Good morning, Vickie and all the maintainers!
Vickie, my daughter will be seven in May, I introduced her to my boyfriend last night, he came over for dinner and the three of us had a very easy and relaxing evening. We had dinner, they played a game of Yahtzee, we watched the Princess Bride while she sat at the coffee table and drew us pictures, and then they both teased me about pictures of me with big poufy hair in the 1980's! Janina, I remember you said that you thought I'd meet someone important in March. Well, guess what? You were right! I've been in love before, but never with anyone who I could talk to for hours and who makes me laugh like Steve does. Because of my history, I'm not rushing into anything, but I think this is going to be very good. Have a great day, all, I will be swamped at work today but will post back tonight! Rachel |

Happy Monday everyone!
Bree!Well, its another week of successful maintaining, right? That's my goal for this week. Maybe to even gain a couple of pounds. The doctor appt last week went well, although he's a bit concerned that I am still down 6 pounds from December. I weighed 94 today... Well, I am eating well and feeling good, so he was pleased with that. I got his permission to try and go back to work 13 hours a week starting next week. Maybe 3 half days to see how I do. I'm a bit nervous about it .. keep me in your thoughts and prayers! Ran 25.4 miles last week (4 days). That's the farthest I've ever gone in one week. I was so excited. My goal for the month of March is 100 miles. Got to do it if I hope to make my ultimate goal of 1,000 miles run in 2005!! Hope you all have a terrific week and stay on plan! Betty

I wish my psychic ability was saying better things about my bestfs new bf. I am glad J and S got along! betty, when I run I eat! 94 is too skinney! If you are gonna run you need to eat..I just worry about you! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as far as work. i know it is a big step and i am happy you are getting to the point where you can do these things again. I ran 4 miles and up and down hills this weekend. i thought of ya.... Julie, when i am 61 i beeter be as fit as you..61 is young compared to what 61 used to be..yuo are my moms age. I haven't got on the scale..it is good for me to stay away from it but my clothes fit good. Hi bree, hi everyone else.... QOTH at what age has your body been the best? For me right before my dd was born..early 30s. Wasn't too thin and was working out but not obsessed. It was just right. i want to hear youtr answers as we are varying ages... Power yoga tonight. hello all-
Wanted to get back into my excercise program, but it just didn't happen. It is amazing how hard it is to fit it in when you are so busy...thankfully things will calm down a bit come Wed. I did scrub floors and capets today and know I did get excercise just not the form I want. I am amazed at all of the running and yoga going on...you ladies rock! My goals this week are to walk four miles three days this week (used to do 8), Bike an hour at least once (new), and do my winsor pilates video three times (haven't started it yet) So let me see if I can get this done. Good morning, I am up and exercised, which is 1/5 for the week, seems like I am hitting 4/5 for the week, so that's my new goal, I will allow myself one day to hit the snooze button, but once I've used that ticket, it's gone!!
Steve came over last night, we read the newspaper while I did laundry and while dd finished her homework and played on the computer...after, we all played a game...and then we all sat on the couch and talked about our days together... I am running late, need to get ready for work, but Janina, it could quite easily happen that way!! I'll be back later with indies!! Rachel |

Hi all! it should be sunny here today and it isn't...wahhh! I missed my yoga tape last night so today I need to really get back with it! I might take A to the beach for a walk in her jogger...I promise to do something today!
Rachel, I am so happy for you. I did have a feeling about you. I never had a great feeling about the one before S, but S sounds great. I have tried to ask the right question to C(Best friend) about her new bf but she isn't listening.i will not jugde him or comment myself but keep asking questions. Any ideas how to warn her about certain things i see or feel without damaging the friendship? she knows how in tune I am about these things and will talk about it, but doesn't want to hear it from me about her. i have got a few pms from three differant Losers. it is nice to hear from them....and am so thankful you are here with me! Hopefully soon they will be joining us maintainers! I will be back later Janina |

Hi all, that is a good idea about the challenge,, I did 3 miles on the treadmill this morning and then DH and I lifted weights tonight for about an hour. I am going to run at least 45 minutes tomorrow. I am still trying to get all that nasty chinese food out of my system,, I lost 2 of the 3 pounds that I gained, I hoped to lose the other pound but I ate some bread with dinner,, it was a good lc multigrain, so maybe it wont hurt much. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, talk you you all later. Brenda

