MVMs Thursday

Good Morning Gang,

I have decided to take a mental health day today. It is much needed, chaos, entrophy is happening on the home front.
My schedule is too full for a part time job. I never learn to delegate.

Shawnee,
Lovely words of wisdom.
I tried to open your pics. I did not see a prompt to progress I just kept going to next. Is he the little white ball of fur? What a cutie!

Feelin a bit sick and guilty today.

I'll check back later.

Morning SuSUN and the rest to follow!

A mental health day is great!! We have four day work weeks second semester in this school district and I love them! Monday is much more pleasant when everyone has had a break and has had a chance to do something different. We all need to change our routine.

Shawnee -- how cute!! Just in time for Valentine's Day !!

Words of wisdom: good thoughts!

I believe that everyone should do what makes them happy. Did you all read the article in TIMES a couple of weeks ago about Happiness? Very interesting ideas about what makes people happy. With all of this talk on other boards here and on TV about anti-depressants, I wonder where these pills were decades ago. We just rec'd a new kid (10 yr. old) and on three meds. But then, we also see much more violence - younger!

Now that I FEEL that I've been prayed over "yesterday" -- I'll hop along to work.

Have a good Thursday (only one this week? ) Barb

Good morning Susun, Barb and everyone later,

Shawnee,
What an adorable Peak. The way he sidles up to a much larger dog shows his bravery and certainly nobody could ever say "General Tso's Chicken" (I couldn't resist!)

Susun,
Enjoy your free day, we all need one (OR SEVEN) a week.

Barb,
I read a similar article in TIME magazine last week about happiness...in fact that's where my Ingrid Bergman signature line came from.

Weather is 45 and light overnight rain is gone. It was just enough to dissolve the remains of the tonnage of salt dumped the last time we got 1/4 inch of snow!

Nothing planned today except the gym...I really need to work out the leg stiffness from those damn "....ductor" machines.
(new avatar is a Basquiat painting--ever feel like that sometimes?)

Retirement...I've always thought that too much emphasis was placed on money and material crap..while both are nice, CONTENTMENT in the golden years is worth a hell of a lot more....and I'm finding it doesn't cost much to appreciate the really worthwhile things in life.
I sure like your expressions of my feelings on life in general. That CONTENEMENT is worth more than anything material that I can imagine.
Hey that new little pup is just darling. Seems like both are bonding quite well.

Barb being retired is like getting a mental health day all week long. No stress unless is it self made. That 4 day work week sure must be grand. Do you have to work 10 hours on the 4 days?

Zip that new painting seems to be showing some tension in that artists life. Thanks for the view of it.

Linda I tried the round steak with the tomato sauce and Dh really liked it more than I did. He sure likes the Mock Cauliflower potato salad too. He needs to lose some weight, maybe I can keep him happy with all of this low carb food.

Take that mental health day and get your batteries recharged. Study up on how to delegate. I could use some of that strategy too.

Ginny hope you have a better work day today. Some are rough I remember those nights. But they sure make the time go by fast.
Cold weather on the way. I got the flatbread today and am trying to think of something to try it on. I am thinking tuna salad.
That is a huge piece of "bread"

Back later No boat yet.

Julie hope you get a chance to lite down somewhere today.

No "liting for me!" But thanks for hoping. Got to hit the library again and get the book on hold for me. Pick up Madison and take her from daycare to Pre K. Then today is the day I use my Xmas gift, a hot stone massage!!! That muscle in my back is still screaming and guess what? MY HMO has approved another 2 massages for me. Now, they aren't all bad!! Actually love my Dr. and have never had a bit of a problem with him sending out to specialists.

Loretta, quoting you, No stress unless is it self made Hmmm ya think? I found out the less I know the better. I'm not saying all my stress is gone but 98% is gone for now.
I loved you're quote on Retirement. How true!!

SuSun, glad you recognize the fact that you NEED a day to rest the mind. Take care!

Roger, not sure I like the new Avatar but maybe it'll grow on me.

Got to get dressed and get going. New resulution today. Before I turn on the computer, I MUST get my 30 min. on the treadmill first!! So hence even later today!!

Hey all,

Almost time to hit the grind.....hoping for a better day than yesterday. Definitely time to start some serious job hunting, will pick up a Sunday paper and see what jumps out at me. Also need to start looking on the 'net. It's a shame the co. I work for isn't any better since it is fairly close to home and I do like the work I do. Upper mgmt and some coworkers need an overhaul. Yanno, for as glad as they were to see me back from being off a week, you'd think they'd show a little appreciation! Grumble grumble rant rant.

Hope all are having a content day...have one for me too, huh?

Good evening kiddies,

Snow and cold here today but we went out just the same. The roads weren't too bad. We ended up at Lowe's and picked up a nice 7 cu. ft. Frigidaire Freezer...ON CLEARANCE It's sitting in the garage in it's new spot. We need to put a plug in that wall but in the mean time, we will run an extension cord to the nearest plug. Now to stock it full of good stuff. Beef, pork, bacon and butter are still on sale.

Susan, RETIRE or cut way back on those work hrs. It's NOT worth it.
Glad you are finding ITA and Orbitz sites helpful. Keep checking because airfares change constantly.

Barb, the pharmaceutical companies don't want any one well...Keep them thinking they are sick and we make money... They just push and push their poison for nothing but their financial benefit.
People just don't seem to have any coping skills anymore. What a shame. Some of those young kids need parental supervision and discipline, not a damned pill.

