Good Morning Maintainers!

Bright and SUNny up here again today but COOL! At least there is no sneux to shovel yet!

Just a quick question does anyone know how to remove the smell of burn from a frying pan. I have heard boiled vinegar, coffee grounds and the like. Any suggestons welcome, thanks.

I have a group starting this aft, so leaving at noon.

Hope to be back tonight!

Hi to all

Thanks for the comments on Leah. So nice to have her close by so I can go and get some pictures and hold her. She had to go back for a dr visit today. She has both ears infected and bad lungs, bronchitis. A shot today and back tomorrow for another, breathing treatments, nasal spray. Oh my.

Ginny cold here too (don;t tell SUSUN). We were in the teens this am. But I'll take this over snow and ice anyday.

Susun not sure what to tell you to do for that frying pan. Is it a nonstick finish. If it is you might have a problem. I have used oven spray on burned pot bottoms. It took several applications but it worked nicely. Are you still working from home too besides doing your regular groups? Is the Pred helping DH?

Shawnee when the older step DGkids come for a visit they bring movies and thier DVD player. I just cannot get into most of what they watch. Comedy??????? with people degrading each other and abusing each other. Maybe something wrong with me. I did really enjoy the GREEN MILE with Tom Hanks, though.
Getting a better looking bookmark lately, just keeping at it.

Hi to the rest of the bunch. Later

Howdy.
What kind of fry pan? I assume a cast iron. I've never had burn smell stay in mine...how bad did you burn it????
Have you tried bringing some baking soda and water to a boil in it? That may help. Then reseason it in the oven.

Dreary cloudy day today. But, we are supposed to have highs in the upper 50's lows in the lower 50's. All my plants will think spring is here. The bulbs are already up for a couple weeks. YIKERS. I told them to go back to sleep but they didn't listen.

My work week is 5 days. Today there's no work for MLK. Nice and quiet here. Haven't turned on the tv or radio or anything. Just read and play on the puter. Still in my jammies and I don't care!! I'll not put that bra on (excuse my crassness) until I HAVE to. Dangblasted contraption. It's evil!!

I have a nice big roast to put in the oven. I'll roast it all day long for max tenderness. Make some cabbage to go with it. Yummmmm

I'll be in and out today.

Cold here and dropping...24 now at dusk. The next couple days will be ball busting cold (them that got 'em.)
We're supposed to go into the teens tonight and Linda to Zero fahrenheit (that's about -18 C Susun.)

Susun,
Usually when the black is all out the smell is gone too. I use a Brillo pad on aluminum, and oven cleaner on steel or iron. Copper gets fine steel wool and then copper cleaner. Teflon usually gets thrown away unless a long soak in hot soapy suds loosens the stuff enough to get it off with a soapy cloth.
The only thing that SMELLS forever is the f*%#en microwave when a bag of popcorn goes into a nuclear meltdown. That can smell BAD for a month every time the oven is used.

Bob is seeing Hurlyburly tonight on stage. I demurred because I saw the 1985 production with the best cast I've ever seen at one time on a stage (William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, Judith Ivey, Cynthia Nixon, Jerry Stiller, Ron Silver and Harvey Keitel.)
I don't want to spoil the memory of a BRILLIANT bit of theater (about cocaine and sex in 1980's Hollywood Hills) that was more timely last time as well...psst, my memory is also better than Bob's (don't tell him I said that)
Besides, on Mondays I get 5 straight hours of STARGATE SG-1 on Sci Fi Channel.

Rootin in kitchen...I think there's a nice roasted chicken breast in the fridge...sliced with some mayo.

Brrrrrr gang. It's about 8 and dropping. We may get some lake effect snow too. One weather person said up to 8" HUMMM.
Ran out today and picked up a few more books so I can hibernate until this cold snap is over. I'll not complain because come July, we will all be ******ing about the heat. I would rather have this.

Susan, what did you burn and in what kind of pan? If it's too bad, just throw it away.

Ginny, sorry about the cold snap there too. At least you don't have as long to wait for spring.
Sorry about no holiday. I guess we government workers got spoiled with 13 legal holidays per year.

Pats and hugs to Bub.

Aww Loretta, that poor little doll. Hopefully the ear infection and bronchitis will be gone soon. It breaks my heart to see them sick.

I hear ya on the movies. I just can't get into any of them and would rather just read. Did enjoy the heck out of Saving Pvt. Ryan though.

Shawnee, I took a peek at the other pictures on your site after drooling over the lovely flowers from your DS. Love those book marks. I must get a smaller crochet hook and try them. Might just have one around here someplace though, but I need a good kick in the butt to get going on it.

Jackie, can't say as I blame you for not bothering to put on a bra. God those things are so uncomfortable.

What cut of roast are you cooking? Beef is my very favorite. DH cooked another Turkey which I like, HOWEVER I've been sprouting some pin feathers lately.

