Thursday, March 10 for the MVM's
OK, I"m still up so I'll get us started for Thursday.
You guys have to try that "White Castle Hamburger Pie" It's pretty darn good. Had several pieces with some brussel sprouts and am stuffed. Hope I don't gain any weight with a slow metabolism from this not smoking crap. What a B**ch, eh? Be very happy you aren't here with us. Poor Gerard is really going to SUFFER. Ginny, Getting this up even before you are home from work and posting. Hope you didn't have to work too long last night. Barb, Yeah I'm gonna BLOW big time soon. teehee This addiction withdrawal sucks! So what's with the new avatar? It's nice but show us something beautiful like some scenery from Colorado or a pretty picture of you. Roger, Glad you are all set with your SS application and possibly a parking space. So what kind of vehicle are you thinking of getting? Toyota, Honda and Subaru are some of the best mechanically. Jackie, Glad you aren't afraid of "no stinking volcano" I would be. but at least it would be quick!Julie, you get up at 8AM? Hell, I don't even think of crawling out of bed until at least 9 AM eastern. BTW thanks for the site and pictures of Mt. St. Helens. Now I have some beautiful screen savers. Loretta, is DH thinking of getting the boat together yet or still just happily smoking his cigar? Shawnee, did you and Ol Red get working on the lawn? I'm so jealous. Wanna come and shovel the snow off ours? Susan, are you working or babysitting for Ella? |

Good Morning Linda, Julie...
Tee, Hee, now I don't have to remember what day it is at the crack of dawn (since I'm not very good at it anyway.) CONGRATULATIONS on stopping smoking. I am SOO proud of you. Use some self hypnosis to calm yourself down' it's not pysiological, more psychological. Same reaction as a person who has chewed off his fingernails every day for two decades gettin rammy if somebody ties his hands behind his back. Friend Vicki managed to quit about 5 years ago and didn't gain a single pound and she's about your weight, but just a little taller (5'2".) She was PETRIFIED at the thought. I gained 15# in 30 days after I quit 25 years ago and it's the SAME damned 15 pounds I gain and lose at the drop of a hat...I didn't think it was possible to gain so fast. Trouble was I wasn't weighing myself daily and I never saw it coming til I was up a pants size. Ohhh...that White Castle Pie doesn;t sound right...like salami filled-Oreos, or candied sardines! ![]() I need to find some good picture of old Saint Helen...I'm either trying the webcams before dawn or after dusk. I'm sure there's some news footage with some snazzy pictures. Up too early...NEED...coffee (hurry up, Bob!) To all a good day...be back later.

I don't have to be afraid....I quit being afraid of volcanos about......let me count..........35 years ago? oh I kill me..... That pie sure sounds good. I too am proud of you for quitting. It's not an easy thing to accomplish. I quit smoking back in 1982 after trying a couple times. Now if I could just get DH to do it. Waving at everyone....have a good day. |

I've decided to do Saint Paddy's Day early.
I'll throw together a nice corn beef and some of Shop-Rite's $.07 cabbage and some lovely Red Bliss potatoes for tonight. It's so easy since all I have to do is keep my eye on the clock so I know when to add what when...and I have everything already in the fridge. 3:00 start simmering the beef in a big pot of water 5:00 throw in the potatoes 5:20 throw in the cabbage quarters 5:50 take out the beef...sit it on a cutting board 6:00 slice the beef, scoop out the veg and serve dinner on a hot plate! And it's Erin go Brach! I like meals this easy...no gravy, no two ways of cooking, and ONE POT! |

We are covered with the white stuff agin! DD's pool is covered up to the garden table about 4ft deep now in untouched areas! Glad to see Barb and Jacki posting! Hi to all
Zip, I just bought my corned beef today and will cook it on St. Patty's day. Just seems like it will fit right in then. Potatoes??????? What's that all about. Like your picture of St. Helens mt. Beautiful colors. Linda glad you are throwing away those cigs. You will feel so much better after a while without them. No cigarette cough, no smells etc, etc. If I did gain any weight when I quit it is gone now. Hope your food tastes a lot better, it did for me. Not sure about Dh and the boat but it sure has been cold here only up in the 40s during the day. He is slowly doing some little things, like ordering more stuff for the boat He wants to just throw the stuff back in. I really like that White Castle Hamburer pie. I've been making it for quite a while. That and Mexicali Cabbage Pie another favorite of mine. Julie I sure would like to have some of that 60 degree weather. Bet it feels like spring there. Jackie I would be moving out of that volcanos way very quickly if it started for me. Susun good to hear from you. You sure have lots of snow there. 4 feet wow. Ella is growing like a weed. Got any more good pictures of the doll? Hoping to work up some energy for Suzie today. Sure don't have the spirit. Later, Loretta |

