WEDNESDAY for MVM with notebads aworkin'
Good morning,
I went to the Mt. St. Helens cam, but of course it's only pretty squiggles of color, almost like a Van Gogh. I guess 3 more hours will tell the tale. It is blue bloody cold...and I must be up at Journal Square at 10 for SS. I was hoping the parka was away for the month, but I guess not...oy, and snow shoes even with only about 3 inches, it's probably slippery with wind chills of ZERO. There was a guy named Vacant in a concentration camp during a War who was given two potatoes a day for his work. He looked down on those who only got ONE because they were not as good as he...they were called Unfortunates. When Unfortunates hollered for a quarter extra potato a day so they didn't die quite so fast, Vacant sided with the Camp Commandant when he set the dogs on the Unfortunates without ever once noticing that the Commandant's dining table was always filled with fine roasts, huge delicious cakes, and surrounded by beautiful women, wondrous furnishings and non-stop entertainment. (And there were billions of potatoes in his potato bin...he used them for mulch.) When the War ended, the Commandant was charged with Egregious Inhumanity and hanged by the those who overthrew his forces. Vacant was torn apart by the Unfortunates and eaten. Getting out the old diet pad...I CANNOT stick to 2 glasses of wine a day it's causing slow weight gain and so I will stop alcohol this week AGAIN for several months and tally every calorie...also, again. Here we go again old buddy, 2000 calories/day. I know you well. Have a nice day everyone.

OK, here's the poop.
Got to SS Office at 9:45 for a 10:00 appointment. They called me in at 10:15, I was done out and filed at 10:40. I got to keep all my paperwork. I'm getting direct deposit. Not bad on the time angle BUT there were over 150 people in the waiting room with only 10% with appointments...I'd hate be amoung the 135 without; they'll be there til Memorial Day. I thought they might be able to call up my already finished on-line application. They couldn't find it but the questions went bang-bang- bang. Here's how it works. You qualify for a check for the FIRST month in which you were totally 62. There IS a loophole...people born on the first and second get the whole month of their birth. You are paid the NEXT month after the qualified month and your check comes on Wednesday: first, second, third or fourth depending on where your birthday falls. So it will be a LONG time for my first check...fourth Wednesday in May! If you want to work a little you can make $11 Grand (and something) without paying anything back. I wanted to stroll around Journal Square, since I don't get up there often...the old city center, but it was too friggen cold and icy but I DID manage to take a little detour through JC's INDIANTOWN (curry, not woo-woo ) and I found, get ready for this: CHANA DAL (roasted as snacks). Of course, anybody who has ever visited the Mendosa Glycemic Index pages knows that Chana Dal is the miracle carbohydrate with a glycemic index, like 8! I think that's less glycemic than some MEAT![]() !http://www.mendosa.com/chanadigest.htm Cute little buggers, like 1/2 sized chickpeas. I'll review the taste after I try them. HI Shawnee and Zip
Just a few more days Zip and we can pronounce you 62 years old. March is a great month for birthdays. Barb, Zip, Me, Linda? Not sure about that one. From Linda on Monday Quote:
Shawnee, OK OK I see the bud. I am thinking about taking a pic of my barren dirt filled pots. They are just going to be late bloomers but they will be grand. Have you had to water your pots? We have been getting our fair share of rain. Just been busy today getting some inside work done so next week when it gets nice (hope, hope, ) I can start on the outside stuff. DH has not even been motivated to get his boat back together. Smoking a cigar a day now. He's happy.Hey Julie, we must have been posting at the same time. Will check back later for the rest of the story from the other MVMs. They're out there somewhere, doing something, maybe shopping. Maybe WORKING and getting closer to that SS. Linda hope you are not sick. If you are, GET WELL!!!! Maybe it was that carbquik. Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 03-09-2005 at 04:18 PM. |

Hmmm do I hear a grumpy old man??????
Who ever gets here first can start it Zippo! I don't get up very early...8:00 PDT but will if nobody else has. Not much going on today around the pacific northwest. After last nights excitement nothing could compare except a large explosion. In 1980 it shook my house like a car had hit it and we live 2 1/2 hours away. We could see it from our front yard. Not today as it's cloudy!! boohooo Enough whining as I don't have any cheese at the puter. Had lunch with a friend. 2nd day in a row. When it rains, it pours! Just picked up Nick from school and in my sweats and don't plan on getting off my perch the rest of the day. Shawnee, tulips looking nice and green!

Hi old farts
Sun was out but it was damned cold again today. This just CAN'T last much longer. This miserable ol B**ch ( GOD I WANT A CIGARETTE) got to the grocery store and that's about it. Made that recipe Jezzie posted..."White Castle Hamburger Pie" and it was pretty good. Tried the recipe for chocolate chip cookies with that crap carbquick stuff that are OK. Chips came from Netrition too and they are OK. Roger, So it wasn't too difficult to file for SS? That's good to know. Humm, looks like you and I both will receive our checks on the last Wed. of the month. My first will be in Aug. Anxiously awaiting test results on Chana Dal taste test. Guess I could put up the thread at night since I usually check in about 1 or 2 AM. IF I can remember. Shawnee, Oh my goodness. Thanks for that picture of your tulip pot. Going to make that my new screen saver for awhile. Mowing your lawn already We still have a half foot or more of snow covering ours. Where IS that green with envy smiley?Julie, Holy cow you, Shawnee and Jackie are in my thoughts. Good GOD I hope that mountain doesn't blow. With all the earth quake activity around the world, Yellowstone growing a dome and now Mt. St. Helens, it's getting rather scary. Loretta, Glad DH is happily smoking a cigar. Tell him to have a puff for me. Humm, thought he was really anxious to get out there and catch some crappie. Gotta go back and try to concentrate on reading yesterday's post. My mind is NOT working right. This not smoking is the pitts. Gotta tell Gerard to hide my gun and keep out of my way. ![]() |

I think the least dangerous volcano is one that puffs regularly.
It's the quiescent ones that build and build and then BOOM every couple centuries to look out for. Let Helen vent...it's good for ALL of us. ![]() 'Night |

Gee, I thought you were talking about Linda not puffing and then getting ready to blow!
A volcano or Linda??? Stick with it Linda, it can only get better. Speaking of the morgue, sounds like we have birthdays pretty close Zip --of course I'm MUCH younger (like a year ) Yes Loretta, we are out there, supporting the rest by putting in those salt mine hours, toiling from sun-up to sun-down. Why isn't DH interested in the boat anymore? You must be getting close to those good old fishing days. Feeling any better Linda? Spring has sprung here, birds are chirping, gettin' those old shorts out for the weekend!! Waving to the rest and anyone staying up long enough to check in again -- tired and hitting the sack! Barb
