WEDNESDAY on MAINTAIN MOUNTAIN
Good morning mountaineers,
We had a WONDERFUL evening yesterday. Bob got ahold of 2 lovely orchestra tickets ($125 eact retail <cough> to the Richard Tucker Foundation Gala (the THIRTIETH) at Lincoln Center, an annual do made possible by the Tucker money (he was apparently well-paid.) Singing was absolutely divine, with about a dozen new voices doing the most loved arias of the opera repetory. Since the trip was almost completely underground (Lincoln Center has a subway entrance under the theater complex.) The last block home got us wet but I'm ok if I can strip, towel and put on dry clothes immediately. We'd have done a dinner out since the tickets were free, but with the weather I made a pot-roasty kind of thing that was good. Julie, Linda, I hope your puters aren't giving you TOO much agita. Whoa, What a mess California is; are you Washingtonians having much trouble with all the rain? No plans today but the gym...I'm getting stronger every day and did 25 minutes on the bike yesterday; hard iron today! If the drizzle abates another stroll to Can=Can might be wise (canned beans 3/$1 which I missed last trip because they had no BLACK) Time to hit the slopes with TUXRACER! ![]() Them that got nice weather (anyone?), enjoy it today!

You are so lucky to have those experiences where you live - Zip. I'm green with envy. You visit places I only hear about in the news.
Wow!! We are really getting the wind knocked out of us here because of the CA "white" stuff and wind. Where I live -- every pass out of here is closed due to avalanche danger! Heavy snow and high wind just blew and blew last night, it felt like the whole house was shaking. This is when ranchers don't want a calf! Most plan their newborns for the Spring, but you will take one when you can and they don't survive in this weather. When we feel out of sorts we just need to think of missing people in CA and losing their homes!! Of course, many went back and re-built on some slope even after the 95 mudslides. I heard yesterday that Randy Moss might even get fined for his actions. I think it was because it was on national TV and inappropriate. The fact that he left and walked off the field before the game was over the week before doesn't help his image. I don't care how good he is -- just my 2 cents! I have six miles to get to work and need to wait until the plows have gone through -- Later, Barb

Good morning Roger and Barb.
Just popping in for a few minutes. Computer tech is going to come out to the house and fix whatever he screwed up.FREE Damned asshat installed SP2 against my wishes and never did fix the bit map thing. He just checked Gerard's account, which always worked, and didn't bother to check mine, which didn't work.THEN when I brought this computer home, my printer, scanner and camera wouldn't work. Kept getting a flag that said "can't find". I have been up all night trying to troubleshoot and reinstall to no avail. I'm off to take a nap before he gets here. to all. |

Linda Honey, you said my favorite 2 word phrase: "for FREE."
You are gonna need a format...really and truely. (Maybe He'll do it <wishin, and hopin and prayin!>) Actually THAT would be a good time to put in SP2...BEFORE all the drivers are loaded. Don't let him out til you make sure all your peripherals are working. My mantra: Nobody can fix broken Windows...it must be replaced. (Lke Humpty Dumpty.) Hey ask your guy if there is anyway around the problem of getting a nice icon in your FAVORITES and then in a day or two they are all turned to the samey blue "e"'s. I want the nice site icons to remain! Make sure you have those Faves Exported to a floppy just in case. ANd any photos backed up on a CD-R (or RW). Rain is stopping so we're off the Shop-Rite. Gosh we're into the 40's and looking for 60°F tomorrow...nice January Barb, How deep are the snows in your area? Is the power holding up? My sympathy extends up to but not including the doofuses who build houses on a canyon cliff held up by sticks...Hey, nice view, dude ! That's why they never built Gothic Cathdrals that way and they are still standing almost a millennium later. Same with aspwipes who constantly rebuild on sand dunes and expect the taxpayer to pick up the bill for insurance, because after spending $5 Mil to build the place, "private insurance would be too high."Last edited by zip2play : 01-12-2005 at 08:53 AM. |

Just checking in and then off to the dentist. Have a small hole near my gold crown needs filling. Grrrrrrr Then to lunch with a long time friend.
Puter is fine. Got the Service pack2 all uninstalled (I think) and is running fine. I had loaded Weatherbug and think that was screwing with me. Uninstalled that too. I love having the little icon at the bottom with the temp. but for some reason, it seems to cause more trouble than it's worth. This is the 3 rd time I've loaded it and uninstalled it. You'd think I'd learn. Now, I think I'll take Roger's advice and leave well enough alone. Just wish my little reminder would quit telling me every morning that I have an update to do. LOL Sorry gang but I gotta run and get dressed and out the door. Barb, stay safe!

