MVM Wednesday

Hi gang,

Just to get the thread rolling.

Second day in a row something NEW...newly filled upstairs apartment tenant has taken to blasting god-awful Hip-Hop music at EXACTLY 6:10 AM. A couple more days of this and I turn into a cranky old harridan banginging on his/her/it's door with a long crooked stick (and a raven on my sleepy shoulders.)
Some people were raised in barns.

Diet continues, weight drop doesn't (that Indian buffet was salty) but it will catch up. Today I;ll find some fresh fish for dinner because that's always a low-cal contribution to the day.

Later.

Oh Loretta,
Yes, Bob is on a statin for about 3 years. He takes Zocor (simvastatin 30 mg. a day), I've taken Lipitor for 7 years (atorvastatin 10mg. a day.)
He probably doesn't need them much because EVERYONE in his family gets cancer...and I mean EVERYONE (parents, sibling, cousins, second cousins, grandparents) but nobody gets heart disease. My family gets almost no cancer, but gets heart disease, diabetes, alcoholism!

Anyhoo, he has stockpiled lots of half-pills and it's a good thing because Bush has slashed Veterans benefits and Bob's cheap ($7 a month) simvastatin from the VA may be no more, in spite of his having fought in a war (unlike ANYONE in the administration.) At $3 a pill it's just too expensive to buy at full U.S. price unless he ABSOLUTELY needs them.

For me, a statin may be life or death though but I have OTHER sources! My last total cholesterol reading was 140 with my LDL at 82 (sublime)...HDL 37 (Bah)...Triglycerides 107 (pretty good.) That was a long non-drinking period, thius the low HDL.

Oh my Roger, what the hell is the matter with people? Don't they realize or are they just plain nuts? I'd be up there to day screaming at them. Hmmm maybe I'd wait till about 11:00 and open fire.

First Mariner's game on TV today so you know where I'll be. Plan on usual get up and move during each commercial. 9 innings, 2 breaks for each inning. 2 minutes apart. A couple for potty breaks, should get at least 30 minutes of walking around! Hey, it's better than just sitting and tuning into a couch potato!!!

Linda, hope your nephew is doing ok. Thats too bad about the halo but maybe he'll learn a lesson from this. I remember being a crazy teen myself!!!

Did you get rid of the ants???

Barb, hope you had a nice birthday!

Shawnee and Jacki, no rain here, how about you?

SuSun, missed you yesterday.

Have a good day gang!

Good morning everybody. I could have sworn I posted a thread starter before I went to bed last night

Anyhoo. I"m up and ready to hit the road and pick up some real food for my nephew and pay him a visit at the hospital.

Roger, You were very fortunate to have lucked out on the trip to DMV. Bet you are so glad you decided to go back after that "salty" linner. So what information does your digital NJ drivers license contain? NYS hasn't gone to them yet.

Jezzzz I would go up there and complain AFTER I called the management.. How very thoughtless and rude of those neighbors.

Julie, No my wait on the phone wasn't 20 minutes. I waited 20 minutes past the scheduled time for the phone to ring. The guy was very apologetic but very busy. I guess they are short staffed too.

Nope the ants are still here. It takes some time for the stuff to work. Went through a box of tissues and got a bunch of them though

Enjoy the game and your stint as a couch potato

Jackie, We are looking forward to seeing pictures of your paint job. Bet that porch looks great!

Shawnee, How appalling that your health insurance got their information about you so screwed up.
LOL paranoid me would want to know if some doctor wasn't committing insurance fraud and sending in false claims . Just a thought.

Enjoy your lunch with Kaci. So the General is growing like a little weed eh? What does the Chuckster think of him?

Waving to the rest of the gang.

Hi again,
Yes Linda, that DMV was a once-a decade luckout...sheesh, I'll have to go back when I buy a car as soon as Bob gets disabled parking sticker!

Continuing the aging process, I downloaded and filled out my application fo NJ Transit Reduced Fare card (off peak hours for 62-65)...needed to go to bank and get an officer to verify my age paperwork and sign. At least I only had to mail the application.ALL DONE!
And then I stuck all my (our) valuable paperwork in the bank vault while I was there.