Hey all,
A bit warmer for us today, low 50's and sunny! I can live with that for a while ![]() Got brave today and made up a Carbsense Carrot Cake mix. Taste test is in progress, and so far it's pretty good warm. I really like their Apple Cinnamon muffin mix (I do add extra cinnamon) but have not been too impressed with the lemon cookie mix or choc. cake mix. Won't buy them again, but will use up what's in the freezer. Results are in: doesn't taste like a traditional carrot cake (DR made the BEST in the world) but is pretty good. I think I'll buy this mix again, but will make it like muffins for portability next time. It's worth a try, and you tweakers could have some fun with it maybe. Not even going to attempt to quit smoking here......too many would DIE. Linda, been there done that, just hang in there and it WILL get better. Last time I quit for 5 months, but I reckon I wasn't ready to stay quit. Shawnee, how did you and Ol' Red do? Won't be long and we'll need to even out the weeds here. Pups are enjoying the sunshine today, various snoozing positions. Loretta, I'm sure when it warms up just a bit your DH will get eveything situated on the boat. Can't see a avid fisherman NOT getting set up as soon as the weather becomes reasonable! Are you feeling better yet? Zip, enjoy the one-pot meal! Those were my absolute fav before the advent of our dishwasher! Still dear to my heart (and cooking skills) and utilize the concept whenever I can ![]() Jacki, glad to see you posting again! How's the world been treating you? Barb, enjoy your long weekend! Wish I could get away with a 4 day week, but they'd KILL me! Even when I take vacation, they are so happy to see me back.....but I'm sure that's because they have to work boucoups overtime then as my shift MUST be covered LOL Julie, I'll take your 60's if you want to send it here......got sunshine? Hate to lose a good post Susan, enjoy your day with DD and Ella. Before you know it she'll be running! Well, all, off to the salt mines.

Looking for a good BBQ ribs recipe.
As I am over at DD's can't find the one Linda posted last week. I have gone back a few posts and can't find it. I just wanted to put some pork rib roast in the slow cooker for DD and I for tonight. Anyone got the recipe? Thanks, SuSUN |

Hi Y'all
A fantastic Spring Day here. I didn't get to ol' Red yesterday...my Indian buddy showed up, and it took us several hours to catch each other up. Maybe I'll tackle that grass soon...barring a diversion, of course. Loretta, yeah...been watering stuff in pots. We have very heavy morning dews, so everything planted is doing the "survival of the fittest"...they are used to it anyway, I have just too many plantings to water them all. I think I have a corned beef in one of the freezers, I usually get several when I see a sale. Gotta celebrate the 1/4 of me thats ScotsIrish...which 1/4 is that tho? maybe my temper and my love of spuds! ![]() Zip, whatcha gonna eat on the real day, if ya indulge now? I'll try to keep an eye on that particular bud you are betting 14 days on; it has about 7 more in competition. Speaking of Betting, Bob thinks we are overdue for a trip to Portland Meadows Horseracing. LOL, he reads the racing forms, I pick by the look of the horses...we both lose about equally. ![]() Ginny, you are baking up a storm. Oh, carrot cake...love that stuff. Haven't done any yummy baking since before Christmas..had a stockpile in the freezer...running low now. Good the Pups are enjoying their leisure time in the sun...and its a pleasure watching them doing their stretch and snooze routines. So you are a Beginning of Spring Baby? SuSUN, what a visual, 4ft of snow. Bet you are enjoying Ella more each time you visit, as she increases her skills. Jacki, my concern re our Mountain is the ash blowing our way...good fertilizer, but hell on breathing and motors. Don't rush it,(35 years).. it will be 25 years in May since the Big Blow. Since the Scientists are still scratching their heads re predictions...well, what will be will be. Can't really imagine another huge damaging eruption, since she has no Top to blow off...she still has those darn Earthquake abilities tho. ...again, not something to waste any time worrying over.Do you still have those gorgeous Flame-colored tulips? If so, how tall? Hey to Julie, Montana, Barb... be back later on. Shawnee |

