Tuesday for the MVM
Hi gang,
Drizzle abating after about 18 hours warm rain. It looks like we could get a walk in today. The cold has gone but I'm left weak after 12 days on my ass. My 2 week gym freeze is over tomorrow and THAT will be a shock to my system; I'll take it REALLY, REALLY easy for the first week, mostly just stretching with small weights. I joined last Feb. and had 6 weeks of freeze so my member ship should be up mid March...I'll renew. Yesterday we saw a very enjoyable 3 hour extravaganza: THE AVIATOR. I'm not really too fond of Leonardao deCaprio but he was very good as Howard Hughes. Best plane crash sequence I've ever seen on film. See it if you can in a theater...it's a BIG movie. Linda, Glad you spotted Don cowering under the potted plants at WallyWorld...they can RUN but they can't HIDE! ![]() Barb, Your daughter is lucky she wasn't more badly hurt except for that horrible WHIPLASH that could go on for MONTHS and cause bad dreams and loss of libido and fear of driving... Julie, Julie, could you pick me up...I need to do some errands? (It's 3,000 miles due East as the VERY strong crow flies! No grandkids though ![]() ))Super slop coming our way Wednesday and Thursday, so I guess it's man the grocery carts TODAY! To all a good day.

Hey gang,
Not much new here. Still quite warm, which we are enjoying. THe longer it stays warm, the less winter we'll have to deal with Bub's slightly steadier on his feet, but still tries to go too fast sometimes. Since we've dropped the dosage of prednisone down, he's less hungry.......but he's not very active either. So long as he doesn't lose weight we won't bump the pred back up.Zip, best get everything done today and batten down the hatches LOL Even though they don't really know what's fixin' to happen, you don't want to have to run out for that ONE THING in a slopfest! Barb, your poor DD!!! How is she feeling today? Did she get to a dr and get xrays done? Good thing she sped up and the idiot hit behind her. Sure hope she's not hurt, and also that the driver that hit her has proper insurance! Keep us posted. Linda, are you all set for the 'weather event'? Good luck with your 'puter guy. Loretta, even with it being a bit moist out, it must be nice to have warm walking weather! Are you still running into Spot? Shawnee, I hope you're back to feeling normal again! All that med tweaking has got to get old after a while. Pups send hugs (and the accompanying shedding!) Susan, has everything gotten back to normal now that the holidaze are done? Hard to go back to the salt mines, huh! Julie, sheesh, another run for ya.......sure hope you're using a vehicle that gets good gas mileage! Jacki, was it quite a shock to go back to work after such a nice winter break? Seems like no matter how many times ya do it, coming back off vacation is rough! On a good note here, gas prices have been going the RIGHT way! Filled up for $1.48/gallon a few days ago! Funny thing, that price was in our small town. Where I work, gas is $1.65/gal. Go Figure. L8r, y'all

Julie/Chuck's taxi on the road again..........
Going to be a crazy day..Nick to school by 9:00, going to try and bowl at 10:00, Bo's friend is coming for a play date for a few hours at 11:30, pick Nick up from school at 12:50, memorial for the next door neighbor who died at 2:00, pick Madison up at preschool at 3:00!!! COLLAPSE!!! So how's your day fixing up everybody? Zip, we too are expecting snow by Thursday. Hope it doesn't make the roads crazy as usual. Everyone around these parts act like idiots and cars all over the roads. Most business's close if it's over an inch. Want to go with Nick to court on Friday, (next town) as he will graduate to phase 2!!!!!!! HURRAH!!!! (Just 2 more to go) Get out there and stock up guy! Ginny, so glad Bub is improving. Poor ole pup. Gas has come down here too but only to about $1.75. Off to get dressed........

Hi Y'all
Julie, you sound like a Soccor Mom. We frequently got caught up in that rat race a few years back, before the GBrats got licenses. It was 24* here last night...you can have my portion of the upcoming snow. Bright sun trying to melt off a very heavy, white frost right now. Loretta, lil Leah is so adorable, looks like she's practicing the "Royal Wave"...she's destined to big happenings. My Pot tulips are up about 6" now, craving Spring. Daffys are up several inches too. SuSUN, thanks for the pics of your lovely Girls...teriffic outfits too. Miss Ella's hats are so charming. Ginny, thanks for the pup update, glad that Bub is recovered as much as he is. I'm more stabilized (thanks) with the thyroid...less stress now that Holidays are over... Barb, for your DD, and to you...so hard on Moms when they can't have hands-on access to their hurting kids, no matter how old the kids are.Zip, good idea to go the slooow route when resuming the gym thing. Aren't ya glad you don't have to buy gas to get there? ![]() Jacki, hope ya overcame that vertigo! Be careful on the slick roads. Montana, hope your puter guy shows up and gets ya out of that Picture save snaffu, and other ailments. To ALL, be warm and content. Here's some Info re my Native Avatar. Kokopelli was a dirty old man ![]() http://www.acaciart.com/stories/archive10.html ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 01-04-2005 at 10:26 AM. |

