MV for Saturday

Hi gang,

Where is everybody this morning, sleeping in??? Hmm it's 9:40 here on the west coast.....

Dogsitting last night til late today and then DGKids will be here this morning til tomorrow...busy day.

Theater last night was a dud. Very boring! Dinner before hand was wonderful so that made up for it. 2 other couples and us have season tickets to our local community theater. Usually have good plays but not last night.

Looks like the DGKids are coming in the driveway now so will try and catch ya later....

Well hi Julie, too bad that the play was not more enjoyable, but glad that the meal was good. You will be busy with the grandkids. Enjoy them as much as you can. Will you take them to church with you?

I've been up since 6:30 or so.
Just busy with stuff. I am going to enjoy this weekend with no plans to go ANYWHERE. Last night we went to the fish fry at church but I don't think we will return. Just fried fish, hush puppies, french fries, coleslaw and white beans on the menu, oh and some bread and desserts. What a carb addicts delight!!!!
It would be nice if they had some baked fish. Just don't see that happening.

Shawnee that picture of Burke and the General is just beautiful. Looks like a prize winning picture to me. Just too cute.

Ginny glad to hear that Bub is stabelizing and able to adjust with a few minor problems. Ouch on that ring finger, ring and the bang with the propane tank. Good thing you finger was not hurt.
Sometimes rings can be dangerous in a work environment.

Golly Susun that's an 8 hour shift at Dd with Ella.
Lots of great bonding time though. Has she started to crawl yet?
Is she a good eater?

Barb hope that Dh of yours gets well fast and you stay free of the virus or what ever it is.

Hi to Linda, Zip Jackie (where are you?).

Back later
Loretta

Loretta,

Heck no!! Would take Madison the 5 year old but won't attempt the 18 month old. I can just imagine what that would be like. No, we'll go to separate masses this weekend. Not something we like to do. Are you going to church? You said you weren't going any where!!!

I agree on the pic Shawnee. It is a winner. So cute.

Another cam from our lovely Seattle. Just 12 miles away.

Good Saturday to MVM's!

I was up at 7:30a.m. this morning with a tickley cough! It sure got me to spring out of bed, cuz it sure was painful on the lower back just to cough. This sore stiff back is a real pain. Trying to remember to do the PTherapy exercises. I guess I dont do them often enough to prevent the morning stiffness.

Sure enough the cough settled down after the first cup of tea.
I think I have a touch of DD's virus that she caught on her trip to FLA. I have stepped up the VitC, Selenium and drinking lots of soothing fluids, mostly tea.

A complete day off to catch up to my paperwork. I tend to spread myself thin, so gotta delegate more stuff.

To clarify, the last pic that I sent was of DD and DS, not her DH.
They are fourteen months apart. They used to fight like cat and dog up to being in their 20's but they are very close now, just a few thousand miles between them.

Julie,
Enjoy the DGKids today!
What kind of pup were you sitting last night?
Lovely Cam but cloudy with lots of rain drops right now!

Loretta,
I love those kind of weekends where there is nothing to do. I do like to have something to do, but at my pace and what I want to do or need to finish, so then I can relax in the end.

Wavin to y'all till later!

Julie,

Did you mean OUR TOWN in yesterday's post? It's one of the most famous plays of modern times...but it bores me to death too..also DEADLY depressing.

I am in a blue funk with an edge of RAGE to it for 2 days now. Since I started back on the thiazides two days ago, I wonder if there's a connection.

NEXT DOOR neighbor is moving out as I type...Oh well, it's the up and down that are most important heatwise.
Phonecia has finally decided she can't conviince me to turn off the gas so she threw in the towel and is giving us a nice show.

Long story but I am TRYING to drink 2 glasses of wine a day- this is my third day...it's the only thing that keeps my HDL up.
Bought some cheap Carlo Rossi PAESANO (4 L.) The stuff is incredibly cheap but quite GOOD!
I poured it gently into several small bottles RIGHT TO THE TOP; that way there's no oxygen to spoil the wine.

Susun,
Coughing with a sore back is MURDER...just BREATHING is painful enough.

(Julie, saw your message about OUR TOWN.)

Loretta,
I guess the fried fish and the coleslaw was the way to go...but you've got to blind yourself to the greasy breading...I'm getting hungry, fried filets are one of my favorite comfort foods...maybe coated DARK CHOCOLATE.

A nice weekend to you all.

Finally!! It's been a laid back day with many pup snuggles. LOL Nag, nag, nag. Ya all wore me down. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can get to photobucket and bring them back here.

Gerard made a great chicken breast dish that was in Dana Carpenter's new cook book.
Chicken breasts pounded flat
softened cream cheese mixed with fresh chives and spread on the pounded breasts...maybe a tablespoon or two... rolled up with a strip of bacon wrapped around...held with a toothpick....bake. YUMMM

Julie, Lucky you. When I babysit it's usually for 3 at a time. I don't mind as long as it is at the parent's homes. Here is not exactly childproof but I do it on occasion. Once or twice I had both sets of the kids here and it went smoother than expected.