Hey gang,
DH let me sleep in this morning till around 9:45! Sure felt good, but I don't normally do that! Last night was the 2nd night for Bub to be in general PUPulation overnight and he is doing just fine with it. He sure enjoys being one of the gang again, and I make sure he gets his favorite spot on the 'squishy rug' no matter who else wants that specific square footage! Zip, I have to agree with you on having no sympathy for those who build their $$$ homes in sand or cliffsides (or fault lines for that matter) and then get wiped out to only rebuild in the same spot. How about a little common sense here people? And why they get gov't assistance for being ignorant in the first place is beyond me. I have to carry my own homeowners ins., let them too! It's 60 degrees here for us, but we're supposed to cool off to 'normal temps' this week and weekend. Enjoying it while it lasts! Barb, OMG, all that sneaux! Just be safe out there! Is your vehicle 4WD? Calving at this time of year would really be bad....we don't even like them born here this time of year since the weather can be so unpredictable. Usually it's cold, wet, raining etc, and a calf doesn't survive that well either! We (when we had cows) only let the bull run with the herd for specific times to control when the calves came. Linda, hope the puter tech gets it done RIGHT this time......I would be so pi$$ed off if I took it in and they didn't do what I wanted! Shawnee, so what did you do for Bob's b-day? Well, what you CAN tell us LOL! Hope y'all were able to do some favorite things to make the day special!Susan, hope your DH had a good b-day even though he had to put it to bed early. Any more word on what is causing his weakness in the legs? I think your take on football was pretty good with that endzone comment LOL Julie, we had weatherbug on our 'puter for a little while, but uninstalled it because it used too much RAM continually, even when it was just the little icon in the tray. Best off to not have that one installed. Loretta, Jacki and all, hope you're having a content day! Later,

A quick check in. Company arrived about 11:30 last night and have breakfast and are gone to antique for a while. Beautiful 70 degree weather here and the sun is trying to shine.
Barb be careful. Do you drive a 4 wheel drive vechicle? One of the best benefits about retirement is not having to go to work. I enjoy it even more when the weather is nasty. Zip what a wonderful event for you and Bob with such wonderful voices to hear. NO snow for you to fight with to get there or back. I'd wouldn't mind a little moisture. I agree with you on the advice about the Broken Windows for Linda. Back it up first. Ginny Bub is really getting along quite well. Glad to hear that for him and you. Linda glad you checked in and gave us that update. Sorry that you are having all of those PC problems. When I was having an adjustment to mine I actually felt ill a few times when I really messed up. Susun I sure don't babysit Leah as much as you do Ella. You seem to be there quite a bit. She goes to day care in the day time and I really don't want to drive after dark and they know that. But DS has been working a lot lately with no time for going out. But the strike is over now and the plant is getting back to regular. HI to Jacki, and Shawnee. Later folks. Maybe Gotta go gang and get organized again. |

Hello Gang!
We had yukky weather up here today, freezing rain, so it was chip, chip on the windscreen after work tonight. The drive home was slow too but we were all moving. I had to have a nap earlier it was a busy day. They gave me 3 groups and several presentations over the next 8 weeks. I am thinking of refusing one of the groups. I gotta learn our gang's new phrase, JUST SAY NO! Roger, Those tickets sound heavenly along with the voices eh? Barb, Steer clear of those ploughs too! What a shame about those calves born at this time. Ginny, So glad to hear Bub is back in the PUPulation! What an amazing recovery LOVE makes. It must be some kind of Neuropathy perhaps from the shingles. We are waiting to see a neurologist, long wait. Thanks for asking. Linda, Get some rest now the puter marathon is over. Loretta, Yup, I am over at DD's a lot, she gets tired and stir crazy too. I cant resist helping out and seeing those smiles...you know what I mean. Julie, Hope the filling went smoothly. Shawnee, Guess this is too early fer ya? Check in so we know you are safe from that weather! Wavin to Jacki. SuSUN ![]() |

