I smell Biscuits in Binghampton.

Finished aerobics early...thank God. 1/2 hour at 130-140 BPM...woogly legs at finish. Just a set of back extensions to keep limber. Two weeks off was hurting my back, so the right kind of activity is better than none.

Tried to call SS twice today (Monday is BAD.) I've got the on-line application all filled out and it only requires sending. So I want a definitive answewr to the question: IF I go to the office and they do all the paperwork, can I show them my Birth Certificate and walk AWAY WITH IT!
If the answer is yes, I'll go up Wednesday morning (a PATH ride)...if not, I'll hit the online SEND button and mail the BS in.

THe SNEAKS...you get a check for the first FULL month you are 62...so my birthday on the 31st doesn't get me a check for March (In fact they CALL it a check for MAY but I presume that means you earn it in the monthe BEFORE!) But then I guess the ones who get screwed the worst are the ones with birthdays on the first or second of the month!

Oh, Senator Chuck Hegel (a good Republican from Nebraska) is introducing today a measure to raise the retirement age from the current 67...to 68! (Reagan signed the up from 65 to 67!) Of course that would mean that those kids who claim early will lose over 30% instead of the current 25%. (Ginny, call your Senators...at the rate they're going you're going to have to be 90!!)

Susun,
Aww, sorry your boy is floundering...the thought of lonliness gets more oppressive as we age (I assume he's late 30'ish?). He'll find someone in the LAST place he expects to look! I hope he's over the "we all want Antonio Sabato" phase...perfection is often the enemy of VERY GOOD!
Sorry no Power Point on my Office Suite...so no .ppm files for me!

edit:

OK, here's the FINAL WORD. IF you don;t want to mail your birth certificate and other personal info then you make an appointment at the SS office. They will fill out the application, Xerox all your stuff and you take it all home with you. Remember you need picture ID too...so that's passport or state driver's license WITH PIC! AND your SS card and your W-2 from last year if you worked in that year (2004 for now.)
Whew...getting that info took LOTS of elevator music!

Boy, sure glad to hear that news Roger...SS has an office not far from us so thats what I'll do too.
So guess I'm one of the ones getting screwed..my birthday is the 8th. Not far from the 1st! Whine, whine, whine...

HI Linda and everyone else running through.

Went to Mervyns but didn't find anything. Is it my imagination or are they stocking more junior clothes?? Grocery store and taxi ing DGD to Pre K. Now I'm working on getting all my passwords on a disk and put in alphabetical order!!! Got tons of them so this will take awhile.

HI Gang

Busy day here shopping for paint, pants, shoes and other items.
Rainy day here with thunder storms. Dh is procrastinating putting the boat back together. I think because I have been gone a good part of the day. We will get to it, but our weather is suppose to turn cold 30s and be a crumby week.

Zip that is what happened when I first got on my SS.

"THe SNEAKS...you get a check for the first FULL month you are 62...so my birthday on the 31st doesn't get me a check for March (In fact they CALL it a check for MAY but I presume that means you earn it in the monthe BEFORE!) That is just the way it is. My check gets deposited around the 3rd Wed of every month. No more 1st of the month except for some that have been on it a while. The first check you get will be for 2 months. You will like that.

I did signing up by phone and it was really a lot easier than going to the office.

Linda let us know how you like that carbquik. I am just leary of that prepared stuff. I am happy with leaving the biscuits alone.
Hope the weather was cooperative for your running around day.

Julie good luck with getting those passwords organized. You sure do need a list. Every site almost wants you to have a password. Then some want letters and numbers. I tried the Norton's password manager but it locked up my pc 3x and it was out of here. I'd rather keep up with them myself. Print a copy out too while your at it.

Later folks
Not well yet. Soon I hope.

I will have to work how long?? Pretty soon seniors be those entering their 70's!!

Let us know how the carbquick goes..... I'm leary of prepared products and seldom splurge on those -- but double martini's with large garlic olives!!

Sounds like I need to package up some warmth and sun and spread it around!! It's 60 today and plenty of sun.

Julie, you shop in petites at all? I always do because of being short and small boned. Those shirt sleeves always come down to my elbows and pants are always too long unless I get "short". Time to get some new spring clothes - huh?

SuSUN, how old is your DS? I never push anyone into permanent relationships anymore. All of the people I have EVER fixed up together in my LIFE -- are now all divorced!! Especially girls, I think they should become self-sufficient and independent and never have to depend on some guy to support them. They (men) only serve one purpose anyway - don't you think?

You bet I have exciting weekends!!

Five years ago I had a cancer scare (first diagnosed and then reversed when going for a 2nd opinion) and I decided that I could die at anytime and was going to live for today. DH and I made a list of things we want to do and accomplish and let's go after it!! Every year on our birthdays we re-visit that list and see what we have accomplished and in what direction we are going this next year. My goal for this year is to complete a 5K by 4th of July. For spring break, five of us (just women) are going to a yoga retreat and spa for five days. I used to do yoga and have been back at it once a week for about a year. The SPA part is what I like!!