Roger, Pass me a piece of that chicken with a good bit of mayo on it. Better yet, how about some chicken salad... Onion, celery, mayo...Yummmm

5 straight hrs of Stargate It must be good. I'll have to check it out.

Now where are Julie and Barb?

I'm here!! Yes, I had work today!

Throw that pot away Actually I use baking soda and let it simmer on low ...... we all want to know what type of pot it is! I want to know how you did it!! You don't cook on high heat as my DH does, do you?

I enjoyed the Green Mile also and watched a couple of times -- need to see Saving Private Ryan yet.

When I have a lazy day at home -- I never do find that bra Isn't it neat not to have to dress on some days? I always wanted to be one of those mom who would put their kids on the bus with their robe on and curlers in their heair. So one day, many moons ago I ran my DD to school in the car and wore my robe. I was scared to death I would have an accident and I was only a mile away.

Loretta, how far away is Leah? It's rough when they are sick and so little -- you just don't know what to do for them.

Ok Julie -- what are you doing? Is it my deo. or mouth wash this time?? I'm holding steady at 125 - how about you?

to all!

Barb

Oh yeah Barb, I'm holding steady alright and if I don't pull myself together I'll weigh 125 too!! I've had it though and have decided to eat legal vegi's evertime I get hungry. Got my journal out and writing everything down I put in my mouth.

Speaking of bra's!!!!! I hate the damn things but have to wear them. Since Roger is lurking I won't go into detail but I have to wear them all the time except at night.

SuSun, throw the damn pot away and buy an new one!!!!!!!!!

Have ya decided to move to our area yet. I think it's up to 50° today. We're up about 20° since the weekend when we had snow, freezing rain and rain all within about 2 hours.

Dinner time is waiting for me to figure how what to do with leftover pork. It was so rainy and dark today I didn't get to the store to buy some broccoli for stir fry. BAck later....

Back for more

Leah is not far from me, about 10 miles. I hesitate to go there if she is sick because of DH's chronic leukemia. He should not be exposed to viruses or germs if possible. If I get sick then he gets sick too.

I must be because I like my bras. First thing on in the am and last thing off before bed. I guess I just like a support group.

Linda I hope you get around to trying the bookmarks. Today is the first time I have come anywhere near looking like Shawnees. I think I can get it to work. I need some heavier thread though, mine is too thin. I like the varigated colors too.
Have you been working on that afghan?

We had some left over pork roast too and I made it into barbeque for DH. HE ate it but was not too thrilled withit.

Oh Loretta, LOVE your support group joke!

I am with Jacki, I love to go bra-less and stay in my jammies on days that I dont work, cuz they would sure notice at the office eh?

It was just a teflon stick type frying pan. It was not that bad, I forgot that I had it on high and then was planning to turn it down, got on the puter and the smell!

DH said to ditch it too! I have had it in several soaks with just lemon washing up detergent and it seems to be coming along okay now.

Thank YOU all for the great remedies, I had forgotten about baking soda to soften stuff. Oven cleaner for the bottom is good and steel wool, got all that. Thank you for the tips.
I agree, Roger about the popcorn burn smell, they have done that a few times at work. We do have about a dozen on our floor! So one will go out of order for a while.

Wavin to y'all

Just a quick check in before I collapse into bed. Been a Bear of a night.
My "baby" brother who lives next door just called and told me he has prostate cancer. He wants me to go with him to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on Feb. 15 and stay a few days while he has surgery and drive him home. I'm just too stunned to talk right now.
More tomorrow.

Hi Y'all

Oh, my goodness...Miss Leah is much more ill than I had realized.
SO sorry to hear this, Loretta. BTW, why should there be any hard and fast rules in Crocheting? You know by now, I've broken them all.

Montana, the pics of the Bookmarks are the ones my SIL made, they are from the pattern I sent...mine are a tad different of course....cause I hate following directions. I skipped the outside border embellishments, and used two threads instead...on some, I beaded around them...Repetition is boring, so I don't. I'm on the third pair of slippers..and dammit, I DO have to be repetitious at least twice!

LOL on the Bra -off ! Guess Loretta is the only one who can appreciate that barbaric device.

Geez, Bob stinks up the Nuker. I boil a bit of white vinegar in it.
For a good all-around room freshener, a lil Vanilla on a cotton ball is nice.

Julie, HiYA ! That last go round of crud weather that hit ya somehow missed us, but smacked Portland royally. When it turns warm here in the Winter (like now, 52° at 10 PM !) I always worry bout flooding.
Better gas up the Ark.

Right on,Jacki...that ain't Liquid Sunshine comin' down.
Guess we could only stay lucky for so long...

Barb, I think the rollers and bathrobe thingy would make my vehicle break down...from shock!

Hey Goddess, checked your DH's eBay rocks: nice!

Zip...FIVE hours?

SuSUN, how's your DH doing on the Pred?

To all, stay safe, warm...dry and content.

Shawnee

EDITED:

Montana, just saw your message.