Geezzz Julie, you people out there are in big trouble. Maybe Shawnee and I can do a rain dance for you. Lordy it's going to be a real bad wildfire season for all in the NW. Shawnee, get a couple of goats and forget about Big Red. Catching up with old friends is so much more fun and interesting.Susan, too late for the ribs. You have to bake them at 250 degrees for 6 hours. Baste a good BBQ sauce on about 1 hr. before they are done and serve extra on the side for those who want more. Ginny, I never really tried before and had no real intention of quitting either. It just happened for some strange reason. Don't know if I'll stay quit either but we shall see. It's not quite as bad as I thought it would be. Loretta, would you believe my Irish Gerard doesn't like corned beef and cabbage one bit? Can't even cook cabbage around him with out him complaining. Hope you and DH enjoy yours. Save me some, OK? Do you suppose, for Rogers sake, that we change the name of those meat pies to casseroles? Jackie, glad you aren't afraid of "no stinking Volcano" Can't live our lives in fear. That would be awful!Barb, Hell wish I had given it up when I was 25 like I did a few other "things". Roger, love those one pot meals, but no potatoes for us. Eating a medium one causes the same BS spike that eating a 1/4 cup of sugar does. Good for Vickie. Hope I don't find those 15 lbs you keep losing and finding again. Nope, I won't. |

What is the one thing in a girls life that would render her able to feel 'no fear' from a volcano???? LOL @ All Y'all. I am no longer a candidate for 'sacrifice to the volcano gods'. LOL LOL LOL Not for over 35 years. wink wink Y'all are too funny. What have I been up too? Work and work on the house---continues. This weekend we are going to paint the exterior. My brother is going to start it tomorrow then DH and he will hit it hard all weekend. We are still working on the kitchen area.....but we are almost done there. I HOPE! I hope all is well with everyone. |

Gee Linda, what you gave up at age 25, I might have taken up in "my later years".
After, I'm going to live until I die! Jacki, aren't you glad you are a PROUD home-owner? We used to use all of our extra time on the house but now....... Julie, rain dance comin' up? Let me know - I LOVE to dance! I think our snow pack will be adequate for the summer - sure do hope so with the past years of fires.Linda, my avatar is tring to keep up with *Michael's glasses and complexion* I hope that ****** gets what's comin' for him!! Shawnee, you have encouraged me to name both the lawn mover and the car!! Now, lets see, Besse and Snake Eyes" ?? Ginny, that's a good sign that they want you back after a vacation and loooooong weekend. Next year we are going to four day weeks all year long -- love it ! love it!! They say the absence makes the hear grow fonder -- but mine only piles up more work!! Later, DH wants dinner - imagine that!!

Jacki and Barb, you crack me up!!!
Oh man, am listening to the local news and how depressing. Turn off the faucet when brushing teeth etc. Yes, fire is a big worry Linda. We are already getting a few!! Not sure how much worse it could be. Shawnee and Jacki, do you have trees near your houses? I'd cut them down pronto. I'm serious! That newscast scared the hell out of me and what this summer or NOW will be like. Barb, PLEASE SEND RAIN OR SNOW PACK OR START DANCING KIDDO!!! |

Hi Y'all
ok, Jacki...call me slooooow... I did NOT get the connection. LOL, in this day and age, Virgins are worth more than their weight in gold, and even more scarce. WASTE one on a Volcano?!!! ![]() I don't even wanna count that far back, since DSon is 39 and DD was even older! WTG, Barb...name those fuel burners! Are those 8 hour days, or 10, or 12? Yeah, its comforting to me, my stuff having names. Ol' Red is my fav, and is more faithful than an ex-husband I could name. Got my lil pond cleaned out and refilled...but the pump said NO MORE...I've kept it fixed for 15 years, then turned it over to Bob last year for one last repair...I got a new one tonight...LOL, they just don't make things like they used to! ![]() Red and I worked up a nice sweat, lawns look good...mid seventies here today. The Kiwi (female one, not the slow male) is starting to leaf out. The squirrels and birds always get all the fruit....as well as the cherries, grapes, etc..but sharing is supposed to be a good thing... ![]() Sorry Julie, my trees are staying, ...all 40 or so of them. Call me hard-headed and irresponsible, I bought this place for the existing trees...and planted more. Luckily for us, the FireStation is just about 1/2 mi away, and there's a Plug near the front of our house...a little judicious pruning will have to do. (A RainDance and Prayers couldn't hurt) My Insurance guy said my cedar fence is more of a fire hazard than the trees. Time to make a late/light supper. Hard work and aching hindquarters decreases my appetite. ![]() SHawnee |