Sorry the play was so boring but at least you got out.

Nice web cam but YIKES on those gray skies.

Loretta, YUMMM on the hush puppies. I dearly loved them years ago and would hate to be tempted by them. Fried fish was another favorite of mine. LOL no wonder I was fat.

Glad you will have a nice relaxing weekend.

Susan, YIKES on the full 8 hr. shift babysitting. That's not something I would like at all.

Hope you aren't getting a virus. As Roger said, coughing with a sore back muscle is murder. Feel better soon.

Shawnee, Fantastic picture of Burk and the General. You should enter it in a contest or, at the very least, have it blown up and framed for personal use.

Years and years ago when I was in college, I did a paper on crossing the "Land Bridge" from Russia to what is now known as Alaska for my anthropology class. ( my favorite subject). NO Columbus wasn't the first.
Everyone recognizes that many people were in America long before Columbus. The Asiatic peoples who became Native Americans were certainly the first, tens of thousands of years ago. Also Norse expeditions to North America, starting with Bjarni Herjolfsson in 986, are well established historically.

Roger, depression and rage go hand in hand too often, unfortunately. Do you really think it's the thiazides ?

Carlo Rossi has some pretty good tasting wines even though they are so very inexpensive. Living Manor does too. From what I understand, one of the Rossi family girls married someone from another wine making family and started their own company. Their Chablis is one of my favorites.

Ginny, It's good to hear you had a better night. So are you really going to look for another job or try to tough it out?

Off to get those pictures of Dakota. BRB

WOW Linda just look at the smile on Dakota's face. That dog seems to be beaming. He must like it at your place.
That chicken sounds delicious. I have Dana's 500 Low Carb Recipes book. Which one do you have?

Julie church on Sat evening for us. That is our usual. We have taken Leah to church a few times and she was pretty good for us. An 18 month old might be an entirely different ball game.

Zip get that chocolate out of your head.

Just checking in to say I'm going to bed early with a cold! Now, I wonder how I got that!

I'll check tomorrow if I'm still breathing! Having asthma really knocks me out with a cold -- sore throats are the least of my problems. Lungs! Lungs!! Maybe a transplant would be nice!

You guys are such great babysitters and dogsitters!! I'll know who to call in the future. Dakota is a keeper!!

Julie,
Lovely pic on the CAM right now! The lights are coming on yet it is still light! Very Pretty!

Linda,
Awwwwh, playing with his babies, what a cutie Dakota is! Sending Kisses and to him. What a wonderful Grandpupma you are! I had Sassy for a week while DD was in Fla that's enough of that for a while for me.
Yeah, that chicken sounds delicious...and good to release some anger on the pounding part! LOL!

Barb,
Sorry to hear ya caught the cold from your DH! Ya gotta say no to all that kissing! I too have something going on not sure yet S & S are a bit of everything.

Roger,
Funny you should mention the blue funk. I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately and seem to be going down into the abyss agin! It could be we are missing the SUNlight right about now!

Ginny,
I sent off my first recipe!

Shawnee,
Waving at ya on the left coast!
I was reading some material on 1st Nations people, regarding diapers. The women would go out and gather moss and hand sew little bags and stuff them with the moss. They would also wash these as they became soiled. You probably already knew this stuff. I keep so much stuff for reading...nuf said.

SuSun, you're right, tonight Seattle looks gorgeous but this morning there was so many rain drops on it you couldn't see a thing!!

The dog we were sitting is another Bichon. Our friends little one and Bo's best friend!!! He's gone now and can hardly wait till tomorrow at this time. whew.........

Roger, yep, Our Town was the boring play!!!

Loretta, we always go to church Sat. at 5:00 too. You know me, I'm a night person and not a morning person. Hope these kids sleep in to at least 8:00. Do you think thats asking too much? Stayed up till 1:30 reading last night and probably will again tonight.

Barb, awww sweetie, hope you feel better in the morn. Yep, they sure do bring on the asthma. Linda and I can relate. I aways get it when I get sick too!!!

Linda, my gosh Dakata is just gorgeous and beautiful color too.
They always bring the kids to our house and little Logan gets into EVERYTHING! Inquisitive little guy. Nothing is sacred....TV off and on, VCR, stereo, car panic buttons going off. Maybe next time we'll go out to their house. They do have a computer and it would sure be easier.

That chicken sounds delish! Does the cheese melt out of it? Mine always has when I've made Cordon Blu.

Hi Y'all

First I'll mention Jacki...she and her DH are both chasing their tails, jobs plus more major remodeling. Cabinets, tile, etc.
HI Jacki...hope ya get to stop for a break now and then.
TEA soon? (I know ya lurk)...I have a few frozen Spice Muffins...

