Zip, its SATURDAY for the Vintage Maint. Crew
Sorry, Y'all...
.....just couldn't face another Thursday (its really still Friday night here) LOLZip, you're doing very well controling that BP...but it does seem to effect your ability to read the Calendar. Remember when we suggested the Panties with the Days of the Week on them??? ![]() Loretta, sure hope y'all get a good trade-in on the new boat. What size, maybe 14-20' ? A 90HP would sure be more than adequate "zoom" for it...gonna also have a small trolling motor? We have an old 16', and a 75 HP was fast enough to ski behind. 10 HP for trolling. Jacki and her DH have a gorgeous big one, inboard. We love the squashes too...our fav (but not yours, right?) is the Spaghetti...I think its only bout 8 Net Carbs per cup. I've become addicted to Parsnips...not all that LC, but I indulge anyway. Tho I don't like rain, we are being blessed with 3 days of it...which means we are getting a little snow in the mountains..YAHOO ! Ginny, and hope Life is being kind to y'all. ShawneeHEY, looka how easy to make Ricotta Cheese: who'da thunk??? http://www.budget101.com/recipes/id109.htm Last edited by shawneesioux : 02-05-2005 at 12:33 AM. |

Hey all,
Well, I'm HOME!!! Was posting from DSisIL's 'puter during my stay in the frozen tundra. It was so good to get home to my furkids, green kids and bed I flew in yesterday afternoon and XDR picked me up. He was staying with the kids for part of the week after GF had to get back home. All is fine here, got a lot of errands to do so will get my butt in gear soon. Sheesh, sure am glad it's not Thursday again. Was having bad flashbacks to the movie Groundhog Day! Everyone have a content day......

Wadda yah mean SATURDAY?
My uunderpants have said THURSDAY fro the last 2 WEEKS. (Actually I jest, I gave up the consarned things in the 60's after my 8,000,000 the bout with Jock Rash., except for long Johns when the temps go to single digits. Underwear is just for people who don't wash regularly! Gee Shawnee, that recipe for Ricotta looks so SIMPLE...like building a small FUSION DEVICE ![]() !I am revisiting my PRINCIPLES OF INTERNAL MEDICINE, circa 1958. What fun. Treatment for BP was phenobarbitol 3x a day...can you IMAGINE. And the RICE DIET: Six to 8 weeks of nothing but rice containing 200 mg. asodium PER DAY, 25 Gm protein and 2000 non-protein calories. (so 2100 calories.) At the time the AHA recommended that people with hypertension get NO MORE than 500mg. sodium per day. I HAD a 1948 version too but it "disappeared." ![]() Long walk today...sunny and mid 40's. Enjoy your weekend. Julie, stay out of the cookie jar !

TGIS - that's-- Thank God it's Saturday!!
Ginny, welcome back to warmer temps, although DD said they were are 50 today in the cities. They better watch out or the grass will grow. Hope your trip was all that it was meant to be -- inner peace is hard to come by these days.Shawnee, I like spag. squash also, it's probably the best of the squashes. Since I don't eat any others it becomes the favorite by default. Zip, maybe your wash cloths should have the days of the week on them since you have given up the underware for having such a clean bod. Julie's hand is in the cookie jar? Maybe someone could put a mouse trap thingy in the lid!! Something I know nothing about is boats. Friends of ours get together and rent a house boat and take it out on Lake Powell once a year (providing there is enough water in Lake Powell and CA hasn't taken MORE than their share). They are probably as much work for up-keep as RV's. Nice sunny, warm day here today -- need to get outside for a walk, etc. Getting together with some friends to watch the Superbowl Ads and the Half Time Show. I understand that they decided NOT to use Janet Jackson's shirt to open the beer can (commercial). I believe that the Patriots will win so why Philly is showing up is beyond me!! Oh ya, for the pre-game shows out on those million dollar boats.I've decided to drink ONLY water tomorrow because anything else makes me wanna EAT!! Waving to the others and anyone lurking !! Barb

Hi
You all crack me up with the underwear comments. What an enjoyable reading episode. back Ginny. Glad that you all had a safe trip. Bet the furkids and orkids were excited to see you after all this time.I know you welcome the warm weather. 60s for you. Shawnee how about that home made ricotta. Looks easy enough. I found the best way to get the whey off of my yogurt is to freeze it first. It sure drains nicely after that. I made a little muslin bag that I suspend in a half gallon pitcher to drain it. I am still making that yogurt Mock Danish you helped me with and still using my grill for the pancakes. Thanks for your help. What is the current crochet project? Zip that phenobarb for hypertension sounds like something that will just make you not care how high that pb goes. Have you heard of taking nitrogylcerin for hypertension. Some gal I know said her DH takes it 2x a day. That's a new one for me. Barb good idea for Zip to get wash cloths with the weekdays or maybe he could get some kitchen towels. I don't know that much about boats except by default. They make me nervous, all that pulling and putting in the water. I know I have a panic feeling about that part. Just give me a crochet hook or a quilt piece to work on. Enjoy the game tomorrow. Best thing about it will be the commercials. Later folks, Loretta |

