MONDAY on Mount Maintain (well, the lower slopes)
OK,
I'll bite and do a REAL post. We saw shows Saturday AND Sunday (I usually don't, but was feeling big-hearted.) Saturdays, called CRITICAL DARLING was slight but interesting about people having to hide their homosexuality in the 30's and yesterday's, called PENTECOST was a diatribe about religion and races and art and hostages and shoot-ups with about 20 people on stage speaking different languages...all this woven around the concept of finding a rare Giotto in a 13th century church in what was once Yugoslvia... YOI, some people's ambition far exceeds their ability, or at least the AUDIENCE'S PATIENCE! I was happy to get out of there. Just got back from BJ's and Shop-Rite (next to one another.) I went early to beat the crowds and I did, but as I was finishing the hoardes started descending. Everyone is preparing for this Nor'easter which is due to start here about NOON. If I'm in for the next two days, I'm fine with that...a nice, already roasted 6 pound roaster from BJ's and 4,000 pounds of food in the freezer will keep starvation away. Yesterday I did computer maintenance. I moved the monitor from RIGHT to LEFT as I do 4 times a year to ease any neck problems (I learned the hard way.) Of course that entails destrangulating the 16,000 wires that thread from the 'puter. While at it I got the puter up and open...OY such dirt and fuzz. I pulled out my mom's old 1947 Electrolux that looks like a Lionel train and works BEAUTIFULLY...suck on one end, reverse the hose and it blows (no dirty talk.) Ok, so I sucked up everything I could see and then switched to BLOW to get any tiny stuff in crevices. Well, there are LOTS of crevices and a cloud of fallout went up and descended on EVERYTHING. I'll be dusting and sneezing for a few days but the Dell is clean as a whistle, the desk is clean and I've already gotten used to loooking left instead of right!Neighbor moved in downstairs....WHEEE, a warm floor! Weight is up to 219# with my experimental wine drink, a 2 week freeze on the gym, and back to my HCTZ (thiazide BP med.) I'm going to have to grab hold of this fast, lest it gets out of hand. Gym begins again on Wednesday.

Just checking in. Not much going on here. Pacific Northwest has returned to it's dreary drizzly rain! I guess I really hadn't missed it. BUT guess it's better than what you guy's are going through in the east. Batten down the hatches and get the fireplaces going if you have one.
Nothing planned for today. Am going to get dressed, get on the ole treadmill and then read!!!!!!!!!!! Now, isn't that exciting? For me, it's heaven. Still no car.....maybe tomorrow! and $1500 poorer.... ![]() edited to say, without obsessing, I lost a lb. over the weekend!! Thanks Linda!!

HI Zip and Julie
Sorry about that 219 Zip but when you get back to the gym that will help a lot. I usually have a glass of wine every evening with dinner. Too bad about the boring play. Can't you just leave? Julie what part had to be fixed in that car? My son had to pay over 300 for a rear main seal leaking oil. They have a Honda. You day sounds divine and similar to mine. I am going to forego my walk because of the crud and it is nasty out there. Will pedal my bike and crochet some more. Will read and ride. I sure am feeling better after retiring early last night and sweating out a fever. Have a cough developing but at least the chills are gone. Later and hi to the rest of our MVMs on the lower slopes today. Hope that snow storm is not as bad as predicted folks. Barb waiting for your HUT report. Later, Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 02-28-2005 at 11:28 AM. |

Loretta,
Feel Better...it sounds like a cold coming on. After Act ONE I asked Bob to go, he said the usher told him Act 2 was only 1/2 hour, I demurred...it was 90 minutes in reality and we were in at the end of an aisle. Always hate to climb over 10 people with coats and bags while people are performing onstage...we sometimes get STUCK! Snow has started...teeeny flakes- the worst kind. |

HUT, HUT -- I'm still alive and kicking (but very slowly). We had an AWESOME time and the weather was just great -- snow squalls and sunshine (that's when you figure out where the heck you are!). Almost had to use a cell phone to get out because the "guys" always know directions and we thought we were lost. Of course, my geologist friend recognized a few rocks and favorite trees and we were going around in circles.
The hut was just around the corner -- Now before you think we are really just great -- we did more fooling around than shoeing and skiing!! You pay $30 per day for the food, supplies and use of the hut (which is like a big igloo with heat and bunks beds). We had the same hut for two days so we just fooled around in the area and slept in the same hut till Sunday and then went out to the end of the trail. Then we drove into town to the Hot Springs and took care of those aching muscles. Next year I need to get into better shape so I can move my legs and bend over easily. Now I'm aching from undoing those shoes and strapping them on again -- how did the pioneers do that? Zip, I'm still laughing over the review of those plays -- I LOVE the part about people's ambition far exceeding their ability and other's PATIENCE!! Still looking for a house? You want to stay back East? Julie, I need to go back and read about your weight loss plans - sorry I didn't get caught up yet. $1500 is a lot of bus tokens also!! LOL I have 48,000 on ,my Honda and NO repair!! Loretta, getting another cold? I think everyone is sick here at work -- I still tell them I'm staying away from the "sickies" -- that way I don't have to talk to anyone!! You need a lot more rest and liquids!! Linda, bracing for another storm? Is the last "big" one for the NE? Other than driving, it sounds appealing to have a wood stove and a few good books and hibernate!! Ginny, Shawnee, Jackie , SuSUN -- later Barb