Hi, just got home from running errands with dd....Steve has a night shift tonight, but I will see him tomorrow when dd is having dinner with her dad...his schedule is really different, day shifts, night shifts, weekend shifts, it's going to take a bit for me to get used to dating someone who doesn't have the same hours as me but he's totally worth it...
today, I got a note and a call from two boys who I used to date, and I wish they'd "get it" that I'm not interested and just go on with their respective lives...I just delete the e-mails and erase the voice messages...it's really odd because these are boys who weren't really that into me when I dated them and now they continue to pursue me...and it's been many months since I've seen either of them...weird!!!!! I am having a weird eating day, my menu looked like this: breakfast: yogurt w/blueberries snack: piece of sharp cheddar cheese lunch: grilled shrimp, broccoli, cauliflower, piece of sharp cheddar cheese snack: gave into the PMS monsters and had a Hershey's w/almonds, at least it's only 19 carbs dinner: chicken, 1/2 potato, 1/2 chocolate chip cookie snack: coffee, sparkling water, I am not hungry yet Even though I am PMS eating, I have noticed that I am doing really well at monitoring my appetite. I was happy to be able to put aside the rest of the cookie when I realized that I was full. Janina, I don't know what to say to you about your friend, as you know I have a friend whose fiancee I don't like at all, but it has to be her decision to dump him, I am trying to just be the supportive friend who always listens but it's SO HARD because I want to just say, "he's a jerk, he got you NOTHING for Christmas and then took you to ShopKo to buy a scarf?" and that's just the tip of the iceburg...thanks for the info on the challenge, I'm only exercising about 10 hours a month right now and am not quite ready to ramp it up. But I will sure join you when I am. Brenda, I think you are the exercise queen of our board, how does it work with you lifting weights with you DH, do you switch back and forth? Bree, I've discovered that exercise is the key for me, I feel much better when I workout in the AM, first thing. I understand about being swamped, I'm a single mom with a six year old daughter and I work full-time... Vickie, Betty, Ann, and Julie (*smile* I am 38, thanks for calling me young!!)...have a good night, see you tomorrow!! Rachel |

Hello everyone! Sorry I didn't get back here on Monday. Things have been hectic. I am at 108.5 Tues morning but I ate more cheese than I had planned to on Tuesday so wt might be back up Wednesday. For some reason I have been really hungry even though I am eating plenty of protein and moderate fat. Our weather is so crazy right now. I have only been able to do my 3 mi jog/fast walk once in the last week and I really miss that part of my exercise.
Ann, glad you came back to post. Betty, for you that you will do well going back to work. With all the running you do, unless you really increase your calories, it will be hard to gain some wt. But if you feel healthy, that is the main thing.Hi to Rachel, Janina, Bree, Brenda, and Julie! Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. Vickie

Right now I am going to put on my new bathing suit and go out into my new back yard and soak up the 80 degree weather and the sunshine and see if I can't just yet some color and take a nice nap.

Well today as been a really good day,, I have been bummed out as I have not heard from my son in 2 weeks ( He is in the Marines and stationed in Japan) and I got an email from him this morning telling me he was ok and that his phone was not working because they moved him to a new room. He is hoping to come home on leave in July, that will be one year for him being there,, I miss him alot, we have our fingers crossed that he wont go to Iraq anytime soon,, but you never know.. I was so excited after that I drank some energy drink and then I went downstairs to the treadmill and ran 7.5 miles,, it was great,, but now the back of my heel is hurting like crazy.
Rachel, we have 2 benches so when we lift together we just take turn on the benches, as only one has the attachments,, I do alot of free weights so I dont use the bench with attachments much except to do my legs,, sounds like things are going good for you with the new"bf". Bree, how lucky to be in 80 degree weather,, it is about 25 here today,, yuck. maybe you will feel more motivated tomorrow. Corgiegirl, I know just what you m ean about the cheese, that stuff causes me to gain weight if I over do it, which I do on occasion, I was back to 116 today,, would like to get back to 114 but we will see what happens,, hope everyone is having a good day. I got to go and check on dinner. Last edited by Brendajm : 03-09-2005 at 03:03 PM. |

Hi all! Like bree I got to enjoy my pool today. I was gardening in my swimsuit. it wasn't 80 but 70 so very nice. We are doing home projects here that is why I haven't been stopping by as much.
I am getting alittle discouraged at scale. I keep gaining with the running and workouts. Yesterday i ran my heart out and woke up 2 lbs heavier not fun! Today I did power yoga and no carbs after noon. I am not eating ater 7 eaither so we will see what happens. The crazy thing is i am having a harder time really getting deep into my yoga poses and it is a breeze to run and walk up hills for 45 minutes..trying to figure out which one is better or are both better? Rachel, I am so excited about you and Steve..what is up with the guys who didn't try hard enough to keep you and now want you back? if it is the one I am think of Brenda..so happy you heard from ds!! I admire those guys!!!!! go marines..but not brendas son to Iraq!Bree did you get some nice sun..i mainly worked and didn't lay out. My dh was from Ariz... Vickie..108 is terrific..I wish I could trade you..hard to believe a couple weeks ago I was 105..now with all of the owrkouts 112! yes I will admit it..i don't know what is up! My legs were alittle bloated looking this am..could it be from the running..eeek! see you all tomorrow! Janina |

