Friday, March 11 for the MVM's

Hi everyone, it's FRIDAY and snowing yet again here in Upstate NY This MUST stop soon.

Anyhoo, I'm getting us started before I hit the sack again. God, is anyone else a huge night owl?

Shawnee, I can't blame you for not wanting to cut down those trees. The foliage is one of the reasons people want to live in the NW. What about that fence though? Maybe you want to replace that and clear the ground brush and cover. Trees should be OK.

OK, I agree with Jackie. you have inspired us to all name our mowers, plows and vehicles. Hummm, must give that about as much thought as I did when naming my kids.

Jackie, LMAO a virginal sacrifice to the volcano?? Humm maybe in 1960 I would have volunteered.

Barb., Puff, puff, pass at a later age????

Waving to the rest of our skinny, maintaining gang.

From one night owl to another Linda!

Shwanee, I know what you mean about the trees. I was being paranoid and just repeating what one of the TV stations said. That is what we love about the Pacific Northwest...the green and trees! Gad, they are even telling us not to flush the toilets too often.... Shorter showers make sense though. Just need to convince Nick of that!

Hayfever is awful tonight. Eye's are about to be ripped out. Broke down and took an antihistamine They cause the RLS to kick in so I'll be up all night walking, walking, walking.....Off to go read while I can still sit. I can walk and read though.

Hi NightOwls

What does Bob love about our fences and trees? He saves flushing by peeing behind them.

Once I told him I wanted some of his whiskey to put on the rosebushes, using one of those Jerry Baker formulas.
" WASTE GOOD WHISKEY? I'll drink it first, then you aim me at the bushes!"

OH, just had a flashback bout Loretta peeing in the bushes, and the Poison Ivy.

Hope you get some relief soon, Julie! Walk and read? That's TALENT!

Heard a statement about us being an "overfed, undernourished Nation."
.........hmmmm, those overfed, undernourished folk are the ones who say "Supersize me!"...and also say " That lowcarb crap's gonna kill ya!"

Bedtime for this NightOwl...unless there's a Crime show on.

Good morning Linda, Shawnee, Julie and everyone.

Corn beef and cabbage was really delicious. I think we'll do it again next week. The potatoes were the biggest hit...so creamy they don't even need butter! (Yes, Loretta, I've been eating potatoes since I abandoned Atkins...I think they are a WONDERFUL veg.)
I have a small piece of beef left I think I might chop and scramble some with my eggs.

Julie,
What's RLS? (Really Large Snack?)

I hope to get to the Pacific, Northwest before I croak, or before they denude the place.
Farthest North I got was San Fancisco. We went through Montana and turned South so I never saw OR, WA, or ID (although we might have just clipped a teeny end of ID.) THe other states in the "lower 48" I've never been in are MS, AL, TX, LA, AR....and ME I think.

Today is last day with the wine < WHINE>...DRY tomorrow though Memorial Day (or longer.)

Linda,
I guess all is well because I haven't read about any berserk shooting sprees by a madwoman in the Bingampton area.:: Keep up the good work and suck your thumb when you get the urge...STAY OUT OF THE FRIDGE!

The Chana Dal are VERY good, trouble is they are roasted and spiced with LOTS of chili powder and thus hit with a Calcutta Clout...I love it but they are too hot for Bob. They taste distinctive but are MOST like roast soybeans but better, more nutty and less oily. Next trip up (for the MV next week and my digital photo license renewal...I think with DNA and iris scan and whatnot ), I'll pick up some plain raw chana dal and cook it up as a vegetable. I spotted an Indian lunch buffet for $8.95 in a nice looking restaurant next to the grocery so Bob will hold my hand at the MV and we'll lunch afterward.

He's working, I'm doing a heavy iron today day and we're doing theater with friends tomorrow afternooon to see something called SHOCKHEADED PETER, a play from London that everyone is RAVING about.

A wonderful weekend to all my friends out there in skinnyland...I'll be there soon with you, AGAIN!

Weather has turned AWFUL this morning...mixed slop falling from the sky...looks like first layer froze to the cars on the street!

Good Morning Magnificient Ones!

DD's DH returns tonight, so I guess I can pack up and return back to my DH and get back to some kind of normalcy!

The pork rib roast turned out wonderfully tender. I put a few things that DD had on hand in the slow cooker and let it go for 5 hours. We eat dinner late after we put Ella down, then we can relax and talk undisturbed. I served it with a mixed stir fry veg and we had a small glass of red wine with it.

Yes, the lil' one will soon be running around. I would like DD to buy her a harness with reins, not sure if they are politically correct these days. I found them very useful in the U.K. when shopping on those busy streets around traffic. I did have two little ones together so they kept me sane knowing they were attached to me when we were out.

