Of Course, I mean MVM WEDNESDAY

Good morning all:

Oh Linda, I LOVED the gags especially:
"Moses led the Hebrews to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened breadwhich is bread without any ingredients."
That sounds like the recipe for low-carb bread.

Oh yes, I am a staunch Social Socialist/Communist but a strong fiscal and Constitutional Conservative (remember ONLY CONGRESS SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO CREATE WAR.)
I would no more readily have a $.20 interest payment on my credit card than have my nipples festooned with oily barbed wire and set alight. Fiscal irresponsibility should be punishable by castration. If yah don't GOT it, yah DON'T spend it. It was one of the things I liked most about Bill Clinton.
Republicans like to TALK fiscal responsibility but talk is all we get while the borrowing goes through the roof.

I was just musing about well water and thinking of a home in the Catskills we considered buying...10 acres atop a lovely mountain. They paid $4,000 in taxes but provided their own well water, and pumped their poop under the large lawn and had to BURN all their own garbage and truck the recyclables to the town dump. The $4 grand basically paid for the schools, a cop and a mayor...oh, and the TAX COLLECTOR.
When the guys sold the place about 8 years ago, they had to go through all kinds of fancy dancing to remediate the well with chlorine.

Oh, guess who welcomed Ginny back. After blasting about 30 buds in a dismal half-alive/half dead state, Phonecia decided to do a Darwinian adaptation and ACCEPT an open flame as part of the evolutionary process. She opened 3 buds today. Smaller flowers than usual but so very welcome.
Last week I thought I'd give her a steam/sauna treat so I put her in the bathtub a couple times and sprayed her every time I had to pee and soaked her little aerial roots in a couple glasses of water til they got fat and green (remarkable process). She seems to like pampering as much as the next guy!

Heading over to ShopRite early...we bought some cheap plastic poker chips in Target's dollar bin but SR has a set on sale this week so if they are nicer, we'll buy the better ones.

Later, Gaters!

Mornin' y'all,

Zip, sure do hope you used regular WATER to soak Phonecia with

Thanks, all for your thoughts and prayers these last few weeks re MIL. I guess what makes her passing so much easier to deal with is that she had a full life with very little illness, and that she wasn't incapacitated for a long time. I'm sure these last couple months felt like an eternity to her and she was sick of being sick! We're all doing fine, and although there's more of the grief process to go through (holidays, birthdays and such), the worst of it is over and we can remember her in her life, not death.

Y'all, all the funnies cracked me up. Especially the kids ones. They come up with some doozies!

Off to get my day started. Pretty well caffeinated for this early, so better make the best of it!

Ginny

I believe watered-down (diluted) urine would be a good snack for Phonecia.

I have NOT had enough java yet, so will be back later....but am sticking with the Pee idea

Beautiful, sunny day here but still in the 30's. Had to throw more round steak in the crock pot. Seems it was so good that Gerard ate most of it. Boy it was good for something so very simple.

Roger, Septic systems need pumping out every 4 or 5 yrs and wells need testing. Our water is excellent but has a high iron content so we had to get a water softener that removes it otherwise our white laundry, tubs, toilets and sinks take on a very yellow hue.

Oh and we have garbage pick up once a week. It costs us $50 every three months.
No village police protection but we do have the county sheriff and state police.

Fire protection is provided by our wonderful volunteer "chimney savers".

Ginny, it's good to have you back. Continued
to all of you.

Shawnee, you must listen to Jerry Baker, the Master Gardener too. Several of his tonics contain human urine and he swears by it.

Off to get more java too.
Later

Edited to add: Is it Thrusday??

Just wrote a book here and deleted it by hitting the wrong key.

Thanks for the pics and jokes Linda, oh and the recipes.

Zip that seems like lot of taxes for roughing it with own well and septic. We pay about $600 property taxes for our place on the lake with our own dock. That is with the Homestead act for seniors.

Back Ginny. Hope things return to normal for you and Steve soon. How is Bub doing these days?

Thanks all for the birthday wishes for DH. LOL Susun on that cigar smoke all the way to Can. Hope he has gotten that out of his system for now.

Shawnee how is the crochet going? DId you ever get the picture of the plastic slipper I made from the WM bags? Just wondering. I am trying to keep my tension right and having a few problems.

Barb I follow low fat and low carb but do eat full fats. Butter in my cookies, real cream in my root beer float. Some things just taste better with butter.

HI to the fav lurker and thanks for that joke via Shawnee.

Jackie I need some Valentine"s day ideas for my grandkids. Help.

Well bp is still way to high. 170/100 today. Doc says to double up on Lotrel. I won't be able to get around soon. Since starting the lotrel, bp is about 60% better. I still have lots of 16 out of 53 days with way to high bp.

Later before I lose this too.

Got to try out my new shoes today and my feet were dry and did not hurt.

Testing!

Hi Gang,

I have been locked out of my e-mail for the last night and all day today. Bin too busy to call to see what's going on. I have quite a lot in there but it lets me open up and then I try to do a reply or something and it freezes. I have shut down several times a day, so it is blocked. It wont let me delete anything either, so dont know how to handle this one.

Back to work tomorrow so no chance to call the server tech support till Friday.

Glad to see y'all in good spirits!

How come we are posting on Thursday MVM on a Wednesday?