Janina, good question! What makes you feel best? What makes you feel the healthiest? I am re-reading the Schwarzbein Principle, and she says to be careful with exercise like running and stair stepping machines, etc., because they are very hard on our bodies and don't contribute to our long term health. I think it's a personal choice that needs to be based on what makes each of us feel our best, healthwise.
Brenda, that's so good to hear about your son! It's wonderful that you and your DH support each other in exercising. Bree, eighty degrees and you get to go and lay out in your backyard? That sounds wonderful!! Vicki, how are things for you, less hectic I hope? I've got to get ready for work--had a nice dinner with my bf last night, dd's dad picks her up from school on Wednesday nights. See you later!! Rachel |

Hi to all - I've been MIA because I've been concentrating on re-Induction this week. Lowcarbette and I have made a pact to get our butts back in gear and get on with the program. I had an all out splurge last week and gained five pounds before I stopped. Anyway, I'm on my 4th day of Induction and determined to not regain all my weight back. My goal is to hit 95 lbs. by the time we go on our annual family vacation at the beach. I was 95 lbs. last Summer and lets just say, I was very happy with it. I've had four good workouts this week so far and feeling better about everything. At least a lot of my bloating is gone from my carb fest. Its amazing how fast the weight can pile back on if one just eats anything and everything they want.
I just wanted to let you know I am still around and certainly consider myself a new maintainer. Oh, the struggles we have. Good to see Betty checking in ever now and then.

Ann & Lesley! You guys are right back on track! Yep, I am doing good .. weight is still around 94 which is okay for me. I am eating though and eating pretty well .. no junk of course, just the good stuff! My running has increased to 25 miles a week. Gotta love that! I am enjoying the cool spring weather here while it lasts. Soon it will be the steamy summer and I'll have to cut back the miles a little. Hope everyone has a great Friday! Betty |

Hi all, did power yoga last night rather then a run. Ate no carbs after noon and scale went down 2 lbs to 110. I am going to keep up with the excersise even tho it is temporarily adding weight. i know it will drop one my body adjusts. It is crazy to see my legs swell up after a run. itis very noticable...
Betty you are a runner...can you help me out and explain the puffiness and bloat on my legs after a run? Rachel, i agree with you on doing what feels best for you. I have been liking my jogs lately bc I can tune out the world and not think for a bit. When I am doing yoga i have to concenttrate on poses and really push myself into them, but afterwords i feel great..and I also feel great after a run..energized..after yoga relaxed. i guess i just need to work it in to my moods and eating plan. Ann. good job. i think that this is what maintaining is actually...going up a bit and then coming down before i gets out of hand. I don't know how you guys get to 95. I look sickly under 105 but you guys look great and it is so personnel. Betty Ann how tall are you? I am 5'2. Ok I will be back later Take care Janina |

betty, I just looked at your gallery photos and whatever weight you are in them looks perfect on you. You look great!
Ok going to bed hungrey again..it is the only way to take off this weight. I will keep up with working out but go to bed hungrey. I guess I am just frustrated bc I don't feel I have found maitence yet. I am still tweaking and figuring things out. i know this is normal but it is just alittle frustrating. Betty, i guess i am where you are at with this. Amazing how changing plan can put the weight right back on again...or just change for that matter... grr.. how are you doing rachel? You uusally check in and fill us in on your exciting romance! i am getting excited for me and Bs anniversary... |

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days. Hope you are all doing well. I am hanging in at 109.75. I am just trying to maintain at 110 or just below for the time being rather than aiming for 105. The reason I decided to give up the 105 goal for now is that after 2-3 wks of intense Ab exercise, I can see some progress and I my stomach is smaller now than when I was at 105/107 a few months ago.
By the way, a friend gave me a good idea for using sugar free/no fat pudding. Just mix a box (any flavor but white or regular choc is really good) of sf/ff pudding with 2 cups of plain nonfat yogurt, refrigerate over night if possible. It has the texture/taste of a cross between cheesecake and mousse. I also mixed a pkg of the sf/ff choc with 2 cups of ricotta and I loved it. It was almost like fudge. Best of all, it didn't cause cravings or cause me to gain! Speaking of cravings, I had been so hungry for several days. I decided to cut back drastically on the Splenda. I am now using sweet n low for my coffee and the cravings have disappeared. Have a great weekend everyone! Vickie |

Just a quick note, Steve just left and I am getting ready to go and get my daughter from her dad's...Steve and I had a great weekend, even though I was very moody and kind of bratty when he picked me up, he got us tickets for an off broadway theater show, and it was a very fun show, he knew that I needed a good break from work...we hung around my house this AM and then went and had lunch and ran a couple of errands...
I'm out of time but will post again tonight or tomorrow!! <hugs> Rachel |
