WEDNESDAY on MVM Mountain

Hi gang,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWNEE and DEEPEST CONDOLENCES
(I found 60 a DISTINCTLY MIXED blessing...beats the alternative though, NO 60th birthday.) I hope you get out for a nice dinner with Bob.

Weather "event" here is a 40 degree rain, not heavy but steady. A PERFECT day for the gym.

Please, everybody with ice and snow, be careful if you drive.

OK, Linda,
We'll be moving into your little apartment...I'll pick up a cute dishwasher at a bar in the Village.

More later, after something HAPPENS.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWNEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on your new decade, and have a WONDERFUL day!

All's well here, nothing new to report. Still warm for us, and I like that. I know we need the cold weather to kill off the bugs, but we've already had single digits--and I really don't want any more--even though I'm sure we'll get more. Just enjoying it while it lasts.

Hope all have a happy and content day!

Off to lurk, back later if time permits or something interesting happens!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWNEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sweet young thing!!!!!!!!!!! 60 looks young to us older folks getting on Medicare. Guess it's all where you are on the scale. Have a great one. Enjoy shopping for that new passion of yours, crochetting. It is so relaxing once you get the pattern right. Happy Birthday to Bob too. Get him his own computer for his birthday. I would not share.

Jackie and Julie, I could see your temps and tried to get my own but gave up after a few tries. Cold there. Is the snow coming?

Zip you sure sold me on all of the advantages of that pc of yours. You have lots going on there with it.

Linda that is interesting about the Rav going into 4 wheel drive without your knowing about it. You would think there would be a light on or some noise happening with the change. It must be automatic drive. I had wanted to get that cookbook but I think I might be too late. The bars taste fine and I will make them again but let the crust cool before I put the filling on top.

Back later
Loretta

25 degrees here and my furnace is running waaaay toooo much. But it is sunny and for that I'm grateful. No, I'm not still using the light therapy. I didn't feel it was doing much good. Good ole sun is the best and will take advantage to every ray that shines.

No too newsy here either today. I managed to do all the taxi service yesterday. Did have to leave the Memorial service early though. Today I'm off to have breakfast with a good friend. Maybe run out to the mall and return something. Gee I do that a lot!! Going to get my hair cut later....hmmmm not so sure it really needs it this time. I always want a different hair style this time of year but I know I'll be back to the shortness I'm use to. It's easy too. Off for now, check back later...

Julie,

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a glass roofed room at the top of the house where we could lounge nude all winter and suck up every sunny day (AND take advantage of solar heating.) I guess the big enemy would be HAILSTORMS!
<<Honey, time to wash the RO-OOF!">>

Anyone curious about the regulation for working if you start taking SS at 62:
Quote:
If you work and are full retirement age (age 65 and 4 months in 2004) or older, you may keep all of your benefits, no matter how much you earn. If you are younger than age 65 and 4 months all year, there is a limit to how much you can earn and still receive full Social Security benefits. If you are younger than age 65 and 4 months in all of 2004, we must deduct $1 from your benefits for each $2 you earned above $11,640.
My guess is that the age figue will keep moving up and be 66 in 3 or 4 years to keep up with that "adjustment" of 1983 that was going to "save social security."...gotta love the devices that sound so good but are just pickpocket schemes in disguise!

RIGHT ON ROGER!!! We have skylights all over so does that count? Naked under those??? Ok, I'm game for anything...only when Nick is gone to school or work though!!!
Keep forgetting to tell you how beautiful your African Violet avatar is. I have always had A Violets and can grow them much easier than the Orkids...

Shawnee!! WHAT A GREAT AGE!! Don't you just love those even numbers?

Well, the car is totaled - Samantha has a strained muscle in the neck but otherwise is ok. She had to go to work today and it took her 1.5 hr. on the bus (sounds like a plan to me). We are looking at a 2005 Honda Civic right there in the Twin Cities for her. At first, we wanted to give her my car, Honda Accord- 2001 and I get a new car -- but who wants to drive it all the way to MN at this time of the year? We've always had Honda's until they die or get hit. At least I'm feeling better -- that really hit me for a loop, we could have lost her if he had hit her door instead of the back door on the driver's side.

