MVM the 15th ( ides of March)
Shudder, there are ANTS, big black ones, invading our house. I killed 7 of the critters walking across the great room floor, several in the kitchen and 5 in the upstairs bathroom.
.YIKES!!!! Does this mean spring is almost here? Unfortunately there is too much snow still out there for us to put the ant powder down. This is not going to be fun. Any ideas gang? Tomorrow is my SS sign up day YIPPIE!!! Will do it on the phone. Then get to the grocery store to pick up some shrimp. Price Chopper has it on sale for $4.99 lb. Scampi and salad for dinner sounds great! See y'all later. |

Good morning, Linda Shawnee, et al.
Linda, LINDA FACING DOWN ONE OF THE BIG CRITTERS (I LOVE your retro-hairdo honey, ![]() ![]() I thought you were filing SS in person? So you're going to mail in your birth certificate; I hope they don't lose it. Bob and I are heading to the dreaded Motor Vehicle to join 300 people in line so I can try again for my new "digital" license...this is the WORST way anyone in Jersey City can spend a day. Loretta, Bob got his lab results back yesterday and it showed a good HDL of 59 out of a 172 total cholesterol, so I'm going to the psyllium a run for it's money (today is 3rd day. ) My last cholesterol done last October showed an HDL of 37, not good enough, but my total was only 140. Coffee calls!

Morning,
This is a change, we woke to a cloudy day! Now I remember why I love the sun so much!! On top of that, I woke with a sore throat. Damn, double damn!Linda, so you're going to do the SS thing over the phone huh? Let us know how long the wait was? Still think making an appt. and going directly to the office might be easier but will make my final decision after I hear your experience. Course I have until the 8th of May. Hope you take Shawnee's idea for getting rid of those pesky ants. Good luck. Roger, I have tried the low calorie thing and dang, if I didn't starve. Not for me anymore. Course being so short, I needed to cut my calories down to 1200. Now thats just not very much food. Whatever works to get the weight down...LC is still the easiest and your NOT hungry. BARB, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!! Have a super day! Hi to Jacki, SuSun, Shawnee and Loretta!! Off to bowling and a hair cut this afternoon.

Hi to all
My condolances to you and DH Jackie. You and your familiy are in my prayers. Linda you can also use a commercial product called Toro for the ants. I have lots of dead crickets in my bedroom. Part of our house is sunken in the ground and I think that is why we get them. I also have lots of lady bugs, dead and alive. I applied for my SS by phone interview and it was great for me not to have to go the office. No problem with the mail and return mail of my birth certificate. Be sure you give them the correct bank routing numbers. I might have messed up there. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!!!! MANY, MANY MORE Hope you have a great day today and all things go well for you. You are the lead off Birthday person for the month of March. More will follow. Zip the doc keeps wanting to put my DH on statins because he has had a stent. Even though his tc numbers have always been low, under 200. I think you will need to be taking that psyllium for a while before you see good results. Is Bob on a statin too? Guess statins are like cell phones now a days everybody seems to have one. What is a digital drivers license? Shawnee I have tried that borax and sugar also. Never was quite sure about the "recipe" for it. You know I need to follow a plan. Still have the borax on the shelf. Have you tried any new recipes lately? I like my mock mashed cauliflower made with the mayo now instead of the cream cheese. There was a recipe on the mayo jar that I tried out. My DH really likes the Mock Potato salad with the cauliflower. I am having to make extra of it. Julie I sure miss the sun too. We have chances of rain for the rest of our week here. I know spring is not here yet but this winter seems exceptionally long for me this year. Will we all be on SS this year except for Ginny, Jackie and Barb? Those younsters better hang in here with us. Laundry day and I sure would like to get out in the yard to do some raking. Guess I'll bundle up and go for it. Take care and enjoy!!!! Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 03-15-2005 at 10:53 AM. |

Back again. SS call was about 20 minutes late but it took only a few minutes to do. The guy was so very nice and helpful. He will send an envelope to send my birth certificate, void check and copy of my 2004 SE tax form. He told me I will get my first check deposited on the 4th Wed. of Aug. YIPPIE
Still waiting on news about my nephew. He got very sick to his stomach this morning, they said from some med, so they gave him another med to control the vomiting I hate those F**ucking meds!!!! Anyway he slept the rest of the day .The x ray was done but the G**Damned neuro hasn't even talked to him or his parents yet. Christ!!!Shawnee, we have Borax but not sugar. Gotta run to the store later and will try it. Would it work if we put it in a dish inside or should I put it around outside? Still tons of snow out there though. LMAO Roger, is that a scene from 'THEM'? I loved that movie when I was a kid. So you like my new hairdo ![]() No I wasn't planning on doing the SS in person. Our place sounds much like your DMV. Crowded with people hanging off the walls. Not a fun experience. So did you make out OK at the NJ DMV? BARB!!!! What did you do to celebrate? Hope it was fun!!Julie, Glad you are clouding up out there. You dearly need the rain. Bummer on the sore throat. Why the hell do you keep getting these darn bugs? GEEZZZ! Unless your SS office has plenty of parking available, do it over the phone. It was sooooo easy. Just a short wait. No problem. And I am not worried about the birth certificate. I do have two copies of the original. The thought of looking for a parking place and then going through security check in our Federal Bldg. turned me off of doing it in person. Loretta, Those darned lady bugs drive us nuts!! How they get in this tight house is beyond me. Guess they find any little crack to crawl through, even the air conditioner vents. shudder....Did you know that they aren't really lady bugs but a Japanese bug introduced here many years ago to take care of the Gypsy moth larva? We have some commercial ant powder that we usually use around the perimeter of the house every April to take care of the ant problem, but there is far too much snow there to use it. |