Thanks again Linda, gotta try that round steak in the crock pot.

Ginny,
Shawnee is right on that drink for the plants. My Dad used to say that was good for Tomatoes, our GH was way down at the bottom of the garden, so who knows what he watered them with? eek!

Roger,
YOU certainly are a good shopper, watching for all those bargains.
Sounds like the good life for Phonecia! See how she responds to TLC.

Linda,
I will have to catch up on the jokes, I must have missed those yesterday.

Shawnee,
Did ya get enuf caffiene inta ya?

Loretta,
Poor you with that crazy BP, glad you have the meds there to help. I guess you are on top of the sodium. Doc Roger will research some good tips for you I am sure!

Off to see if I can send this!

I think it's neat that we went from Tuesday to Thursday! I wish all weeks would go that fast!

Round steak sounds good -- I love the crock pot for dinners one doesn't have to fix at the last minute.

Linda, that picture was great -- so peaceful!! The funnies were good also -- I like the joke about the bottle of wine!

Ginny, you all have a really "mature" attitude and approach about life and going on from there. It is our memories that keep people alive.

Well, State of the Union starting -- better run and get a front row seat!!

Waving to all......... til the morrow

Barb

Loretta, you and Ginny best move over. We are going to move to Tennessee. It's difficult to imagine such low taxes. Wow!!

Geez, I hope you can get that BP down.

Susan, that's one of the reasons I love YAHOO e mail. You can access it from any place in the world and never have to worry about your ISP's e mail screwing up.

Hi Barb, yeah crock pots are wonderful!

....these are SOOO GREAT, and I remember all the characters!!!!!!!
If you remember the original Hollywood Squares and its
comics, this may bring a tear to your eyes. These
great questions and answers are from the
days when Hollywood Squares game show responses were
spontaneous and clever, not scripted and (often) dull,
as they are now.
Peter Marshal was the host asking the questions.

Q. Do female frogs croak?
A. Paule Lynde: If you hold their little heads under
water long enough.

Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least
how high should you be?
A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking
should do it.

Q. True or False: a pea can last as long as 5,000
years.
A. George Gobel: Boy, it sure seems that way
sometimes.

Q. You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you
probably a man or a
woman?
A. Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake.

Q. According to Cosmo, if you meet a stranger at a
party and you think that he is attractive, is it okay
to come out and ask him if he's married?
A. Rose Marie: No, wait until morning.

Q. Which of your five senses tends to diminish as you
get older?
A. Charley Weaver: My sense of decency.

Q. In Hawaiian, does it take more than three words to
say "I love you"?
A. Vincent Price: No, you can say it with a
pineapple and a twenty.

Q. What are "Do It", "I Can Help", and "I Can't Get
Enough"?
A. George Gobel: I don't know, but it's coming from
the next apartment.

Q. As you grow older, do you tend to gesture more or
less with your hands while talking?
A. Rose Marie: You ask me one more growing old
question Peter, and I'll give you a gesture you'll
never forget!

Q. Paul, why do Hell's Angels wear leather?
A. Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles easily.

Q. Charley, you've just decided to grow strawberries.
Are you going to get any during the first year?
A. Charley Weaver: Of course not. I'm too busy
growing strawberries.

Q. In bowling, what's a perfect score.
A. Rose Maire: Ralph, the pin boy.

Q. It is considered in bad taste to discuss two
subjects at nudist camps. One is politics. What is
the other?
A. Paul Lynde: Tape measures.

Q. During a tornado, are you safer in the bedroom or
the closet?
A. Rose Marie: Unfortunately Peter, I'm always safe
in the bedroom.

Q. Can boys join the Camp Fire Girls?
A. Marty Allen: Only after lights out

Q. When you pat a dog on its head, he will wag his
tail. What will a goose do?
A. Paul Lynde: Make him bark?

Q. If you were pregnant for two years, what would you
give birth to?
A. Paul Lynde: Whatever it is, it would never be
afraid of the dark.

Q. According to Ann Landers, is their anything wrong
with getting into the habit of kissing a lot of
people?
A. Charley Weaver: It got me out of the army.

Q. It is the most abused and neglected part of your
body, what is it?
A. Paul Lynde: Mine may be abused, but it is
certainly isn't neglected!

Q. Back in the old days when Great Grandpa put
horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?
A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.

Q. Who stays pregnant for a longer period of time,
your wife or your elephant?
A. Paul Lynde: Who told you about my elephant?

Q. When a couple has a baby, who is responsible for
its sex?
A. Charley Weaver: I'll lend him the car, the rest
is up to him.

Q. Jackie Gleason recently revealed that he firmly
believes in them and has actually seen them on at
least two occasions. What are they?
A. Charley Weaver: His feet.

Q. According to Ann Landers, what are two things you
should never do in bed?
A. Paul Lynde: Point and laugh.

Hi y'all

THANKS for the LAFFS!...does a body (and mind) good to chuckle

Got to enjoy an afternoon of togetherness with GBrat Kaci...she has also had this virus crud, and we are three weeks behind on our weekly shopping jaunts. Had just an abbreviated version, as we are both still less than 100%...BUT it sure felt good to get out, and be together.

This afternoon we will attend a Memorial for G~ GFather of DSon's kids...

to everyone.
