Wed, Jan 19 for MVM

Mornin' y'all,

Not as cold today, looks like we're above freezing already. Still colder than I like it, but at least it's going in the right direction! Not much going on here, just waking up.

Linda, has your DB set up the surgery yet or do they need to do more work on him before that gets done? Good thoughts and your way!

Zip, hope you're feeling better! I've heard one has to be careful about beans (or anything gaseous) in a pressure cooker...... our old neighbor had beans blow through the relief valve on hers and it made QUITE a mess!

Loretta, I believe I'd walk on a treadmill when it gets that cold out, but if you enjoy the fresh air part, layering is the way to go! Is Leah any better now? Poor thing!

Susan, I just can't imagine dealing with those kinds of temps any more. I really wonder how I managed to survive MN.... don't think I'd ever want to attempt THAT again! Stay safe driving in the sneaux.

Jacki, Julie and Shawnee, are you out of the monsoon yet?

Barb, how's things in your part of the country?

Not very well caffeinated yet, better glug some more and be coherent soon..... L8r all!

Hi Ginny, where the heck is everyone else? Must be hibernating or something.

Gosh it's darn cold here and the roads are a total mess. Accidents all over the place. Heard on the weather report that we could have a significant "snow event" to rival the 1996 blizzard this weekend. UGH!!

Brother is on the OR schedule for Feb. 16. Hopefully the roads will be OK so we can get there.

Not much going on here today but I do need to get to the grocery store if the plows and salt trucks decide to clear our road.

More later

Hi Ginny, Linda,

Ginny,
I thought twice about the beans in a pressure cooker but the pound in an 8 quart cooker was only about 10% of the volume and I thought I'd only "precook them." Turns out they fully cooked in 1/2 hour but maintained shape til mashed so no danger. My dad came home drunk as usual one night and nosied around the stove AS USUAL and forced open the pressure cooker full of spaghetti sauce under full pressure to see what was inside. He spent a week in the hospital and the only thing that saved his face was being smashed into unconsciousness by the flying lid ala Maggie and Jinx.
Kitchen looked like a herd of wildebeast had been slaughtered by 25 hungry lions.
The old Mirro-Matics didn't have the lock piston that the new ones have. I'd have to use dynamite to get mine open under pressure...a nice feature.

Linda,
So long a wait for Johns Hopkins...I guess the politicians all have first dibs for their weekly pedicures and hair implants.

We dressed like Mukluck of the Arctic and it warmed to the mid 20's so we roasted. But we got ShopRite and BJ's well and truly shopped. Flurries began a little while...1/2 inch max expected but the worry is the coming weekend; but no firm committment yet from the weatherman.

I can't decide whether to skip the gym today. I'm both aerobically (yesterday) and anaerobically (Monday) pooped. I wish I enjoyed swimming more but I'm heavier than water and half my effort goes into keeping me on top of the water...Swimming is exhausting torture for me.

I read the meters above and below me...both are spinning like tops. Glory to God in the highest, it's WARM in here!
Even the ceramic bathroom floor feels good underfoot!

More if anything exciting happens...hi to those who pop in later.

Hi Y'all

I'm here to complain...been working up to a full-blown sinus thingy since Sunday. When my bod is weak, the Hives jump on the bandwagon "get her while she's down"...*whine* Oh, woe is me.

Zip, I'm gonna wring the neck of yor fav nephew the Chuckster. He takes advantage of my weakened conditon and sleeps on my face or chest. While the extra warmth is welcome, the labored breathing is not. I'm bout ready to tuck his butt into the pressure cooker and serve him over toast. Since he's old and tough, maybe bout an hour of of cooking?
What kinda wine should I serve with him?

Currently on the second day of record-breaking high temps...mid Sixties ! Not good, causing the rivers to rise and some areas flooded. Big mudslide yesterday on the road we took to see the grounded ship last week.

Ginny, did ya hear of the one town in MN that hit MINUS 54° ???
How's the Bub doing?

Montana, sending positive thoughts and to your DB.
Sounds like he's in good hands medically.

