Good morning Julie and all who follow.
I'm running off to do a few things before the SNOW hits. GOD I'm sick of this weather.I think I'll throw a pot roast and an onion in an oven bag for quick cooking and very little fuss, before I leave. Roger, hope you are feeling better today. ((((hugs))) More later. |

Hi Y'all
Another nice day here, still sunny with a bit'o'nip in the air. Got more Glutes exercise yesterday, weeding and pruning. ![]() Damn, has overpopulation tipped the world on its axis, creating these unusual weather conditions? Calif is slip-sliding away with waaaay too much rain, while our Pacific NW is dry as a bone. Had two wildfires near Vancouver WA...firefighters saying we are already in "July-Aug fire conditions." Territorial is the definitive term for hunters, fishermen... (so Bob says, as he lifts his leg to mark a bush with his scent...) ![]() Yum, Potroast...especially the leftovers..(please throw in a parsnip for me) To all our MVMs, have a great day. Shawnee |

Feeling 2% better today after a walk in a rather warm, bright Sun. Thanks for asking guys!
Shawnee, You want to talk chaos...the EARTHQUAKES of the last several days have been super scary...and seemingly connected! SALE: 8 ounce bags of ShopRite shredded cheeese...$1 a piece, no limit. Let's see, if I mix equal part of cheddar and dark chocolate I could be dead by Saturday...just kidding Linda, How's Endicott for living...any sections that are "beyond the pale?" Bob working, Roger discovering the joy of wine...a mistake. I CANNOT drink 2 glasses of wine a day...and it's the ONLY thing that gives me tolerable HDL numbers. Oh well, I'm doing better than Sandra Dee! ![]() Oh I'm going to the SS office tomorrow to sign up. I'd have LOVED to do it online but I don't trust the mail with my birth certificate. I'll need it for my bus and rail pass for NJ Transit. The younger seniors get to ride half price off prime hours, the REAL seniors at any time. A REALLY good deal...round trip to Philly is around $10. The spiderweb of a train system goes almost everywhere in NJ...probably unlike any state in the union..The few corners where the trains aren't the buses ARE! Hey kids, Run your antivirus daily...I'm getting 3 or 4 a week. BAD worms. It seems the demented are shaking their cages lately! I run my Norton every night during my favorite TV program. Make sure your mail is screened BEFORE it arrives.

Happy Tuesday to all
Well it is going to be happy for DH's children in a day or so when their mail arrives. Since he has decided to keep his old boat, just getting things up to snuff on it, we have mailed them each (6 of them) a check for $100. He is a generous daddy. He wrote them each a note and we got them mailed off today. That felt good. His boat should be ready by the 1st of March but will call first. Zip that's a whole lot of shaking going on. Our area gets freqent small earth quakes. I don't even notice most of them. We are near a fault line that is in Mo. Glad to hear that your Spirits are on the upswing. Do you have to show your original birth certificate to get a senior pass for the transit system? That does seem a bit much. There are lots of advantages to being a senior. Go for all of them. My fishing license will only cost $5 this year. They used to be free to seniors. Shawnee our ground is just too wet to even walk on out there. NO real signs of spring yet except for the daffodils. Lots of them. In Ca the house are falling because of the mud and in Iran most of the houses are made out of mud. (heard that on the radio today). Take some wine or other pain relievers for those glutes. My day is coming soon I hope for some yard soreness. Linda that pot roast does sound wonderful. I have been fixing mine according to a recipe from Bruce lately. It has turned out great every time. Another slow cook in the oven. Julie did you get to show off your bowling to Jana? Or did you two just shop. Is school on break there? Time to light the grill. Hi to the rest of our MVMs. |

Shawnee, Did throw a few parsnips in but ate them all because you didn't show up.
Ah well, maybe next time. Loretta, I'll run off to look at Bruce's recipe for next time but this was a spur of the moment "throw it in the oven" thing. Taking advantage of all the senior benefits is a great thing, isn't it? Roger, ENDICOTT Yeah there are some nice areas and homes there especially the eastern part called the Union District... out by Enjoy Golf course. They have municipal utility rates which are very low. Otherwise most of Endicott, except for the north side Italian neighborhood, is blighted just like the rest of this area. Too many drug and welfare imports from the City. Property prices are quite low but real estate, sales tax and income tax are some of the highest in the country. There is little in the way of public transportation, the airport is small and there is no train service at all. There is a Greyhound and Shortline bus station in Binghamton but you take your life in your hands going near that neighborhood. This area is also culturally deprived. If you want to move away from the City, think PA. Waving to the rest of the gang. Keep your feet on stable ground if you can. |

