MVM THURSDAY
Good morning gang,
Ginny, So sorry to hear you're sick and the same for all the sick hubbies like Chuck and Susun's DH. I am going to hide from the viruses...a good cold would BURY me right now the way I feel. The OTHER viruses/worms: This year I've been infecteed 24 times this year and these are the ones that did it in order of frequency: Trojan.ByteVerify...15 times WSwen.A@mm......8 times (and 4 times this week) DownloaderTrojan MHTHML Redirect Exploit (once at New Years...fixed) You can get these thing just by going to a site so it's not all mail attachments by any means. Did anyone else get an e-mail for MICROSOFT about loading a Critical Update Package? MS doesn't need to use the mail, it can pop in whenever it wants so I've just been ignoring the suspisious mailing...it could be a bomb! Linda, On your last advice I scrapped that Endicott address. If it pops up I'll let you know. Thatks for the offer. Linda, Ginny, Julie, Susun, Shawnee, Loretta, Barb, and Jacki, stay well today. I think we have a little snow in the cards later. Off for a cuppa! edit: Here's a heads up on the virus that is currently spooking my computer, the Swen Worm: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...swen.a@mm.html I think I MAY have seen those fake dialog boxes from Microsoft. This page is DEFINITELY worth your time reading. I just hope I;m RID of the thing. (Notice how it attacks security and firewall FIRST.)

Hey all,
Medicated myself pretty well last night so I was able to get some SLEEP with only a couple clear-the-nose wakeups. I may still feel like a truck ran me over, but at least I'm awake! That's better than yesterday. Found my loratadine (only antihistamine I can function on) and started that today. It's a 24 hour pill, so I should be plenty able to breathe at work tonight. Worked last night amid the drippy nose with lots of runs into the office for kleenex. I just HATE colds!! Everyone at work has been sick, many with more flu like symptoms, glad I'm not going THERE!!! Linda, hoping for good news on your DB! He'll be so glad to go home! Zip, we're always really careful about where we go and what we open on the puter, our Norton is top-of-the-line, so we generally don't have trouble with virsus etc. Gotta be WATCHFUL!! Loretta, that new boat sure was a pretty thing, but if the one y'all have can be refurbished the way you want it for less $$$ I'd do that too! Bet the kids sure enjoyed the postal surprise! Y'all are too sweet! Shawnee, 70*? WOW! That's so nice to have this time of year! Definitely would want to spend that outside. Did you get the windows thrown open and fresh air in the house? Whenever we have the chance, we do. Susan, cool on that first tooth! Taking 6 months off during the warmer months would be wonderful! Hope you can figure a way to work it and still 'keep' your job! Julie, yikes on the tranny....sure hope it just needs a filter and fluid change. In many cases, that will clear up slipping, hard shifting etc. I know what you mean about the truck's gas mileage. We used to have a 91 F250 (sold last summer!) and it got 10 no matter if you were hauling or not. Too expensive for us to drive! Glad you enjoyed the time with the DGB's! Well, all, almost time for a shower and hope the steam clears up my head! At least for a little while. Maybe I can get DH to get lunch from the deli today so I don't have to cook! Work tonight will most likely be hectic......saving my energy!

Oh Linda, I forgot.
You posted yesterday: Quote:
Ginny, Me too; I'd be dead in the water without Norton's surveillance, both anti-virus and firewall. Anybody want to see what Norton has caught on your puter Open Norton and click on REPORTS on the Left; Then ACTIVITY LOG- View Report, and then VIRUS ALERTS...it might by EYE OPENING. (I haven't ever CHECKED what the Firewall has fielded...later perhaps!) Last edited by zip2play : 02-24-2005 at 09:52 AM. |

Hey gang.
Still waiting to hear from Larry so we don't know if he is on his way home or will need to stay there longer. Ginny, Sorry you are feeling so darn crappy. Does that antihistamine really help keep your head clear? I used to be on that but am now on Clarinex. It seems that everyone in this area has something so I'm staying really close to home. Roger, The person I talked to at the SS dept, told me that the original birth certificate is sent in and will be mailed back . Maybe I'll call again and see if another government wank tells me the same thing. The only things I pay attention to from Microsoft are the update notices that appear in the task bar...never e mails...., then I always go to control panel> updates and look for myself. So far so good. There are some really nice and very inexpensive homes in this area...if you don't mind the cultural void. :hyst Shawnee, 70's??? Holy Cow. I can just see the Chuckster pacing around waiting, waiting for that turkey to get done. The Inkster used to do that too.More later Last edited by LoveMontana : 02-24-2005 at 10:38 AM. |

