SATURDAY FOR THE MAGNIFICENT MAINTAINERS
Another weekend upoin us, Good Morning one and all.
Linda, Thanks for the mailings. I will browse them as soon as I finish here (and dig DEEP during Mondays snowstorm ). The 150 by 50 lot makes eminent sense and is certainly enough for a nice large garden and minimal lawn (the minimaler the betterer ). Tracters and snowblowers...I thought everybody 10 miles outside of New York used oxen and horses??? Do you have to put out strong fencing to keep out the Wildebeast and Zebra?Shawnee, Lord, Wildfires ALREADY...what happened to the 72 consecutive days of rain that you got in the Fall? Theater with friends for us both tonight and tomorrow afternoon...Tonight a good Chinese restaurant in the theater district, tomorrow, probably we'll brave a KOREAN joint for some powerfully hot stuff. Feeling a lot better after a tough depressing week. I WILL say that I DO love my dear friends, the Diazepam siblings, both the little girl called 5 mg. and her older big brother 10 mg. He's nicer to sleep with but then I'm prejudiced. Usually 4 or 5 days with these kids and I'm almost good as new. Saturday routine usually begins with a stroll to the A&P since their sale begins today (Sunday for SR)...That route includes STAPLES. MODELL'S and TARGET...Thrilling eh? Bagel/Lox/Cream Cheese and Vidalia for brekkie soon.Julie, I think I gotta get the old notepad out too for dailing recordings to get back on track...too much 75% OFF Valentine's Day Candy...who can't say no to a $1.25 box of Russell Stover's (or 6 of them.) And I won't even mention someting called DOVE DARK CHOCOLATE HEARTS...you haven't LIVED! Ginny, Are you mending? Susun, Aren't there any estrogen blockers out there that will treat you better than progesterone? Forgive my ignorance, but if you are still having periods, don't you produce progesterone when it's time and estrogen as needed? Or is the P supplement needed as an adjunct to HRT therapy? Later gang...nice weekend to all.

Morning, off to Seattle today to meet a couple gals from the GY bb.
Roger, So how much snow did you get? Nope, I decided not to obssess about my weight anymore. No keeping track of my foods. Linda was right, enjoy life and I do know what I should eat and what I shouldn't. BTW Linda, I never said I would ever do Induction!! I was saying I would never be able to ever get that low on carbs. Roger, sure hope those V candies are all gone now. I hear ya and I got into some too. Mine was given to me, not buying the 1/2 price stuff. It is temping though but I did resist that. Funny, how you tell yourself chocolate is good for us!! Shawnee and I are trying hard to get threw these horrible sunny days! Actually here has been foggy the last 2 days. Suppose to burn off this afternoon but rain is forcast for Monday again and we do need it bad. Never thought I'd admit that!Best get dressed and out the door to catch the ferry...later.

HI to you all
Zip have you ever owned you own home before? Just curious. There is a lot to the upkeep. But then again you seem to quite well at your apartment. Just put an inground pool in that back yard and that will chew up a bunch of space, no mowing. Julie have fun with those Goldens today. Hope you have your camera in your purse. Linda I sure did not think that Sears would be that much off with their quote for siding. I could see 1 or 2 thousand more than the local fellow. One of the salesmen that came from another company was argumentative with Dh and never even showed us his product. Said instead of replacing rotten wood they would just patch over it. We will go with the first guy that came out. He will be back on Monday to finalized. DH wants a "bright yellow". The accent colors will be white shutters and window trim, with a brick red door. Not definite yet on those colors. You see so MANY beige and cream colors. Not much on the schedule for this weekend, just a baby shower on Sunday. I will hate having that cake staring at me. I have already made up my mind about the NO. Back later Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 02-26-2005 at 11:00 AM. |

Good Saturday Gang of MM's!
Feeling "normal" today, don't know what yesterday morning was about! I think a few good belly laughs with some furbabies does the trick. I babysat from 3p.m. till 10p.m. last night and Ella is such a good girl, so content, happy and smiling all the time! She know has two teeth. I have started taking a bunch of papers with me and I sort them as she plays. I am really feeling I am making some headway with the junk that I have collected over the years. Thank you for all your tips and suggestion re: the nasty progesterone. I think my Gyne is hoping I will go thru the big "M" soon, so 4 months of this should decrease the lining build up and so lessen the "loss," I am still taking the palafer (iron supplement) as I get so tired at times, I am literally drained! ![]() DH is all set for his chrio appt next Thursday! Yes, hope is a great placebo and mood lifter! Roger, I am sure you will make your home a veritable cozy nest! LOL and keeping the wildebeast and zebra out! Glad to hear those siblings are helping you out of that black hole! Is it only 3 weeks to Spring! The Tamoxifen was to work as an estrogen blocker but the s/e of that were just a tough. The Gyne wants me to try the prog. first and not take them both at once. ME TOO!!!! I am not on HRT yet! Drooling all over my keyboard, enjoy the lox with that sweet onion! Enjoy the Korean joint tomorrow! Anything "NUCLEAR" on the menu? It should be a blast for you both! Julie, Thanks for the feedback on the prog. Yikes, I guess I am in for a roller coaster ride! It decreases the effects of the estrogen, so less lining, so less monthly. That, I am glad off, so we'll see, at 56 the big M should happen soon! Good for Chuck that he can fix the tranny himself, saves all those labour charges. Loretta, The dosage was 200mg for 2 months, or 100mg for 4 months, I opted for the latter to give my body a chance to adjust. You know how this endocrine stuff works, adjust one hormone which affects 3 others, then in turn they affect 3 others and then you have this cascade of hormones doing somersaults. I have only experienced that bad morning yesterday. YIKES! that's a lota siding! $18,000, you should re check with them that they didn't calculate the whole street! LOL! Linda, That is great news on Larry! Yes, I had initially asked for the ablation, they always go for the less invasive stuff first...you know how they are! Hopefully this will all be over soon and wont have to think about it. Ginny, Hope you are curled up somewhere warm and cozy! Shawnee, Those PUP pics sure melt away the blues and lift anyone's spirits. Those little smiles and chuckles that sneak into our day are what keep the endorphins up eh? Thank you.WOW! on those temps and wildfires! I am so glad ya got ya "Gal" fix! Barb. Hope ya send the guys on to the huts ahead you Gals! Better get on with my Saturday chores, the sun is shinning albeit quite cool out there! SuSUN ![]() |