Hi Ya Gang!
Glad today's over! Long day!Linda, That pot roast did sound easy and delicious. DD put a large piece of beef in her slow cooker yesterday with an onion and a can of mushroom soup, her girlfriend gave her the recipe. It turned out wonderfu she said. Thank you for your advice re: cutting back my hours. Lately, I have been seriously contemplating taking 6 months off to have the summer months with DD and Ella poolside. I only work 2 and half days a week. I dont know what's wrong with me? I guess it's the other pieces in between now! Lil' Ella! Great news on Larry! Wishing him continued progress. Loretta, I gotta join ya on those senior benifits so I can take 6 months off. Your DH's children will be dancing for joy when they open their mail. DH has been with DS for the last two weeks. He saw DS's friend, who is a Chiropractor down there, and he took x-rays and worked on his spine. He says he has several problems with this spine from arthritis to scoliosis and poor neck posture, so no wonder some nerves are trapped. DH feels wonderful knowing that it something more mechanical. He has brought home the x-rays and his report for the Drs here! DH wants to start seeing a chiropractor here now, at least he feels back in control! He seems more uplifted and positive now.Roger, Hey 2% is better than the other way! WE have to remind each other to get out when the SUN is shinning! It sure does the trick.I am so excited at the thought of retiring for 6 months, gotta figure out the finances though. Any tips welcome, I know you have it down to a fine art! ![]() That earthquake is just awful again. I sent $100.00 last year when they had the big one. You feel so helpless over here. Julie, Glad to see you check in and start us off before going bowling! Shawnee, Good fer you gettin those gluts of steel goin! That crazy mixed-up expression from last week comes from Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum...."The time has come the Walrus said the speak of many things, of ships and sails and ceiling wax and cabbages and kings"...brainwashed with this stuff being raised in the UK system. So the time has come for me to take a break from the working world...and put it on hold! Sounds so good to put it in writing. Like declaring it, so cathartic! Ginny, Hope the shift is going well without incident and that you are well rested. I know that trip to the airport and the empty bed syndrome! It's good to have them back eh? Barb, Glad you are over that bug and back to normal up and at 'em agin! Waving to Jacki and lurkers! SuSUN ![]() |

Hi again
This afternoon was gorgeous...wish I could ship it to y'all, I feel badly for hogging it all. Before it slips my grey matter, here's something of interest for y'all plagued with asthma...maybe ya already knew...(?) Reading in a mag today bout limonene...found in Oil of Lemon, in orange peels, etc. Did a Search, and there's research info available on the web. Usually when we have citrus, I save the peels and stick them around the house for their fresh scent...now I will be really squeezing those peels to release the concentrated limonene. LOL, if it doesn't help, at least it smells damn good ![]() SuSUN, such good news re your DH...ANYTHING to make him feel better and be more upbeat. Thanks for the quote; guess I only remembered the "cabbages and kings" part. As to what's wrong with you...your priorities have undergone a major change...you're a Gramma now. ![]() Buns of steel???LOL... more like mush over muscle...classic pear shape, any extra clings to the glutes. ![]() Aw, Montana...bet those parsnips were delicious, sorry I wasn't there...and missed the pot roast too. LOL, "Keep your feet on stable ground if you can" is good advice, but hard to follow in Earthquake country...don't know when or where its gonna become UNstable. Guess it depends on what you're used to...I'd rather be here in Earthquake land, next to a live volcano, than in Tornado Alley. ![]() Yeah, Zip...clutch that Birth Certificate tightly...we mailed Bob's into the SS office right here in town,,,and damned if they didn't lose it! Finally located it in the clutter on a worker's desk. Glad you're gonna do the deed now and get some SS $$$ while there's still some available. Good for you, getting outside...four walls drives me batty. Loretta,...nice of your DH to do that! Hope he got big intrinsic reward "fuzzy" for it, and also hope the recepiants show their appreciation! Hope they do a good job on his boat...get your velvet ropes ready. Yup, you are due for your turn playing Farmer! Hope it happens soon. If we are lucky/unlucky...we'll get lots of rain in April...just in time to ruin all the new blooms, but I'll be glad to sacrifice them if necessary. Julie, how was the shopping trip? Hope y'all had a great time. Aren't ya glad we're not in Calif? Ginny, hope all the furKids are happy and settled down. I'm starting to miss my GPups, been over a week...I'm having withdrawals.. And could use some good shopping time with Kaci too... So many things get in the way of our fun.. like her job, her DH, other relatives and responsibilities...guess that's what makes our time together so precious. ![]() Barb, guess you are gearing up for your big outdoor adventure? Don't forget the brandy and high protein LC snacks. Hey to Jacki and our Fav Lurker. Shawnee |