Good morning from sunny Washington state!! I'm not quite as lucky as Shawnee, we are only going to get 60° today. YIPPIE!! I'll settle for anything above 40°.
Zip, I got an email awhile back from Microsoft telling me I needed an update. I quickly deleted that and sent my server a "missed-spam email. Never believe anything that comes like that. I have auto updates but still go to the control panel too and check it our myself. Ginny, hope you feel a whole lot better today. Those colds can sure be miserable. Then having to work too...poor thing you. Not good news on the tranny. They called last night and had to take the pan off and check it out. They still can't figure out what's wrong with it. Looks like it'll be awhile before we get it back and hoping it won't cost the estimated $1,600-2,000 to fix it. We only have 42,000 miles on the darn thing. No warranty after 36,000. Of course!! Thats what it was doing Ginny, slipping and making horrible noise shifting. Trying to go up a hill on Tuesday I'd push the accelerate and the engine would go but the car was like in neutral. Dam& cars!!!!!!!!!!!! It'll take a loan to be using that truck very long. 8 mph is horrible! Put on over 120 miles yesterday just running people around. Linda, hope you find out something else about the ss and the birth certificate. I can't imagine having to send in the original. Have you heard about Larry today? Maybe he's on his way home, we hope. Need to get off this puter and get some walking in. Got to take advantage of this sunny weather... ![]()

I applied for my SS on the phone per interview and did in fact mail in my birth certificate. Got it back also. The same for my sister.
I felt confident in doing it that way. It sure saved me the hastle of going down to the SS office which is about a 70 mile round trip. Shawnee 70 degrees. We had a day of that a while back and it felt just wonderul. We are back to the 40s. We have several articles in today's paper about scammers using emails. One is a local bank that has changed hands and requesting peoples account and pin numbers thru email. Just scammers. One piece of advice that I follow is to turn off my dsl even though I leave the computer on. Some safety tips that were published a while back. I keep my Norton's up to date. Ginny glad that medication worked out for you. Those drippy noses sure can be a problem. Have you tried the nasal stips. DH sure likes them for opening up the passages without any rx. Zip I tried to look for "reports" on my Nortons on the left side but that word was not listed. It listed none since restart today under statistics. I have status and settings, outbreak alert, statistics, and subscription info. NO reports. Susun guess I misread your statement about the senior benefits. That would be great the have the summer off with Ella and DD. Congrats on that tooth for Ella. Leah is now starting to get her molars. She had her tubes put in this am and all went well and they were back home already. The doc said she really had a lot of fluid buildup. Linda I have not gotten emails from Microsoft either about updates. I do try to keep current with those updates. Glad my service pack was already installed. The old boat is about ready to be picked up. One more thing to do on it after some clarification. Maybe the weather will warm up some in day or so too. Julie what brand of auto is that? That is not a lot of miles for it to have that type of problem. Good to hear that your will be DGK free for a while, especially with those younger ones. Later folks |

Zip, I just looked at my Activity List in Norton and was shocked!!!!! OMG!! Some even said it was unable to repair or unable to access file. Did they quarentine these?
Loretta, we have a '01 Taurus. I agree we don't have that many miles on it. So mad!!!!!!!!! Did you send the birth cert to ss with registered mail? Anybody else here having problems with maintaining? Man, I just can't get out of this mode of "being just plain sick of eating this way?????" I know Linda doesn't have trouble but anybody else? I cannot stick to lc for very long, then try lcalorie and that doesn't work either. Oh it works, both plans, but I CAN'T STICK TO EITHER ONE. Please help me... ![]() |

I did find my internet security Activity List on the firewall section. Man that is a bunch of stuff that was listed.
Julie my kids have a Taurus and it has about 150,000 miles on it. They have not had many problems with it at all. No I did not use registered mail that I can remember. About the maintaining, maybe you just don't have the right foods. I never tire of what I am eating and seem to look forward to the nights when I can have my low carb favorites and fix DH some other foods. Maybe you just have not settled on the right foods yet. My last weigh in was 118 even though I have added a few more foods. Stay away from that ice cream. |