Hi everyone,
I see the notice Tom put up about this site being down for maintenance for an hour or so this afternoon. Sure hope it's a simple fix because it would be just awful to have this site down for a few days. Does anyone remember several years ago when the site was down for about a month? Just sitting here waiting for Don to call. Talked with him last night and he will try to get here this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed. *&^%$ weather people still aren't saying exactly what this "event" will be. Maybe snow, maybe ice, freezing rain and snow. Who knows. Roger, be very careful at the Gym. We would hate to see you pull a muscle or something. Humm, maybe I can take my mom to see The Aviator because Gerard hasn't set foot in a movie theater in over 20 years. Ginny, it's good to hear Bub is a bit more stable. Here's hoping the meds will do the trick soon. Hopefully the little guy won't lose any weight. "Event" is supposed to start tomorrow evening. Hope it's not too bad because I have an appointment with a local Vascular guy Thurs. afternoon but will cancel if it's a mess out there. Julie, Good heavens!! You are in a "rat race". Hope you can learn to say "NO" soon. Sometimes people just don't think when they ask us to do so darn much. Guess they figure that since we aren't working that we won't mind. HA! Shawnee, it's great to hear that your thyroid has stabilized. Hope you continue on the path to good health. You are going to get SNOW?? UGH, you have my sympathy. Barb, continued and wishes for a quick recovery for your DD.Jackie, how's the vertigo? Hope you are doing better. |

Hi all.
Man o Man has it been cold!!! Brrrrrrr This morning it was 21* on my front porch. Shady areas never did thaw today. Trying the weather sticker again: http://banners.wunderground.com/bann...A/Longview.gif It should keep showing the current weather conditions. They say it will be in the teens tonight and maybe snow this weekend. YIKERS!! LOL, Julie is right...here in the PNW one inch of snow does bring everything to a screeching halt. Work back has gone smoothly....let's hope the rest of the week stays the same. The vertigo was a one day thing thank goodness. I think my inner ear fluids must have shifted while sleeping because all was well sunday. Barb, how is your daughter doing now? How scary! Leah is precious!! Love that picture. Everyone...take good care of you and yours. ![]() |

Hi to all
Been catching up on baking some goodies today. About out of cookies and wanted to try a new dessert, some lemon bar cookies. The bar cookies have a crust then you add the filling. I should have let the crust cool some first. My regular almond flour cookies did not turn out the same as usual either. Maybe I should have waited for dry weather day. Rain all day today. What a mess in the kitchen, just with the baking and dirty dishes. Thanks Jackie for the temp. I see your degrees falling away. And snow on the way? We are still warm but will cool of in a day or two. I sure hope we don't see any more snow for the rest of the winter. Glad that you are not dizzy any more than usual. Gee Linda I sure hope that snow "event" does not get out of hand for you. But you might get a chance to put that new 4 wheel drive to the test. Have you had to use it yet? Barb I hope you have heard from your Dd with some good news today or just no news but being stable. for her and for you. Being so far away is really stressful. Shawnee what will happen to the tulips now that they are up some. I wonder if the freeze will bother them. I forgot to look at mine today. I am sort of hopeing that our temps go back to normal. This warm stuff is nice but I know we need the cold weather too. I had a heck of a time getting Leah to pose. Forget that. Just aim and snap and you get what you get. That one just caught the right moment. I sure had to delete a lot of pics. Susun to post a pic on the bb you need to have a place like photobucket to download the picture to first. From there you can find the IMG address of the pic and just copy and paste it into your post. Photo bucket is nice and I have several albums started there. You just have to try it. Hope Dh gets that appointment soon. Zip I think you should look at a new computer. My sis is shopping now for a new emachine. I heard that a big co. like Dell or someone like that makes those emachines. I wish I had gotten a new one long before I did the memory upgrade etc. Ginny I know it is great this warm stuff but it sure need to be colder to kill some of those bugs. Thanks for the pattern for the granny square. Not sure where I am going to go with my crafts this year. Seems like there is not much of a market for homemade stuff lately. My quilts on ebay (listed by EasyGoAuctions) have not sold at all. NO bids even. Julie did you get all of that chauffering (sp) done today. You could say no. That is a lot to ask of you to pick up Madison every day from pre school. until May yet?????? That is a little much. You will have to be careful what you plan. Hope you are feeling fine lately. Are you still using the light tx? Later folks Loretta

Julie, go to that website and at the top there should be a box to put your zip code in. Then you will find the page for your area. Scroll down till until you find "get your weather sticker'. or something like that. It will take you to a page that has different styles of stickers. Find one you like. To post it, right click, properties, then highlight the url and copy/paste that url in your post box (here) using img button.