SuSUN, what's the subject of your writings?

Loretta, hoping to hear of some improvement for lil Leah.
Plain vanilla? HARDLY! As I recall, you're the gal who posted her swimsuit pic.
LOL, explain this contradiction:

"Shawnee that is just what I did on the crocheting, I added a few ideas of my own to the stitches and it worked for me. I feel more comfortable with it now too."
VANILLAS follow directions; FreeThinkers get inventive.

Montana,
"Shawnee, fiddling with the basic crochet stitches isn't something I'm able to do with my limited experience and 4 "thumbs". LOL I'm lucky I can do a basic single and double stitch."
ALL I know is the sc and dc too...I just choose not to use them where the Pattern requires them..cause there's always room for improvement.
Proud of ya for getting out that Afhgan again.

Hey to Barb, Julie, Jacki nad Lurkers.

Back to the couch now and get into my self-pity position.

OH GAWD ZIP, ya cracked me up !

Laughed so hard, I coughed up a FurBall.

Maybe MAD DOG 20/ 20....choice of cheap derelict winos in my youth...hair of the dog to chase down the cat.

Nah, Benadryl won't touch chronic hives. I have industrial strength Hydroxyz Pam ...knocks me out, but I wake up hives-less.

SO...where's everyone else?

Come back y'all, I'll stop whining !!

Better late than......... other wise.

Sorry to hear that you have the crud too Shawnee. Zip is generous to a fault with that respiratory stuff. LOL on cooking up the Chuckster in the pressure cooker. Why did those hives show up too? Been out shopping quite a bit of the day. I needed some new walking shoes and #10 thread. Got another idea now for baby hats for the "newborns in need" Got to find an easy pattern. When I get a min or so I'll take a pic of my bookmark to show you. Learning all sorts of non vanilla stuff.

Linda hope you were able to get out to the grocery stores. You sure do need that 4 wheel drive. I couldn't take a whole winter of that stuff. I hope we don't get an more of it. How is your DD, Dakota's mom doing this winter?

Zip I only got a 60 day trail subscription of my Norton's antivirus and firewall with my new pc. Thinking about which way to go to purchase the software or download on line? What say you?
On symantic web site they have a combo suite for $49. It costs more than that at the computer stores. NO taxes if I order the software on line but there is shipping.

Baby Leah is doing lots better today and DS says she is playing with her birthday toys and getting back to her regular inquisitive self.

Ginny I like getting out even if it is cold. I am not really complaining out the temps. Just making for conversation, I guess. I get out there in rain too. Just wanna walk.
I have not seen Spot now for about a week. I saw him once more on the highway and thought he was headed this way.

Worn out so that is it for me.

Hi to the rest of our bunch.

Loretta

Got out to the grocery store with my heart in my mouth going down that hill sideways. Roads are a glare of ice and crap. Whew! Made it back without too much trouble.

OMG Roger, I about spit my drink all over the keyboard at your reply to Shawnee.

Oh and thank you for the very informative link you sent me about Prostate ca. I sent it on to Larry.
Hell a three week wait for surgery there isn't too bad. Here it's longer unless it's a real emergency. LOL those Politicians NEED their hair plugs and face lifts.

It's good to hear you finally have tenants above and below to help heat your place. Hope they stay put for the winter.

Shawnee, LMAO Poor Chuckster. He is just being sympathetic to you. Those critters know when we are not feeling well.
Have you ever heard of "Thunderbird" wine? Real good stuff that we got into when we were young and foolish. "What's the word? THUNDER BIRD" was the war cry back then.
Anyhoo, yeah they can be royal PITA's

Get over that sinus crap and hives will ya please? Damn!! what is causing the hives?

Loretta, so did you get some good walking shoes? What kind?

Why don't you give AVG anti virus and Zone alarm a try? They are both free and pretty darn good according to PC World magazine and several others.

Glad to hear Leah is doing better. Gosh these poor kids seem to get everything that comes along. Nick is sick again too.

Now where the heck are Julie, Barb, Jackie and Susan? Are they ignoring us?