Loretta, not sure what you mean, right foods, I know WHAT to eat but just am sick of eating it. What I need is a new mindset! I maintained for 19 months and then I went off a little and just can't seem to stick to anything now. I can't even think what is the matter with me. I am doing good mentally and life is good! Maybe I need chaos??
![]() BTW I weighed 119.5 this morning but am truly struggling to keep it there. |

Julie, and Loretta, HI.
If Linda is right and even if I have to mail it AFTER going there in person, I will send it CERTIFIED...it's under $2 and you can get return receipt for it. If it's lost though, you're still up the poop shoot because the Post Office will say OOPS! Last edited by zip2play : 02-24-2005 at 03:38 PM. |

Aww Julie, The only way to really stick to anything is to really, really want it.
As you know, I don't really believe cholesterol has anything do do with heart disease, mainly because there are absolutely NO conclusive studies proving it AND the fact that just as many people with so called "normal" levels have just as many heart attacks as people with high cholesterol do..... BUT, to avoid the bullsh*t with doctors, low carb keeps my HDL way up and my triglycerides way down. I do believe eating that high carb crap is not at all good for us, especially for diabetics, and it really keeps the weight under control without leaving us hungry all of the time. As for calorie counting, ha!! Tried that and low fat for many, many years and was always just plain miserable and hungry all of the time. Who the HELL wants to live like that? Psst...get a Toyota, Honda or Subaru. They are the highest rated, mechanically reliable vehicles available. Loretta, it's great to hear that Leah is home and doing so well. It is a very simple procedure and can be done in the office without anesthesia in older and more cooperative kids. Wow she is getting molars already? Nick has 4 teeth now. Two on top and two on the bottom and is cutting a few more. Haven't talked to his parents since he saw the ENT on Tuesday to see about his PE tubes. Larry called his boys and is about two hrs from home right now and in the middle of that snow storm. Hope they don't slide off the interstate. Hope Ginny is feeling better today. Poor girl. Shawnee, Susan, Barb...what's going on with you? edited to add, oops. I didn't get to call SS again today but will as soon as I can. I have no problem sending my birth certificate in since I had to do it for my passport and got it right back. Plus I have a certified copy just in case. Linda, I'm working on my stinking thinking today. Trying to figure out WHY I'm eating. I have a few idea's on why. I just want to quit struggling so hard. I know it's not the hunger but something else.
I totally agree with the cholesterol. Did I say something to make you think otherwise? I know low calorie and low fat don't work!! I was on low/no fat for years and didn't lose a lb. I starved on low calorie. So I'm back on LC but adding too many whole grains I guess. I have been eating an apple a day as I love them and really missed them. I have to cut back somewhere and not sure what I want to give up. I'll do some hard meditating on this and come up with a plan. I'm really want to get this under control again. For so long I was doing great but maybe the underlining stress has me "stuffing emotions." Nick has had a few anxiety attacks lately and I'm worried about him. He did talk to the counslor last night and he seems better today. Nick say's it's not uncommon for this to happen in recovery. Don't want him backsliding but it's really up to him. His gf is a having troubles and I wonder if thats eating at him. Ok, off to evaluate myself and come up with a solution. Thanks for listening to me ramble. |

Been busy and didn't even get to the computer yesterday....
a Honda -- that's the way to go!! n ot much for repaire and we get high milage alsoJulie, what are you eating? Are you just lc or low fat? I don't have any problem with LC -- just if I get some sugar in my system, I go haywire -- I think that's "Barbwire" I don't increase my carbs much and stick to the lowest level.Sick Ginny? That's what's happening here also -- everyone is coughing, sneezing, etc. I turn into a hermit at these times -- but I did have my turn! We have signs in our bathrooms to use papertowels when using the doorknobs!! Take care and stay healthy!! We leave tomorrow pm for our "hut" experience! Lots of new snow so it should be good snowshoeing and skiing. I'll be too frozen for any germs to get to me!! I agree with you Linda on the calorie counting and cholestorol -- my levels are the best they have been and am toooooo hungry without some fat!! Take care all........ Barb

Julie by the "right" foods I meant foods that you enjoy eating that are lc. I have been eating 1/2 an apple a day for quite a while. Recently added a banana a few times a week (x2) without any problem. Why don't you post on the menu thread for a few days?
Sorry that Nick is having some problems. Just being a teen ager can be a problem at times. I'm happy to be "old". Barb be careful on that hut to hut. Watch out for what's in those huts. Stay warm and bundle up. Don't get any blisters on those tootsies. |