Lordy,
I just downloaded the most exciting FREE game called TUXRACER. If you've ever skiied and enjoyed the exhileration/panic of letting the skis point straight down and gather as much speed as possible, this game matches the feeling SAFELY. It's a skiing penguinwho is racing the clock as well as trying to pick up herring on the fly...the flying slopes are so LIFELIKE it takes my breath away...and I'm only on the PRACTICE slopes rather than the RACING level... If any of you are occasional gamers, let me know and I'll help with the download...not hard, but just a few more spteps than usual. Hey gang, I LOVE my puter and it's really still pretty hot...the 933 mhz Pentium-3 is probably the equivalent of most of the cheap Celerons sold only last year, and the 384 Mb RAM memory, 20 gig drive, CD-RW burner, FLOPPY DRIVE and separate Sound Blaster card and snazzy VNIDIA VANTA 64 separated video card make it much better than lots of the "integrated" motherboards that on which all functions share the same RAM with clashing competition. The big 19 inch Dell Trinitron monitor is really nice too (even if it WEIGHS 300 pounds!)I'll keep it for a long time...certainly til the new version of WINDOWS comes out, and then probably even a year after that to let MSFT work the kinks out. Nothing much has been added to the world of the desktop in the last 4 years. No pressing reason for anything new. And ANY machine I have, new or old, will require reformatting often...I can't abide something that isn't working PERFECTLY...I ignore it for awhile but it's like an ITCH I eventually HAVE to scratch. A couple of us on a tech board used to laugh: where others deleted files, we deleted the WHOLE DRIVE. ![]() Hey if you use an ATOM bomb, you KNOW you killed the mosquito Ewww....last week I saw a food eating competition. Several different food trials were done with winners in each food category. Really nauseating one was the MAYONNAISE competition. The winner ate...get ready, 8 POUNDS in 5 minutes. Can you IMAGINE! He commented the next day that once he got to his hotel room he felt as if he had been JIFFY LUBED. I hope they had a TV in the bathroom! My my...after 9 PM in JANUARY and it's STILL holding 50 degrees here. I just ran out finally got some snapshots of the main central garden's Xmas decorations (not ours, the one all 10 buildings share (called TOWN SQUARE.) The lighting scheme is really lovely and I'll know tomorrow what my camera's capabilities are for nightime tieme exposures. I'll post the best picture. OK, did I go blind????
Cannot see either Jacki's or Julie's Temp thingy!! Is this one of those "only available /visible for 30 minutes " thingys.?? Our predicted snow is still iffy...maybe, maybe not...hoping NOT! I will achieve my official "old broad" status tomorrow, the Big Six-0. ![]() Bob's B-day is the 11th, and we had planned to do something...but with the threat of crud weather looming, think its best we keep within a 100-mi radius...so maybe a few mini-ventures instead. Loretta, humidity too high for the baked goodies ? Bet they still taste great. Please put the Coffee on, Yum-yum. The tulips should do fine thru the freezes. I saw Pansies and Primroses at the store...usually they wait til Feb. to sell them. Not a Gamer here, unless its in a Casino Bob bought me a new leather puter chair, which I didn't want...but apparently my old chair was hard on his butt...he sneaks in Game Time on this puter when he thinks I'm asleep. Grrr, I hate to share my puter!! The leather is cold on my butt, so I added a fat pad....not to my butt, to the chair! ![]() May get in some real Casino time tomorrow, if the weather cooperates. Also a stop at a big city yarn shop, need more materials to feed my growing crochet addiction. YIKES, the future projects are piling up...so many ideas, so little time WTH is coming over me??? I am so NOT a Domesticated Diva.To all, be content. ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 01-04-2005 at 09:24 PM. |

What weather banners
I don't see them either Shawnee, so you aren't blind.Happy Birthday to you and Bob!! Enjoy even close to home stuff. You both deserve it. Sorry Julie and Jackie, I just can't see them either. Roger, can I adopt you and your computer skills? We have a lovely little apartment all ready for you. Just have to pick up a dishwasher to complete it. 8lbs of MAYO??? Barf!Loretta, in the new Atkins Holiday Cook book, there is a nice recipe for lemon bars. Haven't tried it yet but it looks good. Sorry yours didn't turn out the way you expected, but as Shawnee said, put the coffee on and we will be there. The Rav4 goes into AWD or 4WD when the computer senses the road conditions. I guess it did it a time or two on this hill but one can't tell like you can in a regular old 4WD. It got us up the hill though, so that counts for something.Susan, get some rest girl. I'm off to lurk and then bed. |
