinner.

Just not chatty today. Meri losing her DH has affected many of us. I had been communicating daily with her on her DH condition and it was a shock to say the least.

Maybe I'll come back later...

Hi Y'all

Time to look for some bright spots in our Lives.

Here's that Tulip bud I posed 9-10 days back.

A darlin' little plant Jacki gave me last year; Slugs find it attractive too (I just now put DeadLine under its leaves, it needs results immediately!)
Jacki, as usual...its name escapes me....Thinking "lung" or "toad" or "wort"- something.. HELP!

Waving at all.

Hello again, Just logged back on the computer and found over 60 e mails Most about sending flowers for Meri's DH's funeral.

Personally I'm against flowers. I want mine when I can enjoy them, not lying around a funeral parlor for a couple of days only to be thrown away or donated to a nursing home. Donations to a good charity would be much better.

Roger, I'm thinking of looking for another dentist too. Mine is good but he is always wanting to replace my old fillings, even if there is nothing wrong with them. Then he doesn't seem to pack that stuff in well like the old dentist did and they don't last as long.

LMAO hope there is enough gas to turn the both of us to ash. Wouldn't it be awful to be buried and take up valuable land? Humm, I suppose a Hefty Garbage bag would do in a pinch. I don't think land fills are going to go away very soon.

Barb, isn't it great to be able to say what ever one wants to say and to hell with everyone else? Here's to non conformity

Julie, it is just awful that she lost her DH but it's the natural course of things, unfortunately.

Oh Shawnee!!!! You made my day with the lovely pictures. Just look at that Yellow tulip!! What is the name of the plant that Jackie gave you? It's lovely.

Good Evening to all

Just a busy day here with kids and Dh. In the car a lot today.
Had breakfast with 2 of my eldest sons and Leah. That was nice. Dh had an eye doc appointment this afternoon. Seems like is MD has worsened and we will follow up with retinal specialist, but I am of the opinoin that not much can be done at this stage. We have already tried a laser eye dye tx without success. Dh does not like it that I drink and drive

Shawnee thanks for the tulip pic and the Lungwort flowers. Love to see that growth and greenery. That sure brightens up my day.

I agree with you all about being able to say NO to things and situations that you don't won't to be in. I believe in saying what is on my mind also. Sometimes you get surprised that others were thinking the same thoughts but were afraid to speak out.

Julie YOU are not chatty today? I was thinking to day about Meri's husband and maybe it was for the best before he went through all of that tx for the cancer without much hope. The way she described his death sounds like a death I might choose. He just slept away and did not suffer.

Roger hope you find a good dentist. I have been refusing those xrays that they keep wanting to take. I can't remember one thing that proved useful with them. When I come in with a toothache they always want to get an xray then. I do like my dentist though and have confidence in his work.

Pooped out and about ready for my book and bed.

OMG how very sad for Meri. Was his death expected? It sure does bring us back to reality, as Barb says.

Puter seems all fixed and running fine again.

It is DSIL's birthday today. They have gone out for the evening with some of their friends to celebrate. DH and I will celebrate with him tomorrow evening.

DH's appointment with the Neurologist is on Monday. I sure hope he has some answers for DH. He is losing his spirit wondering what all this could be. I still suspect the statins. His doc still left him on Crestor with all these neurological symptoms. Or, it could be trapped spinal cord or nerves in his spine, who knows?

Shawnee,
What a breath of fresh air, to see those budding plants and the splash of colour! It sure did the trick to lift our spirits. Thanks again for that eye candy!

Roger,
Funny you should mention the dentist...I just went this morning for 1.5 hour drilling. I hope she got all the mercury-amalgam out of that tooth all filed down in readiness for a crown in two weeks. I have several crowns now, so I am managing to get the amalgam out one by one.
The dentist says the daily mercury absorption is similar to the daily intake of fish, problem is I dont eat fish daily, thank goodness! What with PCBs, Mercury and the like. I do love fish though, just not daily.
Good Luck with your search for a "new and improved" dentist!

Jacki,
Sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure your DMIL will be at peace now.

The leaves on that lungwort are so pretty too!

Julie,
I understand how you are feeling come back when you are ready.

Where are Loretta, Ginny and All?

I am just about to get Ella off to bed.

Loretta, I'm with you on the easy and comfortable death of Meri's husband. What a wonderful way to go.

I'm so very sorry that your DH's MD is not responding to any treatment. Best of luck with the retinal specialist and please keep us posted.

Susan, I would suspect the statins too and hope the doctor takes your husband off them.

Those meds well never mind. I'm too tired to rant and post all of the studies negating the results as well as the cover ups by the drug companies.
