Wow!! First again.

This is the second consecutive morning that I just couldn't get more than than 5 hrs. sleep. I hate that so I might as well get this started.

It's 5 below zero again, BUT our almost annual Crappie Derby is being held at the Whitney Point Recreation Area. It's my understanding that the ice is over 18 inches thick.

Ribs were WONDERFUL!. Unfortunately I didn't make enough and they are gone.

nuff of my one liners for now. More coffee is critical right now.

Hi everybody,

Linda, next time ribs are on sale, I'll make them with your method. Can you send me the specifics in an e-mail like when to "baste" how to handle the marinade, etc. I'm fond of low temperature cooking and that makes my duck really good.

Weatherman is promising temperatures in the 30's and the thermometer is easing up gradually (30 now.)

Poker was fun last night: I won about $4; Bob ablout $12. We had 7 people so that makes for some nice pots. Our game of choice is 7 card Stud High-Low. But since it's dealer''s choice, we occasionally throw in a couple hands of Hold-Em (I have trouble using the T word lately!)

Too much junk food last night ; everybody brings crappy noshes for cards and the big winner last night was Nestle Toll House Chocolate Brownie Bars...too good!...Oh and a ton of chocolate covered pretzels. Fortunately it was all MILK chocolate so no pain today like from a nice BLACK chocolate.

Hi Y'all

So Montana...that sure sounds like ICE fishing...Brrrr!

Ribs sound wonderful...I'll furnish the Tailgate and ....whatever goes with a Ribs-tailgate Party. (Bob will say BEER!)

Zip, so the "T" word kinda gags ya, huh? Glad your Game Night was fun and profitable.

Barb, your Trip gave me a childhood flashback: ( that happens when I'm cooped up too long)

The Bear Went Over the Mountain
(tune: For He's a Jolly Good Fellow)

The bear went over the mountain,
The bear went over the mountain,
The bear went over the mountain,
To see what he could see

MAYBE he's lookin' for a new Avatar

Hi SuSUN....been missing ya...hope all's well. Catch us up when time permits.

Hey to everyone who follows.

Shawnee

On the news last night they were talking about 2 towns in Minnasota that were in a dual over getting the lowest temps on record. They were talking 50 below zero and proud of it.
They can have all they want of it.

Linda that is not much sleep. I work better at about 9 hours. My problem lately is that my calves have been cramping up during the night. Makes me wonder what that RLS is all about.
I've added the sf maple syrup to the recipe. Wonder what size those crappie will be. 2-3 pounders around here is a nice size crappie.

Barb will be waiting for your new avitar. Hope your fellow workers have been cooperating better lately.

Susun glad you are getting a breather. Nice to go at a SLOW pace once in a while.

Shawnee that was some pony. Thanks for the pic. Glad you are feeling some better. Sure am glad that Julie explained her one meal. Have you tried any new recipes lately?

Zip does your group play any "wild card" games . I can hardly keep up with the regular let alone throwing in 9s are wild etc. or
one eyed jacks. You sure live dangerously eating that chocolate.

to Ginny.

Hi to Jackie.

Going out to eat tonight with friends to celebrate DH's 80th birthday. Hope we can surprise him.

Later
Loretta

(yawn) Morning(yawn)

Roger, I love to play poker but Chuck isn't so fond of card games. I do play a hand held poker game. They banked me 200 bucks and am now up to $18,440 and thats playing $5.00 at a time. It also has blackjack which I love playing too but I always end up losing with that. When we go camping or like the ocean this week, we play a lot of card games but they don't like poker either. Dang! Let me know when the next poker game is and I'll go to Cheaptickets and see what I can come up with.
STAY AWAY FROM THE CHOCOLATE all kinds....

Linda, I get along just fine on 5 hours of sleep many days. It does catch up and then I get 10 hours in one night. But I can get by on 6 hours most of the time. My RLS sure does interfer with my sleep.

