RUBY MVM TUESDAY, January 18

(I should have waited til today to post the necklace.)

Good morning everybody,

Linda,
I'm SO sorry to hear about your brother. Of course, being me, I have a couple questions.
1. Has he had it staged yet? Perhaps surgery isn't necessary and seed implants might be enough but since he's only in his 50's maybe the surgery is better and more final.
2. Why Johns Hopkins...if I were a Binghamtonian, I'd opt for Roswell (Sloane Kettering has a bit of a reputation for being too "cut-happy" and too quick with experimental chemo.)
My thoughts go with the two of you (BTW, what's his name?)
Final thought: surival rates for prostate cancer are quite good these days.

THough I shouldn't complain in the face of cancer, I have a cracking headache for the last 20 hours...and I can't blame chocolate. Maybe it's my BP doing it. Medicated a tad this morning.

HARD muscle workout at the gym yesterday, headache and all; today only aerobic: bike and treadmill and steam, sauna, moisturize, shave, more steam, more sauna...you get the gist! All they need is a couple cute guys in jockstraps whacking me with eucalyptus fronds..."OWWW, AGAIN PLEASE!"

I made some black bean soup ala dry beans yesterday with a 12 hour soak and a 1/2 hour in the pressure cooker. Much nicer taste than canned and NO SALT. I'm SOLD on the dry beans (and much cheaper, too, although canned beans aren;t really a "high-ticket" item.
Looking to drop the two pounds of water-bloat today.

Susun,
I've been meaning to ask: Is your avatar a DOUBLE lily? It's quite lovely? Tell us about the Ontario cold...we have 12 this morning (your -12), bright sun and light breeze.

Washingtonians, has the rain abated any? Any good stories about kayaking to the grocery store?

To all a good day.

Pssst, I think I got a neighbor UPSTAIRS yesterday and the floors are also suspiciciously warmer DOWNSTAIRS...something's afoot and it's OK by me.

Hi Ya!

We have the SUN and blue skies today, temp is...wait for it...-35C, with the windchill. It is -25C without. So I am going over to DD's to babysit again this aft, so she can run around and get her errands done, too cold to take Ella out in that.

It is nice and bright out though, so I'll just warm the car up and layer well.

Thanks for asking about DH and the Pred, no signs of improvement yet but this is only day #3, I will keep ya posted.

Linda, so sorry to hear about your brother, yes, he will be in our prayers. I heard of 2 family members over the holidays being diagnosed too. A couple of guys that work with DH have had the Sx and are back at work now, also a psychologist at work, he had it done last summer and is back at work.

Roger,
So sorry to hear about the headache! How are the BP #s?
What other Med s/e could be causing that?
The avatar is an amarilis, I thought that is what it said. I just like the delicate pink.

Gotta go and get my babysitting clothes on!

Later,

SuSUN

Hi folks,

Linda, so sorry to hear that news for your DD baby brother. He must have a confirmed diagnosis right? If you are just hearing about it, he must have gone in for testing. He was probably relieved to tell you. Prayers for you and him.

Zip you don't think that chocolate gave you that HA. I just will NOT touch that stuff. How has that bp been off of the meds?
You sure are getting you money's worth out of that gym.
Sauna, sauna, I'll think of you when I am out walking in our 14 degree weather. It might warm me up some.

SUsun good that you have some good old sunshine to go with that cold stuff. At least your spirits can get brightened. Enjoy little Ella this afternoon.

Shawnee that is just what I did on the crocheting, I added a few ideas of my own to the stitches and it worked for me. I feel more comfortable with it now too. It just takes practice and ripping. Dh asks what difference does it make I am just going to rip it apart anyway. You know I am a vanilla type person. I like to stick to the basic plan. Hope the rains stop.

Hi to the rest of our bunch.

Hi everyone.

Gee it's only 3 degrees but the sun is out. Not warm, but bright.

Roger my brother, Larry, had the PSA then a biopsy so It's been staged. His urologist here in town at one of the local hospitals, affiliated with Roswell, said if it were him, he would go to Johns Hopkins.
Fortunately my brother's sister in law is an RN there and has some pull. He has already been to see the urologist there and everything is scheduled. It's my understanding that they have some really high tech, up to the minute equipment that most places in the country don't have yet, so the minimally invasive, nerve sparing surgery there seems like the right choice for him.

Glad those dried beans worked out for you. I do like them much better than the canned too.

Is your BP going up enough that it could cause a headache? Since you aren't eating chocolate, could you possibly be getting a sinus infection? I get the pressure headache from those frequently so you might want to check that out.

Susan, hopefully the pred will help your DH but in the mean time, I would bug the CHIT out of those doctors and try to get him seen sooner.

Babysitting again?

Loretta, gee it's awfully cold there too isn't it? Crazy weather..
How is Leah doing? Hopefully that double ear infection and bronchitis is getting better. Poor baby.

I'm plugging away at that afghan and should have it done sometime within the next 20 years or so.

Shawnee, fiddling with the basic crochet stitches isn't something I'm able to do with my limited experience and 4 "thumbs". LOL I'm lucky I can do a basic single and double stitch.

Waving to everyone else. I have to get myself OUT of here for awhile.