Of course, Julie is in the "delivery" business -- pick up and drop off?

Snowed here last night and this am and the roads were a mess!!

Zip, I thought you were outside on the roof in a hailstorm! OUCH!! A hot tub (nude) would have the same effect.

We have several places around here that are in that mode. I don't really like to show anything off after 50!!

to all and must get back to work!! Later, Barb

Well, the "event" has started. If you listen to the radio and TV weather, we will get between 1" and 14" of the white crap overnight and then it will turn to freezing rain. OH JOY!!
Hope we can get out tomorrow because I have an appointment with a local Vascular guy just to see what he has to say.

Roger,

You pick up that dishwasher and we will make room. How about a cook too?

" If you are younger than age 65 and 4 months in all of 2004, we must deduct $1 from your benefits for each $2 you earned above $11,640." That just SUCKS!!

Ginny, yeah we all need the cold weather to kill off those bugs. Poor Dakota was still picking up fleas last month because it didn't get cold enough to kill them off.

Loretta, good idea to get the guys their own computer. I hate to share my toys too.

We have always had on demand 4WD and just pushed the lever but this thing has a computer sensor that kicks it in somehow. It's a manual transmission too.

Humm, I'm in the mood for lemon bars. LOL if we get totally snowed in tomorrow, I'll make some more. I do have several recipes for them.

Julie, easy hair is the best way to go. It's a PITA to have to fiddle with it. Mine is wash and wear.
Glad you got the taxi duty over with not many problems.

Teehee, naked under those sky lights, eh? We have large south facing windows in the front of the house so I suppose I could just stand there and frighten drivers right off the road.

Barb, You must be so relieved that your DD wasn't hurt badly. She is extremely fortunate.
She will love that new Honda. We are still thinking about the HondaCRV but we have always had Toyota's and driven them till they dropped.

Waving to everyone else and again, Happy Birthday Shawnee.

Gotta check the snow fall.

OMG Linda, you sure gave me a laugh...oops, sorry didn't mean to offend you.

Ok, lets do a poll....
How many of us turning 62 this year are going to take SS now!
I can't decide but probably will. Why not?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWNEE!
How wonderful to reach 60 and still look as youthful as you do!
You are so right when you say we have lots in common. My DH's birthday is the 11th too! Yes, we are 4 Capricorns, the sure footed goats eh?
I sincerely hope you had a wonderful day and evening.

Barb,
I am so relieved that your DD was safe. Sheesh! Her guardian angel was watching over her to push her out of harms way!
That new Honda sounds great and the easiest solution! Does she get to choose the colour?
I am with you on not showing anything in the hot tub after 50!

Roger,
Poohi! Don't like that deducting scale, penalties for reaching pensionable age!
We saw the Manchurian Candidate Sunday night, it kept our attention for sure!

Linda,
What a friendly BB were are? I can see you "bearing all" mainly for medicinal purposes, Vit D, ultra violet etc...
Neat feature on your RAV! It must have a 'puter onboard!
Thanks, I did get a good sleep last night, so I felt much better at the salt mines today.

Loretta,
Thanks for the tips on posting a pic to the BB. I will do it one day, I will!
What did you mean you were trying to see your temperature on that bar thing?
I just know ours is presently -15C with a dumping coming tomorrow, so a warm up at least, driving should be slow though!

Julie,
I have just turned 56 but I wanna join your poll!
We can get it at 60 up here but not sure about the penalties for working, gotta check that out!
We wont get too far in Florida with such a reduced pension. A double-wide and early bird specials here we come!
Being a chauffeur is part of being a grandparent right? Is this yet to come?
Love the temp bar, shows in F and C!

