SATURDAY for MVM

Hi gang,

No snow, ice or sleet for us...just rain. It's supposed to stop this afternoon and be nice for 7 days.

Shawnee...methinks you speak TRUE. I'd have to be hog-tied and ramrodded into the job force again. I'll file soon. I envy those who've been on disabity (they collect as if they were ful age...but with MY friggen luck they'd get picture of me at the gym, posing in my Speedos or doing bench presses! I'd look TERRIBLE in prison gray, but I hear the GUYS are friendly!

NO, I'd NEVER go to the SS Ofice in town unless I had too...from what I've heard it's a declasse' nightmare...advantage is that you get to hang onto your birth certificate which you might need if you say the wrong thing and wind up in Guantanomo!

Loretta,
I got my new catalogue from PP...saw an interesting ad on TV too. Check out the A&P...ours has JUST begun to carry Smart Beat.

I smell PANCAKES...Later kids.

Baaa....aaack! The banana pancakes were DELIGHTFUL...thatnk you Bob.

Indian Food Tip: To do it Low Carb is IMPOSSIBLE. If you TRY it will ruin the experience. The breads, the basmati rice, and the battered somosas, fritters, and almost ALL the appetizers are part of the experience. Go to a Steak joint instead!

I'm going to Spread Sheet my last years BP records for an easy print out when I go see the sawbones (whenEVAH...in my best hip black-chick!) I have Lotus 1-2-3 (ancient 1997) loaded but if I choose to use EXCEL, I'm going to have to install the OFFICE SUITE (2000)...hmmm, which way to go. OFFICE always takes longer to put in than it should.

Bye for now...enjoy your weekend!

Well we did go to the Indian restaurant and well, you may be right Roger. I didn't enjoy it. No rice but succumbed to a little of that wonderful flatbread. Have a yogurt spiced BBQ chicken. It was good and had a few vegi's, mostly undercooked onion, which doesn't turn me on. If I'm going to eat onions, I want them golden and cooked well. My tummy says Yeah!
It was just ok. Probably go to a steak place next. Oh yeah, this was Chuck's idea and when he looked at the menu he said, "suppose they have hamburgers?"

Roger, so when ARE you going to file for SS???

Had maybe an inch of snow around here. Other parts got up to 7. We live in a strange place with many variables. Convergence (sp?)zone and all.

Settling in to watch the big playoff game today. First time in 20 years the Seahawks are in.. still not very sure they'll pull it off.

Good Saturday morning maintainers!

Had a sleep-in today, finally, not waking early!

Babysitting went smoothly, although Ella is definitely ready for a tooth, drooling and fingers in the mouth.

They left around 6.30p.m. and returned just before 11p.m. so I was able to get home before midnight. I guess thats why I slept in today. I always busy myself by folding laundry, or tidying. It passes the time for me and I feel it helps them feel more organized. So I guess thats why I slept well.

Roger,
Wishing You a great rest from the weather this week!
I agree the Indian food is very carby. I find I can enjoy it with just bites of nan, a tablespoon of rice and a half a samosa. I love the variety of spices and flavours, so I dont need big portions.

Shawnee,
Thanks for the tip of Skin-so-soft. I have lots of that in, we use it as a bug repellant in the summer, on ourselves. DH likes it for golf.
What concerns me is, it has a heavy perfume, so I feel it would set Oliver off sneezing! I use an anti itch spray for him, and he sneezes and splutters after I have sprayed him with that, needless to say, there's lots of that left. The topical creams work better but I haven't been able to get a supply lately. The Vet says it is on back order.
I have been using olive oil in his rinsing water and that seemes to condition his skin and coat well.
Chuckle at the other spectators at the river bank.
I am sure you got a good supply of smoochies.

Julie,
That is fabulous news regarding Nick. Yes, many pats on the back for you Grandma! An excellent job! Keep that TLC coming!
Seems he is learning from you to give you hugs in the wide open!
Hope you enjoyed the Indian food.

Linda,
It is ages since I knitted or crocheted anything. I used to do lots of it when the kids were smaller; to calm me, I think?
Now, I feel I am always too busy to pick something up. I can see why you love that colour!

Loretta,
Awwwh, I dont like to hear about Spot running wild like that, especially near the highway! Do you know the owners well, would you be able to tell them that you saw him close to the highway? I know it is a tough call.
Thanks for the info on Glucosamine.

Ginny,
What did you buy with the gift certificate? I hope you treated yourself.

Barb,
Enjoy the weekend!

Jacki,
Whatch up to these days? Any creative projects or just creating recipes?

Saturday agin, another Suzy day, then a relaxing evening at home.

to All!

Julie,
I'll most likely file at the end of of January with 2 months to spare. I'll try rinsing the canned beans I have left but I hate losing all that nice beany thickness...but that's a cure for most of the salt.

Susun,
That IS the Horseshoe Falls at Niagara on your atavar, right?