I also like my "space" and "quiet" and may end life by being a hermit!

Later,

Waving to all....... Barb

Barb,

What a wondeful idea those GOTTA DO's are...I'm gonna think about that REALLY hard.

TV TONIGHT: For those with SHOWTIME...at 8:00 SUPERSIZE ME, supposed to be a good movie about the HUGE amounts of food we eat.
And at 10...episode one of FAT ACTRESS...Kirstie Allie is going on a 70 pound weight loss plan; the series will follow her in real time.

I FINALLY got my passwords done, on a floppy and alphabetized. Had a slight mishap and lost 99 of the 125. Erased, zapped and gone and had to retype them. I have been saving passwords for about 6 years now. Probably could've got rid of some but sure as hell if I do, I'll need it tomorrow!!! I just put them into a spreadsheet on Microsoft Works as we don't have Word. Glad it's over and now will be easier to find one when I need it.

Barb, what a great idea. You and DH have it right...life is too short. When we were younger and DH was doing some traveling for the Gov. we both would go and I got to see some of the world. Cancer scare will sure make you stop and take stock. Good for both of you.

Yes, I buy some Petites but sometimes they are a little to short in the crotch so have to be careful. Legs are short but not body. Make sense?? I hate taking up hems in jeans especially but I usually have to buy misses so out comes the needle and thread. Better than constantly pulling my jeans out of my you know where. Sleeves are a given. Always toooooo long. Oh well.

off to get jammies on and get ready for the evening. Early to bed for me........only slept 4 1/2 hours last night. Don't ask me why, I don't have a clue!!

Hi Y'all

SuSUN, nice to see ya flying thru here. Hope your weather is better tomorrow. Forgot to respond earlier to your Sacred Smoke/Addictive Weed comment: IMO, most of the Native "fixes"
for illnesses/addictions, whatever...needs to incorporate some Faith- Based action, along with the usual protocols.

Julie, MY GAWD...126 ! WOW ! LOL, I have maybe 7-8. Don't belong to that many Groups; I like to just snoop on some Boards.
LOL, tell me about those Petites! I sometimes buy them because so many Misses and Juniors are just too damn long, even the SHORT ones...but, as you say...um, riding in a car can get mighty uncomfortable

Barb...sometimes we have a real GEM of info dropped on us here, and Today you did the dropping! Your List of things ya wanna do!
I have a crappy list of things I HAVE to do...Time to get a Wanna Do List going.

Zip, YES...give Barb's idea a lot of thought. Time gets away too fast.
Love Kirstie Allie, she's a Hoot. She does great facial expressions.
BooHoo, my B-day is on the 5th....oh, well...

Ginny, hope work is going well, and all the Pups are doing OK. Bout time for PupUpdates.

Loreta, sorry you are still not back to 100%. Everyone seems to be having a hard time rebounding from the Crud this year.
Do ya suppose those missing Tulips rotted (the bulbs, that is?)
I finally spotted ONE bud in mine. Finally the Daffys are celebrating here.

Montana, REPORT ASAP re CarbQuik From what I've read by users who "know what they're doing, LC-wise"....its foolish to expect Bisquick-type results, but with some tweeking/experimenting, good results can be had.
Good Luck with it.

later All.

EDITED:

LORETTA... love your siggy saying.

"Not what we have, but what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance. "-- John Petit-Senn

I thought of it today as I caught a segment on Dr Phil: A ''material" couple with 3 kids had jacked themselves into over $400,000 debt via Home Equity Loans...trying to have what their neighbors had..Huge house, BMW, Mercedes, Timeshare condo in HA, Summer Camp. ZERO Savings! The final blow was when the Husband was told that his job was ending in 8 weeks.

Back finally but am pooped.

Gerard said the "biscuits" were OK but I hated them. YUCK!!

Roger, I have a phone appointment on the 15th of this month to apply. We shall see what happens. I do have two copies of my birth certificate though so am not worried much.

Hell, we will all be dead by the time they decide what to do about social security, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Julie, I'm so sick and tired of trying to buy slacks and jeans that I could scream!! AND I refuse to sew. My inseam is 28 and the only ones that fit are a boys 14, unless I buy expensive stuff on the INTERNET.

YUCK on the pass words. I use only one or two and can't be bothered with so darn many.

Loretta, Gee sorry you aren't back to 100%. This winter has been so hard on many.

Hope you and DH get that boat back into the water soon. I'm sure it's going to be beneficial for both of you.

Barb , those cancer scares are not fun. Been there, done that.

LOL yeah a double martini with a garlic olive is great, but haven't had one in a good many years.

on the carbquick.

HI ya Susan, hope you enjoy no Monday groups for awhile.

Yeah, this weather sucks!

Shawnee, YIKES What idiots those people are , eh? I don't' watch his show or any of the talk shows but am rethinking it.

I may experiment with some of that carbquick but the taste of the crap is BITTER. We shall see.

Night all, I"m pooped.