Here's BettyR's great recipe; I took Baker's License, of course
Totally Awesome Spice Cake Cupcakes

AWwwwww, Sorry so many of y'all have/are getting the dreaded Winter CRUD...boths the viruses and the depression.
Whatever I had, and still have the tail end of...sure sucked the sap out of me. I would have gone to the Dr, but he and most town docs have moved offices into the Hospital....the last place I wanna be germ-exposed to. So when the crud moved from sinuses to throat to lungs, I started using Mucinex expectorant. Think it helped me avoid a doc trip.

Sure hoping y'all get some SUNshine...even the cold sun is so uplifting.

Loretta, I'm having visions of you being busted for smuggling Baked Fish and LC Coleslaw into Church!

SuSUN and Montana, it does my heart good to know that y'all are into reading/researching our First People.
(heheee, mosses were the precursor of Kotex too)

Montana, that Dakota is such a handsome dude. Would love to flop on the floor and snuggle with him. Yeah, he's a definite Keeper! ( glad ya caved to peer pressure, and gave us some pics)
Hope your DD and BF are having a great time in FL. YUM on that Chicken recipe.

Kaci took a B&W roll of her Pups (she's into B&W)...brought the pics here. I wanted to copy/print a few for me...at that point, she whipped out the Pic CD, plugged it into my Puter., and I got ALL of them! Cool or what?!

SuSUN, hope you get more down time, more outside time. Visualize this: I have some Mini-daffodils blooming.
How's your DH doing?
Your DD and DS pic is precious; they look so radiant and happy.
WOW, only 14 months apart: you ARE and experienced Mum!

Ginny, glad you didn't hurt your hand OR lose your diamond!
Did ya get some play time in today?
So happy that the Bub got back good life quality, and is enjoying his Senior position.

Zip, Thanks for changing your Avatar. This new one speaks volumes of simplicity/complexity, and I like what I'm hearing.
Precious Phonecia, she's doing her damnest to cheer you up.
I so crave sunlight, I feel like I'm withering on the vine when stuck inside.
Speaking of withering, gotta curb my Spring planting insanity a bit, in case the dire drought predictions come true.

Julie, thanks for putting up that cam shot of the Needle. I used to get to Seattle a lot, and loved it, especially Seattle Center and The Market.
Bummer bout the Play, but it never lives up to its fame.
What was the wonderful dinner?

Poor Barb! Dammit, what a horroble waste of your weekend, being sick.
PLEASE see to it that you're breathing tomorrow. Feel better! You need a Pup for comfort.

Hey all,

I had a really nice day with my GF doing a girl's day out. We went to the larger town by us and did the required shopping needed as well as lurking around some other places and an EXCELLENT Chinese buffet. Felt good to get out and play a bit!

Linda, that Dakota pup is ADORABLE!!! Amazing how innocent they look when they are asleep, huh? Definitely keeper photos of the handsome feller. Enjoy your babysitting

Susan and Zip, maybe you both need more light treatments? This is a hard time of year up north, the winter drearies can really get you down. Maybe a trip to a tanning bed would help....

Julie, yikes on the babysitting! Our house is not child proofed either, so I know what you mean. I'm pretty picky about my stuff too, so a good thing no one asks me to babysit!

Loretta, don't blame you for not going back to the fish fry. With doing lc for so long, I've lost my taste for most breaded food, and I never cared for anything deepfried that wasn't crisp! Enjoy your weekend at home!

Jacki, check in between projects!

Barb, on you having that cold now. Please take care of yourself! There's a stomach crud going around work but so far it hasn't visited me. Hoping to keep it that way!

Shawnee, tell Kaci that she needs to frame that pic of Burke and the General. It's really a keeper! I love B&W photography too, had a blast with it years ago in high school. Cool that you have all the pics! We want continued updates on the new furbaby!

Well, all, off to lurk for a little while. To all, a contented weekend!

Ginny, glad you got out to play a bit. You surley deserve it. Chinese is wonderful!! I miss it.

Shawnee, I can't say as I blame you for staying away from those darn hospitals. BUT sometimes they are necessary. Just wear a mask and take some antibacterial hand gel. Don't let things go cause we can get really, really sick at our tender ages.

Come on over any time for some pup hugs and snuggles. My door is always open.

Julie, the cheese doesn't melt at all. It just kind of sits there.
Give it a try, it's so simple.

Love that web cam BTW.

Yeah it's nice to have our lives back after pup sitting. Can't wait to have Dakota back home. Maybe Monday when my son is back at Laurie's house. We shall see.

Susan, unwind and get some much needed rest girl. You need it.

Barb, don't fool around with that bug and asthma. Get your self to a walk in clinic or ER. That can be very dangerous. Been there, done that and asthmatic bronchitis is not fun. They were getting ready to put me on a vent.

Loretta, That's the same cook book we just got. So many great recipes in there.

Humm, Don't I wish!! Got this in my e mail by mistake but contacted the place. Seems the gal that reserved this place in Queensland has "almost" the same e mail addy as I do.
