Good morning all of you skinny people. Guess I'll get us started today.

My DD and her BF left for Fla. early this am to head to some NASCAR race, so I get to pup sit Dakota this weekend. My son will take care of him during the week.

I'm listening to our local radio talk show and they are talking about Mountain Lions in the area again.
Last fall there were numerous sightings reported, and today a NYS police officer took a picture of the critter in his yard and sent it in to the show.
No one can figure out why the DEC and Conservation center refuse to admit that those big cats are in the area.
RUMOR has it that they were imported to take care of the over abundant deer population.

Nuff for now. I need more coffee.

Hi Linda and those who follow...

Mountain Lions.....oh my! How do you protect yourself from one of those. Stand still, run, make yourself big and yell??? Jeez, watch your back!

The hot stone massage...how do I describe it? Well they heat up stones and rub it over your body!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are small, round and smooth. Supposedly it detoxifies you. She said today I'd feel a little sluggish but tomorrow will be feel great. We'll see...but never the less it felt wonderful and 90 minutes of pure pleasure.

I have been getting them regularly for a muscle cramping in my upper back. I am convinced it it from the this darn mouse but refuse to give up my computer time so have been using my left hand a lot lately. Yes, to who asked, senior moment.. I have been getting regular massages for about 4 months untill my HMO visits run out. But I'll continue them on my own but not as often. They are truly the best spent 60 minutes (usual time) ever!!

Off to have coffee with a long timefriend. Usual laundry...community theater tonight. OUT TOWN. Not sure about if it'll be good or not.

Have a good one everybody!

Hi y'all

Really foggy here this AM...or is that my brain? ...Naw, its outside the window.

Montana, perhaps you can get a new pic of Dakota and show him off?
Our area has an increased puma population too, and hunting them with hounds (which has been banned bout 10 years) is being reconsidered currently.
My opinion is those cats are instinctively relocating themselves towards a natural food source. Where they find abundant pickins, their numbers will increase. Their natural habitat is decreasing daily, due to mankind's push to populate former wilderness areas.
My brain is full of useless facts; in areas where coyotes are actively destroyed, the coyotes retaliate by having larger litters...Nature says that 2-4 pups are the usual average per litter, but when their existance is threatened, the numbers explode to 10-12. In Native lore, the Coyote is known as The Trickster, and he seems to live up to his reputation of outwitting manmade population control.
As you can see, I straddle the fence on wildlife protection vs human protection. In a perfect world, there would be room to coexist, but....

Be back later

Mornin' gang!

I have a sick DH at home today, so everyone except Roger KNOWS WHAT THAT MEANS!! LOL

We have done the Myths & Legends of Native Americans in Am. Lit. class. I like the one where the tickster (coyote) gets to have sex with all the females without the father knowing -- also the Small Pox story where it tricks "it" to wipe out a different tribe. Yes, animals can survive sometimes despite human interference.

Last night on CSI there was a sad story about big game hunters who drug animals for an easy kill. Sad We live in an area where outfitters get these "guys" from back East or Midwest a "guarantee" kill. Can you tell I'm NOT a hunter?

Boy Julie, that sounds so neat!! I keep promising myself a massage and need to just get off my butt and lay it down someplace.

Bears are more of a problem here. They increase the hunting season when overpopulation ocurrs. We have a field of elk not far from here (protected) and some idiot will try to get over the fence and capture a trophy.

Oh- Oh SOMEONE needs some soup!! LOL

Later, Barb

Oh, the HELL I don't , Barb. Though Bob almost never gets sick, when he does he MILKS it for all it's worth.

Linda, be very careful around those cats...when they GLARE like this, you're in BIG trouble.

But THIS can mean INSTANT DEATH:

Nowhere is safe; they can get you at the least expected times:

Nothing much doing...we had a long walk to a "bodega" section of town and some cheap veg and some tofu and lot's of $.99 store stuff.
We got the cutest tiny Brussel Sprouts for dinner with another pork roast.

Hey y'all,

Woohoo, its Friday!!! One more day left of the grind and then time to kick back.

For those who have tried that flat bread I was talking about earlier, try using it as a pizza crust! Did that today and it was really good even tho I let it bake a bit longer than i should have

Warmer here too, @ 50 degrees. We're supposed to see 60 tomorrow. Things are looking up!

All have a content day...