Susan,
Naughty to you...you aren't keeping up with the U.S. News...that's NU CU LAR. I hope that's perfectly Clear (pronounced CULER. )I'm GOOD with a house and can rewire it, drywall it, roof it, install windows, plumb it...probably install a self designed solar power plant, NU-QUEUE- LAR even, if it came down to it. Never a pool for me...I remember in a law class about "attractive nuisances"...have a neighbor drown in it and you;re dead meat. Julie, Good luck on whatever you're method for handling food. I DO know that with NO method we're dead in the water...there's just too much good stuff around! Loretta, I'm thinking Lemon Yellow siding, a red roof and purple trim...visitors will be able to find the house easily—even from another PLANET! (Ten points for anyone who knows what the dash between "easily" and "even" is called ![]() Last edited by zip2play : 02-26-2005 at 11:34 AM. |

Hi Y'all
Checking in from the lovely Pacific NW Next week, after day 5 of Rain, I'll be whining about the weather. So far, our wildfires have been small (several acres), homes threatened but none lost to my knowledge. Montana, the news report said parts of MT and ID had only 25% normal snowpack! SuSUN, Ella must be a contented baby, if you can sort papers while watching her. Glad you are feeling better. Loretta, hope you and DH can compromise on the color scheme, and both be happy with it. ...and you get good results at a fair price with the siding. Zip...with your back flareups, etc...well, I'll just say from experience: I'm wishing my land was a small lot, at my present age and a few physical drawbacks. At 40, it was a cinch to beat into submission; at 60, its too damn much work. My Bob still doesn't "get it" that this ol grey mare ain't what she used to be. About Maintaining: I think all of us have to find out personally what works for the long haul. There's so many other good things in my life to donate time to, so my WOE had to become "second-nature" and (usually) easy. Balancing my HypoT and allergy food restrictions, plus Bob's high carb crap isn't always easy, but its doable. I refuse to feel like I "can't have" something, so I try to LC it. BTW, it just pi$$es me off that his last 2 BS numbers were so great (for him-a beer drinker): 111, then 91....I have to work to keep mine at mid-80's. Anyhoo, I take credit for his good ones, as I try to create LC versions of his fav hicarb crap. ![]() Foods are either good or bad for me, with a few exceptions thrown in to the mix. ![]() Hey to everyone following. Gotta get out in this sunshine. ShawneeBTW, I think that (—) is a double-hyphen, aka double-dash, aka m-dash. Last edited by shawneesioux : 02-26-2005 at 02:13 PM. |

Roger,
You are so right, that I am naughty...WE folks with an accent have problems pronoucing those kind a words! NU CU LER....what's wrong with that? Sounds like you would make a great home owner and gardener. You won't need to go to the gym daily. You will use up all that excess energy aorund the house! Shawnee, What are BS numbers? Sounds like Bob's golf score to me! ![]() I get my TG's done next week with the ole annual physical. Loretta, Gotta get back to do some more lil chores, loving my free time! SuSUN |

LOL...NU-QUEUE- LAR, Zip and SuSUN:
Let's pronounce it however we want to...after all, if another version is good enough for the President of the good ol US of A ... ![]() ....one of the First Family daughters was discussing Sioux City at a press conference. She pronounced it Si-OX !..... (The First Lady did a fantstic of covering her inital *cringe*...but then, she's had practice....) SuSUN, the BS is Bob's initials ![]() But I really meant fasting Blood Sugar (glucose) numbers. (Our DSon is the Golfer; Bob calls it "playing pasture pool.") OK, as I was reading Editorials re Creation/Evolution in the Portland Oregonian, I ran across "falsifiability"..(a self-explanatory word)...love to store up these oft-unused words, and sprinkle them in certain conversations ![]() ...So said Editorials jogged the thought of a topic I've been meaning to ask y'all, re the Pope ( long-failing health, etc) I've heard / read that the ongoing business of the Vatican will still be well maintained, and basically the Catholics need the Pope as an Icon ...(?) Seriously, I'd like to know why he does not resign/retire, when its obvious his health prevents him preforming some of his "chores". (martyrdom?) I'm totally unfamiliar with the protocol on this...and I'd appreciate some expert input. Thanks ![]() Last edited by shawneesioux : 02-26-2005 at 05:15 PM. |