Wow, so many in here already...if you say it's Saturday I believe you Shawnee. My day's get as messed up as Zip's and I wear underwear. Wonder what I did with those with the days on them?? Hmmmmm Maybe left them back in the 50's....
I love the sp. squash too!! Hadn't thought of that for awhile so will pick some up today. Thanks for reminding me. Gee that sounds so good about now. Butter and parm. cheese on it is all I need. The ricotta looks easy enough but it's a lot easier to buy in the store for me. I hardly ever use it and keeping the homemade only lasts 2 days in fridge. Guess I'm not very adventurous... Weather here has been partly sunny/overcast and in the 50's. Can't complain about that. OMG I just read the forcast...heavy snow maybe tonight and Sunday for the MTs. and possibly here. Man, guess I shouldn't have said anything. Nothing planned anyway so will curl up with a good book, my favorite thing to do. Ginny, home!! I bet those doggies of yours were in ecstasy when they saw you. Bet you'll be attending those orkids today. Isn't it a good feeling to be back home again? I'm such a homebody....Zip, Quote.. Quote This is unbelievable! Boy, we've come a long way baby!! Barb, not even sure I want to bother watching the Super Bowl. Yeah the commercials are the best part but...... No hand in the cookie jar for me. I only ate ONE of Nicks cookies!!! Back on eating right and did very good yesterday...I have no doubt I'll be back to goal very soon. So Loretta, what's your plans for the weekend? Are you just going to cuddle up with your crochet hook and watch the game? Me? Not a thing planned like I said. Going to enjoy it as next weekend we have both my DS's kids for the whole weekend. Age 5 and 1 1/2 years old...God help me!!!

Hi Y'all
just a quickie for now Ginny give my to the FurKids, keep a tad for yourself. ![]() The Phenobarb...ShawnPup was on it 2x day for Epilepsy, after the Valium stopped working. Loretta, I stopped doing the boat thing....after one too many times trying to control the damn thing alongside the dock on the Columbia...cargo ships creating huge waves...HA, since I quit, a protected launch has been built. I haven't crocheted for awhile, need to finish Kaci's slippers before Summer at least. ![]() Barb, the previews I've seen of the SB commercials ....great! What commitment, ONLY water! gotta go help Bob |

Me again.....
Found something good today, except Shawnee please close your eyes as this has soybean oil in it. It's called Carbdown flatout, it's a flat bread and it's quite good! Total carbs: 24, Fiber: 15, so your net is 9 and they are about a foot long and 6 inches wide. Perfect size for a LARGE sandwich! I've got the italian herb flavor (only one I saw) . It was at superWW. Just had one loaded with turkey breast, chipotle cheddar cheese and mayo, made a wonderful sandwich, and this should hold me till later this evening when I have to figure out what to make for my dinner. I think the grill may be calling me ![]() L8r, y'all! |

Oh, dang Ginny, I accidentally peeked...
LOL...guess I do yell a lot bout that Soy. If I could handle it, I'd help ya eat that sandwitch...that sounds like a HUGE one, by the way ![]() Hard to avoid all soy oil, since its such a Government-backed cheap ingredient, its in pratically all processed foods. Still, I keep trying to dodge it. So..what's gonna be on the Grill? I know ya have GOOD meat, I have to get store-bought. Found lg. Family Paks of Ribeyes for $4.98 lb...each steak so big, one feeds both of us. JULIE, did ya get the Spaghetti squash? We just love it...sometimes with a smaller one, we use the halves like a bowl (aftercooking, removing the seeds) and pour meaty Taco fixin's into them...YUM ! True, the homemade ricotta doesn't last long with no added preservatives...so I'd probably make it when I wanted to use some for a Pie or lasagna casserole....ya know, a casserole with zucchini ribbons instead of pasta. (The Ribeyes are at Fred Meyers-Krogers). If ya get any snow, please send a snowball to Bob; he's feeling so deprived. Sure glad we're getting it in the Mts. Clamming is Open at the Beaches today...Bob isn't feeling so great, or we'd BE THERE! Zip, I'm debating whether to tell ya bout my first DH, back in early 60's...did NOT wear underwear...DID wear Levis (when they were still real, stiff, and full of dye)...NAW..guess I'll pass ![]() Where's Montana, Jacki, SuSUN??? Julie DH wants to go to Dd for the Super Bowl. I sure don't want to go. I don't like football to begin with and don't understand it. The gathering is their friends and I don't have much in common with them. Lots of high carb food.
I need a better attitude about it. But compared to those young grandkids of yours it might be easier. Ginny I'll have to check that flat bread out at SW. Was it in the bread section or a speciality section? I would like something for my tuna or egg salad. Shawnee the new boat will be about 18 to 19 feet long. With 2 depth finders and a trolling motor. Hoping they will deliver the boat. We will see. It might be another 2 or 3 weeks at the rate they are going. Loretta |