Computer is all fixed except for that jpeg/bitmap thing on the "owners" account, so hell I just created a new account and moved everything over. Printer, camera and scanner are working wonderfully and the little twerp will call me if he finds out more about the bitmap crap. Otherwise I can live with it for now.
Roger, yeah I like FREE too. No reformat though. He is the second one who said it's not necessary. Yeah Right. If you knew the dos commands that need typing into WindowsXP, I would call you and have you walk me through some of it, but I'm too darn chicken. What a wonderful waste of tax payer money we spend on those idiots who build on beaches and mountain sides. Oh well. One of these days the taxpayers will revolt hopefully. In the mean time, take heart. It's nature's way of culling the herd to get rid of a few with defective genes. Julie, bummer on another dentist trip. OUCH!! Hope it's not too painful. Got rid of weather bug too even though I loved the temp on the task bar. It really did cause too much trouble though. So when are you going for SP2 again? This guy said it is fine now but not a few months ago. Maybe Microsoft finally got it right, eh? Hey, I need a taxi maybe Friday. Are you available? Ginny, it's wonderful to hear Bub has now joined the pack and is enjoying their company and warm, night time snuggles. Bet he is so happy. Gee, send that warm air up this way will ya? This weekend Susan is sending us another Arctic blast. What's the weather like there in the first few weeks of March? G and I are thinking of perhaps meeting my brother from Montana in the Carolina's then. IF it's warm enough. Shawnee, we want to hear all about Bob's BD celebration. Hope you both had a great time. Have you done any baking lately? Bad weather there too? I was looking at web cams from Oregon, Wash., Idaho and Montana. YIKES!! Looks like winter Maybe Patty aka BigSky will check in and let us know how she is doing out there on the Great Northern Plains. Barb, Geezzzz you are getting slammed out there with the snow. Be careful and safe. Loretta, hope the company isn't wearing you out and at least helping with the cooking and clean up. So what did you have for dinner? Anyone get any great antiques? Susan, Yup just say NO. As my daddy used to say, we can't be a door mat unless we lie down. ![]() Off to lurk and hope I can keep my eyes open. Humm should put a pot of beef soup on too. ![]() Last edited by LoveMontana : 01-12-2005 at 08:51 PM. |

Hi Y'all
Geez, I'm almost afraid to watch the news....so much misery. ![]() As Anne Murray sang ...........Sure could use a little good news today Thankfully, our immediate area is fine, so far. We had an experience similar to California's in '96, with flooding and mudslides. While its heartbreaking to see the loss of human life...as Ginny and Zip said, how about using some common sense when/where building... Zip, great to hear that y'all have been having "positive" outings as of late. ![]() Nanner-nanner-nanner ! Coupon got me FOUR cans of beans for a BUCK! Aw, Barb...no matter where we choose to live, there's always some Ace up Mother Nature's sleeve to remind us NO place is without hazards. Please be safe on those roads. Montana.......hoping to hear that you have shot neither your computer...nor the Repair Guy ![]() Hoping he gets it right this time...and your BP isn't rising. I recommend Merlot. (heehee, ZIP...all FREE things aren't necessarily good, unless they are exactly what ya want...even AIDS is free, in the beginning) Julie, Hope all went well at the dentist, and no after-effects...How was Lunch? I tried Weatherbug a few years back...caused conflicts...OUT, OUT, Damned Bug! Goddess, so good for Bub to be back with his pack...being an "only child" among all those sibs had to be tough on him. Bob and I have B-days 6 days apart, so we have a Uni-B-day...which we celebrated last week with an outta town trip (casino, etc) He was sorta worn down yeaterday, so he watched OLD reruns. Also, Kaci had gotten him a bunch of movies....Little Rascals, Abbott & Costello, Luci and Desi, etc...that's Hog Heaven to him. Hey Loretta...WOW, spectacular weather you're having! Enjoy it and your company. Sure hear ya on becoming physically ill when dealing with a pi$$y puter: headache, upset tummy. Kaci and I went to Portland and outlying areas...went to a Kitchen Kaboodle (Y'all have those?) Got a couple Flex muffin pans; one has round- bottom cups, the other has very shallow cups. Was wanting an Aebleskiver Pan, but they only had heavy cast iron ones...and I have a Glass-top stove, so No-Go with that. SuSUN, its understandable, you having waited SO long for that GChild, that you want to be near her as much as possible. Your poor DH...miserable NOT knowing what the problem is...hard to "fix" the unknown. NO may take some practice, but well worth the effort ![]() Hey Jacki....I found the last piece of cheesecake in the freezer. You're right: its teriffic / YUM frozen ! To ALL, be safe and content. |
