HELP!!! :)

My story, short version...

I woke up 3 years ago and said NO MORE. I read DANDR cover to cover, then said ok, ill give it 2 weeks.

I've low carbed, Atkins style, for 3 yrs, lost the bulk of my weight in yr 1 then maintained, slowly dropping the rest.

Lately, I am gaining, haven't changed what I eat ( I do not think, I am starting fitday again). I am now attributing it to peri menopause or just getting older. I am 37, no kids. I am up a solid 10 lbs from my maint weight.

I need a challenge or a group that understands what I am dealing with. It scares me that I may creep up weight wise.

Help!

Janey, please feel free to post on the New Maintainer's thread (even if you are not new to maintaining). I think I remember reading in DANDR that your carb allowance may change over time, and that you won't necessarily be able to maintain at a certain carb level forever. I have not been good about using FitDay but I do keep a daily food diary and that really helps to determine the reason for wt gain. I assume you are exercising and you may need to increase or vary your routine. Vickie

Thank You Corgi..very much, I will research what you said. I am surprised you are the only one to respond. This group must be where I was 2 yrs ago, flying easy.

Thanks Again!

Janey, I'm sure that more will respond, I just saw your post.

I didn't do Atkins but a doctor's plan for me that was LC. You do get to a point of carb tolerance and need to increase carbs and then cut back again. It worked for me at least. When I stalled, I would increase carbs, and start losing again.

DH and I have been maintaining on Atkins for over 6 years with no problems, and I'm a hell of a lot older than you are. I'm still on the estrogen Patch so HRT replacement is not a cause of weight gain as far as I can tell.

One thing I never got into was processed crap. I eat natural proteins, natural fats only, low glycemic vegetables and fruits. We do make flax and almond flour treats but don't eat a lot of them.

Pop over to the golden bb and post a menu or two on the daily menu thread, or even on this ML bb. Maybe we can point out something you may be missing.

Hi JaneyDoe,
Have you had any success since you last posted the question about your weight gain? I too am gaining all of a sudden. I don't want to add more exercise so I am thinking about adding more "good" or rather "clean" carbs for a couple of weeks then going back to induction. I have heard that u are supposed to keep your metabolism guessing from time to time to keep it on it's toes. I don't know if it's because it's winter or what but I'm having a hard time with this thought of completely falling and ending up 20 lbs. or worse from goal. I have worked so hard this whole year. Surely, this will come to a stop soon. I'm so frustrated because this is the time of year that I do need to shape up. Every day is getting harder and further away from my goal. I'm 5 foot and I've been overly chunky all my life. Let me know when you find out what works.

Must be the time of year. I maintained so well for a year and all of a sudden, its slowly trying to come back. I guess I'm gonna have to start living at Induction levels. So much for those 80 carbs a day I was enjoying.