Hello Everyone. Thank you much for all the condolences. They mean a lot. Thursday is her service then a pot luck up at my sil's.
Saturday we got our house painted....and most of the trim done. Sunday afternoon we finished the main trim and now we are working on the front porch. Three new colonial style porch posts and some new colonial style railing. It's only a 4x8 little porch but it will look so cute with the new posts and rail. After we are all done I'll post before and after photos. Happy Birthday Barb ![]() Good luck on your SSI day Linda. and good luck on the ants. Julie, I hope your keep feeling better. We do need rain in these parts dont we...it'd be really sad to have to start hauling the water hose out in march. Well, I'd best get off here and put some laundry in the wash. Have a good evening everyone. ![]() |

Hi Y'all
Gonna do the Happy Dance tomorrow if it rains! Supposed to just be a few droplets (if any)...but they will be most welcome.Worked in the yard today, butt muscles are sore...as is the rest of me. Even the wheelbarrow is tired. (gotta paint some Racing Stripes on it to perk it up) The Ant Fix: I'm thinking it was equal portions of sugar and Borax (been a few years) ![]() Do remember I used a funnel to get the mix into plastic soda bottles, laid them on their sides directly where I noticed ant trails. Like the "enclosed" idea for the sake of any critters ya don't want sampling this stuff. Glad it was a smooth process re SS for ya, Montana. Sorry to hear your Nephew is having med problems...damn, they scare me. Yesterday I rec'd a letter from my Health Ins. They informed me I am DIABETIC and they will send Literature for their new Program for me to better care for my condition, blah, blah. (Apparently they also [checked their website] have 4 other Programs for other serious conditions)...well, I wrote back that their Info is FAULTY, where did this Dx come from.(?)..Grrr...but if they should develop a Program for Thyroid Patients to sign me up! I admit I really elaborated on Thyroid care/lack of..... ![]() Dammit, Loretta ...NO, I have to wait, I turned 60 in Jan. Never dreamed I'd want to age faster...![]() Haven't been trying any new recipes, or doing any baking. Can ya believe it?! ![]() Sometimes I really want a Goodie, but the "want" goes away before I get the ingredients out. I better make some soon, in case I get the "want" really bad. Lunch tomorrow with Kaci, looking forward to that. Her new Pup, the General, now is almost 1/2 as big as the Chuckster...but will never catch up. General will probably top out at 8 lbs. Ginny, I was thinking about ALL those Pup toenails you gotta inspect and trim... Could have used your sharpening skills today, I was playing "Logger & Surgeon" on my overgrown yard. We are still having light freezing at night, hope yours is warming up. Aw, Julie...hope you are feeling better! Did ya try Loretta's old fashioned cure...salt gargle? Mom swore by it. Zip, the Tulip is definitely gonna be Yellow! One pound DOWN, that's the right direction. Jacki, to you and Roy. Your hard work on house is paying off! Barb, Hope it was SPECTACULAR ! Shawnee |

Happy Birthday Barb
OK, the DMV...usually 120 people. So I was there 2 weeks ago and my Passport was "cancelled" instead of the acceptable "expired," and of course my Birth Certificate was defective. Ok, got all the ducks in a row and we went up there about 10:30 inured to the thought of spending the whole day (good book, etc.) The place was nearly deserted with a few clerks walking around with coffee and 3 people in the 1/2 acre waiting room. First thought was it's a holiday??? (St. Motor's feastday?) Nope, COMPUTERS ARE DOWN...we;re expecting someone to drive up from Trenton (90 minute drive) to fix them. Since I'd had a valium before leaving the house, I just LAUGHED at the total absurdity of it all. So we went to a couple junk sotores in the Journal Square area and just before we decided to PATH back home I said, let's go back and sit for an hour- miracles happen! Well, we walked in and I heard one clerk tell another "they just started UP"...yep the computers came on at 11! I was out of there with my 4 year digital driver's license with TWO pictures on it and all kinds of encoded data (God knows what) within a half hour. We strolled to INDIANTOWN and had a GREAT all-you-can-eat buffet Linner...$8.95 (about 20 dishes and a pretty place called RASOI'S.) OK Now the DENTIST! Linda, Congrats on the SS...your check will be exactly 3 months behind mine. Yep, it's from THEM and the back of the head is the lovely Joan Weldon who went on to great....oblivion! ![]() Jacki, Sorry about your loss. Julie, Glad you missed that cold...<knock wood> G'nite mates (Held calories to 1975 in spite of the huge lunch) Last edited by zip2play : 03-15-2005 at 08:05 PM. |