Roger, I do like that new avatar. It's intriguing.
Don't work too hard at that gym today.

Loretta, sorry you didn't like the round steak. Guess it's a matter of taste.

Julie, Glad much of your stress is gone. My father had a wonderful philosophy called F*uck it, developed after his stroke at age 49. I try to live by his words.

Ginny, sorry your job situation is pushing you out. What a darn shame. It was bad at the Psych center too, but I lived by my dad's wise words and didn't let it get to me...too much. LOL
Wishing you the best.

Waving to the rest of our gang.
Later.

I'd love to develope that attitude. Linda, were you a worrier and stressful in your previous life? Just wondering if you can change this defect personality disorder! I still find it hard when things build up even though I tell myself to f*uck them!!!!!!!

My hot stone massage was wonderful! It will detox me in a few days. If you've never had one or any massage, they are beyond words.

Ginny, sorry your work is making life hard for you. Linda said it isn't worth it and I agree. If you can find some other work, go gor it. Just remember, the grass always looks greener on the other side.

Yeah Julie, I was an aggressive ****** and worried about a few things in my younger days, but after I saw what happened to my dad, I just said NO MORE. It's not worth it.

WOW ! Julie, I like the picture of the fat and muscle! I must hang that up by my weight bench (you know, the one with clothes hanging on it). What a great reminder!

Ginny, Ginny, what's going on at work? It's a shame if you really like it!! Hang on..........

Linda, I was just thinking about telling you to get a freezer. We got a Kenmore when we got married and love it! There is soooooooo much to freeze. I stock up during the winter and clean it out every June and start over.

I WILL adopt your dad's motto!! There several other words also -- No ****!! No More! no and No and NO! Go ahead and clone me! My favorite: Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency for me.

Loretta, we don't have to work 10 hours at all -- just 8 every day. Next year we are planning 4 days all year long with some planning time and workshops on Friday. We vote next week and I hope it makes it. I love having a four day week from time to time and those three days off are "good for what ails you".

Julie, describe this hot stone thingy -- sounds a little rough! How often do you go for a massage? Your resolution about the treadmill before computer is my salvation also. If I get on the computer ----- nothing else happens for a while.

Zip, that avatar is great!! I want to blow it up and put it on my wall in the office so everyone can stare at it.

Right now I just hipmatize with those steel balls that swing back and forth and back and forth!!

Waving to all....... later

Barb

Hi Y'all

Another lovely day here, bright sun and 50's (sorry Montana)

But congrats on that new freezer, one of Life's better investments. I simply GLOAT over some of my bargains in ours.
Some of those young kids need parental supervision and discipline, not a damned pill.
Can I get an AMEN ! here, Sistah ?!?

SuSUN, sure hope you were able to drop that damn guilt you neither need nor deserve !....and enjoy your day. Sending major Blessings to both you and your DH.
(and Thanks for the Florida pics and funny E mails)

Ginny, it seems to be par for the course...work your tailfeathers off, and its never good enough. (..if you can accomplish THAT much, you should do even more ..is the thinking) My damn work ethnic always made me push myself too much, while the ones biding their time seemed to make out like bandits. Value yourself, and hopefully you will be able to move on, and smother the ingrates in your heel dust.

Got a short visit with my GPups today...the General and Burke developed an immediate, serious bond...and I'm just thrilled. Watching them interact brings mist to my happy eyes.

ZIP...yeah, good one! Tso ain't no chicken, he's waaaay more agressive in play than his "big bro" Burke the Pit.
Sorry, I appreciate most art...but that pic jangles the hell out of my nerves.

Julie, thanks for the not so gentle reminder of fat vs muscle...and I've been far too laid back this Winter, so I'm sure I have more of the former than the latter.
Good for you, getting that hot stone massage...tell us about it.

Loretta, isn't it SO nice when our "non" LCing Dhs like "our" foods??? Sometimes Bob is busy scarfing down a new recipe, and says " If this is LC, don't tell me!" LOL
Contentment beats the hell out of excitement, huh?
Ran into a younger gal I used to work with 20-ish years back (she's now 44) I proudly announced I'm 60 now! I loved watching her jaw drop ..."You are NOT!"
(little things mean a lot...)
Is your DH getting antsy for the new boat to arrive?

Barb, guess you've wrapped up your work week now, and are ready to enjoy the bennies of living in your beautiful area.
We are thrilled to be getting some snow in our mountains here; Life is good.

Hey Jacki, we're missin' ya Gal.

To ALL, be well and content.

Barb, you still have that Kenmore all these years Wow!! I'm impressed. I had a huge one when my kids were little but it died.

Yeah I know a few more words too, but not for this bb. LOL

Shawnee, You are so fortunate to have The General and Burk so near. Gotta just love those pups and their unconditional love.
Looking forward to Dakota's visit this weekend and hope he is on his best behavior for Gerard's sake.

I best get my butt to bed.

Rest well gang.

LOL, Montana...a Pup can be an angel, but always seem to "screw up" in front of the one person ya don't want them to.
Enjoy your time with him anyway...get in lots of hugs and pets. Its theraputic.

Hmmmmmmm....
Tax Refund check, 1975....off to Sears to purchase a huge upright freezer ( AVOCADO color)...its still humming along in the garage.

Leftover refund money took us to Reno...had fun, but THAT investment only lasted a week

Barb, this is a fantastic retort, thanks:

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency for me.