Hey all,
I'm back among the living once again. That cold knocked me on my arse for a few days, but the 'faucet' is off now and I'm feeling much better. I reckon 2 days of hell isn't too bad compared to DH's WEEK he had it.....but I could still have done without it at ALL! We had a gorgeous, sunny day here in the 60's today, so we got out and played. Went to a flea market we hadn't been to in ages, and found a couple orchid items for me. One is a plate with laelia purpurata blooms on it, the other a black vase with laelia blooms. The plate is quite old and in excellent shape. Once I have it cleaned up, it will reside in a stand in the hutch. Vase is pretty new, but matches another piece I have, so they're in the display case together. Felt great to be out in the sunshine, just having some fun! Linda, so glad Larry is healthy, released and homebound! I'm sure no one is more happy than he is tho. Sure hope you don't get another bad storm.... I do remember what winter was like up north, and am very glad to NOT deal with that anymore. Loretta, Yikes! on the $18k estimate from Sears! Sheesh, you'd think they'd want to GENERATE business, not drive it away! Our siding just costs us the materials since DH did all the work. It didn't really take him long, but it's an aggravating job, especially dealing with an older house where nothing is square (read as OUR HOUSE). Vinyl sure beats painting, so enjoy the finished product! Zip, I couldn't tolerate living in a city, don't know how you do it. If I didn't have my space, I'd go completely off whatever little rocker I have left. So, my opinion is buy a house with at least a medium sized yard! Room for some gardening, either edible or not, is mandatory for me and DH. I don't do much mowing unless I take claritin and we have about an acre to mow, so we do have a rider. It's very enjoyable to plan landscaping, hunt plants and get it all done so you can enjoy your efforts, even tho the work can be backbreaking at first ![]() Susan, how very different everyone's body clock is.... me having hot flashes etc at 39 and expecting the big M within a couple years, and you not going through it until mid 50's! Sure hope they don't try to put me on anything that could make me any MORE irritable! They'd just DIE at work! Poor DH would have to move to another state LOL! Peri-M sucks, but not much we can do about it Just get in the baby and puppy snuggles, and keep as even keel as you can.Julie, I agree with not counting too much. It can become a compulsion, and obsession only makes it worse. You know what foods are triggers for you, and you know what you can and can't eat, so just follow your individual plan and it will happen for you. Ouch on that transmission! A car with that few miles shouldn't be needing that kind of repairs yet. I agree with you on the mechanic's trying to buffalo ya, they certainly don't like to give a woman a straight answer! DH does most of that kind of work himself, but bigger projects he'll take to a shop and they BETTER shoot him straight and be able to prove it! He knows/has done too much mechanics to be snowed. Barb, hoping you're enjoying the trek! Shawnee, hope you get the right kind of rain to build the water tables back up! Still hoping for sneaux for your mountains, it can still happen! Nature does take care of it's own, even if she takes her sweet time about it. Those furbabies are absolutely adorable! Burke looks so sweet, I can just HUG him! How big will the General get? He looks like a little snuggler. While flea marketing I got to pet a variety of furbabies.... all were well behaved and very sweet. Maybe some day I'll get Nitro better on a leash and we can take him places like that. Sheyshey is too shy for those outings and Tyke is too vigilant , Bull is too lazy! Bub's holding his own and seems to be content if still a bit wobbly. I think he's as good as he'll get, so he's for sure retired now.Chatty me today, must have been storing it up Time for a nice little lurk and then maybe some tv time ![]()

Been running in and out trying to keep the wildebeests, zebras and a few elephants out of the yard. Sheesh!
![]() Sunny here today but cold. Looks like we are in for it Monday and Tuesday and the rest of the week too. Blizzard then more cold and snow. OY!!!Ginny, glad you are back among the living and feeling a bit better. Tell your DH NOT to give that crap to you for Valentine's day again. Sheesh! Julie, glad you had a good time in Seattle. So who was at the mini low carb gathering? Shawnee, got me on the Pope. I haven't been Catholic since I was 18 years old. Yeah, some of the NW states are in dyer straits snow pack wise. It's not going to be pretty this year. Susan, Hell!! I would just have a hysterectomy and be done with it. I absolutely HATE meds. Loretta, Sears is a big rip off company. Do you remember the big scandal when their auto repair service was found to be a big fraud? Roger, So you can do all of that, eh? You will LOVE Lowe's, Home Depot, Whipples, and a few other home improvement places we have around here, if you find something. If you want a fixer upper, there are lots of them in this neck of the woods. REALLY CHEAP. Just watch the neighborhoods. Hope you enjoyed the theater and dinner. Been finding some interesting things on this computer that I didn't know I had. LOL some music and backgrounds, for my OE e mail and other stuff. Back to exploring. |