Shawnee,
Why did you let him get away? "Real stiff and full of dye" sounds like he was a useful and colorful guy! ![]() So Shawnee-Pup was a aleeping-pill Junkie all these years, just like Marilyn Monroe? Ginny, That 15 grams of fiber sounds like a real REGULAR bread. Probably cheaper than Metamucil also. How's the taste...some soybreads can taste mighty weird. We got to 50 degrees today: Our HEARTS were into washing our LR window but alas, our hearts never got out the Windex! Running downstairs for a quick swim before dinner...BJ's Roaster with stewed tomatoes and baked potato. <easy!> Last edited by zip2play : 02-05-2005 at 02:49 PM. |

Hi Crew!
Just a quicky to say we had lovely weather up here on the plus side +4C. The dogs have been out more, which is good for me too! It seems I need 90 minutes of exercise a day! I was reading Dr. Mercola's and here is a wonderful quote: "Overweight individuals who have accumulated an EXERCISE DEBT that must be repaid to regain health!"Lowers weight, BP, Cholesterol and Diabetes, sounds good to me! Found a site as an alternative to DH's health problem. www.lifenph.com Any comments welcome! We will be picking DD up tonight at the airport, so I guess the rat-race begins again. She has already asked me to babysit Sunday night for a couple of hours while they go for a drink and eats without the baby. Ginny, Glad to hear that you are home safe and sound! Wavin to Y'all till tomorrow! SuSUN ![]() |

SuSun, can't get into that site.
How about a funny... HOW TO START YOUR DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK 1. Open a new file in your PC. 2. Name it "Housework". 3. Send it to the RECYCLE BIN. 4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN. 5. Your PC will ask you, "Are you sure you want to delete Housework, permanently?" 6. Answer, calmly, "Yes," and press the mouse button firmly... 7. Feel better? |

Hi everybody,
Been gagging some lollies today and then visited my DD. She leaves next Friday for Fla and some NASCAR race. Not my cup of tea but what ever floats her boat. I may or may not pup sit for Dakota. My son ( the youngest) is staying with her and will take care of him but.......... don't know if I totally trust him. Roger, yup washcloths with the days of the week on them should take care of that "what day is it" problem. If you decide to get that Windex out come on up here. I did one patio door and a big window yesterday but never got to the rest. Shawnee, parsnips are one of my very favorites along with turnips. YUMMM. Spaghetti and butternut squash top the list of my favorite squash Razor back clams? One of the guys on the golden posted a great link about them one year. I sure miss MrKokomo and his clam cam. Thanks for the easy ricotta recipe. I may very well try that. AFTER I make a batch of yogurt. Gee, I'm getting lazy. All I do is think about things I want to do and never get to them. Barb, the add police will be out in full force tomorrow to make sure there isn't another "wardrobe accident" Ginny, welcome home. I bet those pups were beside themselves with happiness to see you and DH. The lc bread sounds good but I have to avoid soy too. It causes my thyroid to enlarge. I bought Dana Carpenter's new cook book...500 recipes... and DH has been making some breads. Some aren't too bad at all and all are full of Fiber. Gotta love that bread machine. It makes it so easy. Julie, just sent housework to the recycle bin. Is it really going to work? As much as you don't want that snow, you guys out there really need it. I would hate to think of the horrible fire season if you don't get some. Loretta, Foot ball is something I never got into either. Send your DH alone and spend the day doing what you want to do. Can't wait to see a picture of that boat. My son has something called an Idaho Drift boat that he uses to take people on fishing trips with. He is a licensed NYS guide and just loves it. Something for him to do full time after he retires from the FD. Susan, There have been numerous commercials on TV about NPH . Hey, what the hell, ask his doctor about it. One never knows. Gotta go check on some more motels and read a bit. Later |

DINNER'S READY, Y'ALL !
All the Spaghetti Squash talk got me cravin' some...no hamburger in freezer, but found some sausage...still YUM ! (this is a small squash, 9" or so...still, 1/2 of a half filled me up) ![]() Oh, geez...Guilt trip me over the Windex ![]() Montana, I bet $5 that the darlin' Dakota will be bunking at his Gramma's house ![]() How great that Gerard likes to bake, you spoiled kid! Here ya go; check it out during Daylight hours. http://www.pacreal.com/clamcam.htm SuSUN, I read all of the Info there on NPH...lots to think about, weigh the pros and cons. Blessings. Loretta, you and Montana sure have gorgeous Avatars...how lucky for y'all, those sweet babies are so Avatar-worthy! We are getting a new Mall, about 1/3 finished so far. Kaci and I went to the opening of the Ross Store today...damn, this hick town really gets excited over such events. Too crowded to buy anything, but we plan on a return trip soon. |