Ok all of you medical experts --
what's the medical aspect of this meat/eggs fast for three days or even longer? I've been reading about it on the main board and also on Golden B. Is this safe to do? Some say they crash, others are having a no carb high, etc. How long can one go without carbs? The Protein Challenges -- do they go without carbs for long periods of time? Hi everybody,
Boy the storm started late, 4:30, so I did manage to get out and do a few things early. Got home and decided to clean my laundry room cabinets. Ended up painting the inside of them cause 409 didn't do much. Gerard made some parm chicken thighs and I put together a meat loaf just in case the power goes out. At least we will have something to eat. I don't relish the thought of making coffee on the BBQ grill though. Roger, bummer on the play. Can't you get seats on the aisle in case that happens again? Those old electrolux cleaners are something, eh? My mom still has hers and loves it. I remember putting a huge green bag thingy on the blower end when I was a kid and "blow drying" my hair. Julie, LOL I thought you were going to stay off that scale too. Just relax for a month or two about the weight. You will do just fine.So what are you reading? I'm really getting back into it after a few years of not reading much. OUCH on the big bucks to repair that lemon. Get a Honda or Toyota next time. They last forever. Loretta, Geezzz where did that cold come from? Feel better soon. So what's the word on your siding? Are you going to have it done soon? Barb, Do those huts provide bed linens or do you have to bring your own? Saw some in Montana that were full of "mouse crap" YUCK! Give me a motel with a hot shower and TV anytime. I lost my adventurous ways years ago. Those crazy fads drive me nuts!! Egg/meat diet SHeesh!! What do they hope to accomplish? If they just stuck to the plan and stopped indulging in high carb crap, they would do fine. Waving to Shawnee, Susan, Jackie and lurkers. |

Linda, I don't think I can ever stay OFF the scale. it's been a life long thing of mine but I'm not writing down any of it and just eating what I know is the right foods.
Chuck is a FORD GUY!!! Can't fight that! I've been reading Lisa Gardner. Right now it's THE SURVIVORS CLUB. I love thrillers/serial killer books. I find an author and read all their books. At least thats how it's been going. I go online and put a hold on them from the library. I also have a ton of used paper backs in my closet. About 50 of them if I run out!!! |

Hi Y'all
Julie and I are headed for the East Coast to that SNOW...gotta pick up the experienced Snow Queen Barb on the way ![]() We got about 7 drops of rain today...well, ok, maybe a real though inadequate sprinkle. Loretta, sure hoping you have nipped that bug in the bud (nothin' like mixing metaphors) and are feeling better. How's lil Leah doing? Is she ripping steak with those new molars? ![]() Barb, even with those added Hut conveniences, I'm still mucho impressed with y'alls physical prowess. Especially like the idea of the Hot Springs awaitin' at the end of the experience. SuSUN, I played SuSUN today and shuffled / sorted papers...getting Tax info together, couldn't find a couple Property Tax statements...Grr, my own fault, I'd misfiled them. That led to hours of file purging...with Bob manning the cross-cut shredder. Thought I'd gotten it caught up last year, but stuff from the 90's was popping up...guess I wasn't very thorough....(or had quit before I should have) ![]() Hope your DH is feeling better. Julie Chuck is a FORD GUY!!! Can't fight that! Bob is a Chev-GM Guy, and that's fine with me ![]() The Meat/Egg thingy is supposed to last for 3 days, THEN slowly ease into Induction levels with salad, etc...(I think). For those who like it, its a quick route to ketosis. I am not into suffering. Montana, y'all got it right: Be prepared! Ya made me remember the ol' hair dryer/vac thing. ![]() Then we moved on to the lil dryer in a round suitcase...Daisy brand?? ..when, early 60's? Those were the days. Zip, you and Bob should go back to writing Play Reviews...at least get something out of the crud ones. Awwww, you're gonna have warm tooties again. Ginny, will this new weather rage affect y'all? Heard it ran from Georgia to Maine. Hugs to the FurKids, hope Bub is enjoying his retirement. To ALL, stay warm and safe. ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 02-28-2005 at 10:04 PM. |