Ginny,
Glad to hear that you are warming up!
Betcha Bud enjoys that too. Love hearing about his progress, bless him.
Hope the salt mines dont wear ya down!
How is your "red neck girl" holding up? All shiney and red?

Waving to our creative Jacki, and lurkers!

Just had to write a few lines and tell you it was -35 below last night and close to that again tonight. Had a dentist appointment in Williston,ND. Our thermostat in the Nissan froze up and boy did we have a time getting there. It was still -31 below when we left and Williston is 50 miles away. Spent all day in the Dentist office and the Honda shop. Had to replace the thermostat and change the oil. What a nightmare in that weather! Had to get a root canal reworked- have infection in it.
Linda my last dog was named Dakota too!! We must be related somehow!!!!!
Talked with son, Shawn, in Ft. Lauderdale-a balmy 78 degrees! I have this hate- love relationship with Montana. Winter is the pits.
Does anyone else think they are starving in the winter when it is this cold? I think I know why the bears put on a layer of fat and sleep all winter.
Just wanted to share my cold day in Montana-oh yes -wind chill factor will drop it to about -45 tonight.
Everyone keep warm. Patty

Hi ya Patty, it's good to see you here. YIKES!!! It sure is cold there in my favorite state. God Darn!! Maybe we should all pack up and move to Fla. -35 is far to much. Stay warm girl.

Yes, I've been unnaturally hungry in this cold but don't bother eating too much. I just grab some cheese or raw vegetables and a glass of wine and I'm fine.

Sorry you are having a problem with your root canal and hope the infection is cleared soon.

Yes, we must be "related" somehow with all we have in common including the Dakota pups.

Susan, you are lucky to be able to collect SS at 60 years old. Don't know how far it will get you in Fla. though with the high real estate prices and medical ins. Yes do check out the penalties for working.

Julie, no offense taken at all. I am laughing at the thought.

I'm in, and will take my SS ASAP. None of us know how long we will live, and I want to get all I can.

Me again,

Barb, SO glad your DD is ok!!! Good thing she had the presence of mind to gas on it and not take a direct-to-her hit. Cars can be replaced--people can't!

Bigsky, wow, that's COLD. Been there, done that in MN, and got sick of it enough to move. The coldest it's gotten here in our part of TN is about 6 above. That's cold enough for me!

Linda, sounds like your event will be just nasty there. Don't take any chances, stay home tomorrow if the roads are bad!

Everyone have a good night.........off to lurk!

Hi Y'all

THANKS and for the Birthday Wishes, y'all are the BEST...Bob says thanks too.
Had a good day, traveled North about 50 mi. Brekkie around 10 AM, bit o' shopping, then Casino Time. (the answer is NO!)

Son will return to SeaTac tomorrow from sunny Mexico; he may be greeted by Sneaux upon arrival...will serve him right if so, for leaving me behind.

Yes, SuSUN...let's hear it for the good ol' GOATS, salt of the Earth. Yes, you WILL experience chauffering, guaranteed.

Zip Thanks for the discouraging SS news... At the rate its going, I'd be foolish to wait beyond 62.

Barb, hope your DD heals well and fast. Will she be getting therapy? This Motherhood thing is tough on us, huh?
I think I LIKE being 60, and being told I don't act like it...LOL, just how in the hell does one ACT 60 ???

Hey Big Sky...your adventures make the rest of us sound like wimps
My neighbor's pup is a "Dakota" too.

Ginny, have ya thought about a long rug runner for your kitchen ? Bub could get some traction on it.

Montana, YIKES, y'all gonna get Montana-type weather??? Hope not! You'll freeze your skinny butt off!

Julie We have skylights all over so does that count? Naked under those??? Ok, I'm game for anything
OK, Gal...we want pictures and a verification note from your DH!

Hey Jacki, hope work is going smoothly. Any new recipes?

Loretta, aren't we all 19 at heart, but going on 90 some days?
LOL on the Crochetting, my enthusiasm surpasses my skill level, but it keeps me out of trouble.

To ALL, stay warm and content.

Shawnee