Hi again

What I love about this BB (among other things) is that we never know just where we will wind up, subject-wise....like one of Zip's zany, lovable illustrations...it might be in the crapper.
Great cat response, Zip. The Chuckster salutes you. (...after he nips your ankle, semi-gently)
HA!..if my Bob has a hangnail, he needs soup and a backrub and 24/7 maid service.

Ginny...yum, sounds good. If only I could find a way to *ZAP* the soy from that bread, I'd be first in the Pizza Chow Line.
Hope your night goes fast, and thoughts of emasculating your coworkers aren't necessary.
PupUpDate on the Bub?

Aw, Julie...Thanks for the Pet sites. Guess we all have our own opinions re pets, according to our own experiences. While some critters can be devious and self-serving, I believe that most are more honest and pure of heart than a lot of my relatives.
Thanks for the info on the hot stones, sounds great. Natives used to take wrapped, heated rocks and line them around their Elders who were suffering.

LOL, Barb...let's don't blame the Smallpox thing on the Trickster...unless he was impersonating a Gov.-appointed scum-sucking Federal Indian Agent. Just as the Gov. hired sharpshooters to eliminate Buffalo, hoping to starve out the Tribes, it also supplied the Agents with Smallpox-infected blankets to hand out on the Rezes...
OOPS !
I tend to get on my soapbox about Native revisionalist history /legends / myths

Hope y'all have a peaceful weekend.

Ginny,et al,

I'm not sure if it's low carb enough but last week I bought a frozen pizza on sale...about 19 ounces, called BLUE MOUNTAIN CARB CONCEPT. It was pretty good and was rated as
Per Serving: 1/4 pie (130g.)
Total Carbs: 21 grams
Dietary Fiber: 7 g.
Sugars: 3 g.

Net Carbs: 14.
Unlike most low carb $$$pricing$$$ it was between $2 and $3.

No soy.

Shawnee,
You mean Columbus DIDN'T discover America? (no smiley for that one!)

Finally getting here gang!

I did the afternoon shift at DD's today 2p.m. till 10p.m. That lil' en is getting to be a handful! A busy little madam, have to change what she's up to every 30 minutes!

I gave DD a much needed break so she could get her hair coloured, cut and blow dried. They went out for supper after her hair do and they were home for 10p.m. I am pleasantly bushed!

It seems Ginny's pizza was a big hit with (America) Colombus too!
More progress on Bub!

I only remember the Gov. agent's with the small-pox blankets Shawnee. We got that in history in the UK. This is the 1st time I heard of the Trickster - Coyote!

Roger Loved the pics of the felines even down the WC!

Barb, sorry to hear your DH is sick at home today. TLC is in order as Valentine's Day is creeping up on us!

Julie, Good for you with the hot stone massage. I have several massages to use up from Christmas yet. I am always stuck to find the time, although I do find them heavenly when I go.
Love the reminder to lift weights the FAT-Muscle pic was very effective encouragement.

Linda,
Yes, we need our fix of pup pics. A new one of Dakota is well due!
Stay away from those stray Cats!

Loretta,
Glad to see ya run thru today!

Off for some TV and then off to bed!

Hey all,

Had a pretty decent night at work, not too busy with plenty of time to piddle around and straighten our prep areas up. Only had one catastrophe....was carrying in a propane tank from outside and banged my wedding ring into the door just right, knocking a prong loose on the diamond. Ugh. Have to take it in tomorrow and get it fixed. Don't think I damaged the stone any, but my hand will certainly be missing it's adornment! The only time it comes off is when it's in for maintenance/repairs, and that doesn't happen often! I dug out another ring to wear in the mean time, but it doesn't feel the same

Thanks, y'all for asking, Bub is doing pretty well. He is staying stable, and I think he's gaining a little weight. He seemed to have lost some while we were gone (either that or I thought he was heavier!) but is showing good signs of filling back out. Last night he didn't make a peep, so I got an uninterruped night's sleep. We'll see what tonight brings! He is still on his meds, but it's keeping him pretty stable. I think we've gotten as much improvement as we can ask for, but he does get around well and seems to have found ways to compensate for his problems. The Old Man sure has a lot of heart to come as far as he has! Tyke has pretty much assumed the Alpha responsibilities, but Bub still holds the honorary title even though he's pretty well retired. Rest of the gang is doing very well.

Shawnee, that pic is PRICELESS! Sure hope the General appreciates how lucky he is to have Burke for his big brother!

Well, all, just about time for bed......hope y'all have a good night!

Roger, are you on the wrong day???

Yes, Our Town is the play. I don't care how famous it is, I didn't like it. But I'm not much of a connoisseur!!!