Loretta, personally I don't think leg cramps is RLS. RLS is more of a creepy crawly sensation in the legs. You HAVE TO MOVE THEM sensation. Usually the only thing that relieves it. Computer games sometimes help if their intensive enough. My hand held ones don't do it. Reading doesn't do it. Walking the halls works great....just hate being up til 4:00 in the morning some nights.

Shawnee, sounds like you're more chipper this morning...best news around here for awhile. Hugs....

Barb, so is your drive over the mountains just for the drive or a purpose?

SuSun, enjoy your relaxing weekend girl!

Off to pack!

Loretta,

Try some warm milk before bedtime. Sometimes that leg cramping is relieved by a slight increase in serum calcium.
Oh, we've had some bouts with somebody suggestin deuces aces and one-eyed jacks and something about swoeded kings (the ones without axes.) WHen the lunacy starts I sit out LOUDLY and mutter things about "who'se going to host NEXT month's game."
That usually gets the kiddies all back on the same page.

Shawnee,
those bears are just GREAT...I;d steal them for my avatar but by the time I got them .gifFING the rest of the day would be gone.

Susun,
On your mention of the word TEA, I think I;ll brew a cup of Earl Gray, my favorite.

Bin doing assorted chores at my own pace today, heavenly!
Stayed in all day, cuz been running out everyday for the last couple of weeks.
Tried to book our flight for Florida, all direct flights are booked unless we go late in April, sheesh! Looks like it might have to be the milk run thru Philli.

Roger,
I do hope that you sipped your TEA from a china cup! It tastes so much better and has to be pipping hot!

Loretta,
How is your K+ levels? If you are drinkin all that H20 you made need a top up! I take 500mg of Ca+with Vit D at night helps relax me too!
Thank you I plan to relax this weekend!

Julie,
Ya sound like, ya sure know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em!
I used to enjoy card games, we play cribbage sometimes with DD and her DH, gotta get back into that.

Shawnee,
Those Polar Bears are just adorable, could be a pic of DH and I up here in the frozen tundra!
Not too sure on that pony though, would that be English riding or Western?

Barb,
Hope you find a cute avatar as you are coming round the mountain when she comes! I think I told you DD and I took many trips to Denver and we used to drive to Castlerock, I found that area breathtaking, we also went up to the pink Gods area!

Linda,
Those ribs sound scrumptious!
Hope you are feeling the so called warmth this weekend that we have all been promised.
Good your NY getting the contract with LMartin!

Wavin to our Ginny!

crawling back in with my eyes ready to close.

Susan, good luck with that flight.. Direct flights are really difficult to find.

We are all happy that Lockheed Martin won the contract but BOY is Connecticut pissed off. Poor losers, eh?

Roger, I like the easy way out so my method of cooking them is to plunk them in a baking pan, place them in a 250 degree oven and forget about them for 5 hrs. Then I baste them with the BBQ sauce ( save some for dipping). Nothing to it, especially if you use a disposable aluminum pan. They are always fall off the bone tender and moist.

<Groan> Chocolate covered pretzels were always one of my favorites.

Tonight on America's Most Wanted, they are doing a segment on the Jersey City family who was murdered. Should be interesting. It's on at 9PM but not sure what channel you would get it on.

Loretta,Leg cramps eh? Are you getting enough potassium, magnesium and calcium? I always get the darn things when my electrolytes are screwed up. Remember you are on a diuretic so be careful.

The winner in the crappie contest was 13.58" but I don't see the weight posted anyplace.

Shawnee,
darn it all, now I'm humming that darn bear went over the mountain song. My grandfather always had us sing along with that on the way to DC. plus a few others. If I weren't so tired I would remember them.

Beer is fine with me .... Aspen Lite ( really I would love a Genny Cream Ale or a Moose Drool)

Love those huggie bears too.

Glad you are feeling better. Now don't go and have a relapse.

Julie,5 hrs???? yikes. I usually get at least 8 but function better on 9. Had enough sleep deprivation when I was working.

Oh that's right you are leaving tomorrow. Have a wonderful time and take pictures.

Ginny

Waving to Jackie and the MIA's and lurkers.