Shawnee,
My DFather used to save his "whisky" for his tomatoes in the greenhouse sometimes.

I think I hear some movement upstairs better go see the lil' one she is always smiling and ready for Fun!

Susun, The pork roast sounds grest, I have yet another defrosted boneless piece waiting to get going...maybe Sunday.

OK...here's the PC rule: It's perfectly OK to harness a child UNLESS the harnessed child is used to pull grandmother in carts through the Mall, then people frown!

Shawnee,
I guess I should start watering out the window...some of the plants 60 feet down don't look so good. Gee, if it's cold enough I wonder if it would land as yellow sleet?

Dear Godless world,
I was planning a quiet last day with the wine and a good book after my workout. I FORGOT they warned of 2 days jackhammering as they expand the gym. Well, the cacophony radiating through the poured concrete building is UNBELIEVABLE...and I CAN'T go to the gym, where the noise originates. I tried to talk to our DOORMAN and neither of us could hear what the other was saying...the gym must be headcrackingly loud.

Gosh, so I walk...carrying several FLASKS perhaps? Or my old leather SKIN/slingy from my skiing days...I had the giant economy size...had to be two liters for the LOOOONNNNG runs! Never broke...and I fell A LOT! I MUST have tossed it out?

Wow, it's been so LONG since I've gone to a BAR, and the way I drink, when I drink, I could spend my SS check on three trips!

Hey kids,
Anybody here using Windows XP Service Pack-2?

Morning,

Zip, yes, I'm using SP2. No problems here. RLS is Restless Leg Syndrome. Legs feel like there's some worms in there crawly around. Only thing that relieves it is walking. I take a med for it and it works most of the time. Unfortunately some other meds make it kick in big time, like antihistamines, antidepressants, nausea meds etc. So I have to be careful. I didn't get it bad last night so was only up until 3:00. Then it settled down and I was able to sleep.
Watch the walking and drinking at the same time unless you're good at doing 2 things at once...

SuSun, you sure seem to enjoy your family. Isn't that nice you can be so close to them. Not many families have that option anymore with distance being the major problem. Always wished for a close relationship to my DD.

Shawnee, walk and read comes from many, many hours of walking at night. I've worn the carpet out and since I have a groove, I don't fall.
never heard about whiskey working in the garden. Beer yes! Jerry Baker is fun to read and lots of good idea's. "Overfed, undernourished Nation" is quite a statement. So true unfortunately. Isn't it sad?

Got the morning to myself..Chuck has gone to Tacoma shopping for whatever at Harbor Freight. (tools) Nick just left for work. Yahoo!!!! So I think I'll stay in my jammies til noon!!!

Title: UNBELIEVABLE,,, but true

Anyone wanting another addition to their compost pile can simply take regular dryer screen LINT and throw it into the heap.

Hi Y'all

Another great weather day in the making. Too weird the NE is so wet/cold while the NW is dry and breaking Hi temps...we were officially 74° here yesterday.

Zip, urea is a great fertilizer. However, I think Phonecia would uproot and run if ya aimed at her

SuSUN, Bob says your Dad was a very wise man! Recycling....
Wouldn't it be great to have a PotLuck, with your porkrib roast and Zip's corned beef?
I so approve of the harnesses/ leashes on kids....they can disappear in a heartbeat, especially if a Mom gets distracted while shopping. One of my pet peeves is seeing kids sitting/evenstanding up!..in a shopping cart while the Mom is too far away and not paying attention.

Have y'all noticed how many women also leave their purses in their carts, while they are perusing merchandise?

Julie, at 10:30 I am still jammied-up...I do housework in them. Don't have to impress those Dust Bunnies and cobwebs with proper clothing. Enjoy your peace and quiet.
I've been using SP2 for about 6 mo. now.

My project for today, besides the usual have/to's...is rebuilding the rocks/stones behind the lil pond...seems the coons had knocked some into the pond...I could cement them, but I like the natural look. After I get that done, and the new pump going...I'll need a new supply of Dime Goldfish. In a few months they will be 6" long, and that's when the coons go fishin'...Circle of Life.

Hey to all not here yet.

See ya later on.

Shawnee

EDITED:

Julie, thanks for the reminder re the Dryer lint...I put it out in Spring for the birds to collect.
Another good compost filler is shredded paper.

Of course Julie, Restless Leg Syndrome...now I remember. So you finally got SP2 in and working fine...congratulations!

Shawnee...If I aim STRAIGHT at Phonecia she WINKS at me if she's feeling "amicable"!
It is AMAZING how quickly carp fill the size of any enclosure...evolution is WONDERFUL. The Brooklyn Botannical Gardens has a huge Japanes pond (a couple acre lake really) surrounded by pagodae, lotus, hibiscus, zen stone settings, little "stone gods" and all that good stuff and a BEVY of 2-3 foot long "goldfish" that actually beg for food as you walk round..bet some are 50 years old!
No racoons though!