Ginny, How's Bub.

Linda,
I'll soak some black beans overnight. Any guesses on how many 15 ounce cans would equal one pound of dried??? (I've got my soup measurement down pat with the cans...1 can, 1/2 cup of water, puree in blender with 1 t. cumin and 1/2 ounce of lemon juice. Bring to boil and serve with a Tbsp of minced onions on top.

Rain stopped and off to the gym. I have 5 free passes but I can't get Bob interested. Anybody want to join me at the pool?

Helloooooo from the frozen tundra of upstate NY. UGH!!! It's a cold 32, snow, rain, ice and just plain CRAP around here, but fortunately next week it's going to warm up a bit.

Just been fiddling around reading and doing a bit of crocheting. Getting to be a real "little ol lady".

Roger, Gosh I don't have a clue as to how many 15 oz cans would equal a lb of the dried beans. Can you save a 15 oz can and measure out the cooked dried beans and adjust your recipe?

Shawnee, You must be so relieved to have your son back home safe and sound.

My gosh, thyroid problems are so very complicated. It's a job in itself to learn what to avoid, timing of meds, etc. My head aches just thinking of the complexity of it.

Julie, by May 8 both Roger and I will have filed for SS and will be experts able to walk you through the process.

Give me a good steak or burger anytime. Indian food just isn't very good. I do like curries though and can make my own without all the carbs.

Susan, it must have felt wonderful to sleep in after the marathon babysitting you did last night. Boy you are sure a good grandma.

Loretta, poor Spot. I keep thinking of him and the stupid, irresponsible owners.

Off to catch up .
Later

Julie,
We must have been posting at the same time earlier, sorry I missed ya!
Too bad about your culinary experience. I find Inidan food is so addictive once you become accustomed to the taste. Probably best to avoid if your tummy doesn't like it.

Yes, Roger, one of the seven wonders of the world eh?
Thanks for the soup recipes, sound delicous, gotta try that one. One of my new years resolutions is to make more home made stuff, at least once a week!

Linda,
I hear ya on the mess o' stuff we all have in the NE. Do keep warm in your snugglies! Thanks for the tips on the fleece and double fleece!

Have a cozy-warm, relaxing evening y'all!

Hi all.
Sorry I haven't posted but I have been getting loads of IE errors that prompt those 'report to microsoft' boxes. Finally I got a report from them that there is no solution to my problem and that 'others like me' have had problems. Dammit dammit dammit....the suggested solution was to download SP2. I've heard not much good about it...but I may have no choice.
Before I do I would like to hear from any of you that have downloaded and what if any problems you've had---and how you got through them.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hey all,

Well, our warm up hasn't materialized as of yet. Dang forecasters don't know what they're talking about. I was looking forward to 70 degrees and open windows

Bub's doing quite well these last few days. Today we even let him in the kitchen (tile floor is a bit slick so we had him on the concrete) and he negotiated it very well. Even was able to get up after Nitro bumped him into a sit. He's doing the steps better and is speeding up, so we just have to be careful he doesn't crash too much. Lotsa heart in that pooch!

Linda, yuck on the weather there, you just be careful and be that 'little old lady' where it's warm and safe LOL

Julie, congrats to Nick on getting to the next level! Very good, and it's nice to know he's really working the program. Sorry the Indian didn't work out.....just recently we got DH to even eat at a Chinese/Japanese place when we visited DR and his DW. Confused yet?

Jacki, hope the 'puter straightens out soon. That stuff would be a PITA big time. Has Shawnee looked at it yet?

Loretta, reckon we'll ever get that warm up they promised? Did y'all get much rain last night--we had the creek in the pasture when I got home.

Susan, hope Ella doesn't have any trouble getting the teeth in...they can really be fussy with that (and probably for good reason!). Bet it felt wonderful to sleep in this morning. Gift certificate turned out to be for $30. The store it is for is a premium level grocery store, so I wound up with about $20 worth of food but at least it was free! Just got normal stuff, needed it anyways!

Zip, found meclizine in a strange place....Dramamine Less Drowsy! It's the same dose as the Antivert Bub has been getting at 1/2 the price. Our vet looked in 3 of her drug books and it isn't listed yet as an OTC product. Go figure. Anyways, she was going to check further and see what else may be available and if there is any difference at all in the pills. Doesn't look like it to me.

Shawnee, Barb, Patty and anyone I've missed hope y'all are enjoying the day! Everyone stay safe and warm!

Jackie, I'm too afraid to download SP2 just yet. I'm taking this damned machine to the "hospital" Monday and will ask them about it and let you know. I get those error msgs. too as well as my *****ED up bitmap thingy.

Susan, get that fleece. It's the warmest stuff I ever owned in jackets and my blankie.

Ginny, Oh it's so good to hear the Bub is doing much better. Give him a big hug from Aunt Linda.

Sorry you aren't getting your warm temps yet. They "promised" us high 40's next week. Yeah right!
