ASH WEDNESDAY for the HOLY MVM

(After carefully checking for Barb's post, I think I'm first today.)

Good Morning...now WHO here had to be reminded that he or she is going to die? Gee, WHAT would we do without Christianity to remind us...OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Show last night got suddenly sold out and they Indian Gave on the freebie tickets! We'll try again tonight (have the tickets IN HAND) for a different show but it will be a race with the weather; the slop is due sometime this evening. I don't mind getting wet coming home, but this delicate flower ISN'T getting wet on the way to the theater <and dinner, natch>, or it's weeks of "Gesundheit!"

If you're in the mood for a teen giggle, HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE (just released on DVD) is quite funny...it's a spoof of the BILL and TED movies with lovable ethnic characters (Indian and Japanese.)
Here's the website: http://www.haroldandkumar.com/

Go get your ashes...smokers can save time and use a butt from the ashtray.

Yesterday I worked the leg ADDUCTOR and ABDUCTOR machines...OY, my ass is tight as a basketball this morning but I'm walking like a 90 year old DUCK!

Where the heck is everyone Roger?

LOL no we need not be constantly reminded of our impending deaths do we?

Anyhoo, You should have had Bob take a video of your 90 year old "Duck Walk". I would buy tickets to see that one.

Weather man was wrong again. Snow was supposed to start early this afternoon and now, at almost 7PM, it's still just raining. Maybe we won't get that 8" predicted.

Got more beef ribs in the oven but they won't be done until about 9, darn it. They were on sale, $2.28lb, today at our Giant market along with butter at $1.99 lb and Bacon $1.99lb. Darn it all, wish we had gotten that little freezer we saw at Lowe's. Maybe I can talk Gerard in to running down tomorrow to pick it up.

Dakota pup will spend the weekend here much to G's chagrin. He loves dogs but not those still in the puppy stage. I'm sure Dakota will be just fine though.

Off to catch up.

Hi Linda (echoey in this big empty room.)

ShopRite had butter for $1.99 but they were out...I haven't bought a pound in over a year but I need it for CERTAIN things...like a baked potato!

OK...21st Century man walking the dog for exercise:

No rain here yet...I decided to stay home tonight and I sent Bob on his way. I'm TIRED!

Where is everyone? If they went to church I hope they prayed for us.

Nice picture Roger!! Sadly, it's true.

We had a murder/suicide last night in our little town and was glued to the radio. Then I found out this morning it was someone I knew. Yes, it's over a woman. Having marital problems, a guy went and shot the lover and then went home, got his wife and three year old daughter, drove out to the boonies, and shot himself in front of them. Sad - what people will do to prove a point. He figures, she doesn't want me, I'll go , but also take him along so you can't have him either. The kids are the ones who suffer in this deal. The other daughter was in school, second grade.

Linda, do you already have a freezer? I don't know what I'd do without one.

Need to go lurk for a while!! Barb

Hello Holy Gang!

Let the Lenten games begin! No sugar, no flour, no chocolate, that's not much different from the rest of my year!

You guys certainly have great food sales! I guess that is why you are called the food basket of the world.

I am thinking more and more of the big "R" word not sure how I will handle missing the $$'s.

Roger,
Love the pin-up guy!
Sorry 'bout those boomerang tickets!
Yes, I'd love to see that 90 year old duck walk too!

Linda,
We have had a few sprinkles they are certainly welcome as they are washing away our sneux. We can actually see some patches of grass and pavement.
Enjoy the pup!

Barb,
Sorry to hear of those tragic deaths!
Hopefully that little one will not have any memory of what she saw.

Still tired from yesterday's onslaught.

Wavin to the rest of our Holy Gang!

Love the way that guy walks his dog Roger.

Oh hell, there is nothing wrong with butter, in moderation. It's margarine that's full of hydrogenated crap and will kill us.

I don't blame you a bit for staying in. This weather is nasty! We had several brown outs, but I don't have a clue what caused them. No lightening around.

Barb, Dear heaven!! Those poor kids. That jerk doesn't deserve any mourning. Selfish, rotten B@stard!

Yeah, let's hope those church goers pray for us heathens.

No we don't have a regular freezer, just two refrigerators with top freezers. I want to put a small freezer in the garage to use when meats and poultry go on sale or when the berry crop comes in.

Susan, go for it. RETIRE! You will get used to living on less money. Remember, we don't have all that much longer to live and may as well enjoy our last years doing what we want, within reason.

Where are Julie, Loretta and Shawnee? Hope everything is ok with them.

Hi Y'all

Boootyfoool day here, lotza sun and 50s. Stellar jays squawking and roses leafing out.

Retirement...I've always thought that too much emphasis was placed on money and material crap..while both are nice, CONTENTMENT in the golden years is worth a hell of a lot more....and I'm finding it doesn't cost much to appreciate the really worthwhile things in life.

Think about what ya want engraved on your tombstone:

"Geez, wish I'd spent more time at the office"

Some thoughts:

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."

-Herman Cain

"Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many."

-unknown

"That a man is successful who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much, who has gained the respect of the intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."

-Robert Louis Stevenson

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

I've been blessed with a new GrandPup

Your quotes are absolute pearls of wisdom.

Hey all,

Better late than never, huh? Aggravating night at work, we have a lazy@ss in our dept. and I'm ready to strangle him. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold, and Thursdays are my busiest night as a general rule...not looking forward to THAT.

Shawnee, adorable little baby!

A bit crabby here, so I'll go lurk........and try to stay out of trouble!