If you do it RIGHT you can even mulch Newspapers (some are more compostable than others being full of schitt to start with) but you have to do something to neutralize the ink first...colored paper remains poisonous. (I read that somewhere.)

Shawnee, great new dancing Indian icon...

Hey kids, If I'm gone for a couple days, I got hit with three TROJANS called
Beyond.class,
BlackBox.class
VB.class

Norton CANNOT remove them...

So I MAY need to reformat if I cannot find some way to dump them!

edit:
I traced them down as Java applications and I deleted the JAVA cache (I know that may noit mean much)...but they're GONE.
I made the mistake of ONCE allowing an "expert" to look at my machine and he babbled about my SUN Java being outmoded. Before I had the wherewithal to tell him I used the WINDOWS version, he loaded the new Frucking SUN Java engine. EVERY attack I have had the last 6 months has come through that Java Engine.

The NEXT person who tries to adjust my settings gets BROKEN FINGERS...and NECK. ONE idiot tried it several years ago and I should have learned my lesson THEN!

I think all is well...but now I have to figure how to get the WINDOWS Java engine back totally so this crap doesn't go on forever!

We dodged a bullet!

Back finally. Been out to dinner, reading and then glued to the TV news. OY, what a bunch of bumbling idiots in Atlanta, eh? Even this hick town doesn't allow fire arms in the court house. They have the police lock them up before they get in. Deputies escorting prisoners are not armed either.

Julie, dear heavens!! Have you tried Clarinex? It may not bother you and your RLS as much....maybe?

Hope you enjoyed your alone time. I treasure mine.

Dryer lint?? Humm, at least the bears won't get into that

Shawnee, Love Jerry Baker's radio show on Sat mornings. I listen to him when I'm still in bed. Got me to peeing in a jar to treat the lawn.

At least gold fish aren't too expensive and grow to a reasonable size. Take some pictures.
I wanted some Coi fish but one of my friends bought some for her pond not thinking that bass just love them. ( we have large mouth bass in ours) They ATE every one of the Coi...about $300.00 worth.

I do notice that far too many people leave children and purses unattended in those damned grocery carts. Hopefully nothing will happen to the little ones but if someone looses a purse, hope they learn a good lesson.

Susan,
don't know if these new moms will go for a leash.
but they saved my ass on more than one occasion. I had four of the little "darlings" 13 months apart. Leashed all of them.
Go for it. At least she would be safe.

Roger, oh CHIT!! Gerard just had me update Java. We had the old one and he wanted to play some damned black jack game that required the new version. CHIT, CHIT,CHIT!! He will be my first moving target if we get a virus, Trojan or worm from it.

No cigs since last Sunday night and I'm up three lbs with no change of diet. DAMN it!

Oh those goat skin slings for skiing were wonderful!! Gosh we should get together and go to the Lake Placid Hilton and hang out at the indoor pool with ours. Are you game? Always loved the area but not that mountain any more. White Face Mt scares the crap out of me since those darn snow snakes got me and my knee.

Where is our Dock Goddess?

Best get going on tomorrow's thread.

Grrrr, Where's Julie?!

That Gal made me work my butt off this afternoon re Fire Threats, tackling some overgrown Butterfly Bushes ...(think Jack and the Bean Stalk) ... those hummers are/were 20 ft tall...and too close to the house. I'm NOT finished, gotta haul some off to the landfill chipper/shredder.
Really, Julie...Thanks for making me get started on that project I'd been putting off.
BTW, our neighbors had a Fourth of July party last year, collage kids being goofy with fireworks...caught their barkdust on fire.

Zip, Thanks for the nice pic...looks lovely and relaxing. Portland put in a similar one a few years back. My lil pond I dug out myself is a whopping 55 gal.size. (drop in preformed liner; those tree roots were a b*tch)) Bob also "let" me dig the wiring trench, so the electrical stuff is all in conduit underground.
Glad that "grow to match your space" doesn't apply to humans.
I feel the same way bout my puter...MAFIA PROPERTY...KEEPA YOU HANDS OFF! Kaci is my only exception, she gets me out of messes.

Montana, every Spring I get 20 feeder goldfish for $2.00. Beside Coons, we get herons, ducks, and hawks dropping by...I love them, but not enough to feed them koi. Frogs are skinnydipping and singing in pond right now.
Three lbs on a tiny thing like you! Can ya do something to up your metabolism speed?

HEY Jacki...this may eventually be coming your way: A Florida school is trying out South Beach lunches! Just ditching sugar and white flour has gotta be an improvement for those kids.