Oh yeah, I bought 400 shares of GM (29 1/4) this morning on the bad earnings report...the DIVIDEND is over 6% and I need to generate an income flow that is better than CD's.
So we're BACK IN THE MARKET AGAIN (paraphrase Roy Rogers)...I guess that means the market will CRASH again .

Oh, if anyone wants to download some BEAUTIFUL wallpaper (background) of gorgeous celestial stes, the Hubble Telescope is only too happy to comply. Have a look:
http://hubblesite.org/gallery/wallpaper/

And Double Oh...I fell for the hype on those BODY FAT SCALES and bought a Homemedics model... complicated operation. From what I know about electricity (engineer) and biophysics I KNOW it's gotta be junk but I'll try it a while and return it if it's just a silly gimmick...like I KNOW it is! For weight, my old one is just fine.

Hi Julie,
Enjoy the game; that's Bocce Ball I presume?

Off to gym!

THANKS for the birthday wishes, greetings !!

No cake, no ice cream, no sugar, nothing white!! And, it's not even ALL SAINTS DAY! However, I won't be recognized as canonical because of the intake of vodka martini's.

I am going to run a 5K (if it kills me). I suppose I better have the feet meet the pavement -- only 15 more weeks!!

Julie, you have put a new meaning into "7th inning stretch"!!

Zip, we got into the market a few years back and now I could retire on my Harley stock! My sister also works for Abbott Lab. in Chicago and she's always tell me when they were spilting -- oh no, inside information, I'm going to jail and will lose 20 # and write a book and make more money.

Have to run, be back later Barb

Roger, wonderful photo's!

Hi Barb, wish I could come walk, not run that 5K. I've done it before and can do it again. I even have walked a 10K!! No running for this knee, I want to be able to walk when I'm 63!

Everybody getting sick of me today???????

I didn't actually Praise, but I did say THANKS! (Geez, I had almost forgotten where the windshield wiper switch was located!)
Maybe this is NW Winter at last. Lovin' every drop!

Lunch at 11, at our fav Deli known for their gorgeous breads. AAARRRRGGGHH ! (they are so proud they are now mainstream, and have LC bread)...SOY in it? Yes, they report smugly! (are they in the know or what?)

So Kaci and I both passed on the breads and chips, induged in great salads. (and ice water) Mine was smothered in cheeses, olives, tomatoes, ham, turkey, etc...I ordered a HALF size, and could only do about 1/3 of it.

Julie, does Bo ever hop on the treadmill with you? ShawnPup always tried to grab my lil barbells, and thought if I was on the floor, it must signal "dogpile-tackle" time. Can ya tell I miss her?
Good for you, getting in that exercise. thru the Game.

Then off to two fun stores...we recently got a Ross for Less; stocked with name-brand overruns, cheap!
Anyhoo, I only came home with 3 paperbacks...my closet is so stuffed, I have to be picky!

Montana, how's the Nephew? What's this about the Halo, did I miss something? Hope his meds are ok now.
LOL on the possible ins. fraud...with all the Facts/figures crammed into my reply letter re my previous BG tests, WOE, (even my weight!)...let them figure it out.

Gotta run for now.

Awww Shawnee, yes you do miss ShawnPup!! Too bad you can't find it in you to find another pup to love you. There are so many out there that would love your loving heart.

No, Bo doesn't try to hope on the treadmill but when he see's my shoes going on, he about goes nuts. I feel bad when I'm not heading out the door with him on his leash.

Roger, so what kind of car are you going to get? Honda, Subaru and Toyota are excellent and very mechanically reliable. AND if you buy a new car, the dealer will do the leg work at DMV for ya.

Check out Simmonds-Rockwell in Pa. They have the best prices.

How is Bob going to get that handicapped sticker? He is in pretty good shape.

I just let my mutual funds ride it out and they are doing just fine now.

Cool backgrounds. Thanks.

God Julie, you guys are finally getting rain?? I sincerely hope you get buckets and buckets of it.

Barb, You are going to do just fine in the 5K race. WE want pictures.

Vodka martini's YUMMMMM!

Insider trading, eh?

Shawnee, I know you still miss Shawnee pup terribly.
I guess we never really get over it.

You are one strong woman!! How the heck could you resist the smell of wonderful breads in that place. I wouldn't even dare go in such a place.

Nephew is still in considerable pain from the muscle and ligament tears but the screws of the halo don't bother him too much. He may come home tomorrow if the pain is under control
Halo will be on for three months and then they will decide if he needs a fusion of C1 and C2.

Loretta, on the

Hope all is well with ya.

Off to finish the chicken casserole and put the corned beef in the crock pot.

Hi again Y'all

...where was I previously..oh, yeah...

Montana, that G.Tso Pup is an absolute treasure, pick him up and he snuggles that lil head right into my neck. Bliss!

LOL, Julie...its not me against another Pup...its the Chuckster. When Kaci brought the 3-4 lb. GeneralPup without Burke, he still left in a huff, and refused to come in until he knew that Pup was long gone. I have to respect his right to rule the roost in his very advanced Golden years. He's certainly not afraid of any dog, he simply resents their existance.
Oh, Yeah...I sure remember reaching for my shoes (or purse), and Pup running to get her leash.

Where's our Goddess hiding out?

Barb, However, I won't be recognized as canonical because of the intake of vodka martini's.
Glad you enjoyed your Birthday to the hilt.

Zip, don't be making me nervous with creating stock market fluxuations
Nanner, nanner, nanner...my Screensaver is better than yours !
I have mine set as MY PICTURES, randomly displayed on Slideshow...
...strangely, a lot of them are the Chuckster, Pups, Mountains, and Posies. Hhhmmm, maybe I should broaden my Subject matter.
Its true, our Vets get the short end of the stick, time and time again.

Loretta, I finally made a Goodie...but sorry, its chocolate fudge. I overhauled that recipe for Peanut Butter fudge I gave you. I had to give up peanut butter/peanuts...another NONO for HypoTs like me. WOW, did it ever set up thick, that Whey is like adding cement mix. Haven't gotten into it yet...my first Fudge since Christmas, gotta pace myself

Shawnee

EDIT: MONTANA, that's gonna be a looooong 3 months for your nephew...
All the while I was in the Deli, I was thinking about MAKING BREAD...but then I got sidetracked at home, and made Fudge instead.

Update on rain....we got a big 0.17 inches of the wet stuff. Sun came out in the afternoon. They did get snow in the Mountains though. Hopefully it cleaned the air of all that pollen! Won't complain on the teensy bit we got, better than none.

So Linda, no buckets of it!!

So what is up with Loretta?

Where is SuSun the last 2 days???

WOW!! Looks like some GREAT people have birthdays in March!

Loretta!!

Hope you are enjoying being one year older! v Please, I know the feeling!

But, I have the mind and feelings of a 20 year old!! I'm sure you will join me on that one!

Linda, I make the end of a 5K - I WILL supply pictures!!

Rain, rain, go away and come again another day! Shawnee is expecting thee, snow, sleet, or any other way, except with a fee! You KNOW we will have to pay for that water this summer.

Weight is NOT good -- keep going up and up.....I wonder if I should cut down on those VM's? Actually, I'm suspecting a thyroid problem. Had blood work done last Friday and will know results in 10 days. TSH was 2.7 at last work-up.

I always like to blame my problems on SOMETHING !!

Waving to everyone........Barb

Shawnee, aww. I just love pup snuggles. You are so fortunate but poor Chuckster's nose is bent out of shape. After all, it's his home and he resents the invasion of other critters. Poor ol baby

FUDGE???? Recipe PLEASE!!

Yeah, Jesse the nephew is in for a rough time.

Loretta, darn ya. and Why didn't you say something?

Aww Julie, sorry you didn't get buckets of rain but there is still hope. Spring is usually WET. Hopefully you N.Western people will get some relief.

Barb, hope the thyroid behaves. Geezzz. What's with all of you having problems with it? Please keep us posted.

Yeah we do want and expect pictures.

Gotta get this tired ol butt to bed.
